27 FEB – SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP – Gamban beats the odds to send Boynton through – There is certain to be at least one Blades Super Draw League team in the Sunday Junior Cup Final after two Jake Gamban (pictured right) strikes helped Boynton Sports beat a Birdwell Rovers unbeaten in the Barnsley Premier League 3-0. The first half started as expected, both sides battling hard and not wanting to make any mistakes. It was a lot of percentage football and neither side attempted anything too creative which could lead to a mistake. The first goal came in this fashion. Curt Priday launched a throw in down the line and Ethan Wilkinson rolled his man before squaring it across the box and Gamban found the bottom corner on his supposed weaker right foot.

The second goal came soon after, and it was Gamban again who finished. Lee Jordan dribbled round several men and was fouled to win a free kick. Simon Marsden’s free kick came back off the bar to Marc Peacock on the byline and he back-healed it into the path of Gamban, who opened up and lifted it over the keeper from a tight angle. It became three when man-of-the-match Ben Jordan knocked a no nonsense clearance down the line and Wilkinson won several 50/50s with the Birdwell defence and keeper to eventually roll it into an empty net.

The second half was a story of missed chances and excellent defending and goalkeeping for both teams. Roan Heeley had a shot tipped over the bar and Adam Martin performed heroics of his own to keep Boynton’s three goal advantage. Peacock and  Ben Jordan missed open goals to make it safe, but it didn’t matter in the end as Boynton’s defence held firm. Boynton now join FC Inter and the winners of the twice delayed Brinsworth Whitehill v Cotts tie in the semi-finals, meaning the League will provide three of the four teams in the semi-finals. Brinsworth Whitehill and Cotts will have to try again next weekend.

27 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Hobson treble keeps Stannington in the title hunt – Charlie Hobson (pictured left) struck a hat-trick as Stannington Village kept their title hopes alive with a 6-2 victory at Civil Sports. Stannington took the lead when a cross from Shaun Flynn was flicked on by Jack Haslam for Charlie Hobson to tap home and Hobson soon added a second with a 20 yard strike into the top corner. A third came when Jack Holmes cut inside the box and bent the ball into the far corner and a fourth came when a weighted through ball from Jon Wall found Holmes and finished well in the bottom corner. It was 5-0 at half time after Hobson finished well with is left foot from just inside the box. Civil did much better after the break and pulled two back through Gary Eades and Delroy Elliott, but Stannington netted their sixth in the last few minutes when Haslam slid in Kosi Nwobi to finish at the second attempt.

Norton Sportsman stayed second as Brad Bowland netted twice in a narrow 3-2 win over Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. Pheasant struck first when a 50/50 ball fell kindly for Dan Callow to score, but Sportsman got back into the game before half-time when a cross-field ball found Anthony Holmes who finished well to equalise. A very scrappy second half followed but Sportsman got ahead when James Yeardley slotted a well weighted through ball to Brad Bowland who rounded the keeper and finished. Pheasant came back strong and they equalised through George Rudd. It looked like a it was going to finish all square until Justin Circuit found Bowland with a through ball and he finished well to steal all the points for Sportsman.

Handsworth Everest Inn lost ground after a 4-0 home defeat by relegation threatened Oughtibridge WM. Everest almost took the lead within 30 seconds when Sam Marsden hit the post and Marsden, Liam Greenfield, Phil Miskell and Lee Slingsby all either missed great chances or saw the Oughtibridge keeper pull off some great saves. Oughtibridge held on and grabbed a first half lead with a sweeping counter attack that saw Paul Cadman set up Adam Thomas to finish. The second half saw Matt Harrison break through to force an unreal save from the Everest keeper, but the ball fell to Jack Ridge, who smashed home from the edge of the box. The visitors third came when Harrison again broke through and this time finished well, before the fourth came when a corner fell for Harry Coy to poke home.

27 FEB – DIVISION 1 – Lees treble makes it 10 out of 10 for Inter – Chris Lees (pictured right) hit a hat-trick as Division One leaders FC Inter eased to a 4-0 victory over Southey Social to go seven points clear. Ben Southwell netted Inter’s other as they made it 10 wins out of 10.

Eckington reclaimed second place with a narrow 2-1 victory over Wadsley Jack Athletic. A bright start to the game saw Eckington take the lead when a ball into the box was not dealt with and Joe Harris was on hand to tap home into an empty net. The lead was soon doubled when a great pass out wide was fired into the box and turned home by Joe Renshaw. Wadsley grew into the second half and deservedly pulled a goal back close to the end when a long throw was flicked on and into the bottom corner by Reece James, but Eckington held on in the last few minutes to take the points.

Ross Lamkin scored twice on his debut to help Sheffield Sixs keep their promotion hopes alive with a 5-0 victory at Colley, Sixes got off to a flying start and piled on the pressure from the off. Within ten minutes Sixs took the lead when Liam Davies volleyed home from the edge of box. Colley weathered the storm, but on the stroke of half time Sixs got their second when Harry Buxton beat three defenders before curling the ball into the corner from outside the area. Soon after the break, Sixs put the game to bed when Aaron Buck scored a great solo goal. Colley huffed and puffed, but it was Sixs that added two more through Ross Lamkin on his debut to mirror the 5-0 defeat Colley had inflicted on them a month ago.

Just above Sixs is Intake Old Boys after a Jack Heald double helped them maintain their good form with a 4-2 home win over Southey Social. Bohemians started well and opened the scoring when James Hastings fired into the bottom corner from outside the area, but Intake levelled with a Julian Lawrence strike. Intake then went ahead with a Heald penalty, but it was Bohemians turn to level with a terrific individual goal from Dan White to send the teams in level at the break. Another Heald penalty put Intake back in front before a Reece Treasure strike sealed the points for Intake.

27 FEB – DIVISION 2 – Midge bites twice to keep Lion top, but RBL are held by Jubilee – With second place Chapeltown RBL being held 2-2 by Jubilee Sports, Division Two leaders Red Lion extended the gap to six points as a Sam Midgley (pictured left) double and single goals from Sam Roden and Daniel Nelson gave them to a 4-0 victory at Water Tower.

Chapeltown took the lead in the first half when Morgan Cowell volleyed from 30 yards in to the bottom corner, but Jubilee retaliated well and equalised when a good move was finished off by Lewis Smith. Chapeltown then re-took the lead in the second half when Dave Millen showed great composure to hit a half volley from the edge of the area. Jubilee then managed to get another equaliser coming when Alfie Smith produced a great header from a corner to take a share of the points.

Mosborough Reds fell further behind after two Dan Wood (pictured right) strikes helped Sheaf House to a surprise 4-1 victory over them, a result that lifted Sheaf off the bottom. Warwick Underhill put Sheaf ahead and Adam Wragg grabbed a second after a piece of pinball in the area. A goalkeeping error allowed Ash Sherritt to pull a goal back for Reds, but a penalty after the break gave Wood his first to put Sheaf back in control. Wood then netted his second to put a real dent into Reds promotion hopes.

22 FEB – Fixtures & Referees for MARCH – Fixtures and Referees for MARCH are now shown in the Fixtures section of the website. All home teams MUST make sure that their home pitch is available on all the dates shown. Please email Keith immediately if your pitch is not available on a date shown.

Any team that have opponents shown as "No game yet" should NOT assume that they will have no game on that date as we have often had to change fixtures at short notice as we try to get as many games played as possible. There is certain to be some changes during March due to Sunday Junior Cup ties, but we do not yet know which date(s) they will be played on.

All home clubs MUST also confirm the details with your referees and opponents for all dates shown as soon as they are shown. If you are having to kick-off at a time other than 11 am, you MUST make sure that both your referee, opponents and Keith are aware. The home clubs should later (the Tuesday before the game) ring the referee to make sure the referee has got all the details. If a referee says he cannot do a game listed for them, please notify Keith immediately.

Matches without referees must still go ahead and, if you have not been allocated a referee by the date of the game, the two clubs must agree on a stand-in 'referee' between them.  Although Keith will still be working to gain more referees, because we have a lower number of referees than in recent season, it is very likely that some games may not have an official referee allocated to them. If you find one yourself, will you let Keith know immediately please.

20 FEB – LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP – Semi- Final draw made at Bramall Lane – The League Twentytwo Cup semi-final draw was made by the Yorkshire Live’s Richard Sutcliffe and the Sheffield Star’s James Shield. The draw was: Royal Earl v Norton Sportsman and Handsworth Everest Inn v Wadsley Bridge Pheasant or Joker Wickersley Youth CC. Both ties will kick-off at 11 am on 3 April at the HSBC Sports Ground. If there is any clash of colours the first drawn team has the choice, so the second drawn team in each tie has to change unless otherwise agreed with the first drawn team.

20 FEB – SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP – Sargent wins his stripes to send Inter through – The only Sunday Junior Cup Quarter Final to survive the recent weather was FC Inter’s visit to fellow Division One Sheffield South and it saw Division One leaders FC Inter go through to the semi-finals with a hard earned 2-1 victory thanks to a Jordan Sargent (pictured right) winner in extra time. In very difficult conditions, both sides had early chances, but the first half stayed goalless. The deadlock was broken ten minutes into the second half when Sam Read hit his sixth goal of the competition. Sheffield South responded and poured forward and they finally gained their reward with just five minutes to go when Solly Limb struck their equaliser to send the game into extra time. It could have gone either way, but a twenty yard special by Sargent put Inter through to the semi-finals.

The other ties, Brinsworth Whitehill v Cotts and Birdwell Rovers v Boynton Sports, will have to try again next week.

20 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Oaks get their first point – The only CBC Premier game to survive the recent weather was Wadsley Bridge Pheasant’s visit to Norton Oaks and it saw Billy Ireland (pictured left) score twice to help Oaks take their first point of the season in a terrific 4-4 draw, although the draw did little to help either side’s survival hopes. Pheasant made the most of the wind at their backs in the first half and Jordan Stocks found the bottom corner with a free kick to put them ahead. Oaks keeper Will Salmon then made a terrific save only to see the ball fall kindly for Adam Askwith to double Pheasant’s lead. Lewis Fothergill then made a terrific run from midfield to add a third and seemingly put Pheasant on their way to three points, but Oaks had other ideas.

Oaks took advantage of the conditions by pressing Pheasant high up the pitch and they were soon rewarded when Ireland tapped home from Michael Peake’s corner. Oaks further reduced the arrears when a Will Carlisle free kick proved too powerful for the Pheasant keeper, but the game looked to be swinging Pheasant’s way when former Oaks striker Danny Reet hit their fourth with the help of a big deflection. Undeterred by that, Oaks continued to press forward and got their third when Peake played the ball into Ireland for him to find the bottom corner. More Oaks pressure got its reward when Pheasant didn’t clear a corner and Elliot Hall picked the ball up on the edge of the area before giving the keeper no chance with a near post shot. The only blot on a terrific game came late on when Pheasant’s Harry Holland landed awkwardly and suffered a dislocated knee.

20 FEB – DIVISION 1 – A Big win for Eckington and Phoenix come a Cropper at Bohemians – Just two Division One games survived and the first saw Eckington move back into the top three after a Danny Biggin (pictured right) strike gave them a 1-0 victory at promotion rivals Sheffield Sixs. After a goalless first half, the second half started with some great football from both side but either side struggled to test the keeper until the 65th minute when a defence splitting pass from Tom Gambles found Danny Biggin and his half volley found the net. Eckington almost doubled their lead when Owen Ryan beat the keeper but not the bar, but Biggin’s goal proved to be enough.

The other game saw Tom Cropper (pictured left) hit a hat-trick to help New Bohemians to a 5-3 home win over fellow strugglers Brinsworth Phoenix and move out of the bottom three. Phoenix took an early lead when Jake Slaughter put Dan Commander through to score, but the home side levelled before half-time when James Hastings put Cropper through one-on-one with the keeper and he made no mistake. Phoenix went back in front in the second half when Jack Hawkes scored with a bullet header from Dane Hodgson’s cross, but Bohemians quickly replied with Cropper firing home after a bit of pin-ball in the box. Hastings then put Bohemians in front with a free kick before and they doubled their lead when Hastings squared the ball for Cropper to complete his hat-trick. Bohemians made it completely safe when Will Butcher’s cross beat everyone to find the net, making Hawkes second of the game little consolation for Phoenix who are out of the bottom three on goal difference only.

20 FEB – DIVISION 2 – All games off – All the Division Two games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

13 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Mawbey stops Earl and Marsden double ends Crookes run – Royal Earl’s title chances took a blow when Norton Sportsman came from behind three times before beating them 4-3 with a Callum Mawbey (pictured right) strike. In difficult conditions, Earl started brighter of the two sides, but took the lead in bizarre fashion. Goalkeeper Tom Nolan took a free kick with the wind behind him and it beat everyone to fly into the net. Sportsman hit back and a Chris Lewis shot from the edge of the area levelled the scores. Earl went back in front with a Connor Chappell strike, but just before half-time a Lewis cross was met by Ant Holmes to level again and set up an exciting second half. Earl took the lead a third time when Sportsman failed to deal with a corner and James Archer sliced his clearance into his own net. Sportsman hit back a third time when skipper Lewis netted his second and then won it when Mawbey did well to hold off his man, before turning and smashing in a 20 yard screamer.

A Sam Marsden (pictured left) double helped Handsworth Everest Inn to a 3-1 victory over Crookes – a win that saw them climb to third. Crookes had a few chances early on, but none were on target and Everest took the lead when good work from Liam Greenfield found Ryan Goodinson out wide and his cross was side footed home at the back post for Marsden’s first. Everest got their second when Crookes were trying to play out from the back, but Goodinson intercepted and his pass found Liam Greenfield who fired the ball into the bottom corner from 15 yards. Everest almost grabbed a third before the break when Marsden raced away, but he hit his shot narrowly wide.

A minute into the second half and Everest got there third when Greenfield's pass found Marsden and he turned the defender before blasting into the goal from just inside the box. Greenfield then raced away from the defence but dragged his shot wide and a great run from right back Ross Whitehead saw him take on three defenders, but his shot was well saved by the Crookes keeper. Crookes put Everest under pressure in the last fifteen minutes and managed to pull a goal back through John Brelsford, but Handsworth stayed strong after that. The other CBC Premier games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

13 FEB – DIVISION 1 – Inter go further clear while Colley and Intake go goal crazy – A Sam Read (pictured right) double helped Division One leaders FC Inter to a 4-1 victory over a Sheffield South that started the day just a place behind and move six points clear. Goals from Read and Tom Turner gave Inter a deserved two goal lead at half-time. After the break, South hit back and deservedly pulled one back through Harry Pollard and they continued to take the game to the leaders, but Inter showed them how to finish as quick breaks saw Jordan Sargeant and Read added a third and fourth.

Colley went fourth as Chris Belshaw (pictured left) scored four times in a 10-0 victory over Wadsley Jack Athletic. Colley started brightly and after only seven minutes Chris Belshaw fired them into the lead. Within 15 minutes a Steve Dickinson double had given Colley a 3-0 lead and they added a fourth through Belshaw, before Jamie Rodgers volleyed Colley into a 5-0 half-time lead. With the game won and a few Colley players going to the Owls match, Colley made a few changes, but the goals still kept coming, with Billy Thorley, Joe Woodhouse and Christopher Onjia all finding the net before Belshaw added his third and fourth.

Belshaw was outscored by Intake Old Boys’ Sam Morley (pictured right) as he hit five in Intake’s 10-3 win over Cotts. New signing Brad Jones celebrated his first game with a hat-trick and Harry Chamberlin and Jack Heald got Intake’s others. Chris Salt with two and Michael Blythen with one netted Cotts’ replies.

6 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Wham Bram as Earl thump Dronfield and it’s elementary for Holmes – Royal Earl is emerging as the main title contenders to leaders Joker after Steve Brammer (pictured left) scored four in Earl’s 6-0 victory over AFC Dronfield. The match was played in horrific conditions, but both teams tried their best to overcome it. It was a fully deserved victory for Earl with Joe Pearson and Alex Rippon adding their others. The win moved Earl up to third, nine points behind Joker, but with three games in hand.

Second place Norton Sportsman also made up some ground on Joker as Ant Holmes (pictured right) hit a hat-trick in their 8-1 victory in the Norton derby over Oaks. Ant Holmes opened the score with a cross that found its way into the goal. Matt Ord scored a minute after his introduction from the bench to double their lead, with both James Archer and Ord’s second from James Yeardley’s through ball making it four by half time. After the break, Joe Muress put a great cross in for Holmes to score his second at the back post and another Muress cross was finished well by Harry Mitchell to make it six. Oaks had made chances of their own and finally finished one when Oliver West put Andy Glossop through to beat a defender and the keeper, but Sportsman were much more clinical and Josh Gibson added a seventh before Muress supplied his fourth assist to enable Holmes to complete his hat-trick and the scoring.

Michael Vella struck twice in Crookes’s 3-2 victory over a Handsworth Everest Inn now above them on goal difference only. After the Crookes keeper had made a good save from Sam Marsden, Pete Smith and Vella gave Crookes a two goal lead, but five minutes from half time Liam Greenfield curled a free kick into the top corner from the edge of the box to put Everest back in the game. After the break a goalmouth scramble allowed Lou Jackson to fire home from ten yards to level the scores.  Everest’s Ryan Goodinson then hit the post with a shot from 15 yards and Everest then had a shout for a penalty turned down. Crookes then hit Everest on the break and Vella put them back in front. Everest keeper Tom Crosby (pictured left) then pulled off three unbelievable saves before nearly scoring from a long clearance that the Crookes keeper just managed to palm the ball over the bar. Stannington’s home game with Civil Sports was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

6 FEB – DIVISION 1 – Inter go further clear as Eckington gain revenge over South – Division One leaders FC Inter moved five points clear with a second victory in eight days over New Bohemians. In a close first half, Sam Read gave Inter the lead, before Sam Brown levelled for the home side. The second half saw Inter go back in front with a Lewis Whitaker (pictured right) penalty and after both sides had missed chances, Richard Hirst netted a third for Inter to make the game safe.

Second place Sheffield South failed in their chance to do the same with Eckington as their visitors turned the tables on them with an emphatic 6-1 win. In a good start from both teams Sheffield South took the lead through Tom Davis when a short corner was curled into the top corner. The lead didn’t last long as Pat Stothard equalised with a cool finish from close range and just before half time Eckington took the lead when a deep corner was headed home at the back post by Mitch Walker. After the break Eckington extended their lead in with a great strike from Joe Renshaw into the top corner and soon after Harry Bell fired their fourth into the bottom corner. Ben Renshaw’s header from a corner made it five before Ethan Flower strike from the edge of the box completed the scoring.

Sheffield Sixs, with a Harry Buxton (pictured left) treble moved away from the danger zone with a 3-0 victory over in-form Intake Old Boys and Colley did the same as two Chris Belshaw goals gave them a 2-1 victory at Southey Social. A Jack Appleyard strike gave Southey a half-time lead, but  mid-way through the second half Colley was awarded a penalty which Belshaw smashed in to level the scores. With the game heading for a draw Colley broke with two minutes to go and a terrific defence splitting pass saw Belshaw fire in to give Colley the points. Cotts home game with Boynton Sports was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

6 FEB – DIVISION 2 – Whitehill have a Good-win and Johnson has a party at Beighton – Brinsworth Whitehill got their title bid back on track as skipper Cory Goodwin’s hat-trick helped them to victory over Sheaf House. Brinsworth started brightly with winger Drew Houghton causing havoc down the right and side, but both he and Matt Claxton missed good chances. Brinsworth did finally get their noses in front before half time when Houghton crossed for Goodwin to fire home. Sheaf started the second half brightly and when Brinsworth conceded a silly free kick at the edge of the area, Dan Wood hit it beautifully to leave Brinsworth keeper Jon Reed with no chance. Brinsworth went back in front when substitute Brad Carroll tapped home after being set up by Houghton, but Sheaf hit back again and Wood took advantage of a mix up to level the scores a second time. Brinsworth went ahead a third time when good work by Calum Worthington set Goodwin for his second and they extended their lead when Houghton squared for Carroll to claim his second of the game. Goodwin (pictured right) rounded off the scoring with a brilliant solo effort to complete his first ever hat-trick.

Beighton Magpies celebrated their fourth home win of the season out of just six games, after a single Tom Johnson (pictured left) headed goal gave them a third successive home win and revenge for their defeat by Renegade the week before. Chapeltown RBL’s home game with Jubilee was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

6 FEB – LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP – It’s no for Joker and Pheasant – The last of the League Twentytwo Cup quarter finals was postponed yet again.
