9 NOV - Leading Scorers update see Whiting topping the charts again - The Leading Scorers have been updated and it shows that last season's Leading Scorer, Redmires striker, Tom Whiting (left) is again at the top of the both the CBC Premier and League charts with 17 goals. Since joining Redmires in 2017, Whiting has now scored 86 goals in just 62 games and, after topping the CBC Premier charts for the previous three seasons, he looks set to make it four in a row. He has scored in all of Redmires' games so far this season and his total includes hat-tricks in each of Redmires' first four games and four against Oughtibridge WM in Redmires last game before the lock-down. The only other CBC Premier striker to reach double figures is Civil Sports' Jordan Turner with 10 - a good return considering Civil are newly promoted to the top flight. In third place in the CBC Premier is Wadsley Bridge Pheasant's Adam Askwith, but he is a further four behind Turner. One of the reasons that Crookes FC currently lead the CBC Premier table is that they have had ten different scorers and their total of 20 has helped take the CBC Premier total to 165 goals from 35 games.

Division One has produced 192 goals in just 38 games and the division's current leading scorer is Brinsworth Phoenix's Jack Hawkes (right) with 8 goals. He was Division Two's leading scorer with 24 goals last season and although he will do well to reach anywhere near that total again this season, he has shown he can still find the net at the higher level. He is just one clear of three players who have scored a goal per game, or better, Jake Gamban of Boynton Sports, Ryan Damms of Southey Social and Tom Gambles of an Eckington BFC that is currently Division One's joint highest scorers with 25. Also on 25 is Handsworth Inn Pub, but their tally has been spread among 10 different scorers. Another to average a goal per game is Division One leaders Cotts FC's Michael Blythen, who's six goals took him to 100 for the club - a milestone they marked by presenting him with a tankard (right).

Division Two has produced the most goals so far this season, with a total of 251 from just 44 games. It's no surprise that leading the way on 11 each is Brinsworth Whitehill's Matt Claxton(1st left) and Renegade Football's Matt Jacobs (2nd left) as both Brinsworth Whitehill and Renegade are the League's current top scorers with 37 each, and both teams average more than five goals per game. Three behind them on eight is another Renegade striker, Marcus Gordon and a further one behind him on seven is another Brinsworth Whitehill striker, Mike Hare. Another striker on seven is Mosborough Reds' Josh Smith, whilst a further one behind is Division Two leaders Nether Green's Tom Davis and Beighton Magpies' Matt Dickinson with six each.

8 NOV - The season so far - With grassroots football suspended it gives us a chance to look at how the Blades Super Draw League is going so far. Although Crookes FC currently head the CBC Premier table by three points, it is extremely close. Two former champions, Stannington Village and Wadsley Bridge Pheasant are just behind Crookes and should all the teams in the top eight win their games in hand we could have just four points separating all eight. Included in those is reigning champions Redmires, whose total of 30 goals include 17 from leading scorer Tom Whiting. Another of the seven is Wickersley Youth and their strength has been their defence which has conceded just six goals, but their problem is that they have scored just 8 goals and only the bottom two have scored fewer. Civil Sports were promoted last season and they are making a real go of their return to the top flight and shown they are capable of beating anyone. Norton Sportsman was the last to lose their unbeaten record and although Royal Earl are currently in eighth place, they are the only team to have beaten Crookes this season. At the foot of the table it is looking bleak for the bottom three of Cobden View, Oughtibridge WM and Norton Oaks as they have managed just two points and fourteen goals between them.

In Division One, Cotts FC are the leaders after winning all their games so far and they look a very good bet to regain their place in the CBC Premier that they lost last season. In second place at the moment is Eckington BFC. After promotion last season, it is their first season in the division and providing that all football is allowed after the lockdown, they look to have a good chance of a second successive promotion. Another club relegated last season, Handsworth Inn Pub, is third and they have a three point cushion over fourth place Boynton Sports. Last season's Division Two champions have found it perhaps harder than they expected, but their young side will quickly learn from their first season at this level and they could yet mount a promotion challenge. Cotts apart, it looks like it's a division where anyone can beat anyone and even the clubs in the bottom three still can't be discounted for a place in the top three if they can put a run together.

Division Two is full of goals with over 250 scored in the 44 games played so far. It has almost split itself into two though with fifth place Jubilee Rangers in their first season in the league, currently enjoying a five point cushion over the clubs below them. Nether Green lead the table after winning all their games so far, but close behind is Brinsworth Whitehill and the unbeaten Renegade Football, and, even at this early stage, those three look almost certain to fill the top three spaces. Between them they have scored 105 goals, whilst conceding just twenty and it's that power at both ends of the pitch that looks likely to carry them to promotion. Only Jubilee and Mosborough Reds look capable of crashing the party, but the top teams know they can't take any liberties with most of the clubs below them.

3 NOV - Grassroots football suspended - The FA has announced that, in line with the Government's recent announcement, all Grassroots football is suspended for the next four weeks at least. The League has notified all its clubs and November referees that no games can take place until The FA say we can. We will notify everyone when we can re-start. We will prepare and publish fixtures for December so that we can get going immediately should the announcement that we can re-start is made.
