20 JAN - February Fixtures and Referees now listed - The Fixtures and Referees for February 2018 are now listed in the Fixtures section. All home teams MUST make sure that their home pitch is available on all the dates shown. Please email Keith immediately if your pitch is not available on a date shown.

All home clubs must also confirm the details with your referees and opponents for all dates shown IMMEDIATELY. The home clubs should later (the Tuesday before the game) ring the referee to make sure the referee has got all the details.

Please email Keith immediately if any of the referees tell you they cannot do the fixture listed. Matches without referees must still go ahead and, if you have not been allocated a referee by the date of the game, the two clubs must agree on a stand-in 'referee' between them. Keith will still be working to gain more referees, so if you find one yourself, will you let Keith know immediately please.

14 JAN - Steelers call it a day - After struggling for players all season, Division One Steelers have finally decided to resign from the League. Their efforts to continue despite their struggles were appreciated by the League and we are sorry to lose them. All the results, goals and goalscorers for both them and any opponents they've played will be removed from the tables and goalscorers.

14 JAN - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP - Intake bow out - Intake Old Boys brilliant run to the quarter-final of the Sunday Senior Cup is unfortunately over as they came unstuck in their tie against Wombwell Main. The Barnsley based side recorded a 4-0 victory over the Old Boys and could face another of our sides in Redmires when the draw for the semi-finals is made. Despite their loss, Intake can be rightly proud of their efforts.

TWENTYTWO CUP - Holders see off Oaks again - In the last of the Twentytwo Cup quarter finals, Cup holders Handsworth Old Crown repeated their victory of last season's final over Norton Oaks to land a place in the semi finals for a third time, and they have gone on to win the cup on both the other occasions. Two set-pieces gave Crown a two goal half time advantage thanks to David Sills and Jordan Stocks. A third followed from David Haggerty before Oaks rallied with a reward from a long range effort from Alan Mowforth. Buoyed by this, Oaks continued to push but were hit on the break by Crown with James Leesley scoring their fourth. A curling effort by Mowforth, his second of the game, brought Oaks within two again but that was as close as they could get  and Crown ran out 4-2 winners. CBC PREMIER - Daughtrey at the double to keep Wickersley top - Over to domestic action now, and Wickersley still remain at the head of the CBC Premier after overcoming close challengers Killamarsh Juniors 2-0. Adam Daughtrey gave Lewis Carder’s leaders the lead with a cool finish from a Cory Goodwin pass which he slotted home with confidence. The same player doubled the lead with a well-executed chip over the Killamarsh goalkeeper, and it could have been more if his team-mates had brought their shooting boots with them.

Staying in touch are Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they recorded a 2-1 win against a very stubborn Penistone Church. Pheasant took the lead after a scramble in the box which saw Luke Beedham get the decisive touch and the advantage was extended when Dylan Parrott (left) finished powerfully after a long throw was flicked on by Beedham. Penistone came more into the game after that and reduced the margin to a single goal when Ben Matthews took advantage of a mix up in the home defence, but Pheasant held on.

Current CBC Premier champions Stannington Village got back to winning ways with a 3-0 home win over a Woodseats Club side still in the relegation zone. Bill Green (right) gave them a lead when he smashed a shot into the roof of the net and it was doubled when a Shaun Flynn corner was only cleared as far as Alex Torr who netted with a shot into the bottom corner. Lee Johnstone hit the Woodseats bar as Village continued to dominate and the points were secured when a long ball from Cory Mann was collected by Arnie Grayson and he finished well.

The final CBC Premier game came at Green Lane where Redmires and hosts Civil Sports A shook hands on a 1-1 draw which didn’t help either side’s bid to climb the table. A superbly taken effort by veteran Gary Eades gave Civil the lead and it was a lead they looked to hold until ten minutes from time. Tom Whiting was sent tumbling in the Civil penalty area, and former Civil striker Andy Bath assumed responsibility to level up from the spot.

DIVISION 1 - Bowland hits five as Sportsman go top, while Chapeltown go second - With the withdrawal of Steelers the League table saw quite a few changes. Taking over at the top are Norton Sportsman as they defeated a very plucky Colley 10-3 despite starting slow out of the blocks. Brad Bowland (left) plundered a first half treble as Norton went into the interval 6-0 ahead with Jack Waymouth, Callum Firth and James Archer also on target. Colley provided more of a game in the second half and got their rewards with goals from Christopher Onjia, Josh Buxton and a header from Faisal Miladi. However, Norton scored more goals of their own too with Bowland adding two more to go nap, and strikes from Waymouth (his second of the morning) and Danny Rogers to bring up the double figure haul.

Oughtibridge WM crashed to a 3-0 home loss to a well drilled Chapeltown RBL side that overtook their hosts into second place. Niall Smith’s well taken effort gave Legion the lead and their cause was helped further when David Booth was red-carded for a late challenge on Jed Phillips, reducing the home side to ten men after just quarter of an hour. Joe Long didn’t waste any time in taking advantage of the numerical change, racing clear to slot the ball past the advancing keeper for Legion’s second. In the second half Oughtibridge pushed on but couldn’t breach the visiting defence and the game was sealed when Danny Cardwell’s corner was bulleted home by Joe Wadsworth with an unstoppable header.

Matt Jacobs gave Ranch the lead at Norton Oaks B and they continued to control proceedings there as a Joe Denby double and one from Tyrone Gunter put them four goals ahead, making debutant Scott Birch’s strike for Oaks nothing more a consolation. John Mellor (right) gave Southey Social the lead at his former club Brinsworth Phoenix, but Joe Keighley levelled on his debut for the home side, however Southey came away with the points when Todd Guest scored a superb winner from just inside the area. Joe Taylor gave Civil Sports B the lead at Cotts but their bid for a first win of the season was derailed in the second half as Luke Kingswood and Kieran Patterson scored for the home team to ensure they would take home the three points .

DIVISION 2 - Civil treble keeps Jockey on top  - Seven days ago, Forum FCCO dismantled Division Two leaders Wadsley Horse and Jockey with a 7-1 win but Jockey got their own back in the return as they recorded a 6-3 victory. Sam Civil scored a hat-trick for the home side whilst Danny Barnsley, Danny Bent and Aaron Statham also netted against Forum whose goals came from player-manager Jamie Smith, Josh Gibson and Jav Sherratt.

Closing in on Forum are Crookes FC as they saw Woodhouse Juniors 5-1 thanks to a Liam Cartledge treble and further goals from Andy Parkin and Liam Morris, Woodhouse’s sole response coming from Luke Simmons. Just behind Crookes on goal difference are Mosborough Reds after a 10-1 against Crookes and District although it took them until ten minutes before half-time to breach the home defence. Joe Harris scored four for the Reds whilst additional goals came from Josh Smith with two, Ash Hotchin, Luke Fogg, skipper Jak Hotchin and an own goal. The sole Crookes & District goal coming from new signing Frank Koroma.

Two goals in the opening eight minutes proved enough for Boynton Sports against a battling Woodseats Chantrey, Ross Thompson opening the scoring after just forty-three seconds and Jake Ballinger adding the second. Royal Earl had a good day at the office as they hit nine goals without response against visitors Shakey. Shakey were in with a shout as they only trailed to first half goals from Tom Nolan and Mike Towey but then the roof seemed to cave in the second half as Nolan scored three more, Jake Mason added a double and singles from Steve Brammer and Charlie Myers to record a more comprehensive scoreline. And finally, it wasn’t a sweet day for Cadbury as they succumbed to a 4-0 loss to Mosborough Whites. Danny State scored twice for the Whites whilst Chris Calcott and Brad Gledhill were also on target.

7 JAN - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP - Intake game postponed - Intake Old Boys game at Wombwell Main was postponed for a second time and they will have to try again on 14 January. This also means that the Intake Old Boys v Hallam CBC Premier game is postponed

SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Mosborough make Swinton pay the penalty - There were no such weather problems when Mosborough Whites entertained Swinton Robin Hood in the Sunday Junior Cup. Swinton had sent Mosborough’s fellow Division Two side Boynton Sports out in the previous round, but could Mosborough succeed? It was a great tie and after extra time, the two sides had traded six goals apiece with Danny State’s brace and one from Jack Bennett on target for Whites. Penalties ended up settling it, and Liam Riley proved to be the hero of the day for Mosborough as they prevailed 4-3 in the shootout. A remarkable result considering Whites played with just nine men for forty-five minutes; thus meaning that there will be at least one Blades Super Draw League representative in this season’s Final as Mosborough joined Royal Earl and Southey Social in the last four. .

TWENTYTWO CUP - Pheasant hit back twice to pip Legion with a late Statham strike - Another brilliant game came in the delayed Twentytwo Cup quarter final as 2016 winners Wadsley Bridge Pheasant overcame Division One Chapeltown RBL by the odd goal in seven with a late winner. Chapeltown started well and took a two goal lead thanks to a penalty from skipper Danny Cardwell and Nathan Forbes’ first goal of the game. However, Pheasant were back on parity at half time thanks to Jordan Turner and an own goal. A quick counter attack saw Forbes restore the lead for Legion, but Kane Doughty headed the visitors level. Turner then saw red but there was still time for more drama as Josh Statham scored a winner for Pheasant seven minutes into time added on and break Chapeltown’s hearts. Like all our clubs today, the two teams and referee Tony Tierney paid tribute to referee Dave Fields with a minutes silence before the game - pictured left.

CBC PREMIER - Mawbe hits four to stun Redmires - There were three games in the CBC Premier Division, and Killamarsh Juniors took advantage of Wadsley Bridge Pheasant’s Cup distraction to leapfrog them by recording a superb 4-2 away win at last season’s runners-up Redmires. The star of the show was Callum Mawbey who scored four splendid individual strikes and gave the Redmires defence a real test. Tom Whiting and Andy Bath scored for Redmires who now slip into ninth place in the table but have played less games than those around them.

Moving into fourth place in the table are Penistone Church as they defeated Norton Oaks A 2-1. Lewis Dickinson and Brad Kemp put Church in command, and Norton were up against it when star striker Danny Reet saw red for a studs-up challenge. Liam Paterson pulled one back from the penalty spot for Oaks, but Penistone held firm for three points.

In the final CBC Premier game, current league champions Stannington Village got back to winning ways with a 3-0 away win at bottom placed Hallam FC. Goals from Dean Jepson, Shaun Flynn and last season’s league top scorer Alex Torr secured the points for Village.  Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

DIVISION 1 - More fours for Harrison and Walker send Oughtibridge to the top - In Division One Oughtibridge WM ascended to the top of the table on goal difference and look well placed for a return to the CBC Premier with a comprehensive 14-0 dismantling of Colley who now find themselves in the bottom three. Matt Harrison and Josh Walker both scored four apiece whilst Ross Brown added a brace. The remaining goals came from Chas Tunnard, Tom Fletcher, James Baker and Evan Watson whilst manager David Hudson donned the gloves and kept a clean sheet.

Just behind Oughtibridge and seeking a second successive promotion are Norton Sportsman as they recovered from a deficit to defeat Southey Social 5-3 away from home. Southey started well and were two goals ahead thanks to John Mellor and Josh Sugden. Jack Waymouth set up Chris Lewis to reduce the margin but Sugden’s second of the game from the penalty spot made it 3-1. Yet Sportsman then rallied. James Archer made it 3-2 before Brad Bowland scored his first of the morning to make it level from the penalty spot after Connor Pryde had been tugged back. A turn and shot by Bowland put Norton ahead for the first time with quarter of an hour left and then the same striker completed yet another hat-trick for his club when he stabbed the ball home from Pryde’s pass to give Norton the win.

Ranch recorded a much needed three points as they defeated Brinsworth Phoenix, 5-2. The home team started superbly and were three goals ahead thanks to goals from Matt Jacobs, Mitch Cowlishaw and a superb twenty-five yard effort from Jamie Lindsay which proved to be the goal of the game. Strikes either side of the interval from Dean Foreman, with a penalty, and Brad Hardy pulled Phoenix back within one, but Ranch kicked on again and two goals from Alex Mosley saw the home side win an important game in their battle to beat the drop. .

DIVISION 2 - Gibson treble sees leaders crumble  - JDivision Two leaders Wadsley Horse and Jockey saw their lead at the top of the table reduced to just three points as nearest challengers Forum FCCO recorded a comprehensive 7-1 win over the pace setting Wadsley. Josh Gibson scored a hat-trick, James Pemberton a brace and Antony Holmes and Jav Heffernan one apiece for Jamie Smith’s men who were inspired by a man of the match performance by Joseph Thompson. Wadsley’s sole reply came from Luke Hancock.

Moving into third place are Crookes FC as they saw off a depleted Woodseats Chantrey 10-0. Liam Cartledge (left) scored four for the home team, Peter Smith added a couple of his own whilst Joseph Jerrison, Mike Murphy, Andy Parkin and Paul Clements ensured the double figure haul. Mosborough Reds had been third at the start of play, but their promotion bid suffered a bit of a jolt as they drew 1-1 with a Cadbury side many expected them to beat. Holmes gave Cadbury the lead six minutes before the interval, but a penalty converted by Joe Harris gave Reds a point. The other game saw Woodhouse Juniors and Boynton Sports share four goals and a point each as they shook hands on a 2-2 draw; Tom Duffield and Sam Ledger scoring for Woodhouse whilst a Jake Ballinger penalty and Jermaine Modeste netted for Boynton who remain fifth in the table.
