Champs get Turn-ed over by
Pheasant and Redmires fall at Wickersley -
Jordan Turner and Lewis Fothergill both netted twice as Stannington
Village fell to their biggest ever League defeat, 5-0, at a Wadsley Bridge
Pheasant up to second. Pheasant tore into the Champions straight from kick
off and were soon rewarded when a cross into box by Dylan Parrott (left)
was finished off by Fothergill. Turner then beat the offside trap to
double their lead and Turner netted his second when he finished off a
quick break to make it 3-0 at the break. The second half with man of the
match Luke Beedham dominating for Pheasant, they continued to press
forward and Turner crossed for Fothergill to score his second and although
Shaun Flynn went close for Stannington, it was Pheasant that had the final
say when Parrott broke through to beat the keeper.
Last season's runners-up Redmires fell to their first defeat of the season, 2-1, at a Wickersly Youth up tp third in the table. Wickersley had lost every time they had previously met Redmires, but started off the stronger side and it needed the Redmires keeper to tip a Joe Mcguinness strike over to stop them taking the lead. Redmires started to get a foothold in the game and forced Wickersley keeper Ben Priestley to make two good saves, but Wickersley remained dangerous and took the lead when a Drew Houghton cross flew over the keeper into the far corner. Wickersley started the second half well on top and doubled their lead when Cory Goodwin's cross was met by a great Ben Thornton header and they should have made it three when Mike Cuckson took on three Redmires defenders, but fired over the bar when in the box. Tom Whiting pulled one back for Redmires to set up a nervy final 15 minutes, but Wickersley held on.
Carl
Bowler (right) hit the first as Handsworth Old Crown took their first
points of the season with a narrow 3-2 victory over Hallam. After a
bright start, Handsworth took the lead from a Bowler header from a
corner by Jordan Stocks and a Russ Hobson flick on. Handsworth doubled
their lead when a Phil Miskell through ball allowed Hobson to finish
clinically. Just before the break a fantastic save by Handsworth's
stand-in Carl Eaton stopped Hallam from pulling one back, but Hallam
came in to the game second half and got back in the game when James
Walsh smashed the ball home. Handsworth almost restored their two goal
lead when an outrageous Stocks effort from his own half hit the
underside of the bar, but the two goal advantage was restored when a
Miskell cross drifted in on the back post. A frantic finish saw Jack
Waddle convert a penalty for Hallam and that lead to sustained pressure
but Old Crown held on.
A first half Lewis Dickinson goal and a second half strike by Sam Scrivens saw Penistone Church win 2-0 at Civil Sports A, while Tntake Old Boys came from behind to beat Woodseats Club 2-1. Matt White was on hand to put Woodseats ahead when the Intake keeper dropped the ball, but Intake levelled when Darren Robinson's ball over the top allowed Jonny Roper to run through a slot home. The winner came when sub Alex Rippon's first touch was to cross for Dale Wood to head home.
DIVISION 1 - Chapeltown's own Butler serves them near the top of the table - Despite four Jack Hawkes goals, a Gav Butler hat-trick saw Chapeltown RBL come from two down to win a ten goal thriller with Brinsworth Phoenix 6-4 and go second in the table. In a topsy turvey encounter Hawkes fired Phoenix in front before Gav Butler levelled direct from a corner. Niall Smith then drilled in a low shot to put RBL in front, but Phoenix hit back with two more Hawkes strikes to lead 3-2 at the break. Hawkes stretched the lead to 4-2 early in the second half when Joe Wadsworth dwelt on the ball, but RBL fought their way back into the game with Butler's second. RBL then levelled when Wadsworth got his head to Smith's corner and five minutes later Wadsworth was there again, bulleting home his second and RBL’s fifth. Man of the Match Butler completed his hat trick to seal the points for RBL.
Another
to hit four was Civil Sports B's Jed Phillips (left), but they were more
successful and won 7-3 at Steelers. Charlie Hewitt with two and Tom
French netted Civil's others, while Callum Shaw with two and Matt Coates
replied for Steelers. A Josh Sugden hat-trick helped Southey Social to a
comfortable 5-1 win at Norton Oaks B. John Mellor and Scott Ellis added
Southey's others, while Mark Turton netted for Oaks. Cotts claimed their
first win of the season 2-1 at home against Ranch. Julian Lawrence gave
Ranch the lead, but Chris Blythen and Kieran Paterson both found the net
before half time and that's how it stayed in a second half where chances
were few and far between.
One
of the games of the day saw Oughtibridge WM came from four down to share
the points with Norton Sportsman in a 5-5 draw. Norton took the lead
with a Brad Bowland penalty after Harry Mitchell had been brought down
and their lead was doubled when a Michael Gibbons cross looped in. They
extended it on the stroke of half time with a Callum Frith solo goal and
it looked all over five minutes into the second half when Jack Waymouth
outpaced the Oughtibridge defence to lash the ball home. A Ross Brown
header pulled one back for Oughtibridge and Matt Cundy quickly added a
second for them. and an own goal from Even Watson's corner put them
right back into the game. Waymouth made it 5-3 with his second, but
Oughtibridge hit back yet again with Cundy's second of the game before a
blistering finish saw Chas Tunnard (right) leave the scores all square
with a terrific free kick.
DIVISION 2 - Jake has a Ball at leaders expense - Jake Ballinger netted a hat-trick as Boynton Sports ended leaders Wadsley Horse & Jockey's unbeaten record with a narrow 3-2 victory. Ballinger's first came from the penalty spot and he netted his second after good build up play was finished with a good header. Another smart move allowed Ballinger to finish with his left foot for a perfect hat-trick and give Boynton a three goal lead at the break. The second half showed why Jockey are the leaders and goals from Aaron Statham and Lewis Smith made it a nervy finish for Boynton, but they held on.
Second place Mosborough Reds also slipped to a narrow 4-3 defeat at Royal Earl. Jake Currie gave Earl a second minute lead and Steve Brammer and Mike Towey strikes just before half time gave them a three goal lead. Luke Fogg headed one back for Mosborough on the hour and just five minutes later Josh Smith ran down the left hand before slotting past the keeper to put Earl on edge. Earl restored their two goal lead with five minutes remaining, but they conceded a thrid in the final minute when Alex Ross scrambled the ball home. Crookes FC are up to third as Liam Cartledge, Dan Flynn, Simon Mirfin and Joel Purkiss strikes gave them a 4-0 home win over Cadbury, while Shakey gained their first home win of the season 3-1 at Woodseats Chantrey's expense. Danny Phelan, Lewis Armstrong and Joe Woolhouse netted for Shakey, while Jordan Sambrook scored for Chantrey. A Danny State treble and one from Sean May helped Mosborough Whites come from behind to share the spoils 4-4 with Woodhouse Juniors. Jordan Sorsby with two, Matt Megson and Dimitri White scored in Woodhouse's best performance of the season.

Sunday Cups 4th Round draws -
The draws for the Sunday Senior Cup was made today and it has thrown up
an all-Blades Super Draw tie between Norton Oaks A and Intake Old Boys -
a remarkable coincidence as the two also meet in the League Twentytwo
Cup two weeks earlier. Redmires will play host to Rotherham Premier
Division KP Pewter Pot and Wadsley Bridge Pheasant will also be at home
against another Rotherham Premier side, AFP. All ties to be played on 19
November.
In the Sunday Junior Cup Mosborough Whites entertain the Rotherham Third Tier side Swallownest Village that put out Norton Sportsman in the previous round and Royal Earl are also at home against another Rotherm Third Tier side Thrybergh SSC. Crookes FC travel to Rotherham 4th Tier side Maltby Rangers and Southey Social are also away at Pontefract side Upton Wrangbrook. All ties to be played on 19 November.

OCT - SUNDAY SENIOR CUP -
Gamban at the double for Redmires
as four go through -
In the huge all CBC Premier Division Senior Cup game, it was visitors
Redmires who overcame hosts Stannington Village 4-3 after extra time.
Jake Gamban (right) gave Redmires the lead with a well taken free kick,
only for an own goal to level matters up. Stannington then kicked on and
went 3-1 ahead thanks to strikes from Danny Smith and Shaun Flynn.
Gamban then centred for Andy Bath to reduce the arrears and George Rudd
restored parity with a shot that went in off the post. With five minutes
left before penalties, Gamban scored his second of the game and the
winner after Rudd’s shot had been blocked.
Also in the next round are Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they also defeated a fellow CBC Premier Division side in Handsworth Old Crown, 3-0. In blustery conditions throughout, Jordan Turner opened the scoring with a tap in and then a deflected effort doubled his and Pheasant’s tally. The tie was secured when Carl Andrews saw his wind assisted clearance bounce over the Old Crown keeper.
Intake Old Boys also secured their spot in the next stage with a 5-3 win at home to Thrybergh Top Club. Dale Wood led the scoring with a double, whilst further goals from Harry Chamberlain, Mark West and Harry Groombridge made up the tally. Norton Oaks A also kept a clean sheet as they disposed of St. Joseph’s Emu’s 4-0. An own goal and a long range strike from Alan Mowforth gave Norton a two-goal advantage lead at the break, and then additional strikes from Dom Jolly and Scott Graham completed a well-deserved win. SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Danny leaves Mosborough in a good State - In a mixed day for our clubs in the Junior Cup. Division Two Royal Earl edged out fellow Blades Super Draw League side Division One Oughtibridge WM in a well contested game which ended 2-1 to the hosts. Steve Brammer opened the scoring after just five minutes when he took advantage from a mistake by the Oughtibridge goalkeeper and Olly Beaumont doubled the lead with an early second half header from a Connor Chapel corner. Oughtibridge were never out of it and pulled one back in the last minute from Tom Fletcher; yet couldn’t force extra time in a game which they were hampered by the loss of their regular custodian in the game and forcing striker Matt Harrison to don the gloves.

Danny State treble left AFC Thirsty Flame extinuished as Mosborough
Whites recorded a 5-2 away win. Also, were on target for Mosborough were
Levi Williamson and James Thompson as they disposed of the team that had
beaten Brinsworth Phoenix in the previous round.
Crookes eased past fellow Division Two side Forum with also a 5-2 away
triumph. Parkin scored twice for Crookes, along with singles from Flynn, Wood and Bishop,
while Jamie Smith and James Pemberton replied for Forum. Also in are Southey Social as they recorded a
4-0 home win over Bolsover Town thanks to two John Mellor (right)
strikes and one each from Ryan Keeney and Ryan Whitney.
Three of our other sides exited though. Jack Peake scored for Norton Oaks B at Balma and the sides were still level at 1-1 after extra time, only for the hosts to win 3-1 in a penalty shootout. Norton Sportsman are also out after a 2-1 loss at Swallownest Village and had to cope with their regular keeper Connor Merone turning up at the wrong ground initially. James Archer had drawn Norton level only for a scrappy goal to prove the winner with ten minutes left. Boynton Sports also bit the dust, 4-1 at Swinton Robin Hood, Jake Ballinger’s penalty being their only solace.
CBC PREMIER - Killamarsh go clear at the top - In the two CBC Premier Division games, Killamarsh Juniors are three points ahead at the top thanks to defeating Woodseats Club 4-3. Nick Owen gave Woodseats the lead before Ryan Dickinson and a shot from distance from James Savage put Killamarsh ahead. Back came Woodseats into it thanks to goals from Bryan and Whittaker, yet the now clear CBC Premier League leaders stormed back for the win thanks to Montelle Kamara and Ryan Hall. Hallam FC recorded their first win of the season as they won the only other CBC Premier game, 3-2 at home to Civil Sports A. Andrzej Gordon-Hides gave Civil an early lead but Hallam came back into it with a couple of Jack Waddle penalties. Alex Fearn added a third for Hallam, and despite veteran Gary Eades putting away a penalty of Civil’s own: they couldn’t force a draw. The game between Penistone Church and Wickersley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
DIVISION
1 -
Theo treble helps Woodhouse
Village go clear -
Theo Wilson was the star of the show as Woodhouse Village recorded a
thumping 9-1 win over understrength Colley, scoring a treble. Village
led just 2-1 at the interval thanks to a Ollie Grady long range strike
and a Ryan Simmonite header, Josh Buxton scoring for Colley. However,
the floodgates opened in the second half as Village recorded seven
without reply. Wilson scored his hat-trick, Ryan Lee a brace and singles
from Danny Richards and a penalty from Harry Emery with his first ever
competitive strike.
Two goals in each half gave Chapeltown RBL the points at Civil Sports B. Danny Cardwell, with a penalty kick, and Callum Tuxford gave the visitors a 2-0 lead before further strikes from Gav Butler and a second of the morning by Cardwell sealed the deal. Also winning away were Ranch as they won 2-1 at Brinsworth Phoenix, thanks to goals from Matt Jacobs and Michael Vella which made Brad Hardy’s solo effort for the home side immaterial.
DIVISION 2 - Barnsley double keeps Jockey on top - Wadsley Horse & Jockey completed a quick double over Cadbury in Division Two, with another 3-1 win. Danny Barnsley scored twice and Sam Rollitt once as the leaders maintained their perfect record. Holmes scored for Cadbury. Doubles from Jordan Sorsby and Matt Moorwood were good enough for Woodhouse Juniors to pick up up their first win of the season; 4-2 at visitors Shakey’s expense. Shakey scoring through Billy Hilbert and Ross Ford.

twentytwo League Cup Round 3 draw -
The draw for Round 3 of the League twentytwo Cup was made 'live' by The
Star's Sheffield United reporter James Shield and the Daily Mirror
reporter Nathan Hemmingway at Bramall Lane on Saturday. The biggest tie
out of the hat was CBC Premier champions Stannington Village at home to
last season's Meadowhall Premier champions, now in our Division 2,
Crookes FC. Three all CBC Premier ties saw Hallam at home to cup holders
Handsworth Old Crown, Redmires at home to Wadsley Bridge Pheasant and
Intake Old Boys at home against last season's beaten finalists Norton
Oaks A. League newcomers Forum will be hoping to pull off a shock at
home to CBC Premier Civil Sports A, while there is certain to be at
least two non Premier sides from Division Two Mosborough Reds at home to
Division One Norton Sportsman and the all-Division One tie between
Southey Social and Chapeltown RBL. The last tie sees Penistone Church
entertain the winners of the delayed Round 2 tie between Boynton Sports
and Woodseats Club. Most ties to be played on Sunday November 5.

15 OCT - SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Boynton not too Modeste to go through - In their delayed Sunday Junior Cup tie, Boynton Sports secured a spot in round three next week as they defeated Todwick Villa 3-1. Jermaine Modeste scored twice and former Stannington defender Marc Peacock found the net for Boynton and send them on a trip to Swinton Robin Hood next Sunday.
LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP - Joe shows Earl How, while Fereday's the law as Sportsman stop Killamarsh - Despite losing all three of their league games, Hallam, with Chris Waddle playing his part, finally found some form to arguably create the shock of the day as two Joe Howsham strikes helped them put out the very highly rated League newcomers Royal Earl 4-2. The sides had traded four goals with Gareth Simons and Paddy Carrig scoring for Earl and Dan Fox and Jonathan Sheldon for Hallam to take the tie to extra time and it was Howsham's brace that clinched the win for Hallam. Another
entertaining game saw Norton Sportsman and CBC Premier side Killamarsh
Juniors also draw 4-4 after extra time. Mark Fereday (with two), Brad
Bowland (right) and Chris Lewis netted for Norton whilst Matt Stead; with
a brace of his own including one penalty), James Savage and Callum Mawbury
found the target for Killamarsh. In the shootout, Killamarsh could only
hit the target once, hit the post and had two kicks saved by Norton goalie
Connor Merone whilst Sportsman were perfect thanks to Bowland, James
Archer and Michael Gibbons whose kick proved to be the decisive one.
Another tie that was decided by penalties saw Forum go through at Oughtibridge WM. They were locked at 4-4 after extra time and had to separated on a penalty shootout which the visitors won 4-2 with Antony Holmes scoring the decisive kick. The home side only had themselves to blame as they squandered a 3-0 half time lead with goals from Matt Harrison, Strachan Sampson and an own goal giving them an early advantage. Javan Sherratt, Holmes and Matt Ord cancelling it out to force extra time. Harrison’s second of the morning restored Oughtibridge’s lead before a James Pemberton penalty in the closing stages of the extra thirty led to the shootout.
Cup
holders Handsworth Old Crown are also through after they defeated Cobden
View 3-2. Russell Hobson gave Crown a first minute lead only for Ben Bell
to level, Goals from Jordan Stocks and Matt Ellis (left) put the home side
3-1 ahead, only for Lee Mansell to reduce the arrears and force an
interesting finish. Another thriller happened in the all CBC Premier tie
between Wickersley and Redmires with the visitors edging it by the odd
goal in seven. Andy Bath and Jake Gamban both scored twice for Redmires
whilst Wickersley were on target thanks to a Ross Johnson double and
Ainsley Finney.
Another shock came as Ashley Sherritt scored twice as Division Two newcomers Mosborough Reds brushed aside Brinsworth Phoenix 5-0. Connor Fields and a thirty-yard screamer from Joe Harris had Mosborough two goals ahead as the game entered its final stages before an Ash Sherritt brace and one from Luke Fogg ensured the spoils went with the visitors. It was the end of the road for Mosborough Whites though as they missed a late penalty and fell 2-0 to Ryan Damms and Todd Guest strikes for Southey Social.
Division One side Cotts FC took the lead at Civil Sports A when Salem Hizam took advantage of a blooper from home custodian Joshua Branch but Civil fought back to make the third round thanks to a brace from Leon Howarth, one a penalty, and Gareth Griffiths, but it wasn't so good for the Civil Sports B as Division Two newcomers Crookes FC beat them 11-1 at Warminster Road. Liam Cartledge scored four whilst there were single strikes from Cowen, Islip, Mirfin, Murphy, Simpson, Morris and Rowley. Civil’s sole response came from Ben Firth as they were comprehensively beaten. Also in the goals were CBC Premier side Penistone Church as they came from an away trip to Colley with an 8-1 victory. Lewis Dickinson scored a hat-trick and Tom Sidebottom a brace as Church secured their place in round three. Sam Scrivens, Mitch Savage and Joe Cross completed the scoring with Josh Buxton scoring Colley’s consolation.
Intake Old Boys are another CBC Premier Division in the last sixteen as they recorded a 3-1 home win over The Shakey. Goals from Roper, Wood and Cook were on target for Intake whilst Woodhouse scored Shakey’s only goal. Ste Scott created all three goals for Norton Oaks A as they also progressed 3-0 at the expense of Woodhouse Village with Liam Paterson, Kenny Brakes (his third in three games) and Alan Mowforth being the beneficiaries. CBC Premier side that made it through are Wadsley Bridge Pheasant as they
defeated Ranch 3-1. Kane Doughty and Adam Askwith (right) put them two
goals to the good before Michael Vella reduced the arrears; only for Lewis
Fothergill to score a third Pheasant goal and seal the tie. Gavin Butler
scored twice for Chapeltown RBL as they overcame fellow Division One side
Norton Oaks B 3-2. Keenan Gibson scored what turned out to be the game
winner after Jack Peake and a penalty from Nasa Meah had hauled Oaks back
on level terms.
DIVISION 2 - Bent at the double to extend Jockey lead, while a Jordan Sambrook treble gets Chantrey off the mark - Two games in Division Two concluded the action. Wadsley Horse and Jockey stayed at the head of the table as they defeated Cadbury 3-1, helped by a couple of Danny Bent strikes. Danny Barnsley also scored for Wadsley whilst Holmes was Cadbury’s only respondent. Woodseats Chantrey also enjoyed a win with a comprehensive 8-0 away triumph at Crookes and District. Man of the Match Jordan Sambrook led the scoring with three, Brad Gray weighed with two (one a penalty) and goals from debutant Danny Cornell-Bishop, Rhys Oakes and Jordan’s cousin Gavin Sambrook completed the scoring.

Sunday Cup 3rd Round Cup draws -
The draws for the Sunday Senior and Sunday Junior Cups two all-Blades Super Draw League ties come out of
the hat in each competitions. In the Senior Cup, last season's semi
finalists Redmires travel to the Stannington Village side that pipped
them to our League title on goal difference, while Wadsley Bridge
Pheasant play host to Handsworth Old Crown - both sides trying to add
the Senior Cup to the Junior Cup they have both won in recent seasons.
In the Junior Cup the two stand-out ties are Forum at home to fellow
Division Two newcomers Crookes FC, and Division Two Royal Earl at home
to an Oughtibridge WM that scored 13 in the previous round and have yet
to drop a point in Division One.
All ties in both competitions are scheduled for Sunday 15 Oct.
The ties involving our clubs are as follows:

Six go through, but three crash

In the Sunday Senior Cup Blades Super Draw
League clubs had a good day with five of them winning their ties and only
three failing to progress. Leading the way were current CBC Premier
Champions Stannington Village as they won 6-3 at Red Lion Bombers. Alex
Torr, with a brace, and single strikes from Sean Flynn and Adam Todd had
them 4-2 at the interval and despite missing a host of chances in the
second they added more goals from Ben Cook and Dean Jepson to ensure they
were in the hat for round three.
Aaron Liles and Kenny Brakes, the latter’s second goal in as many weeks, put Norton Oaks “A” in command at home to Albert. Despite it being a close 2-1 game at the interval, Norton upped their game in the second half and scored three unanswered goals thanks to a brace from Jordan Marshall and Patric Winter finishing off a brilliant team move. Also recording a 5-1 home win were Handsworth Old Crown as they saw off KCM Fighting Cocks. David Haggerty and Matt Ellis both scored twice and Russell Hobson once as a dominant performance, purely in the second half, gave Old Crown a deserved win.
Wadsley Bridge Pheasant enjoyed their trip to Worsborough Common and came away with a well rewarded 6-2 win. Jordan Turner led the individual scoring with a hat-trick whilst a couple from Adam Askwith and one from Joe Slater made it a good morning’s work for the visitors. Our fifth side winning their tie were Intake Old Boys as they came through by the odd goal in five against Groves Social. Goals from Wood, Heald and Turner proved to be the difference there; and Redmires are also through but they didn’t kick in a ball to do as planned hosts AFC Schoolboy forfeited the tie due to being unable to raise a team. Biting the Sunday Senior Cup dust though were Penistone Church as they lost 5-3 at Balby Bridge in a game that the Penistone team felt shouldn’t have been played due to the pitch condition: Lewis Dickinson, Scott Briggs and George Orrell on target for Church. Wickersley’s trip to Monkwood also ended in a loss as they were defeated 4-2, Ben Thornton and Matt Godley scoring for Lewis Carder’s team. Woodseats Club also fell by the wayside as Joker had enough about them to record a 4-1 away win. Club missing a penalty with a quarter of an hour left when 2-0 down proved to be the turning point as the visitors then scored a third, and although Whittaker pulled one back, a fourth in the last minute secured the visitors had the final say. SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Eight go through, but three fall - In the Sunday Junior Cup, Oughtibridge WM made it unlucky thirteen for their hosts Greasbrough Reserves as they romped to a comprehensive away win. Callum Chambers and Matt Harrison both scored four times whilst doubles off Ollie Black and Chaz Tunnard plus a Callum Simms strike completed the rout. Danny Booth was outstanding in the Oughtibridge midfield, pulling all the strings and generally being unplayable.
A Liam Cartledge hat-trick proved to be the catalyst behind Crookes FC’s 5-1 win at home to Elsecar Fitzwilliam Arms, Cowen and Pemberton also being on target. Also winning 5-1 were Norton Sportsman, as they recorded that at Highgate. Jack Waymouth and Brad Bowland both scored a pair and Chris Lewis also netted for a nap hand. Scoring doubles were Nasa Meah and Matt Jessermino for Norton Oaks “B” as they recovered from conceding an own goal at home to Café Sport Comrades, Will Carlisle also scored for Oaks as they ended up winning 5-2.
Southey Social were always in command of their tie at home to Manor Barn. Ryan Whitney and Todd Guest put them in command and a second half double from Josh Sugden gave Social a comfortable 4-0 win at the end. Two from Antony Holmes, and further goals Carter Mupwaya and Javan Sherratt ensured Forum’s path at the expense of Woodhouse Athletic whilst Jack Bennett scored both goals for Mosborough Whites and make their lengthy trip to Langold Lakeside a worthwhile one. In the all Blades Super Draw League tie, it was Royal Earl who came out on top against hosts Ranch. Earl had six different scorers in Steve Brammer, Mike Towey, Jack Hargreaves, Tom Roebuck, Ryan Hindley and Chris Wood as they overcame their Division One hosts who had Ash Betts and an own goal to account for their tally.
Exiting the Junior Cup were Brinsworth Phoenix as hosts AFC Thirsty Flame extinguished them with a 4-2 home win; goals from Joe Statham and Nathan Darwent for the visitors. Woodseats Chantrey were left rueful as they were beaten 4-3 at home by Queens Head Hoyland. Chantrey were ahead after twenty minutes thanks to Charlie Hawkins but Queens then scored four answered goals to put the match seemingly beyond reach. However, the home team rallied in the final quarter of an hour and goals from Danny Lonsdale and Jordan Sambrook made it an interesting finish but they couldn’t get another to force extra-time. Boynton Sports home tie against Todwick Villa was postponed until next week.
CBC PREMIER - Kamara gives Civil a Killa blow to send Juniors top - There was only a sole game in the CBC Premier Division and a Leon Howarth penalty seemingly put Civil Sports “A” on the right track at Killamarsh Juniors. Inspired by some fine goalkeeping by veteran James Abramski at one end, Killamarsh took a firm hold of the game at the other with four unanswered second half strikes. Chris Savage and Josh Batterham put them in front and they never relinquished it. Montelle Kamara with a brace, his first a superb thirty yard free-kick into the top corner, secured a 4-1 home win and as a result sent Killamarsh to the head of the CBC Premier table.
DIVISION 1 - Sam's the man to send Village back to the top - In Division One Woodhouse Village are the new leaders after a 4-2 win at a Civil Sports “B” side still looking for their first points of the season. Sam Fewkes scored a double for Village to take them there whilst Theo Wilson and Chris Salt also netted in the battle of the newly promoted sides; Civil’s scores coming from Ben Firth and Jack Challenor. Two penalties from Joe Taylor helped Cobden View to a similar win at Cotts FC in a well contested game. Salem Hizam and Tom Houghton scored for the home side but Josh Limbrick and Tim Pitt also netted for Cobden to hoist them into fourth place

Jockey Mitch too good for Reds to
go top -
Division Two action saw
Wadsley Horse and Jockey become the new leaders after a 5-2 win at
previously unbeaten Mosborough Reds. Two goals in the opening six minutes
gave the visitors the lead and they would never let it go after that.
Mitchell Simnett scored twice for Jockey whilst further strikes from Danny
Barnsley, James McCormick and Ross Lamkin ensured they went nap; Joe
Harris scoring twice for Reds. Billy Hilbert scored a hat-trick for Shakey
as they defeated Crookes and District 6-1 on the road. New signing James
Lippett had levelled matters for Crookes, but Shakey kicked on with Ross
Ford, Steve Dickinson and Adam Smith also finding the net. And finally,
Cadbury enjoyed a sweet away trip to Woodhouse Juniors: winning 2-1 thanks
to goals from Holmes and Waite; Matt Megson being the home side’s solitary
scorer.

Penistone to send Oaks to the top -
Only a small handful of games were played in
the Blades Super Draw League, and in the games that were played there were
twenty-five goals scored. In the first of two CBC Premier games, Norton
Oaks are the new leaders after a Kenny Brakes goal (right) gave them a
narrow 1-0 win over visitors Penistone Church. Penistone had the lion’s
share of the game throughout, but the winner came when an Alan Mowforth
corner was poked home by central defender Brakes. Penistone also finished
the game with ten men when Oaks’ Scott Graham was brought down on a
one-on-one, and now slip into the bottom five. More action from the game

Leapfrogging them in the CBC Premier are Wickersley after they recorded a 5-3 away win at hosts Intake Old Boys. The visitors took the lead when a Cory Goodwin cross was headed in by Ross Johnson and the same player doubled the lead with a shot into the roof of the net after some good team play. It became three when Ainsley Finney scored his first of the season, but on the stroke of half time Harry Chamberlain reduced the arrears with a sweet volley from a Mark West delivery. Johnson was denied a hat-trick goal by the Intake keeper before Finney’s second of the morning regained the three-goal margin. Visiting skipper Kristian Lee-Green ensured Wickersley went nap before strikes from Jack Heald and Dale Wood gave the scoreline a more respectable look for Intake.
DIVISION 1 - Village toppled by Sportsman - Norton Sportsman ascended to the top of Division One as they recorded a splendid 4-0 away win at Woodhouse Village. Sportsman took the lead against the run of play when Chris Lewis got his head to a flighted free-kick and Jack Waymouth doubled it with a great curling shot from twenty yards out. Waymouth had a hand in the other two goals, unselfishly squaring the ball for Brad Bowland to make it three just before half time and then crossing for new signing Connor Pryde to make it four.
Chapeltown RBL are still in the mix despite sharing six goals with visitors Ranch. A brace from Ash Burbeary put the home team in command before Michael Vella pulled one back only for Joe Wadsworth’s firm header from a well taken Danny Cardwell free-kick put Chapeltown 3-1 ahead. The goals in the first half kept coming, Mitch Cowlishaw reducing the margin and setting up an intriguing second half. With quarter of an hour left, Ranch were back on parity when Alex Mosley scored from the spot and after this both sides almost won it: Tyrone Gunter having a goal chalked off for Ranch and Burbeary going close for Chapeltown with a chip that landed narrowly wide.
DIVISION 2 - Reds go top - There was only a solitary game in Division Two, and Mosborough Reds profited from it to record a 5-1 home win over opponents Woodseats Chantrey and become the new leaders. The damage was done in the opening half an hour as goals from Scott Williams, Ash Hotchin and Brad Haigh put Mosborough three goals to the good. Midway through the second half, Joe Harris’ free kick was parried by the Chantrey custodian and Luke Newman netted the rebound. Danny Lonsdale’s fierce shot two minutes later pulled a consolation goal back for the visitors only for Reds’ to go nap with nineteen minutes left when confusion reigned in the away penalty area and Jack Hotchin tapped the ball home.
