28 Nov - All Games Postponed -  The snow and ice meant that every game was postponed.

21 Nov - Taylor & Emmet Sunday Junior Cup - Rikki treble lifts The Vine and Niagara and Redmires also through -  Three Blades Super Draw sides made progress in the Taylor and Emmet Sunday Junior Cup, but Southey Social’s run came to an end in a sensational thirteen goal thriller with Doncaster’s Carpenters Arms.

The Vine looked to be on their way out when they trailed 2-0 at Rotherham’s Queens Tap Room with less than ten minutes remaining, but they never gave up and after Lea Godwin set up a first for Rikki Davidson (pictured left), Brent Heeley popped up with an equaliser at the death to send the game into extra time. That seemed to knock the stuffing out of their hosts and The Vine took the tie with two more for Davidson and another from Danny Seaman.

Niagara also fell behind at the Meadowhall’s John O Gaunt and although Tom Staniforth headed an equaliser, Niagara were behind again at the interval. Niagara didn’t give up though and levelled with a terrific Jamie Shepherd free kick and their hosts suffered a further blow when they had a player dismissed. It still looked as if it would go to extra time though, but in the final minute Daniel Cooper latched onto a through ball before calmly beating the keeper to put Niagara into the last sixteen.

Joining them is Redmires after they kept their record of wins in every game going at the expense of Division Two Junior Blades. James Kirkham headed home Dave Knaggs’ corner to put Redmires ahead after just five minutes and soon after Ben Palmer intercepted a back pass before rounding the keeper to double the lead. Luke Siggs made it three before half time and although Richard Brailey pulled one back for the Blades, Knaggs had the final say when he beat three players before slotting home Redmires’ fourth.

Southey Social had also won every game before last weekend, but they soon found themselves two down to Carpenters Arms. Southey hit back to level through Danny Lindley and John Mellor, but just after the break went behind again. Chris Roberts fired them level and when John Mellor’s second put them in front it looked like they would go on to win it, but it was their visitors turn to fight back to send the game into extra time. Carpenters quickly opened up a two goal lead again and although Todd Guest pulled one back Carpenters soon hit their seventh. Southey roared back again to make it 7-6 with Lindley’s second of the game, but despite putting the visitors goal under intense pressure they couldn’t force another equaliser. Referee Gab Siles can also be proud of his contribution into the tie of the tournament so far.

CBC Premier - West End ruin Yew Tree's record and 147 also beaten as Steels take top spot -  With Ecclesfield 147 losing at reviving Stannington Village, Stocksbridge Park Steels took top spot by completing an eight day double over Laycock Sports. Laycocks looked determined to reverse the previous week’s defeat and took the lead after fifteen minutes through Alex Napier, but their lead was short lived as Adam Todd equalised just a minute later.

Todd was on target again when he headed home to give Steels a half time lead and they doubled their lead midway through the second half when John McSeveney weaved a shot through a crowd of defenders. Laycocks didn’t give up though and Sam Read pulled one back and they almost levelled when John Kilcoyne hit the bar, but Steels hung on to take that top spot. Pictured left is McSeveney's third goal, with the players celebrating afterwards (pictures by Graham Leary).

Ecclesfield 147 had to go into their game at Stannington Village still short of seven first choice players and despite their best efforts, they were undone by a Stannington side beginning to look like the title challengers normally expected of them. Lee Johnstone gave Stannington the lead and although Paul Bashforth had one effort saved and Kevin Hunter was doing his best at the back, they couldn’t stem the flow and Dean Jepson added a second before Sean Flynn’s third finished things off.

The last CBC Premier unbeaten record when Woodhouse West End kept up their record of always beating Yew Tree in the league with a 2-0 victory. Daniel McLean and Chris Leek both squandered open goals that might have turned the game Yew Tree’s way, but after twenty minutes when man of the match Sammy Glaves set up Ashleigh Atkins he showed them how to do it to give West End the lead. Tree tried to respond and Steve Gordon had a shot well saved, but five minutes before the break, it was West End that struck again when Dale Fuller (pictured right) headed a corner home.

Civil Service’s poor run continued with when a last gasp goal from Handsworth WMC’s Robert Pratt condemned Service to their fifth defeat in their last six games. It looked like Service’s run would end when Wes Bamford gave them the lead and only two terrific saves by former Leicester City man Tony James stopped them extending their lead. James work paid off when James Leesley put Liam Simmonite through and he cut the ball back for new signing Michael Butler to level before half time. After the break, Handsworth had a good chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty, but Service keeper Matt Smith produced a great save to keep his side level. It looked like it would stay that way until Simmonite was put through and he unselfishly squared the ball for Pratt to score with what turned out to be the last kick of the game.

Nick Owen hit his fifth hat-trick of the season as Hemsworth Villa inflicted a second home defeat of the season on Pitsmoor Royal Oak. Pitsmoor started brightly and twice hit the bar, but they fell behind when Owen showed he isn’t just a goal poacher by hitting one from thirty yards. It soon got worse for the home side when a Tom Turner cross was only half cleared and Matt Bray volleyed home. Below left is Owen's first, with Bray's goal second and third left, followed by more action from the game.

Pitsmoor got themselves back into it after the break when Craig O’Brien found the net and Villa keeper Shayne Bennett was forced into a couple of saves to keep his side in front. Pitsmoor were equally glad of two Ryan Glaves saves, but even he could do nothing to stop Owen grabbing a second. Owen then completed his treble with another long range effort to lift his side two places up the table.

After losing their last three, Ranch manager Carl Pierce got his squad together before the game against Woodhouse Angel to give them a few home truths and the ploy worked as his side played some of it’s best football of the season to win 2-0. The first half was cat and mouse with neither side able to find a breakthrough, but after the interval, Ranch’s Scott Thompson playing in a new forward role began to terrorise the Angel defence and although he was brought down in the area, referee allowed play to continue as the ball fell perfectly for Breon Fogarty to put Ranch ahead. Soon after, when Thompson was felled in the area again after he had run on to Chris Hall’s pass, the penalty was awarded and Richard Honeyman scored to wrap up the three points.

Division 1 - Double hat trick helps Aston and a Stuart treble widens gap at the top -  A Danny Stuart (pictured right) treble was enough for Millhouses Thermolast to extend their lead at the top of Division One with victory over Rivelin. Rivelin almost took the lead when Pickering fired over, but when Ally Berry was felled in the area, up stepped Stuart to send the keeper the wrong way and give Millhouses the lead. Rivelin soon hit back though and were level by half time thanks to a Scott Smith strike, but they were finding it hard to cope with Berry and after he was again felled in the area, Stuart stepped up to repeat the earlier dose. Rivelin then needed some great saves from keeper Scott Tilney to keep them in the game, but even he couldn’t stop Stuart completing his hat-trick with a wickedly in-swinging corner.

Despite falling behind to a Karl Fox strike, Aston Swallownest’s revival continued as both Josh Batham and Ross Edwards hit hat-tricks as to beat Malthouse. Batham drew Aston level before Edwards smashed home a free kick, only for Neil Whitworth to level for Malthouse before the break. The second half started just like the first as Fox put Malthouse ahead from the penalty spot, but Batham levelled a second time before Edwards completed his treble with two bullet headers. Batham wasn’t to be out done though and he completed his treble to ensure Aston’s third win in four games.

Brinsworth Whitehill’s last win was over Loxley, but this time it was Loxley’s turn to take the points as a Josh Delaney double condemned Brinsworth to their third successive defeat. Lee Struggles and Jack Outhwaite combined for Delaney to head Loxley in front, but Brinsworth levelled when they were awarded a penalty after Gary Marsden had been fouled in the area. Marsden picked himself up to take the kick and although Joe Howarth saved it, the ball rebounded to Marsden and this time he made no mistake. With Danny Bray outstanding, Loxley got on top in the second half and they just about deserved to take the points with a second from Delaney after Struggles again set him up.

Division 2 - Baxter leaves Old Crown in the soup, while The Park is a Bridges too far for Chapeltown -  With Throstles and Bulls Head drawing, Fairbank-Rhodes extended their lead at the top of Division Two to six points as an Andy Baxter treble helped them to victory at Highfield Old Crown. Joe Kinight , Scott Whittington, Neil Boote and Jamie Kerr added Fairbank’s others, while Eddlie McErlain netted Crown’s consolation from the penalty spot.

Liam Bonnick pounced on a bad back pass to give Throstles the lead in their top of the table clash with second place Bulls Head. The visitors scored a controversial equaliser when they were awarded a penalty and it took Nick Ash two attempts after encroachment on his first attempt. Bonnick put his side back in front after the break, but had to settle for a point in the end when Ash turned in the box before hitting his second.

After Scott Brearley had given visiting Chapeltown RBL the lead, The Park hit back with a four goal blast from Lee Bridges (pictured left) to take the points. Ben Palmer managed a second for Chapeltown, but The Park keeper Jamie Hill celebrated his birthday by denying them a third with a terrific penalty save. Referee Mark Bennett also received praise for his performance.

Royal Oak re-joined the promotion race as Simon Major grabbed two in a 3-0 victory over Old Blue Ball. Tom Goodison and Alex Wright did their best for Ball, but it wasn’t enough to stop Major and his strike partner Owen Clarke from adding the other.

Old Harrow got back to winning ways with a hard earned victory over Oughtibridge Village. Richard Ashton put Harrow ahead only to cancel it out with an own goal, but they were back in front by the interval thanks to a Martin Shaw strike. The second half saw Oughtibridge pile on the pressure, but for once the Harrow defence stayed tight to take the points.

The Angel IT Solutions Peak Performer Awards went to Fairbank-Rhodes' Scott Whittington after his 11 goals in the first month, while Ecclesfield 147 Players Lounge's Ryan Keeney took the October Award after playing a pivotal role in his side's rise to the top of the CBC Premier

14 Nov - League teams honour Remembrance Sunday -  Our teams honoured Remembrance Sunday, and below is Rivelin & The Vine, and Yew Tree & Pitsmoor Royal Oak

14 Nov - CBC Premier - Mitchell is back with a bang as League goes goal crazy -  On a day when an incredible eighty three goals were scored in just fifteen games, Ali Mitchell (pictured right) celebrated his return to the Stannington Village team with a hat-trick as his side climbed off the foot of the CBC Premier table by thrashing Civil Service.

Service started badly by gifting Stannington the lead with a headed own goal before Sami Eric hit the visitors second. Ben Brown hit a thirty yard stunner into the top corner to put Service back into the game by half time, but once Dean Jepson restored Stannington’s two goal advantage, Service were broken. Mitchell grabbed his first when he reacted first to a Ben Cook effort that came back off a post and he added his second from the penalty spot before completing his hat-trick with a header.

Craig Senior also hit a hat-trick in leaders Ecclesfield 147 Players Lounge's victory over Ranch. Injuries meant that Senior was 147’s only fit forward, but he soon showed his prowess by heading home Lee Pagdin’s cross. Senior’s second came when Paul Bashforth flicked on Ben Hill’s cross and his third soon followed. Bashforth finished off a move that started with their keeper to make it four and number five came when Matt Clarke headed home Ryan Keeney’s cross, before Scott Thompson netted Ranch’s only consolation.

John Ward netted two for Stocksbridge Park Steels as they just came out on top of a seven goal thriller with Laycock Sports. Steels led by Ward’s goals at half time, but Laycocks came storming back to level with John Kilcoyne’s twice taken penalty and a Sam Read strike. After Kevin Davies solo goal had restored Steels lead, Laycocks levelled again through Luke Glaves, but Steels finally won it when Adam Todd produced an exquisite lob over the keeper.

Another game full of incident and excitement saw Carl Eaton's last minute goal give Handsworth WMC a point at local rivals Woodhouse West End. Anthony Dolan gave West End a tenth minute lead, but Chisanga Nshindano soon levelled when he beat the offside trap to race onto Sean Simmonite’s pass and score. James Leesley then sent Carl Atkin away and his cutback was expertly put away by Liam Simmonite to put Handsworth ahead, but West End were back level with Dave Kippax’s eleventh of the season.

Ryan Taylor and Liam Simmonite almost restored Handsworth’s lead, but West End driven on by Dale Fuller looked as if they had won it when David Haley was brought down in the area and he picked himself up to score from the spot. Handsworth produced one final effort when they were awarded a throw in, Carl Bowler flicked on Lee Dolan’s long throw for man of the match Carl Eaton to head the equaliser.

Gavin Davis put Pitsmoor Royal Oak ahead after three minutes at Yew Tree and both he and Delroy Elliott had further efforts well saved before Adam Myers crossed for Mark Dobbs to head Yew Tree’s equaliser just before the interval. The second half saw Scott Birch and Chris Leek go close for Tree and Scott Szpajer almost won it for Pitsmoor, but both had to settle for a point. Pictured below are the teams observing the silence for Remembrance Sunday together with action from the game.

Hemsworth Villa looked as if they would build on their victory over the leaders the previous week when Nathan Platts converted Mark Hopkinson’s cross and a Steven Jones strike put them two up against Woodhouse Angel, but things started to go wrong when Kirk Briddon raced through to chip over the keeper to reduce the arrears before half time. Gareth Simons levelled in the second half and Briddon completed the turnaround and a great team performance by volleying home Angel’s winner.

Division 1 - Millhouses and Anston share twelve goals -  The most goals came at Millhouses Thermolast where William Ford's last gasp strike saw the Division One leaders share twelve with Anston Athletic. Adam Mason and Adam Russell put Anston two up before Tom Gardiner pulled one back for Millhouses. Simon Herberts restored Anston’s two goal advantage before half time and although Gardiner headed his second, Ben Sergeant’s composed finish kept Anston two in front until a quick fire double from Ally Berry dragged Millhouses level. James Lawton and Herberts second then looked to have won it for Anston, but Berry completed his hat-trick before Ben Woodman’s cross was headed home by Ford to end a remarkable game.

The Vine are second after victory at Rivelin. Danny Seaman scored from an acute angle to give The Vine the lead and it was doubled before half time when Will Blakeney flicked on for Craig Woolley to head home. Rivelin didn’t help themselves in the first half when they had a penalty saved, but they did pull one back after the interval when Tom Bermingham scored with a second penalty. The Vine were in mood to let the lead slip though and after Rikki Davidson had twice gone close, Jamie Moore hit a clinching third from the edge of the area. The teams also praised referee Matt Archibald for his performance. Pictured below is the team's shaking hands before the game and one of the penalties.

Redmires is one of just two sides left to have won all their games, but they were pushed all the way in a nine goal thriller at Brinsworth Whitehill. Brinsworth took the lead when Danny Marsden scored after charging down Carl Taylor’s clearance, and although Redmires levelled when Ben Palmer volleyed home after Dave Knaggs shot came back off the bar, Brinsworth were in front at half time thanks to Shaun Turner’s shot from the edge of the area.

Redmires record looked set to go when Marsden netted his second, but Palmer pulled another back with another volley and Joe Gray took Dale White’s pass in his stride to level. Palmer then completed his hat-trick to put Redmires in front for the first time and although Marsden completed his hat-trick at the back post, Shaun Turner went from hero to zero by putting the ball into his own net for Redmires winner.

Loxley were the day’s biggest scorers, beating Handsworth Old Boys 7-1. Jack Outhwaite on his debut grabbed two along with doubles for Josh Delaney and Lee Struggles, while the other came from a Chris Whalley header. Adam Travis netted Handsworth’s only consolation

During the first half, Malthouse would have had a hatful of goals had it not been for Aston Swallownest keeper Scott Hall and it took them until the second half before Matt Meaney finally broke the deadlock, but that seemed to sting Aston into life and the equalised through Billy Evans and had Malthouse hanging on for a point at the end.

Division 2 - Cooper does it just like that for Niagara -  In Division Two, a Daniel Cooper treble was just enough for Niagara to beat a Highfield Old Crown that possibly deserved to get something from the game. Two Cooper strikes either side of half time gave the home side the lead until Graham Swift pulled one back from the penalty spot and Craig Smith’s left foot hit a second into the bottom corner. At this point a shock looked on the cards, but Cooper beat the offside trap to round the keeper and net a winner that was very cruel on the visitors.

Nick Ash took his league goals tally to fourteen with two more as Bulls Head's came from behind to beat The Park. After fifteen minutes Ricky Green converted Ian Martin’s cross to put The Park ahead and with just ten minutes remaining it looked like they would hold on to it, but Bulls Head, driven on by Alan Mowforth finally made their pressure pay for Ash to first level and then put them ahead before Matt Coates sealed the three points from a game well refereed by Andy Scholey.

Owen Clarke was the star as Royal Oak also came from behind to win at Oughtibridge Village. When Liam Cavill lost his footing, Danny Hill pounced to give Village the lead midway through the first half, but Clarke was already causing them problems and when he was brought down in the area, up stepped Cole Starkes to draw Oak level before half time. Clarke then hit the bar before Lewis Barker hit a very rare volley into the bottom corner from the edge of the area to give Oak the lead, although he returned to form later by missing an open goal. Former Wednesday Academy player Simon Major was another causing Village problems, but he missed the chance to go on the scoresheet when he failed with a second penalty, but Oak did get a third when Barker sent Clarke racing through to score.

Throstles kept their impressive start going with a victory at Old Blue Ball. The home defence with John Heritage, Josh Jones and Liam Ryan all doing well made life difficult for Throstles, but they took the points with goals from Liam Bonnick and Joe Lawson.

7 Nov - CBC Premier - Leaders can't keep up with the Jones's and slip to first defeat

The big shock in the CBC Premier saw the leaders Ecclesfield 147 lose their unbeaten record at Hemsworth Villa thanks to a single Steve Jones goal (see picture extreme left. top). Ecclesfield knew it wouldn’t be easy as they had already been beaten by Villa in the Sunday Cup and with both sides working hard it proved to be a game of few chances. Only Tom Turner on his Villa debut went close in the first half, while Ecclesfield’s leading scorer Craig Senior had a chance saved by keeper Shayne Bennett in the second half. It proved a costly miss by Senior as soon after, Jones headed home a Scott Preece free kick to give Villa a second victory and ruin 147’s record.

Third place Civil Service couldn’t take advantage as they lost a first half lead at Pitsmoor Royal Oak and Service have now lost three out of their last four. Oak started quicker and should have taken the lead when Gavin Davis was brought down in the area by Ben Brown, but Carl Whitby produced a great save to deny Craig Graham and it looked as if the miss was going to prove even more costly when Tom Stubbs marked his debut for Service with a goal against the run of play.

The second half saw Luke Parwana almost level things up when he hit a post, but Pitsmoor weren’t to be denied for too long and Davis played a neat one-two with Leon Stocks before firing home the equaliser. Service were really under the cosh now so it was no surprise when Scott Szpajer (pictured right) rose to head Pitsmoor into the lead and thanks to a late save by Oak keeper Ryan Glaves, it proved to be the winner.

Handsworth WMC’s improvement continued as they also came from behind to beat Woodhouse Angel. Adam Dickinson gave Angel the lead, but Handsworth levelled when Robert Pratt crossed for Carl Eaton to head goalwards and Chris Towey couldn’t stop himself turning the ball into his own net. The second half saw Sean Simmonite put Andy Stevens through for him to give Handsworth the lead and Simmonite was the provider again for his brother Liam to double it. Kirk Briddon pulled one back for Angel, but James Leesley laid on a second for Liam Simmonite and Danny Leesley started the move that was finished off by Ryan Taylor for Handsworth’s fifth.

Division 1 - Roberts treble makes it a happy anniversary for Southey

In Division One, Brinsworth Whitehill missed the chance to go top when they twice let a lead slip before losing at fellow promotion challengers The Vine. Danny Marsden’s opener was cancelled out by Danny Seaman a minute before the break and even though Marsden put his side back in front, it was The Vine that were on top and they levelled a second time with a Will Blakeney free kick after Craig Woolley had been fouled on the edge of the area. Rikki Davidson then put The Vine ahead  and sub Andrew Marsh made the points safe from the edge of the area.

Southey Social will be able to celebrate one year unbeaten in the League after a Chris Roberts (pictured left) treble finally saw off a stubborn Malthouse. Roberts first came after just two minutes and he doubled Southey’s lead before half time with a spectacular overhead kick. Malthouse were the last team to beat Southey a year ago and they were back in it a minute after the break with a Paul Smith strike. Malthouse continued to press and deservedly levelled through Ian Sharland and at this point Southey’s chances of staying unbeaten looked shaky. They held their nerve though and a great solo effort by Rob Womack put Southey back in front before Roberts completed his hat-trick.

A David Sills (pictured right) double for Aston Swallownest saw them beat Rivelin and make it two wins on the trot. Both goals were very similar as he raced through to chip the keeper. Rivelin got back into it before half time when Andrew Coy netted on his debut, but with Adam Smith making sure the Aston defence stayed firm in the second half, the home side held on.

Division 2 - Stalemate for Fairbank & Niagara, but Bulls Head make no mistake

Although third place Niagara lost their perfect record, they will be happy to have come away from the Division Two leaders Fairbank Rhodes with a goalless draw. Fairbank’s Jon Tomlinson went closest in the first half when his effort rattled the bar, while Niagara had slightly the better of it in the second half, a man of the match performance by Fairbank’s Scott Abramski (pictured left) made sure they never really threatened to win it.

Second place Bulls Head didn't have any problem finding the net and a 7-0 win at Old Harrow took their season’s tally to 43 in just seven games. Tom Cocker started the rout and Mark Bryant soon headed a second. Nick Ash grabbed the first of his treble before half time and Alan Mowforth got on the scoresheet before an own goal rubbed salt into Old Harrow’s wounds.

Another hat-trick came from Throstles Liam Bonnick (pictured right) and it proved just enough to give his side victory and leapfrog over fellow promotion hopefuls Oughtibridge Village. Bonnick’s first two came either side of half time and he completed his hat-trick after James Baker had pulled one back for the visitors. Baker then netted his sixth goal in five games to set up a tense finish and Oughtibridge might have taken a point had Lee Smith’s effort gone in instead of hitting the woodwork.

Royal Oak dominated the early stages against Chapeltown RBL, but found themselves a goal down when Ben Palmer hit a real rocket from thirty yards. Oak stayed calm though and Carl Coult soon levelled with a shot that went in off the bar. Owen Clarke put Oak ahead before half time and one way traffic in the second half saw them add two more through Simon Major and Matt Dickinson.

Highfield Old Crown produced their best performance of the season to beat Junior Blades 4-2. A Gary Smith double together with one each for Gary Wilkins and skipper Kieran Wilson had Crown four in front before late goals from Jake Schofield and Tom Grapes made the game look closer than it was.

Macron Cup - Stirrup gives Steels a leg up

The battle of the two former holders saw Stocksbridge Park Steels come from behind to beat fellow CBC Premier side Stannington Village. Stannington looked to have put their recent poor league form behind them in the first half and took the lead when Dean Jepson’s cross was headed against his own bar by a defender and the ball dropped for Jack Mylnek to tap home.

Stocksbridge came out more determined for the second half and soon started to push the home side back, so it was no real surprise when Richard Stirrup netted his first cup goal for Steels. They were well on top by now and took the lead with a second from Stirrup and John Ward (pictured left) made it safe with an expertly taken third.

Division Two The Park looked set to cause a major upset at CBC Premier Laycock Sports when an  error by the home keeper allowed Lee Bridges to give The Park a tenth minute lead they still held at half time, but Laycocks stepped the pace up in the second half and quickly equalised when Sam Read headed Matt Edwards corner home. Man of the match Alex Napier then put Laycocks ahead from the penalty spot, before completing an impressive hat-trick with two superbly taken solo goals. There was still time after that for Laycocks skipper Steve Morris to add his side’s fifth.

Another CBC Premier side to hit five was last season’s finalists Woodhouse West End at Division One Loxley. David Haley gave West End the lead from the penalty spot after Ashleigh Atkins had been brought down and Spencer Taylor (pictured right) doubled their lead before half time. After the break, Taylor added his second before Dave Kippax scored a beauty, although his second soon after was down to a lot more luck than judgement.

The all-Division One clash at Anston Athletic saw their visitors, the Division One leaders Millhouses Thermolast, take their place in the next round after an eight goal thriller. An Ally Berry solo run ended with him giving Millhouses the lead, but Tom Gabbitas cancelled it out before half time when he followed up after keeper Mark Davies could only parry a shot to him.  Millhouses wasted no time in the second half before Danny Turner put them back in front before Danny Stuart robbed a defender to race away and score their third.

Aston responded with a Simon Herberts goal from the edge of the area, but Martin Hearneshaw scored his first goal for the club to restore Millhouses two goal lead. Anston got back in it again when keeper Davies was penalised for taking too long releasing the ball in his penalty area and when the ball was rolled into his path, James Lawton crashed it home, but the tie was finally settled with Hearneshaw’s second.
