3 MAY - CBC PREMIER - Crown leave Civil on the edge - Matt Ellis took advantage of a mistake by the keeper to score the only goal of the game and give Handsworth Old Crown victory at Civil Sports A, leaving the hosts just a point above the relegation zone.

DIVISION 1 - Mellor treble as Southey go goal crazy - John Mellor hit a hat-trick, Ryan Whitney and Todd Guest two each and one from Josh Sugden saw Southey Social come from a goal down to beat Cotts FC 8-4. Scorers for Cotts were Kieran Patterson and Colin Clarke with two each.

DIVISION 2 - Cartledge cracker puts Crookes on the way to the title - Crookes FC (right) became the first club to land a title this season when they won their final match of the season, 2-0 at Mosborough Reds, to land the Division 2 title. Both keepers had to make good saves to keep the sides level, but just before half time Liam Cartledge picked the ball up just inside the Reds half and after advancing he hit a contender for the goal of the season into the top corner to give Crookes the lead. The second half again saw not much between the two sides and once again the two keepers both had to make important saves. The clincher came after Reds failed to clear a free kick and Liam Morris got the all-important touch past the keeper via a post. Cartledge almost took his season's tally to 28 when his late effort come back off the bar, but it didn't matter and Crookes took the title

1 MAY - CBC PREMIER - Adam's the apple of Pheasant's eye - Two Adam Askwith goals were the centre piece of Wadsley Bridge Pheasant's 4-0 victory at Penistone Church and if Pheasant beat Stannington Village on Sunday the title will be their's. Penistone went into the game knowing that victory was a must if they were to keep their own title hopes alive and they had the better of the first half, but missed two good chances to take the lead. The turning point came on the stroke of half time when an underhit clearance by the Penistone keeper fell to Lewis Fothergill and he raced into the space in front of him before unleashing an unstoppable shot to give Pheasant the lead. That gave Pheasant the confidence to take charge of the game and on the hour mark, after having his first shot blocked, Askwith knocked in the rebound to double the lead. Minutes later, Kane Doughty capitalized on a mistake to tap the ball home for Pheasant's third before Askwith completed the scoring.

DIVISION 1 - Colley give Sportsman a big scare - Already relegated Colley gave title challengers Norton Sportsman a real scare and only a Brad Bowland penalty gave the points to Sportsman to take them back to the top of Division One. Sportsman seemed strangely off-colour and had Matt Meaney timed his jump better he may well have headed Colley into a deserved first half lead. The defining moment of the game came in the second half when Connor Pryde went down in the area and referee Alan Streets pointed to the spot. Bowland stepped up to net his 34th goal of the season and deny Colley the point their best performance of the season deserved.

29 APR - LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP FINAL - Bramall Lane Cup Final date set for Thursday 10 May, 7:30 kick-off - Subject to County FA approval, the League twentytwo Cup Final at Bramall Lane between Wadsley Bridge Pheasant and holders Handsworth Old Crown, is set for Thursday 10 May, with a 7:30 kick-off. Admission will be just £5, but free for accompanied children under 16.

29 APR - CBC PREMIER - Good Evans ! - the title race down to one from three - Stannington Village stayed top of the CBC Premier after a thrilling 5-3 victory over Killamarsh Juniors. Village scored first when Arnie Grayson got away down the right and squared the ball for Sean Flynn to tap the ball home, but Killamarsh gave them a jolt when Montelle Kamara equalised. Grayson finished into the far corner to put Stannington in front again, but Joe Glover rose highest at a corner to once again bring Killamarsh level before half time. Stannington had a bit of luck at the start of the second half when Lee Johnstone’s corner beat everyone to go straight into the net, but Killamarsh deservedly levelled a third time when Callum Wood headed home. Stannington held their nerve and led for a fourth time when Ben Cook was brought down in the area and Adam Todd slotted the penalty home and they made the points safe in the final minute when Jamie Middleton got away and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.

Wadsley Bridge Pheasant remain their closest challenger after their narrow 3-2 victory over a Redmires now out of the title race. Pheasant started brightly and they took the lead when Lewis Fothergill cut inside and fired into the top corner, but Redmires, who knew they had to win to stay in the title race, responded and they equalised before half time with a great individual goal by Dan Callow. Redmires gave out hard after the break and took the lead with Tom Whiting’s twentieth goal of the season. Pheasant hit back and were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty and Joel Evans (right) stepped up to equalise. Both teams went for the winner and when Jordan Livett was brought down in the area Evans stepped up to score his second penalty of the game to put Pheasant in front again. It then needed the save of the game by Joel Statham to stop Redmires levelling the scores again and Pheasant held on to all three points. If both Stannington and Pheasant win their midweek games, their clash on Sunday could be a title decider.

At the foot of the table, a Jake Slater goal earned second bottom Woodseats Club a precious point against Penistone Church. Woodseats were on top in the first half and deservedly led at the break through Slater, but Penistone came back into the game in the second half and deservedly levelled through Lewis Dickinson. Woodseats failed to take advantage of two good chances to win it, but Penistone also missed a good chance to take all three points.

The two clubs above Woodseats both suffered defeats. Mark West hit a hat-trick and Daniel Meadows and Harry Chamberlain one each to give Intake Old Boys a 5-0 lead at the break against a Civil Sports A just a point above the bottom three and although Josh Corker and a Leon Howarth penalty pulled two back for Civil in the second half, the game was already lost. Another hat-trick by Ryan Goodinson saw third bottom Norton Oaks A suffer an even worse 5-0 home defeat by Handsworth Old Crow. Matt Ellis got the ball rolling for Crown and two from Goodinson and one from Phil Miskell had them four up at the break. Oaks worked hard to try to get back into the game, but they couldn’t break down a resolute defence and Goodinson completed his treble from the penalty spot.

DIVISION 1 - Oughtibridge go top, but just one point separates the top three - The Division One title race was blown wide open by Oughtibridge WM beating Norton Sportsman 2-1 to take top spot off them and with just two games remaining just one point now separates the top three. Sportsman looked to have one hand on the title when Brad Bowland knocked in a rebound for his 33rd goal of the season to put them ahead, but Oughtibridge knew they had to win and after Ross Brown had missed a good chance he made up for it by finishing off a great team move for their equaliser. Andy Gibbons headed against a post for Sportsman and man of the match Matt Harrison missed a good chance for Oughtibridge, but when Callum Chambers was brought down in the box he picked himself up to score his 30th goal of the season and give the points to Oughtibridge.

Tyrone Gunter scored twice as Ranch completed their season with a 5-1 victory at Civil Sports B. Alex Mosley’s corner went straight in to put Ranch ahead, before Gunter scored either side of half time. Alex Cowlishaw pulled one back for Civil, but Ranch made sure of the win with Danny Williams’ first of the season and one from Danny Foster. Elsewhere in Division one, goals for Alex Carlton, Kieran Patterson put Cotts FC on the way to a 3-1 victory over. Ryan Whitney pulled one back for Cotts, but it was their third goal that caught the headlines as keeper Jack Dennison’s punt upfield went over the Southey keeper with the help of a deflection by a defender Ryan Keeney. Goals for George Wilson-Bland and man-of-the-match Aaron Ellis gave Cobden View a 2-0 victory over Brinsworth Phoenix.

DIVISION 2 - Matt's finishes put Crookes one win from the title - A Matt Cowen hat-trick and one each for Liam Cartledge and Liam Morris gave Crookes FC a 5-2 victory over Boynton Sports and victory in midweek at Mosborough Reds will see Crookes take the Division Two title.

Scott Williams scored twice as Mosborough Reds warmed up for that crucial midweek game with a 4-2 victory at Woodhouse Juniors. Juniors led with a Tom Bland goal, but it was cancelled out when Scott Williams met a Jake Leonard cross to head home. Williams headed a second after the break, but it was cancelled out by a Liam Beresford strike. Leonard then put Reds back in front and three minutes later Joe Harris made the win safe.

Hoping Crookes drop points is Royal Earl, who kept up the chase thanks to a Steve Brammer penalty winner at Wadsley Horse & Jockey. Brammer was relieved to see his spot kick go in as he had earlier missed another penalty as Jockey gave their title credentials a real test. Forum have even more reason for hoping that Crookes fail to win their last game, as Forum would then be champions providing they win their final two games.

26 APR - CBC PREMIER - Leon shows How for Civil, while Wickersley hit by Crown and Intake hit the Wall - Leon Howarth struck twice as Civil Sports A climbed out of the bottom three with a 3-0 victory over a Norton Oaks A that drop into the bottom three in their place. Tom Bamford struck Civil's other. Wickersley Youth missed the chance to go top with a costly 3-0 home defeat by a Handsworth Old Crown needing the points to guarantee safety. Shane Rollinson gave Crown an early lead and ten minutes later Matt Ellis (far left) doubled their lead with a terrific header. The second half saw Russ Hobson (left) extend the lead from the penalty spot, but Crown had to defend for their lives to stop Wickersley getting back into the game. Redmires climbed to third with an 8-1 victory over Intake Old Boys. Jon Wall smacked three of them, Andy Bath two, with one each for Dan Callow, Tom Whiting and Rikki Davidson back from his long injury lay off. Just two points separate the top four.

DIVISION 1 - Brad Bowls Legion over, while Oughtibridge up to second - Brad Bowland (right) took his season's tally to 32 with a hat-trick in Division One leaders Norton Sportsman's 4-1 victory over title rivals Chapeltown RBL. Chris Lewis crossed for Mark Fereday to give Sportsman the lead and Bowland doubled it when he scored from the spot after he had been brought down in the area. Danny Cardwell hit a stunning free kick to reduce the arrears, but any thoughts of a second half fightback were dispelled when another foul on Bowland allowed him to score a second penalty. Great work by Jack Wymouth paved the way for Bowland to head home and complete his hat-trick.

Up to second is Oughtibridge WM after they beat Cobden View 4-1. Callum Chambers and Matt Harrison gave Bridge a 2-0 half time lead and although Tim Pitt pulled one back for View, Ross Brown and a screamer from Harrison made sure Oughtibridge took the points. Only three points separate the top three and with some games against each other, anyone of the three could yet take the title.

At the other end of the table, a second successive relegation for Brinsworth Phoenix was confirmed when a Nasa Meah first half goal gave Norton Oaks B a 1-0 victory over them. Oaks just needed a point to confirm they were safe, but took all three

DIVISION 2 - Crookes stay top and Earl are up to second - A Matt Owen double helped Crookes stay top with a 6-0 victory over a tired looking Mosborough Whites playing their fourth game in eight days. Crookes others came from a Liam Cartledge penalty, Andy Parkin, Matt Rooney and James Hambling. Royal Earl climbed back to second with a 7-0 victory over a Woodhouse Juniors that had held them to a draw five days ealier. Tom Nolan and a Steve Brammer penalty gave Earl a two goal half-time lead and they made sure their was no repeat of the previous result with doubles from Sam Smith and Callum Greaves along with a Connor Chapell strike.

24-APR - DIVISION 2 - Danny leaves Cadbury in a State - Danny State hit four as Mosborough Wites came away from Cadbury with a 6-0 victory. Chris Calcott and Jordan Meadows added Whites others.

22 APR - CBC PREMIER - Wickersley out Whitted in a ten goal thriller, while Adam is Pheasant's first man - Tom Whiting hit a hat-trick as Redmires beat fellow CBC Premier title chasers Wickersley Youth 6-4 to knock Wickersley down to third. Thanks to Whiting and George Rudd goals, Wickersley found themselves 2-0 down within 10 minutes, but they hit back with an Adam Daughtrey strike. and equalised with an Ainsley Finney strike following good work from Joe McGuinness. They weren't level for long though as Whiting and Rudd both struck again to put Redmires 4-2 at half time. Wickersley took control after the break and made it 4-3 with a Jonny Claxton header, but Redmires hit them on the break and Whiting completed his hat-trick to make it 5-3. Wickersley hit back again with a Ben Thornton tap in to reduce the arrears again, but as they strove for an equaliser they were hit on break again and Conal Jacklin made the final score 6-4 to Redmires.

Up to second is Wadsley Bridge Pheasant after an Adam Askwith double helped them to a 4-1 victory at Killamarsh Juniors. Defences were on top in the first half, but just after the break Pheasant took the lead when a Scot Bingley cross was fired home by Askwith. Kane Doughty doubled their lead with a fine run and finish, but Killamarsh pulled one back when Robin Holmes was fouled in the box and he picked himself up to send the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. Pheasant though were in no mood to let it slip and after Askwith netted his second, Simon Bingley fired home a 20 yard rocket to seal the points.

Woodseats hopes of escaping the bottom three got a boost when a last minute goal from Nicky Owen gave them a 3-2 home victory over twentytwo Cup finalists Handsworth Old Crown. Matt Ellis put Handsworth ahead only to see it cancelled out before half time by a Mark White goal for Woodseats. The second half saw Woodseats take the lead when Lewis Whitaker hit a first time 25 yard volley into the roof of the net, but it was cancelled out by Handsworth skipper Dave Haggerty. It looked as if Woodseats would have to settle for a point until the final minute when an Owen header went in off the post to give them three precious points and leave Handsworth still needing points to make sure they are still in the CBC Premier next season. DIVISION 1 - Sportsman and Legion are both promoted - Despite being srprisingly held by to a draw by a Cotts still needing points for safety, leaders Norton Sportsman could still celebrate as the point from their 2-2 draw confirmed their promotion from Division One. Michael Blythen gave Cotts an early lead, but it was soon cancelled out when Chris Lewis knocked the ball down for Andy Gibbons to smash home. Cotts restored their lead when they were awarded a penalty and Blythen scored his second from the spot, but just before the break Sportsman were back on level terms when Lewis fired home a twenty five yard screamer. The second half saw Sportsman push hard for a winner, but when they did create chances, they found the Cotts keeper James Newsome in great form and had to settle for the point that guaranteed their second successive promotion.

Chapeltown RBL are now second on goal difference only after Dale Shaw made it four goals in two games with another brace as they also guaranteed themselves promotion from Division One with a 4-0 victory over Southey Social. Nathan Forbes put Chapeltown ahead with a good finish from a tight angle and John Thompson doubled their lead before the break with a firm header from a Danny Cardwell cross. Defences were on top in the second half until Shaw took the game by the scruff of the neck, firing his first home from fifteen yards and producing a cool finish for his second soon after.

Cobden View were able to celebrate avoiding the drop with a 4-1 victory over an in-form Ranch. Although Ranch started brightly it was Cobden that took a first half lead through Cav Rowland. Ranch levelled in the second half with a Jay Lindsay penalty, but Cobden knew they would be safe with victory and they got it with further goals from Alex Butt, Will Cutler and Tim Pitt. Mark Turton and Jack Peake both scored twice as Norton Oaks B edged very close to safety with a 6-1 victory over Civil Sports B. Nasa Meah and Scott Birch put Oaks two up by the break and Turton and Peake both added their doubles in the second half, while Alex Cowlishaw hit Civil's consolation.

DIVISION 2 - Top three are promoted as Forum stop Crookes to throw the title race wide open - The top three of Crookes, Forum and Royal Earl are all guaranteed promotion after Mosborough Whites were held at home by Boynton Sports. Boynton's man of the match Tom Goodison scored for them, while Levi Williamson netted for Mosborough, but they couldn't find a winner to keep their promotion hopes alive. Crookes retained top spot despite an Anthony Holmes double helping second place Forum to a thrilling 4-3 victory over them. Josh Gibson's 21st of the season put Forum ahead and Holmes had doubled it before half time. Liam Cartledge pulled one back for Crookes, but Andy Harrison and Holmes second gave Forum a three goal lead. Crookes fought hard to get back into the game and Cartledge netted his second before Matt Owen hit their third, but with Lee Thompson in fine form for the home side they held on to go just a point behind Crookes.

Royal Earl missed the chance to go top on goal difference when they were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw at third from bottom Woodhouse Juniors. Dimitri White shocked the Sunday Junior Cup winners by giving Woodhouse a first half lead and although John Fusco's first of the season drew Earl level, they fell behind a second time when George Leesley scored his first goal for Woodhouse. Connor Chapell go a second leveller for Earl, but as hard as they pushed, the Woodhouse defence and keeper were determined to not be beaten again. It means it's still all to play for with just two points separating the top three.

19 APR - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP FINAL - Heartbreak for Mosborough as Earl win on pens - After twice leading and never being behind in both normal and extra time, Mosborough Whites suffered the heartbreak of a penalty shoot-out defeat in the Sunday Junior Cup Final at Stocksbridge Park Steels Look Local Stadium to their Division Two rivals Royal Earl, who became one of the few clubs to have won both the Junior and Senior Sunday Cups after previously winning the Sunday Senior Cup in 2014/15. In the second successive all-Blades Super Draw League final, Danny State had already tested Earl keeper Jamie Dean twice and struck the crossbar before he beat the keeper to a Liam Riley through ball before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home from a tight angle to give Mosborough the lead. They continued to look the more likely to score, but just before the interval it was their keeper Curtis Congreave that was called upon to make a terrific save from a Callum Westley header.

The second half saw Earl introduce former Stocksbridge manager, 44 years old Darren Schofield and his experience began to turn the tide Earl's way. They slowly came into the game more, but without producing too much of a threat until ten minutes from time when Billy Wright put a ball over the top for Steve Brammer to chase and his cross was met by Tom Nolan who swept the ball home off the underside of the bar to bring Earl level. Ollie Beaumont had a shot saved by Congreave to send the game into extra time and although Earl continued to have the lion's share of possession it was Mosborough that re-took the lead when Lewis Russell smashed the ball home at the back post. They held that lead into the second half of extra time, but further pressure from Earl eventually brought its reward as Beaumont finished off a scramble in front of goal to level a second time. Both sides missed good chances to win it so it went to a penalty shoot-out. Curtis Congreave looked a likely match winner when he saved two of Earl's first three penalties, but misses by State and Brad Gledhill meant it went to sudden death, and after Charlie Myers had made it 5-4 to Earl, it was their keeper Dean that became the match winner when he saved Danny Howson's penalty. After Mike Towey had had to miss the game due to suffering concusion earlier in the week, his team mates insisted that he collected the Cup for Earl from the County FA Cups Chairman Stuart Topham. CBC PREMIER - Wickersley back on top after last gasp White foils Village, while Woodseats hit back to claim a precious point - Wickersley Youth are back on top of the CBC Premier after their 4-2 victory over relegation battlers Civil Sports A. Wickersley started well and took the lead through Adam Daughtrey after good work by Ross Johnson. They made it 2-0 with centre back Jonny Claxton heading home from a Cory Goodwin corner and although Civil made it 2-1 with a Thomas Bamford strike, Wickersley made it 3-1 before half time with another Jonnie Claxton header from another Cory Goodwin corner. Wickersley started brightly in the second half and should have killed the game off when Adam Daughtrey missed an open net from 4 yards. It was harder to miss! Bamford scored his second for Civil on the break to make it 3-2, but Wickersley should have clinched the game when Joe McGuinness blasted a penalty kick over. Wickersley eventually did make it 4-2 with a Jamie Fawcett 20 yard shot which took a slight deflection away from the Civil keeper.

Stannington Village knew that victory over Redmires would keep them on top and they deservedly had a half time lead after Josh Coulson's free kick was headed home by Dean Jepson, but Redmires equalised after the break when Stannington old boy Jon Wall (right) scored with a thirty yard free kick that went in off a post. Stannington went back in front when Charlie Hobson's through ball found Arnie Grayson and he finished well into the far corner. It looked like it would be enough to win it but in the final minute Dale White's shot from the edge of the area took a deflection past the keeper to make the final score 2-2.

Norton Oaks A's hopes of avoiding the drop took a hit as a Mark West treble gave Intake Old Boys a 3-0 victory over them, but Woodseats Club came from two down to claim a precious point from a 2-2 draw at home to Killamarsh Juniors. Killamarsh looked to be heading for the victory that would have more or less made their place in the CBC Premier safe for another season, but they lost keeper James Abramski to concussion and goals from Callum Flanagan and Nicky Owen rescued a point for Woodseats to give them hope that they could still yet avoid the drop.

DIVISION 1 - Phoenix hope to fly after victory at Civil, while Ranch see off Southey - Brinsworth Phoenix gave their survival hopes a boost with a 3-1 victory at Civil Sports B. After going behind to a Josh Buxton goal, Phoenix got back on the front foot with a towering header from Nathan Darwent after a pin point cross from man of the match Kieran Goff. Goff then deliverd another great cross to which Sam Firth got a penalty for skipper Dean Foreman to slot home to make it 2.1 After creating chances and Civil keeper making several saves, leading scorer Jack Hawkes fastened on to a through ball from Liam Boswell to cooley slot home to clinch the points for Phoenix, but even victories in both their final two games probably won't be enough to beat the drop. Ranch took a grip on fifth place as goals from Matty Jacobs and Mikey Thomas gave them a 2-1 win over sixth place Southey Social. Scorer for Southey was Josh Sugden.

DIVISION 2 - Smith at the double to put Crookes up and back in the driving seat - Pete Smith scored twice and Max Pemberton and Liam Morris one each to give Crookes a 4-1 win at Cadbury to put them back on top of Division Two and guarantee a top three finish. Curtis Priday's goal for Cadbury had them level at the break and keeper Josh Grant did his best to keep to keep Crookes at bay despite playing with a broken toe and a broken thumb!

17 APR - DIVISION 1 - Oaks Birch Colley to edge towrards safety - Scott Birch (left) scored four as Norton Oaks Bbeat already relegated Colley 5-3 to put six points between themselves and the drop zone. Two from Birch and one from Will Carlisle had Oaks three up at the interval, but Colley hit back after the break and Chris Fowler and Ridham Miladi both scored to reduce the arrears to one. Birch then completed his hat-trick to put Oaks back in charge, but Colley responded again and Fowler netted his second. Birch should have had his fourth when he missed a penalty, but soon after he made up for the miss to clinch the game for Oaks.

15 APR - CBC PREMIER - Fothergill double keeps Pheasant in touch - A Lewis Fothergill double helped Wadsley Bridge Pheasant to a narrow 2-1 victory over relegation threatened Norton Oaks A and there is now just one point separating the top three teams. Pheasant started on the front foot and soon after a Dylan Parrott free kick had hit the woodwork, a quick break ended with a cool finish by Fothergill to put his side ahead. Only some terrific saves by Oaks' young keeper Corey Hawksworth stopped the margin being much wider at the break. Pheasant continue to press after the break and their pressure finally told when Fothergill netted his second. They then had a great chance to make it three when they were awarded a penalty, but Adam Askwith's spot kick was brilliantly saved by Hawksworth. Oaks then got back into the game when James Kay found himself one-on-one with the keeper to score and only some good defending and a couple of missed chances stopped them taking a point. R e d m i r e s a re just four points further back after their 2-0 win at another relegation struggler, Woodseats Club. After a goalless first half Redmires went ahead with a great volley at the back post by John Pedder and Dan Callow wrapped up the points when he beat the Woodseats' offside club to score their second. Killamarsh Juniors and visitors Handsworth Old Crown both moved a point away from the drop zone by drawing 1-1 with each other. Jack Stanley put Killamarsh ahead with a looping header from a James Savage free kick, but the points were shared after good work by Matt Ellis gave Shane Rollinson a simple tap-in to equalise.

DIVISION 1 - Cotts catch Oughtibridge napping, and Village slip as Sugden farms out a treble, while Civil are relegated - In Division One, third place Oughtibridge WM slipped to their second defeat in three games as Cotts more or less made their place in Division One safe for another season with their fourth away win of the season. Sam Stacey, Michael Brown and Alex Carlton strikes had Cotts 3-0 up before Callum Chambers scored his twenty-eighth of the season from the penalty spot to reduce the arrears. Matt Harrison then produced a great finish to put Oughtibridge within striking distance, but Cotts held on to win 3-2.

Fourth place Woodhouse Village failed to close the gap though as they also slipped to defeat, 4-2 at a Southey Social inspired by hat-trick hero Josh Sugden. It started well for Woodhouse when Theo Wilson put them ahead, but Southey equalised when they were awarded a penalty and , although his spot kick was saved, Josh Sugden scored when the ball came back to him. Sugden then netted his second from a free kick to put Southey ahead, but Woodhouse levelled after the break with a Mark Wall free kick. Woodhouse were piling on the pressure and only two terrific saves stopped Liam Simmonite, in his first start for three years, and Ryan Lee putting them ahead. Ollie Grady then missed a point blank header from Simmonite's flick-on and those misses proved costly as first John Mellor and then Sugden to complete his hat-trick gave victory to Southey.

That made it a good day for leaders Norton Sportsman who maintained top spot with a 4-2 victory at a Norton Oaks B still needing points to avoid slipping into the bottom three. Sportsman went ahead when Michael Gibbons was brought down in the box and Brad Bowland netted his twenty-ninth of the season from the penalty spot. Oaks levelled when Jordan Noble scored his first for the club and for a while they pushed the leaders back, but with just twenty minutes remaining, Sonny Wilson's bullet header put Sportsman back in front and it was quickly followed by another when Mark Fereday rounded the Oaks keeper to score. James Archer scrambled home their fourth and although Scott Birch netted a second for Oaks it wasn't enough to stop the leaders from taking the three points, leaving them just one win away from clinching promotion .

It was also good for Chapeltown RBL as they went second after a double from veteran Dale Shaw helped them to a 2-1 victory at Cobden View. After RBL missed two early chances, it didn't look too good for them when Alex Butt gave Cobden the lead, but RBL hit back straight away and levelled when Ryan Robinson intercepted the ball before whipping in a vicious cross that Shaw met with a looping header over the Oaks keeper. Cobden had chances to restore their lead, but they couldn't take them and instead it was Shaw that won it for RBL when he met Danny Cardwell's long throw. Civil Sports B's fight against relegation is over after they slipped to a 7-0 defeat at an in-form Ranch inspired by a hat-trick from Matt Jacobs. Ranch's others in a rather one-sided affair, came from Jack Jones, Joe Denby, Joe Howsham and Danny Foster

DIVISION 2 - Earl and Forum end all-square to put Crookes in the driving seat - Royal Earl keep top spot in Division Two for the moment despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Forum, a result that means just one point separates the top three. Earl took the lead after ten minutes through Steve Brammer, but Forum levelled when their skipper Joseph Thompson converted a penalty. The game swung back in Earl's favour when Forum went down to nine men and Sam Smith put Earl back in front, but a second penalty award allowed Thompson to rescue a point for Forum. The result leaves second placed Crookes as title favourites as they have a game in hand on their rivals, but the destination of the title could hinge on Crookes' visit to Forum next weekend.

Boynton Sports chances of a top three finish ended with a 5-0 home defeat by Mosborough Reds. Jamie Damms, Josh Smith and Joe Harris strikes had Reds three up in just fourteen minutes and the game was as good as over when Ash Hotchin added a fourth before half time from Jay McFadzean's cross. Boynton managed to stem the flow after that and it was only three minutes from time when Harris headed his second from just outside the 6 yard box. Mosborough Whites also won, 3-2 at home to Wadsley Horse & Jockey, to keep their very slim chance of making the top three. That result didn't look likely when Danny Bent and Aaron Statham strikes had Jockey two ahead, but one from Callum Congreave and two Morgan Fox goals saw Whites turn the game on it's head to take the points.

12 APR - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP FINAL - Royal Earl and Mosborough Whites to meet in the Final on 19 April at Stocksbridge - The County FA confirmed today that the all-Blades Super Draw League Sunday Junior Cup Final between Royal Earl and Mosborough Whites will take place on Thursday 19 April at Stocksbridge Park Steels stadium. It means that both Earl's and Whites' league games scheduled for that night will have to be rescheduled.

12 APR - CBC PREMIER - Champions back on top, while Oaks gain a precious point - After a goalless first half against in-form Redmires, chmpions Stannington Village scored twice through Shaun Flynn (left) and Callum Pinhorn to take control, but they needed all their defensive strength to hold on to it after Jake Gamban pulled one back for the visitors. The 2-1 win puts them back on top of the CBC Premier by a point above Wickersley Youth.

At the foot of the table third from bottom Norton Oaks A grabbed a 2-2 at Handsworth Old Crown with a late Andy Dawson (right) header. Oaks led at half time through a Kenny Brakes header, but two goals in five minutes from Greg Taylor and Mike Golland put Crown ahead until Dawson's late strike. It wasn't such good news for second bottom Woodseats Club as they slipped to a 3-2 home defeat by Intake Old Boys. John Roper gave Intake the lead only for Jake Whistlecraft to equalise. Woodseats then went ahead through Lewis Whittaker, but it was Crown's turn to equalise through Harry Chamberlain's rocket into the top corner. It went from bad to worse for the home club when Roper beat their offside trap and his cross could only be turned into his own net by a defender.

DIVISION 1 - Four goal Chambers helps Oughtibridge to the ton, while Buxton hits four as Civil shock Cotts - Callum Chambers scored four as Oughtibridge beat Southey Social 5-1 to take their season's goal tally to 101 and up to second in the Division One table. A Josh Sugden strike had Southey level for a while, but they couldn't cope with Chambers, who scored their 100th goal before Chas Tunnard completed the scoring. Woodhouse Village stayed in the promotion chase with a 6-1 victory at Brinsworth Phoenix. After a goalless first half, Village went ahead throgh Jamie Hopkins, but Jack Hawkes levelled for Phoenix from the penalty spot. Ollie Grady soon had Village back in front and Hopkins quickly added his second. Liam Simmonite made his return to the side to join his brothers Ryan and Sean on the pitch for the first time and it was Sean that further celebrated with Village's fourth, before Stef Flint and Tom Reed completed the scoring.

A second player to hit four was Civil Sports B's Josh Buxton as the bottom club claimed their first win of the season, 7-3 over a Cotts FC still not clear of danger. Alex Cowlishaw, Joe Taylor and George Hobson hit Civil's others, while Chenston Clarke with two and Michael Blythen with one scored for Cotts. Two sides destined for a mid-table finish, Ranch and Cobden View, fought out an entertaining 4-4 draw. Joe Denby put Ranch ahead only for Joe Taylor to equalise from the spot. Mike Vella put Ranch back in front and Danny Foster made it 3-1 after the break. Ben Bell pulled one back for View, but Ranch looked to have won it when Tyrone Gunter made it 4-2. View didn't give up though and in the last three minutes an Aaron Ellis strike and a last gasp Ben Mayne goal gave them a deserved share of the spoils.

DIVISION 2 - Earl back on top, and Crookes keep pace with them, but Boynton slip to Whites - Although they were made to work hard for their victory, Royal Earl went back to the top of Division Two with a 3-0 win at Cadbury. Callum Greaves headed them in front in the first half, but Cadbury were proving to be difficult opponents and it wasn't unti they had a player dismissed for handball in the area that Earl gained some breathing sspace. The penalty was saved, but they were pushing Cadbury further back and finally made it more comfortable with Sam Smith and Steve Brammer (left) goals. The victory means Earl are now just one more win from sealing promotion at the first attempt.

Crookes FC kept pace with them with a 5-1 victory at Woodseats Chantry. Liam Cartledge (right) took his League tally to 22 with three of them, while Luke Walker and Liam Morris netted their others. Josh Connolly netted for Chantrey. Boynton Sports promotion bid stuttered again with a 2-1 defeat by Mosborough Whites. Chris Calcott in the first half and Jack Bennett in the second had Whites two up before a late Sports goal gave them a nervous finish.

10 APR - DIVISION 2 - Gibson and Nshindano doubles send Forum to the top - Doubles from Josh Gibson and man of the match Phil Nshindano plus one each from Jordan Scaife, Jav Sherratt and Antony Holmes gave Forum a 7-1 victory at Shakey to send them to the top of Division Two and they could be just two more wins away from sealing promotion at their first attempt. Shakey's consolation goal came from their leading scorer Andrew Redfern.

8 APR - CBC PREMIER - Wickersley show Hough to stay top, but chasing pack all win - Leaders Wickersley Youth thought they had taken the lead at Norton Oaks A when Cory Goodwin found Drew Houghton and he put the ball in the net, but as the striker peeled away for celebration the referee disallowed the goal for offside. Wickersley then had a penalty and captain Kris Lee-Green stepped up to take it only to blast the ball over the bar. Wickersley eventually took the lead. Lee-Green found Houghton in the box and he coolly slotted home. Wickersley was then given another penalty and this time Ainsley Finney stepped up to make no mistake. Wickersley started the second half well again and made it 3-0 through another Houghton strike, before Lee-Green fired home from edge of the box to make it four. Norton was still creating chances though and Liam Paterson headed one back, but Wickersley hit back with Jamie Fawcett heading home from a Joe Simpson free kick. Paterson scored his second header for Norton to make it 5-2, but Houghton had the final say to complete his hat trick with a header with 5 minutes remaining to leave the final score 6-2.

Second place Stannington Village took an early lead at Intake Old Boys when Bill Green (left) met a Lee Johnstone corner at the near post and they doubled their lead before the break when a Ben Cook cross was headed home by Dean Jepson. It was a tight game though and Intake deservedly pulled one back in the second half when John Hills headed against the post and Jack Heald scrambled it over the line. After Charlie Hobson missed a good chance to restore Stannington's two goal lead, in the end they were indebted to centre backs Dan Green and Danny Abdulla to hold onto for a 2-1 victory.

Third place Wadsley Bridge Pheasant had a more comfortable 3-0 win in their Twentytwo Cup Final rehearsal with Handsworth Old Crown. Crown started brighter, but as Pheasant came into the game Jordan Livett was bundled over in the box and Dylan Parrott (right) dispatched the penalty. Parrott then produced a fine run and powerful cross shot to make it 2-0 at half time. Pheasant continue to create chance after chance in the second half, with Craig Mawhood missing a golden chance that looked easier to score than miss, but finally Lewis Fothergill broke through to hit their third.

Penistone Church maintained their hopes with a 3-1 home win over Civil Sports A. A tight first half ended goalless, but three minutes after the break Tom Adams fired Penistone in front. Civil hit back with Tom Bamford rounding the keeper to score, but Penistone restored their lead with Sam Scrivens' eighth of the season and completed the scoring two minutes later with Adams' second of the game.

Redmires kept their outside hopes alive with a 4-2 win at a Killamarsh Juniors getting too close to the bottom three for comfort. Matt Hague's early goal gave Killamarsh the perfect start and they should have doubled it when a push in the box saw them awarded a penalty, only for Matt Stead to hit the crossbar. Redmires leading scorer Tom Whiting took advantage to hit an equaliser and George Rudd added a second with a far post finish to give Redmires a half time lead. Redmires had chance after chance in the second half before Whiting added a third and Chris Cottyn a fourth. Late on Killamarsh were awarded a second penalty and this time Hague took responsibility for it to score his second, but it was too little too late. DIVISION 1 - Howsham double sees Ranch halt Oughtibridge, but leaders Norton make no mistake - Norton Sportsman stayed top of Division One with a 6-1 victory over Cobden View. Sportsman went two up in the first ten mins with Brad Bowland smashing in a Callum Frith knockdown and Sonny Wilson with a fine finish. Cobden View pulled one back through a Joe Taylor free kick, but right on half time James Archer finished a one touch move to make it 3 -1. It stayed like that until the last twenty minutes when Bowland scored his second, followed by an own goal and a Michael Gibbons finish.

For their second game in succession, Ranch put a spanner in the works for a promotion chaser, by beating Oughtibridge WM 4-3 in a real thriller. Oughtibridge knew they were in for a game as Ranch had ended Chapeltown RBL's unbeaten record in their previous game and it didn't take them long to get their noses in front through Jack Williams. Joe Howsham (left) then added a second for Ranch when he lobbed the keeper, but Oughtibridge quickly hit back and a Matt Harrison strike followed by an Ollie Black penalty had them level at the break. After Ranch had missed two one-on-ones, it was Oughtibridge that got their noses in front when great work by Callum Chambers set Ross Brown up to score. Undeterred by that Ranch got themselves level with Tom Burns scoring from close range and they completed the victory when Howsham capitalised on a defensive error to score his second.

Brinsworth Phoenix gave themselves a chance of avoiding the drop with a 2-0 win at a Cotts FC just two places above them. Phoenix had a first half lead through a superb volley from Sam Firth from a pin point Kieran Goff free kick. After the break Phoenix piled on the pressure and it took its toll when some slick passing between Goff and Jordan Pearce was completed with Karl Fox coolly slotting through the keepers legs doubled their lead, but after that they were indebted to stand-in keeper Chris Knowles who produced some amazing saves to preserve their lead.

DIVISION 2 - Earl put Shakey in a Paddy to stay top as the top three draw clear - Paddy Carrig hit a hat-trick as Royal Earl stayed top of Division Two with a 7-0 victory at Shakey, A Paddy Carrig hat-trick and two from Steve Brammer gave Earl a five goal lead at the break and the second half saw Brammer complete his treble along with one from Callum Greaves. Forum stayed second as an Andy Harrison double helped them to a 4-1 victory at Mosborough Whites, Forum's others coming from Matty Ord and Josh Gibson, while Danny Howson hit Whites consolation. Liam Morris also hit three as third place Crookes FC won 6-1 at Boynton Sports. Liam Cartledge added two more to his collection and James Reed hit the other for a victory that puts them six points clear of the teams below them and with games in hand.

5 APR - CBC PREMIER - Mahwood at the double to keep Pheasant in the title race - After Jordan Livett had opened the scoring early in the second half, Craig Mahwood (right) added two more to seal a 3-0 victory for Wadsley Bridge Pheasant at Intake Old Boys. It put Pheasant back up to third, just 3 points behind leaders Wickersley Youth with a game in hand.

DIVISION 1 - All midweek games postponed - The weather once again took its toll on Division One games.

DIVISION 2 - Gibson double keeps Forum in the title race - After Lee Williams had given Woodhouse Juniors a half time lead, Forum, inspired by man of the match Andy Harrison, hit back in the second half to win 3-1 with two from Josh Gibson (left) and one from Matt Ord.

1 APR - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP SEMI-FINAL - Mosborough have a White good time to make it an all-Blades Super Draw Final - The County FA Sunday Junior Cup is destined to have a Blades Super Draw League name on it after Mosborough Whites continued their amazing adventure in this competition with a 3-1 away win at Barnsley based Swaithe. Swaithe, who knocked out Mosborough’s fellow Division Two side Crookes in the previous round, took the lead in the first half. However, Whites have certainly been a team that can turn a deficit into a win in this season’s competition and so it proved as they scored three unanswered strikes from Chris Calcott, Jack Lenihan and Danny State to secure their spot in the showpiece Final where they will face another fellow Blades Super Draw League Division Two side in Royal Earl. It will be the second all-Blades Super Draw final in successive years and the third in the last five years.

CBC PREMIER - Wickersley and Stannington stay on course, but Penistone lose ground - Wickersley Youth battled away to a 5-3 win at Woodseats Club which keeps them at the top of the CBC Premier Division. Ainsley Finney gave Lewis Carder’s men the lead following good work from Joe McGuinness but three goals in five minutes from Read, Jackson and White put Club ahead. A superb overhead kick from the edge of the area by Ross Johnson made it a one goal game and then on the stroke of half time Adam Daughtrey netted to send the teams in level at 3-3. Wickersley clinched the win in the final quarter of hour, Finney scoring his second of the morning when he netted from a sublime Alex Elwell cross and then Jamie Fawcett scoring on the half volley after Cory Goodwin centred. It was jubilation for Wickersley but another reverse for Club who are staring relegation in the face with just a handful of games left.

Another team that are still in relegation trouble are Hallam FC after a second half goal blitz powered Stannington Village to a 6-1 home win and second place in the CBC Premier standings. Village took the lead when Shaun Flynn put in the rebound from his initial effort, but Nick Dymock levelled for Hallam a few minutes later. Dean Jepson (left) put Stannington into the lead when he scored at the second attempt for a half time advantage, and on the hour the striker scored his second of the morning when he got the decisive touch after Dan Green had flicked on a long throw. It became 4-1 when Arnie Grayson set up Charlie Hobson for a tidy finish under the goalkeeper and two Adam Todd strikes; one from the penalty spot after Lee Johnstone was fouled in the area; finished the scoring.

A superb second half showing was the reason behind a Redmires 5-0 away success at Penistone Church which halted any hope the home side of taking the CBC Premier Division title on their debut season in the top flight. The prolific Tom Whiting scored twice for Dave Knaggs’ men as did George Rudd to keep Redmires in the hunt for a top four finish. Jon Wall added the other to ensure a nap hand. Whilst a sole strike from Alex Rippon gave Intake Old Boys a 1-0 win over Handsworth Old Crown. Rippon spun and turned to fire in the game winner in a match that was full of chances throughout and by all accounts could have ended in a high scoring draw. DIVISION 1 - Harry Davison gives Legion a poor ride home - Only one game in Division One survived the weather and that sole game was a good entertaining one as hosts Southey Social and visitors Chapeltown RBL shook hands on a 1-1 draw. Both keepers made a lot of great saves but there was nothing the Southey custodian could have done when Nathan Forbes fizzed a long-range thunderbolt past him from fully forty-five yards out. But in injury time Southey got a deserved point when Harry Davison was on hand to score with ultimately the last kick of the game.

DIVISION 2 - Smith's a big hit for Earl, while Cowen double keeps Crookes in touch - Royal Earl are still on course for the Second Division title as they ended Boynton Sports unbeaten home record with a 5-0 victory over them. Sam Smith took centre stage with a hat-trick, including a penalty, for Earl who lead the table by two points. Skipper Tom Roebuck and Conor Chapell also scored for the leaders. Moving into second are Crookes FC after they came from behind to defeat Mosborough Reds 2-1 in the division’s only other game. Jake Leonard gave Reds the lead in the twenty second minute, but Matt Cowen levelled a couple of minutes later. Eight minutes further on Cowen scored the matchwinner to keep Crookes two points behind the leaders with a match in hand. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.
