27 JAN - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Southey Social to host Crookes in Semi-Final - Our two remaining clubs left in the Sunday Junior Cup have been drawn to play each other in the semi-final, with Southey Social, trying to reach the final for a second time, playing host to fellow Division One side Crookes FC. The main plus to the draw is that it means that for the fifth time in the last six seasons there will be a Blades Super Draw League side in the final.

27 JAN - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant fly to the top again, but Stannington bend to Youth - With Redmires not in action, Wadsley Bridge Pheasant went back to the top of the CBC Premier Division with a 5-2 victory over Renishaw Rangers. Lewis Twibell opened the scoring before Luke Beedham netted his first of the game to put the home side two goals ahead at half time. Further goals from Joe Slater and Beedham again extended it to four before James Savage reduced the arrears with a long range free-kick. Skipper Andy Dawson got in on the act with Pheasant’s fifth but Renishaw had the last say with a superb twenty-yard volley from left back Ryan Hancock.

Had Pheasant failed to win, Stannington Village could have gone top themselves but their title bid took a bit of a jolt as they slipped to a 3-1 loss at relegation threatened Wickersley Youth. Piers Bond’s second goal in as many games gave Stannington the lead with a cross-cum-shot but the home side levelled when Ben Thornton dispossessed a Stannington defender before rounding the keeper to restore parity. The home side took the lead when Jordan Thomas’ right wing cross was bundled home at the far post by Thornton and secured the points when a driving run from Kris Lee-Green saw him pull the back from the Stannington by-line for Jordan Radford to hammer a left foot shot into the net.

Still on the fringes of the title race are David Hudson’s Oughtibridge WM as they saw off bottom placed Chapeltown RBL 4-0 at the War Memorial Ground. Chas Tunnard, one a penalty, and Matt Harrison both netted braces against a Legion side that are now an astonishing eleven points away from the safety margin.

Norton Sportsman produced a sensational comeback to take the points from Intake Old Boys as they came out on the right side of a seven goal thriller. Joe Turner, with a double, and Mark West had the Old Boys three goals to the good inside the first quarter of an hour but Harry Mitchell’s deflected effort reduced it to 3-1 at half time. Montelle Kamara made a one goal game ten minutes into the second half and the scores were level five minutes later when Brad Bowland (right) converted a penalty. The winner came with fifteen minutes to go, Sportsman captain Chris Lewis with a wonderful curling effort which gave the Intake keeper no chance whatsoever.

That loss saw Intake tumble into the bottom three after Handsworth Old Crown helped their own relegation battle with a 3-0 home success against Woodseats Club. Crown opened the scoring when some great work down the left from Luke Fletcher left Bjorn Taylor with a tap-in. Former Crown stalwart James Leesley had the best chance for Club to level but he failed to convert, and two well taken goals in the second half from Fletcher secured the win; meaning that Danny Leesley would have the bragging rights over his brother.

27 JAN - DIVISION 1 - Cobden enjoy the View over Crookes - Forum still look very good value for promotion to the top flight as they overcame Ranch 5-2. Antony Holmes hit a hat-trick for the home team whilst man of the match Matty Ord and Andy Harrison also netted for the Division One leaders, Ranch did manage to round up two goals of their own though thanks to Josh Evans and Matt Jacobs. Crookes title hopes took a hit when they suffered a surprise 2-1 home loss by Cobden View. Crookes should have known as their visitors beat the leaders Forum just two weeks ago and Cobden’s debutant Sam Porter handed them the lead when he latched onto a through ball to net before it was doubled by Tim Pitt with a far post header. Andy Parkin got Crookes within one goal almost immediately, but Cobden defended resolutely to take three superb points.

Crookes’ loss proved to be Cotts gain as they took second place with a 4-2 win at Norton Oaks B. Theo Wilson (right) was the man behind it with a double with Nick Haywood and Michael Blythen also finding the back of the Oaks net. Oaks did make a go of it and had led 2-1 at the interval thanks to a Conor Rogers brace until Cotts produced their comeback and leave the home side empty handed. It wasn’t a good day for the other Oaks side as they crashed 8-0 to title challengers Royal Earl. Sam Smith and Steve Brammer lorded it with two goals apiece whilst Mike Towey, Richard Tootle, Sam Fewkes and Olly Beaumont also netted, with Beaumont’s superb solo effort being the pick of the bunch as he ran from just outside his own penalty area to carve his way through the visiting defence and add the coup de grace.

27 JAN - DIVISION 2 - Boynton have a Ball to strengthen their grip on promotion, but the top two also win - Eddie Parker hit a double for Division Two leaders Sheffield Sixs as they stayed at the summit after a 5-2 home win over Brinsworth Phoenix and they are looking good for promotion at the first attempt. Former Wadsley Bridge Pheasant striker Danny Barnsley also found the back of the Phoenix net as did Matt Coyle and Nathan Zielosko whilst Phoenix markers were both from long range with Curtis Gregory finding the top corner and Liam Jacobi hitting a free-kick from fully thirty-five yards out.

Staying in touch with the leaders are Mosborough Whites as they swept Woodseats Chantrey aside with a 6-1 home success. Luke Walker (left) bagged a hat-trick for Whites whilst Jack Bennett, Liam Riley and a penalty from Morgan Foy completed the home scoresheet, Chantrey’s sole reply came from Spencer Russell who picked up a Barry Chan lay off to chip the Whites keeper from forty yards out and bring the visitors level before the hosts stepped it up. The big game of the day in division saw Boynton prevent free-scoring Colley from scoring for the first time this season thanks to Jake Ballinger’s (right) hat-trick and keep them in a promotion place.

Woodhouse Juniors are starting to string a good sequence of results together at the moment, and they are on the fringes of the promotion race after a 2-1 win at Cadbury. Tom Bland bagged both goals for Woodhouse whilst Michael Taylor netted for Cadbury who also missed a penalty and were denied a second one late in the game. An understrength Beighton Magpies were unseated in their game at Wadsley Horse and Jockey as the hosts rode away with a 6-2 win. Reece James and Dale Watts both hit two goals apiece whilst George Scott and Sam Rollitt also netted; with Stefan Hadfield and a first ever team goal from Luke Sargison being Magpies’ markers.

Civil Sports B are still awaiting that first win of the season as they were defeated 5-1 at Shakey. Billy Hilbert starred with a treble for the home side whilst Armstrong and Wes Fidler completed a nap hand against a Civil side whose only solace came from an improved second half and a Ben Firth strike.

23 JAN - Fixtures and Referees for FEBRUARY 2019 now added - The Fixtures and Referees for FEBRUARY 2019 have now been added to the website. Home clubs should contact their opponents and Referees where shown ASAP.

20 JAN - CBC PREMIER - Redmires Reet back on top - With CBC Premier leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant not in action, there was a huge chance for Redmires to replace them at the summit and Dave Knaggs’ team didn’t disappoint as they recorded a comprehensive 8-2 home success over a Wickersley side that must be casting eyes over their shoulders as they face being drawn into a relegation scrap. Former Sheffield Wednesday, Mansfield Town and Rochdale striker Danny Reet left) led the way with a hat-trick whilst Jake Gamban, Andy Bath, Jon Wall, Jake Schofield and Ross Thompson also found the net. Wickersley did achieve some respectability in the end as Brad Carroll and Michael Cuckson netted consolation strikes in a game they will quickly want to forget about.

Closing in on both Pheasant and Redmires are defending champions Stannington Village as they came from behind to record a 4-1 win at Woodseats Club. Nick Owen gave Club the early advantage when he flicked home a long throw but this seemed to galvanise Village as Piers Bond, Dean Jepson and Lewis Dickinson all forced good saves from the home custodian. The equaliser did eventually come when Dan Green headed Dickinson’s corner at the far post and Dickinson was again the provider for goal number two; another corner and this time Bond headed in. A route one goal produced number three, a long goal kick from Callum Lee being flicked onto Shaun Flynn who smashed the ball home and the win was secured in the dying embers of the game when a fast break saw Jimmy Middleton’s cross end up in the net via a Club defender.

Hanging in there are both Oughtibridge WM and Norton Sportsman as both recorded stunning away wins. Oughtibridge deepened Handsworth Old Crown’s relegation fears with a 6-1 away win with Matt Harrison and Chas Tunnard (right) both hitting doubles. Strachan Sampson also got on the scoresheet whilst an own goal made it six; Handsworth’s sole reply came from Kieran Gallagher. Norton Sportsman also deepened their own opponents fears with a 4-2 win at bottom placed Chapeltown RBL. Brad Bowland opened the scoring from the penalty spot after handball and then Joe Muress added a second from close range. Legion then surprised their higher placed visitors when Sam Walch and debutant Lee Ball netted either side of the half time interval; Ball scoring with an excellent free kick. Bowland netted a second penalty to put Sportsman back in front before Jack Waymouth sealed the points with a late fourth.

Renishaw Rangers gave their own relegation escape bid a major boost when they overturned a deficit to record a 2-1 win against Intake Old Boys in the CBC Premier’s final game. Joe Turner gave Intake the lead midway through the first half when he was first onto a through ball, and then chipped the home keeper from distance. The game had just ten minutes left to play when Renishaw levelled matters, top scorer Robin Holmes taking advantage a poor Intake defensive clearance to fire home into the far corner and then five minutes later, Renishaw grabbed the winner when more defensive frailties from Intake saw Ricky Lacey-Hatton land the knockout punch with a shot from the edge of the box.

20 JAN - DIVISION 1 - Southey hold up Crookes to let Forum get away and Earl Ripp into Reds - After suffering only their second league loss last week, Division One leaders Forum got back to winning ways with a 5-0 win over relegation threatened Norton Oaks B. Matty Ord and Lou Jackson both starred with a brace apiece whilst Antony Holmes completed the nap hand against a plucky Oaks who had efforts hitting the bar and cleared off the goal line.

Second place Crookes lost ground after a 1-1 draw with Southey Social. Ryan Damms broke the Crookes offside trap to put the home team ahead but that seemed to act as a catalyst for the visitors as they pushed for a leveller. Some stoic defending and a brilliant save from Southey keeper Nathan Stovold seemed to have held Crookes away until Daniel Flynn broke their resistance. Both teams went for a winner after that but ended up with a point apiece in a game referee Craig Grundy described as “a fantastic game of football”.

Cotts are now level on points with Crookes after a 4-2 home success over a Civil Sports A side now in the bottom three. Michael Blythen led the way for the winners with a hat-trick whilst Jon Dolan also found the net, Civil’s efforts in a close game coming from Zak Fleming-Wright and Andrzej Gordon-Hides.

On the fringes of the promotion spots are Royal Earl as they went into seventh heaven with a 7-0 away success at Mosborough Reds. Alex Rippon grabbed a treble and Mike Towey bagged a double as Earl moved within four points of third with games in hand. Olly Beaumont and Richard Tootle also found the net with four of the seven coming in seven crazy minutes as the game entered its final stages. Ranch rounded up visitors Cobden View 3-1 to rise two places in the league standings thanks to an Alex Cowlishaw double and one from Alex Mosley, Will Cutler scoring Cobden’s sole effort during their best period of the game.

20 JAN - DIVISION 2 - It's "Hola" to Jorge as a Barnsley treble keeps Sixs on top, but the chasers all win as well - Danny Barnsley took his season's tally to sixteen with a hat-trick in Division Two leaders' Sheffield Sixs 4-1 victory at Cadbury, in a game that saw a new first for the league as it was refereed by Spanish referee Jorge Vega Alvarez. Jorge, who is fluent in English, is studying at Sheffield University and has been a referee in Spain for about 8 years. This game was his first in England and he did a great job, with the players responding well to him.

Harry Buxton set the tone with a goal after just twenty seconds and Barnsley hit his first just two minutes later. Barnsley netted his second from the penalty spot before half time and completed his hat-trick after the break. Jacob Beech provided consolation for Cadbury with a penalty of their own and they can take some comfort that they made the leaders work hard after such a disasterous start. More pictures from the game are below.

Mosborough Whites stayed in contention with a win by the odd goal in five at Beighton Magpies. Julian Lawrence scored twice for the Whites whilst Levi Williamson added the other against a Magpies side that were always in the game and netted through a Lee Hackett wonder strike and Dale Featherstone whose late second had Whites hanging on for the points. Boynton Sports stay third after a 3-1 win at Brinsworth Phoenix, Jake Ballinger at the double for the visitors who have a couple of games in hand on the leaders whilst former Stannington Village defender Marc Peacock also found the net for Boynton; Jack Hawkes grabbed Phoenix’s consolation effort.

Free scoring Colley bagged another five goal haul and three more points for their promotion bid with a 5-1 success at Shakey. Danny Parker scored twice whilst there were additional strikes from a Chris Belshaw screamer, Chris Onija and debutant Kieron Goff. An own goal provided by Colley was Shakey’s only marker. Civil Sports B are still searching for their first win of the season as they succumbed to a 3-1 loss at Woodhouse Juniors. Ben Firth netted for Civil but they were undone thanks to goals from Leon Cheslett, George Leesley and Tom Bland.

Woodseats Chantrey unseated Wadsley Horse and Jockey in Division Two’s final game, riding away to a 6-2 win. Chantrey went ahead in the fourth minute when Kurtis Berry's cross was finished by stand-in skipper, and man of the match, Aaron Watts, but their second didn't come until five minutes before the break when Berry collected a perfectly weighted pass down the left before bombing on and beating the keeper to his far post. Their third came just after half time when Matt Brookfield dashed down the wing and crossed for Watts to net his second. Jockey his back though and after Reece James lobbed the keeper to make it 3-1, a penalty award allowed George Scott to net their second. A minute later a Brookfield corner saw Dan Neilson rise highest to make it 4-2 and Luke Glaves and Luke Simmonds combined to set up Brad Gray to scorer with a curling shot from 25 yards. The scoring was completed when the keeper fumbled a Rhys Oaks through ball and Simmonds snapped up the chance into the open net.

13 JAN - TWENTYTWO CUP - Sam’s the man as Royal Earl end Boynton's run - The last of the League Twentytwo Cup cup quarter finals saw Boynton Sports giantkilling run brought to a shuddering halt, 8-1 by Royal Earl. Earl had the tie won by the half time mark as they netted through Sam Smith, Olly Beaumont, Alex Rippon and Jonathan Williams. They added another four in the second half with Smith completing a hat-trick plus additional strikes from Mike Towey and Richard Tootle. Boynton were, by their own admission, never at the races but goalkeeper Adam Martin did manage to get them on the scoresheet with a wind assisted goal kick. The result puts Earl into the semi-finals for the first time along with fellow Division One clubs Forum and Crookes FC, and CBC Premier Handsworth Old Crown.

13 JAN - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant stay on top, but the chasers both win, whilst Wickersley out of the danger zone - CBC Premier Division leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant still head the pack in the top flight as they overcame Intake Old Boys 2-1. They took the lead when the Old Boys custodian gifted Joe Slater a chance and he needed no further invitation to open the scoring. The lead was doubled when Lewis Fothergill produced a great run and cross for Adam Askwith (left) to net the second. Jonny Roper pulled one back for Intake with a deflected free-kick five minutes from the end but Pheasant saw it out for another three point haul.

Waiting in the wings for Pheasant to slip up are Redmires, even though they have played a game more. They came away from a testing away trip to Oughtibridge WM having come from behind to record a 2-1 success. Chas Tunnard gave the home side the lead when he converted from a great cross by Wilson Coupe. The same player could have had a hat-trick if he hadn’t spurned a one on one and hit the bar in separate chances before a well worked team saw Redmires equalise just before half time through Jon Wall (right). Matt Harrison clipped the Redmires crossbar for a second time in the game but Jake Schofield grabbed the game winner for Redmires with a thunderbolt that ripped into the home net.

Another team waiting for a slip up, but with games in hand, are defending champions Stannington Village as they dispatched a Renishaw Rangers side now seven points from the safety margin. Playing with the wind in that opening half, Stannington took the lead when Lewis Dickinson’s corner was chested home at the far post by Lee Johnstone and then Dickinson himself grabbed the second after good play involving Shaun Flynn and Charlie Hobson. Straight after the interval, Village added a third when Johnstone crossed and Flynn volleyed in for a landmark century of goals for the club. The scoring was complete when Johnstone again turned provided and Dickinson drilled in his second of the game past Renishaw stand-in keeper and top scorer Robin Holmes.

Norton Sportsman and Woodseats Club stay mid-table after shaking hands and sharing a 2-2 draw. Tom Brightmore opened the scoring for Club when they took advantage of a quickly taken free-kick to net, but Sportsman levelled straight after the interval when Montelle Kamara (left) reacted first after the Woodseats keeper could only parry his initial shot. The former Renishaw Rangers striker was again in the thick of it and it was he who was upended for a penalty which Brad Bowland netted from for Sportsman’s second. Club ensured a share of the spoils ten minutes from time, when Russ Westby netted from a set piece.

The last CBC Premier Division game saw a home success as Wickersley recorded a 4-0 victory against bottom placed Chapeltown RBL. Brad Carroll had setup Joe McGuinness for the game’s opening goal before Legion’s task became even harder on the ten minute mark when stalwart goalkeeper Joe Hindmarch was dismissed for a professional foul as Carroll broke clear. Ben Thornton and Kris Lee-Green added further first half goals as the home side made the numerical advantage take effect and the win was secured when Carroll netted the fourth made one of the many second half chances count.

13 JAN - DIVISION 1 - Top two both beaten and Oaks A move up  -  Division One leaders Forum suffered what was only their second league loss of the season when Cobden View produced a superb home performance to win 3-2. Cobden opened the scoring early in the game when Ben Bell was brought down in the area, and Adam Beresford made no mistake from twelve yards. The home side continued to assert their control and after creating numerous chances, Tim Pitt (right) flicked home the second from a corner. After Forum had come out more determined in the second half, Cobden produced a sweeping team move which resulted in Calum McCrury tucking away number three. Joseph Thompson and player-manager Jamie Smith pulled goals back for the leaders but Cobden held on for a fantastic victory.

Moving into second place are Crookes FC as they leapfrogged previous incumbents Cotts FC 3-1 as they, like Forum, look for a second successive promotion. Daniel Flynn scored a brace and Joel Purkiss added another to give the home side the points; with Jon Dolan scoring Cotts’ sole response. Norton Oaks A edged past a Mosborough Reds side still looking for their first win of the season, John Rossiter with the sole strike that divided the sides, whilst Norton Oaks B and Southey Social were goalless in their game.

13 JAN - DIVISION 2 - Sweet revenge for Sixs, and Whites move up, but Colley and Woodhouse stalemate  - It’s looking good for Sheffield Sixs in Division Two as they remain six points clear at the head of it after coming from behind to see off Woodseats Chantrey 7-1. Chantrey are the only team to have beaten Sixs so far this season and despite Chantrey’s plans being disrupted before kick-off when their regular keeper was taken ill and caused a reshuffle they made the perfect start when Aaron Watts’ looping ball over the top was collected by Luke Simmonds who lobbed the Sixs keeper. Sixs looked determined to make sure they didn’t slip up a second time and Liam Davies equalised for after sixteen minutes and after that the home side never looked back with Danny Barnsley and forty-seven year old Simon Howe (left) both scoring hat-tricks.

Mosborough Whites consolidated their second place with a 6-2 home win over a Cadbury side who, despite playing their best football for a while, are slipping away from the promotion race. Luke Walker and Jack Bennett both scored twice, whilst Chris Calcott and Levi Williamson also netted. Cadbury’s efforts came from Dan Kelly and Ben Bottomley. With Boynton in Cup action, Colley could have gone third but they had to share the spoils with Woodhouse Juniors in a 2-2 draw. Faisal Miladi gave Colley the lead with a well taken far post finish after a great team move but Woodhouse levelled with a similar one of their own, Dan Lockwood converting. Leon Cheslett put the visitors ahead and it looked like being the winner until Danny Parker smashed in a ferocious effort five minutes from time that even a Woodhouse defender couldn’t keep out on the line.

Shakey gave Wadsley Horse and Jockey an uncomfortable ride as they recorded a 3-2 success against them. Lewis Smith and Reece James scored for Jockey but they were unseated by efforts from Wesley Fidler, James Marston and game winner Tom Fullelove whilst Shakey custodian Tom Jeffries also saved a Jockey penalty. Civil Sports and Brinsworth Phoenix shared the points and six goals in the division’s final game at Green Lane, Lewis Yates bagging a hat-trick for Civil whilst Daniel Commander, Brad Beedham and Jack Hawkes hit the back of the net for Phoenix.

9 JAN - Woodseats Chantrey set for Radio Sheffield - At the start of 2019, Radio Sheffield launched a new feature on their Football Heaven show which adopts a grassroots team each weekend to be their TEAM OF THE WEEK and this weekend it is our Division Two outfit, Woodseats Chantrey. Radio Sheffield will follow their progress this weekend  and afterwards do a live chat on their Football Heaven show. Chantrey's currently injured goalkeeper James Rossey will first be on Football Heaven tomorrow, Thursday, between 6:15 & 6:30 and this will then be followed up with a further interview after the team has played, probably the following Tuesday, 15 Jan. This is an opportunity any club can take advantage of - all you have to do is email footballheaven@bbc.co.uk with details about your team, including a contact phone number, to get involved.

6 JAN - Clubs pay their respects to Ken Fetch - All Blades Super Draw League clubs playing this weekend paid their respects to former League President and founder, Ken Fetch. Pictured are Cotts FC and their opponents Norton Oaks A and Mosborough Whites and their visitors Boynton Sports.

6 JAN - CBC PREMIER - Slater leaves it late to send Pheasant back to the top, but Oughtibridge's chances go West - There are new leaders at the top of the CBC Premier after a last gasp Joe Slater strike gave Wadsley Bridge Pheasant’s 2-1 victory at Woodseats Club. In a game that Ken Fetch would have been proud to witness, after a few missed chances, Josh Statham eventually gave Pheasant a half time lead, but Woodseats levelled after the break with a Lewis Whittaker penalty. Both sides went all out for a winner, but in the final minute Pheasant’s stand-in keeper Luke Beedham completed his man-of-the-match performance with a terrific save to stop Woodseats taking the points and Pheasant went straight down to the other end and took the points themselves when Slater flicked the ball home.

Oughtibridge WM slipped a place after losing 3-1 at home to an Intake Old Boys determined to climb away from the bottom three. Intake’s keeper had had to make good saves to stop both Ross Brown and Chas Tunnard giving Oughtibridge the lead, but he could do nothing to stop Matt Harrison from finishing a great solo effort to give the home side the lead. It was cancelled out before half time when Mark West fired home after the defence failed to clear. Intake took the lead when Jamie Roper chested a cross down for West to score his second. After the Intake keeper made more saves, worse was to come for the home side when Jonny Roper found the top corner with a 25 yard free kick to seal the points for the visitors and take them four points clear of the drop zone. Action from the game is below - pictures by Ian Revitt.

It's not looking too good for Chapeltown RBL though as the bottom club lost an early lead and fell to another heavy defeat, 7-1, by a Handsworth Old Crown that climbed out of the bottom three. Ryan Robinson and Ash Burbeary combined to set up Ben Wright to score from 12 yards, but Crown levelled when Ben Shackshaft bundled home a corner. Luke Fletcher then gave Crown a half time lead when he scrambled a loose ball home. The second half saw Chapeltown have a penalty appeal waived away by the referee and with Shane Rollinson prominent, Crown took control. Liam Greenfield with two, Matt Ellis, Tyrone Wilson and Bjorn Taylor all found the net.

6 JAN - DIVISION 1 - Top four all win, while Ranch make it 18 goals in three games to go fifth -  Forum maintained their 11 point lead at the top of Division One with a narrow 2-1 win over Southey Social. Southey struck first when Ryan Whitney pressured the home keeper and defender into a mix-up that allowed him to score, and it might have been worse for the leaders when Southey had a strong penalty appeal waived away. John Mellor missed a good chance for Southey at the start of the second half before Forum were relieved a defender only saw yellow for a challenge on Ryan Damms. Forum managed to level with a James Pemberton penalty and grabbed a winner when Antony Holmes finished off their best move of the game.

Second place Cotts FC saw off the challenge of Norton Oaks A with a 4-1 victory that had referee Steve Clarkson waxing lyrical about the best game he has been involved with this season. Luke Kingswood headed Cotts in front, only for them to be pegged back before the interval by a Jon Rossiter strike for the visitors. After the break, Kingswood bundled the ball home to restore Cotts’ lead and Matt Fells beat the keeper after a terrific solo run, before Harry Shaw sealed the points with an 18 yard piledriver.

Third place Crookes kept pace with them when they gained their first clean sheet of the season and came away from Civil Sports A with a 3-0 victory. Andy Parkin gave Crookes the lead from the edge of the area and it was doubled from the penalty spot by Liam Cartledge, before Max Pemberton completed the scoring.

Fourth place Royal Earl also kept pace with a 3-1 win at Cobden View. Ben Bell gave Cobden an early lead and had more chances to extend it, but Earl levelled when Mike Towey headed home and they went into the break ahead after Alex Rippon (right) marked his debut with a goal from close range. Both sides missed chances in the second half and it wasn’t until ten minutes from time when Sam Smith clinched the points with Earl’s third.

If it’s goals you want, Ranch is the team to watch as their 6-1 victory over Mosborough Reds meant their last four games have generated an amazing 39 goals. Liam Price, Harley Wilson, Alex Mosley, Tyrone Gunter, Josh Naylor  and Alex Cowlishaw did the damage for Ranch and Luke Fogg netted Reds consolation.

6 JAN - DIVISION 2 - Davies treble helps Sixs go 6 points clear, as Whites end Boynton's perfect away record - Division Two leaders Sheffield Sixs went six points clear as a Liam Davies (left) treble helped them to a 7-1 victory at Shakey. A foul on Harry Buxton allowed Davies to score his first from the penalty spot but it was cancelled out when Wez Fidler netted from the edge of the area. Any thoughts that it would be level at the break were crushed in the final minute as Danny Barnsley put Sixs back in front and in stoppage time, Sixs were awarded a second penalty and although Davies hit the bar this time, an unlucky defender turned the rebound into his own net.

Within five minutes of the interval, Davies scored twice to complete his hat-trick. Luke Lomas then netted his first goal for two years, before Barnsley netted his second to complete the scoring. Shakey had perhaps not deserved such a heavy defeat, but even a penalty ten minutes from time couldn’t help as it was saved by Sixs keeper Jack Selby.

Sixs lead at the top was extended as second place Boynton Sports lost their perfect away record with defeat at third place Mosborough Whites. Boynton started on the front foot and despite missing a number of guilt edged chances, including a Marcus Gordon penalty saved by Whites’ keeper Curt Congreve, they got their noses in front when a cross by Lee Jordan was headed in by Enos Huly. It didn’t last long though when Luke Walker took advantage of a mistake at the back to equalise for Whites. The second half saw Whites take command and they took the lead when man-of-the-match Levi Williamson was brought down in the area and Jack Bennett slotted home the penalty. Boynton rallied and had a number of chances to equalise but it wasn't to be and Whites held on to go level on points with their visitors

Liam Edge scored twice to help Beighton Magpies stay in the promotion race with a 3-1 victory over Brinsworth Phoenix, a result that saw Phoenix slip into the bottom three. Edge finished off a good move to put Magpies ahead and Dale Featherstone sprung the offside trap to double it before half time. Edge hit a real thunderbolt for his second before Joe Statham lobbed the keeper from 40 yards to score Phoenix’s consolation.

Leapfrogging over Phoenix and out of the bottom three was Woodseats Chantrey after four goal Luke Simmonds helped their revival continue with a 5-0 victory over Civil Sports B. It took until the stroke of half time before a Matt Brookfield corner saw Simmonds leap like a salmon to power a header home. Civil stayed in the game until the last quarter of the game when Brad Leather’s lightening run down the right and his curling cross gave Simmonds a simple tap-in. Simmonds made the most of a scramble in the box to complete his hat-trick and his fourth came when Makinson’s through ball was crossed by Brookfield for another tap-in. The scoring was completed two minutes from time when Rhys Oakes dribbled pas three defenders before finding the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

4 JAN
2019 - R.I.P. Ken Fetch - The League is very saddened to hear about the death of its former League President Ken Fetch on 24 December. All clubs are asked to have a minutes silence, or applause, in honour of Ken this weekend, 6 Jan. Ken was one of the founders of the League and over the years carried out many duties before becoming the League President. His experience, input and loyalty was always of value. Ken also collected for the armed forces veterans "Poppy Appeal" for over 40 years and was often seen in Barkers Pool collecting in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday each year. Our condolences go to all his family and friends. We do not yet have any confirmed details for his funeral, but will publish them when we do.
