25 MAR - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP SEMI-FINAL - Redmires make League history - Redmires defeated Mexborough's Westville 2-0 to become the first ever Blades Super Draw League club to reach the Sunday Senior Cup Final. After twice losing in the semi-finals in recent seasons, Redmires looked determined to not miss out a third time and almost took a first half lead with a Tom Whiting header. Whiting did better in the second half to give his side the lead and victory was confirmed with a late Jon Wall (left) penalty after George Rudd had been felled in the area. They will face either Rotherham's Joker or Wombwell Main in the final, when Redmires could become possibly the first team to win both the Sunday Junior and Sunday Senior Cups.

SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP SEMI-FINAL - Earl hit back to lord it over Southey - Despite falling behind to a John Mellor strike and seeing Steve Brammer’s penalty saved by Cal Jones, Royal Earl reached the Sunday Junior Cup final by beating Southey Social 9-1. Brammer (right) equalised before half time and Earl took over the game in the second half with further goals from Mike Towey 2, Tom Nolan 2, Steve Brammer, Billy Wright, substitute Chris Wood and a penalty from Sam Smith. They will face either Barnsley’s Swaithe FC or Division Two Mosborough Whites in the final

LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP SEMI-FINALS - Pheasant Livett up, while Crown penalise Crookes - A Jordan Livett hat-trick saw Wadsley Bridge Pheasant defeat Norton Sportsman 3-1 to go through to their second League Twentytwo Cup Final and they will face the holders Handsworth Old Crown at Bramall Lane after they came from behind three times to beast Crookes FC on penalties

Sportsman suffered an early blow when leading scorer Brad Bowland was injured in a clash with Pheasant keeper Joel Statham and more bad news quickly followed when Livett gave Pheasant an early lead with a quick free kick. He scored a second early in the second half when his corner beat everyone and went straight into the net. Sportsman gave it everything in the second half and deservedly pulled one back through Mark Fereday, but, just after going close to an equaliser, Sportsman’s defence was opened up again and Livett completed his hat-trick.

Crookes took control early in the other semi and took the lead when Matt Cowen’s shot took a defelection past Tom Crosby in the Crown goal. Crookes seemed to be in control, but the holders stung them with a quick break and equaliser from Russ Hobson. Crookes went back in front with a Pete Smith header, but Crown were level at the break when skipper Dave Haggerty headed home.

The second half saw both sides struggle to create chances, but when a corner fell into the path of Crookes’ leading scorer Liam Cartledge he made no mistake. It looked as if it would be the winner, but in the final minute of added time a handball in the area saw Crown awarded a penalty which Hobson confidently fired home. Extra time saw neither side create a chance, so it went to penalties  and after nine successful penalties, including one by Crown keeper Tom Crosby, Crosby saved the tenth spot kick to send his team through to a second successive Bramall Lane final.

CBC PREMIER - Wickersley take over at the top, but Stannington and Penistone keep pace with them - With CBC Premier leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant in cup action, the chasing pack all won to push them down to fourth. Wickersley Youth took over at the top with a 3-1 victory over Norton Oaks A and both Stannington Village and Penistone Church also leapfrogged them with 5-1 and 4-0 wins over Killamarsh Juniors and Hallam FC respectively.

Wickersley took the lead through Drew Houghton after he was put through one on one by captain Kris Lee-Green and he coolly slotted home. It should have been two when the normally clinical Adam Daughtrey failed to hit the back of the net when it looked easier to score. Norton keeper Corey Hawksworth was keeping his side in the game and early in the second half his work was rewarded when a Rich Conway through ball allowed Jordan Marshall to equalise for Norton at the second attempt. Stung by that, Wickersley hit back and sub Ross Johnson fizzed a great ball in across the 6 yard box which Norton defender Alex Hughes unfortunately turned into his own net. Norton pushed for an equaliser, but it was Wickersley that scored a third when Alex Elwell was fouled in the box and captain Kris Lee-Green scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

Sam Scrivens, Lewis Dickinson, Mason Butcher and Daniel Walker goals saw Penistone Church beat bottom club Hallam FC 4-0 to go third, but above them is Stannington Village. They led at half time at Killamarsh Juniors when Lee Johnstone shut the keeper’s clearance down and tapped in the rebound. They increased their lead early in the second half when Ben Cook’s throw was flicked on by Jamie Middleton for Callum Pinhorn to finish. Matt Hague pulled one back for Killamarsh, but Danny Smith side-footed home to restore Stannington’s two goal lead. As the game got stretched, Arnie Grayson unselfishly set up Shaun Flynn for the visitor’s fourth and Flynn completed the scoring when he directed a Johnstone shot past the keeper. DIVISION 1 - Ranch hand out the first defeat on Legion and Oaks shock Woodhouse Village - The League's last unbeaten record fell as Ranch came from behind to beat Chapeltown RBL 3-2. A Ryan Robinson free kick from the halfway line deceived the keeper to put RBL in front, but another keeper error allowed Jay Lindsay to level from 25 yards. Ranch led at the break after Matt Jacobs beat the offside trap to lob the keeper. Ranch started the second half well and Tom Burns added their third with a header and although Kris Heald pulled one back for RBL, Ranch held on to end the visitors record.

Another title challenger, Woodhouse Village, suffered an even bigger shock 7-2 defeat as Jack Peake and Nasa Meah both hit hat-tricks for relegation threatened Norton Oaks B. Billy Ireland netted Oaks’ seventh, while Flint and Wilson scored for the shell-shocked Village.

Oughtibridge WM made no mistake though and they climbed up to second as Ross Brown hit a first half hat-trick in a convincing 10-1 win over Brinsworth Phoenix Callum Chambers got the ball rolling and he added another in the second half, while Evan Watson, Josh Walker, Matt Harrison, Jordan Smith and Harley Scholey added their others. Richard Ellin netted Phoenix’s consolation.

DIVISION 2 - Ord and Sherratt doubles lift Forum, but Jockey lose their Battle – Despite a Reece James goal, Wadsley Horse & Jockey missed the chance to return to the top of Division Two when Andrew Redfern and Adam Battle goals saw Shakey pull off their second successive win 2-1. Forum moved up to second as Matt Ord and Jav Sherratt doubles saw them to a 5-1 victory over fellow title challengers Boynton Sports. Josh Gibson netted Forum’s fifth, while Jake Ballinger netted for Sports. Mosborough Reds made it just one defeat in their last eight as a Josh Smith double helped them to a 3-1 victory over Cadbury. Jamie Damms headed Reds other, while Jacob Beech netted for Cadbury.

18 MAR - All games postponed - All the League and Sheffield FA Sunday Cup games were postponed due to the snow. The Sunday Cup ties will try again next weekend. This means some of next Sunday's League games will change and the referees for our League Twentytwo Cup ties will also change.

11 MAR - CBC PREMIER - Redmires put leaders at their Whit's end - CBC Premier leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant had a golden chance to extend their lead at the top when they visited last season’s runners-up Redmires. However, it did not go to plan as the home side recorded a 3-1 win. Tom Whiting was the man of the moment for Dave Knaggs’ men with a well taken double, whilst Andy Bath added a third. Pheasant did get a consolation through Lewis Fothergill in the closing stages, but it was a major jolt to the visitors’ title aspirations. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

With second placed Wickersley’s home game against Civil Sports A succumbing to a waterlogged pitch and a postponement, current champions Stannington Village closed within two points of the top two with a 6-2 away win at a Woodseats Club team struggling at the bottom end of the table. Goals from Dan Green and Cory Mann put Village two goals to the good at half time and they added four more in the second thanks to Dean Jepson, Alex Torr, Arnie Grayson and Danny Smith. Woodseats got some respectability with strikes form Owen and Turner but Stannington are seemingly moving into a groove now and will fancy their chances of retaining the CBC Premier title; especially with a game in hand on the leaders.

Intake Old Boys pushed Norton Oaks A further into the drop zone with a 5-3 away triumph. Liam Paterson gave Oaks the lead with a penalty but then Jonny Roper and Mark West combined for three straight goals which put the visitors well in command, West scoring twice and Roper once. A superb long-range effort from Joe Turner flew into the top corner for 1-4 before Paterson’s second reduced the arrears. West completed his hat-trick with a superbly taken individual effort when he danced his way through the Oaks defence before slotting the ball under the advancing keeper; yet Paterson had the final goal completing his hat-trick but not enough to save his team from defeat. A second half blitz helped Handsworth Old Crown to a 7-0 win at bottom placed Hallam FC which pushes the home side nearer to relegation. They did battle well in the first half and restricted Handsworth to a single goal, but the second half was a destruction. David Sills, Russell Hobson and Matt Ellis all bagged braces whilst James Leesley ensured the visitors went home with a comprehensive win under their belts.

DIVISION 1 - Legion at Long last end Sportsman's unbeaten record - Division One leaders Norton Sportsman suffered their first ever league defeat after a 36 match unbeaten run as Joe Long scored the winner for second place Chapeltown RBL, leaving them as the League's only unbeaten team this season. Chapeltown RBL now trail by just three points and have two games in hand over Sportsman. Jack Waymouth gave Norton the lead when he got the all-important decisive touch after a scramble, but Legion were on level terms when former Civil Sports B striker Jed Phillips rose highest to meet a Niall Smith left wing cross and power a header home. Smith had a hand in the winner too, laying the ball off to Joe Long who rifled home a twenty-yard effort into the top corner. Sportsman pushed for an equaliser but Legion custodian Ben Palmer ensured his side would celebrate the win with a series of sensational saves when the visitors found a way through.

Also three points behind and with two games in hand are third placed Oughtibridge WM as they recorded a 3-0 triumph at the expense of a battling Norton Oaks B. Ross Brown gave Oughtibridge the lead with a superb effort from the edge of the area which gave the Oaks keeper no chance whatsoever, before top scorer Callum Chambers was teed up by Brown for number two. The points were secured thanks to Ollie Black, Black firing home a penalty after Chambers had been brought down in the area.

Oaks' chances weren't helped as Ranch eased their relegation fears with the help of a Matt Jacobs hat-trick in their 9-0 victory over Colley. Ranch's other goals came from Chris Wajs, Tyrone Gunter, Tom Burns, Josh Naylor, Mike Vella and Jay Lindsay. Cotts FC's run of four wins out of five was brought to a halt as a Ben Bell double helped Cobden View to a 4-1 victory over them Ben Bell rang true for the home team with a double, whilst Ben Mayne and Will Cutler were also on target. Michael Blythen netted for Cotts but they could make little headway against a Cobden side who deserved the points despite finishing the game with ten men.

DIVISION 2 - Earl lord it at the top, while Boynton have a Ball - Division Two has its third leaders in as many weeks after a Steve Brammer and Tom Nolan trebles helped Royal Earl to a 9-1 victory at Woodseats Chantry and the top of the table. Earl's others came from Gareth Simons, Mike Towey and Callum Greaves whilst Chantrey's goal came from Rory Nolan.

Another hat-trick star in Division Two was Jake Ballinger of Boynton Sports as they kept up their title bid by recording a 5-0 win at Cadbury. Jermaine Modeste and Josh Jones also found the net. Shakey got themselves a much-needed win as they saw off Mosborough Whites 2-0 thanks to goals from Joe Woodhouse and Tyler Akroyd.

4 MAR - Tom's target ride for Nick - Wickersley Youth Old Village player Tom Walker is doing a 180 mile bike ride from London to Sheffield next Sunday 11th March in memory of his brother Nick, who passed away tragically 10 years ago to the day this Sunday. It’s been ten years since 16-year-old Wickersley Comprehensive pupil Nick Walker died after being hit by a bus outside school. But his family has ensured his memory lives on, with a series of fundraisers on his behalf, spurring them to create The Nick Walker Memorial Trust and now the Trust, which has already raised a staggering £67,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital in the past decade, has revealed hopes to break the £100,000 mark on March 11 - the tenth anniversary of Nick’y death - when his family and friends plan to complete a 180 mile non-stop cycle trek. Nick’s brother Tom will lead the ride, from London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, in just one day,leabing London at 2am and, hopefully, arriving in the city by 6pm.Tom said: “It’s going to be a very poignant day for us. We constantly think about Nick and wonder what he would be doing with his life at 26. Nick is missed by all at Wickersley Youth Old Village as the majority of their players were all close school mates to him, so the 10 year anniversary since his death will be a sad day for all at Wickersley and they will be doing a minutes silence before their game.

4 MAR - County FA Sunday Cup Semi-Finals - The draw for the semi-final of the County FA Sunday Senior Cup saw Redmires chances of becoming the first Blades Super Draw League team to reach the final given a boost with a home tie. They will face Mexborough & District Sunday League's title favourites Westville and it's an intriguing tie as Redmires put them out in Round Four last season with a 6-5 victory in a penalty shoot-out after the sides had been deadlocked at 2-2. The winners will face the winner of Rotherham's Joker v Wombwell Main from Barnsley. The ties take place on Sunday 18 March.

The League is certain to have at least one finalist in the Sunday Junior Cup as Division Two Royal Earl entertain Division One Southey Social. Despite being a division below their visitors, Earl will start favourites as they attempt to become possibly the first club to have won both the Senior and Junior Cups. The final could be an all-Blades Super Draw final for a second successive year as Division Two Mosborough Whites travel to Barnsley Premier League's Swaithe FC. It will be a tough ask for the Whites as Swaithe put out our Division Two leaders Crookes FC in the quarter finals, but the Whites came through their quarter final against Swinton Robin Hood against all the odds so they shouldn't be ruled out. The ties also take place on Sunday 18 March.
