31-MAY - Seven teams join the League for the 2017-18 season - The League is pleased to announce that seven teams will join the League for the 2017-18 season. They include the Meadowhall Premier champions, Crookes and the Sheffield Imperial Premier champions, Forum. Also from the Meadowhall Premier is Royal Earl and Mosborough Reds, and they are joined by Meadowhall Division 1 champions Mosborough Whites. A second Imperial League team, Boynton Sports also join us along with a completely new team, Wadsley Horse & Jockey. All will start in what must be the strongest Division 2 in League history. There is four of our existing teams that are folding - Woodhouse Angel, City Taxis, Ecclesfield Players Lounge and Dale WMC - and we thank them for their participation in the League.

A crowd in excess of 600 braved a very
chilly eveing to see FC Handsworth Turf (far left) lift
the League twentytwo Cup for a second time as
two goals from James Leesley helped clinch a 4-0 victory
over fellow CBC Premier side Norton Oaks A at Bramall
Lane. Leesley was still pipped to the Sheffield Trophy

Both sides looked to get on the front foot at the outset, but neither could find a away through until, on eighteen minutes, Goodinson received the ball wide on the right and after going past a defender he produced the perfect cross for James Leesley to plant a terrific header past Oaks keeper Ben Birtles (pictured right). Oaks tried to respond with Younes Mekhalfia and Patric Winter trying to find leading scorer Danny Reet, but Mike Golland and skipper David Haggerty looked in no mood to let Oaks back into the game.
After a couple of half chances
were wasted, five minutes before the break Turf doubled

he once again produced the perfect cross for veteran
Russell Hobson to twist and plant a firm header past
Birtles (pictured left). It was almost three just before
the break when James Leesley burst past a couple of
defenders and he was only stopped outside the penalty
area when he was tripped by Oaks skipper Kenny Brakes,
but with two other defenders getting back to cover

Oaks player/manager Andy Dawson tried to rally his team at the break and an early chance almost fell to Liam Paterson until it was snuffed out by a combination of Greg Taylor and Danny Leesley, but it was the Turf midfield that was winning the midfield battles and their third came when a through ball found James Leesley in space down the middle and he produced a finish low into the corner (pictured 1st right). David Sills almost grabbed a fourth for Turf, but it did come late in the game when another move down the right saw the ball crossed for another of Turf's long serving players, Ben Shackshaft, to produce a simple finish (pictured far right). Turf manager Adam Johnson knew his last game before stepping down was going to produce a trophy and his skipper Dave Haggerty and Man of the Match Ryan Goodinson stepped up to receive the Cup from Sheffield United's Super Draw Lotto manager Mick Rooker. Thursday 4 May with a 7:30pm kick-off. Entrance to the game will be £5 for

28-APR - DIVISION 1 - Penistone beat Legion to celebrate the title - Champions Peniston Church celebrated taking the Division One title with a 6-0 victory over Chapeltown RBL. Doubles from Lewis Dickinson and George Orrell, plus one from Callum Lee and one from Division One's top scorer Tim Council saw Penistone complete their season in style.
23-APR - CBC PREMIER - Stannington lose to Redmires but pip them to the title on goal difference - The CBC Premier title decider between hosts Redmires and visitors Stannington Village produced an epic battle with Redmires coming out on top 5-4, but the title went to Stannington. Redmires went into the final game of the season knowing they had to win by four goals to pip Stannington to the title and despite Stannington conceding just three goals in their previous 9 away games, Redmires chances of doing it took an upturn when player/manager Dave Knaggs gave them a two minute lead. Stannington quickly responded though and levelled when Bill Green headed home his first of the season from a Lee Johnstone corner. Bath put Redmires ahead a second time, but they were pegged back almost immediately when Ben Cook put the ball into Alex Torr's path and he danced past two defenders before beating the keeper.
Redmires came out all guns blazing after the break and it looked like they might do it when Bath scored his second from a Jake Gamban cross, before George Rudd hit a fourth. Redmires skipper Jon Wall then hit a post, but Stannington weathered the storm and pulled one back when a free kick was headed down by Green for Danny Smith to sidefoot home. Smith was involved again when Stannington equalised again when his corner was met by Torr to blast home to take his season's tally to 34 and make him the Premier's Leading scorer. Redmires weren't to be denied a deserved victory though and it was Bath that did it when he completed his hat-trick with just a few minutes. The result left the teams tied on points and goals scored, but Stannington had conceded 5 fewer goals than Redmires so the CBC Premier title went to Stannington for a fifth time, including four of the last five, while Redmires took the Runners-Up spot for the third time. Elsewhere the two League twentytwo Cup Final teams warmed up for it with victories, with Norton Oaks A beating Civil Sports A 4-1 and FC Handsworth Turf beating City Taxis 7-1. Dom Jolly gave Oaks a half time lead and Danny Reet doubled it with a penalty soon after the break. Youness Mekhalfia found the top corner to make it three before Zak Fleming-Wright pulled one back for Civil. Oaks had the final say though when Patric Winter was released down the middle and he found the bottom corner. Turf took the lead when Paul Turner scored on his first start of the season from a Tom Smith cross. Scott Westney levelled for Taxis, but two Rikki Davidson strikes and a second for Turner gave Turf a 4-1 half time lead. The second half saw Ben Shackshaft score two headers from Tom Crosby corners before Davidson completed his hat-trick and the scoring.
DIVISION
1 -
Penistone win at Woodseats to
seal the title -
Leaders Penistone Church (right) took the
Division One title with a 6-4 victory at a Woodseats Club that have to
settle for the Runners-Up spot. The teams went into the game knowing that
Woodseats had to win to keep their title hopes alive, but it was Penistone
that drew first blood after less than a minute when Tom Almond was found
in space on the edge of the box and he drilled the ball into the bottom
corner. Penistone doubled their lead on 16 minutes with a Sam Scrivens
strike and although Sam Read pulled one back with a terrific strike,
Penistone responded immediately with a second from Scrivens. The title was
as good as decided a minute before the break when Lewis Dickenson scored a
fourth for Penistone. Read second for Woodseats gave them hope, but a long
range strike by Brad Kemp kept them at arms length. Lewis Whitaker again
reduced the arrears, but Dickenson's second kept Penistone in charge,
meaning that Jordan Haigh's late strike for Woodseats was just a
consolation.
The day's other Division One game saw
bottom club Dale WMC finally gain their first win of the season, 3-0 over
Ecclesfield Players Lounge. Daz Mitchell scrambled home the first after
eight minutes following a cross from Stef Rankine. Shann Marsland doubled
the lead when he turned a defender before going through to score and
despite having Sam Roberts as an injured passenger on the wing, the second
half saw Jake Schofield hit a third to ensure Dale's first win of the
season.
DIVISION 2 -
Brad Bowls Woodhouse over, while
Colley miss out on a top six spot -
Brad Bowland (right) scored four goals as the new Division Two Champions
Norton Sportsman beat Woodhouse Juniors 9-0 to become the first team for
three seasons to complete the season unbeaten in the league. Bowland's
four goals look set to make him the League's Overall Leading Scorer, while
Norton's others came from Jack Waymouth with two, James Archer, Will
Warhurst and a Mike Appleyard penalty The day's other Division Two game
saw doubles by Ben Bell and Tim Pitt and one from Lee Mansell give the new
Runners-Up Cobden View a 5-0 victory over a Colley side that finished in
seventh place. Pictured left is Cobden View receiving the trophy from

1 -
Sampson too strong for Legion -
Strachan Sampson (left) netted a hat-trick as Oughtibridge WM completed
their season with a 7-2 home victory over Chapeltown RBL. The home side
soon scored when Sampson score a wonderful volley from outside the box and
Matt Harrison made it two after great work by Chas Tuunnard, Sampson added
a third and his second with another spetacular finish before Matt Cundy
fired home number 4. In the second half Ross Brown added two more before
man of the match Sampson scored his third with another wonder strike,
while both Chapeltown's goals came from Danny Cardwell.
DIVISION 2 - Cobden celebrate with a win, while Colley keep sixth place in sight - Norton Oaks B opened the scoring at home to Colley through Sam Wells and looked the better side for the first 20 mins. Colley started to get into the game with the introduction of Josh Buxton up front and with five mins of the first half remaining they equalised when a cross to the back post was put away by Buxton. The second half saw Colley get a grip and scored what turned out to be the winner on the hour mark. Ridha Miladi's shot came back of the crossbar for Tom Fidler to volley home. Both sides created more half chances, but Colley held on and just a point from their final game against Cobden View would be enough for Colley to finish sixth. Division Two runners-up Cobden View won their penultimate game 3-1 at Woodhouse Juniors. Lee Mansell, Joe Taylor and Tim Pitt gave Cobden a deserved three goal lead at half time, but a more even second half saw Woodhouse pull one back through Ross Dunlop.

16-APR - Congratulations to the Blades - Congratulations to everyone at Sheffield United in taking the League 1 title. Chris Wilder and the team have had a sensational season.
16-APR - CBC PREMIER - Civil rip Redmires title bid to shreds - Second place Redmires suffered a jolt in their CBC Premier Division title aspirations when they slipped to a 3-2 away defeat at Civil Sports “A”. The home side had the perfect start with a goal in the opening minute when top scorer Gary Eades tapped in from close range; but player-manager Dave Knaggs continued his run of goalscoring form with the equaliser. Thomas Bamford made it 2-1 to the Green Lane men with a fine strike from outside the area, and Danny Parker added a third. With ten minutes left, a Steven Parry effort hit the post and Mikey Taylor netted the rebound for a tense finish. But Civil held on, leaving the stage set for an interesting finale next Sunday, when Redmires have to beat leaders Stannington by at least four goals to take title.
Brinsworth Whitehill marked their manager Lewis Carder’s birthday with an incredible 4-3 comeback win over Twentytwo Cup finalists Norton Oaks “A” after the visitors had raced into a 3-0 half time lead. Liam Paterson opened the scoring when he lofted the ball over the Whitehill keeper one on one, Danny Reet produced a chip from the edge of the area and finally Younes Mekhalfia added the third with a drilled effort through a forest of legs into the bottom corner. Yet Brinsworth bounced back in style with goals from Adam Daughtrey, Cory Goodwin and Ainsley Finney. Finney got the winner with ten minutes to go when some brilliant work by Kris Lee-Green saw him make a mockery out of three Norton defenders in the penalty area before setting up the striker for an easy finish.
DIVISION 1 - Penistone see off Intake to go back to the top - The lead at the top of Division One changed hands yet again as Peniston Church went back to the top with a 2-0 victory at an Intake Old Boys that finish fourth. It was a game of few chances but Penistone opened the scoring when hard work from Lewis Dickinson saw him set up Tom Almond to drive the ball home and they secured the points seven minutes later when Sam Scrivens did superb work on the right touchline to evade two Intake defenders and then cross for George Orrell to head home via the left hand post. The win meant Penistone are definitely promoted and they will take the title if they avoid defeat at second placed Woodseats Club next weekend. The
day's other Division One game saw Ecclesfield Players Lounge win 1-0 at
AFC George. In a league campaign that has been far from plain sailing,
Ecclesfield PL finally recorded a much needed win when Danny Barnett
(right) beat the AFC George offside trap in the second half and then
drilled home an effort from eighteen yards out for the game winner. It was
a game that had very few chances throughout but Ecclesfield will pinpoint
to performances from Gavin Hunter; who controlled midfield; and Ryan
Keeney at centre back as their key to taking the points whilst Andy Baxter
made his hundredth appearance for the Club.
DIVISION 2 -
Woodhouse Village are third after
Chantrey stop Civil B in their tracks -
Woodhouse Village (far left) took the third automatic promotion place
without kicking a ball after Woodseats Chantrey beat fourth place Civil
Sports B 3-2. Civil needed to win the game by four clear goals, but they
were stopped in their tracks by Chantrey's best performance of the season.
Chantrey opened the scoring with a looping header from Ben Raynes which
was cancelled out by Jed Phillips’ (left) league goal number 34 of the
season. Ben Dronfield produced an exocet to restore the Chantrey's lead
only for Brendan Drew to draw Civil level again. Ten minutes from time,
the winner came from Chantrey’s side when Brad Gray hammered home a
penalty which the Civil keeper got a hand to but couldn’t keep out and the
home team held on for the points
Elsewhere,
Norton Sportsman celebrated taking the title in style as Brad Bowland took
his season's tally to 32 with a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over Steelers.
The title celebrations flowed as Sportsman recorded their nineteenth win
of the league season. Along with Bowland's hat-trick, Waymouth with a
brace and one from Joe Muress netted for Sportsman whilst Fraser Oxley
netted Steelers lone strike.
Woodhouse Juniors gained just their second home win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Colley. Tom Bland gave them the lead after twenty minutes but Josh Buxton equalised for Colley to send the sides in level after a very evenly contested first half. Colley had a bit more of the second half, but with ten minutes to go they got caught out and Matt Megson profited from the break to score what proved to be the match winning goal.

1 -
Killamarsh see off Legion to seal
promotion, while Woodseats stay in title hunt -
Killamarsh Juniors (right) sealed promotion from Division One with a 4-0
victory over Chapeltown RBL. Robin Holmes set Joe Glover up to open the
scoring and James Savage got the second, finishing from a tight angle.
Montelle Kamara made it three and the win was sealed by Innocent Huley.
After a gpalless first half in which Southey Social probably had the best
two chances, Woodseats Club came out much stronger in the second half and
took a 2-0 victory with goals from Sam Read and Liam Bryon. Woodseats now
need one win from their final two games to seal promotion and they could
yet take the title.
DIVISION
2 -
Sportsman take the title, while
Civil give themselves a chance of automatic promotion -
After going behind to a Kelly goal for
Cadbury, Norton Sportsman (left) hit back to win 4-1 to take the Division
Two title at their first attempt. Brad Bowland equalised before half time
from the spot after he had been held in the area, but when Norton were
awarded a second penalty after the break, it was the Cadbury keeper that
came out on top with a terrific save from Bowland's spot kick. Norton kept
up the pressure and Joe Muress found man of the match Jack Waymouth for
him to put them ahead. Danny Rogers then finished a surging run with a
shot into the top corner, before Chris Winters headed home the fourth.
Jed Phillips took his season's tally to 33 with four goals as Civil Sports B closed on the third automatic promotion place with a 7-0 victory over Woodhouse Juniors. Joe Taylor with two and Alex Knight scored Civil's others and they now need to win their final game at Woodseats Chantrey by four goals to pip Woodhouse Village to third place on goal difference. Village needn't worry too much though as ay least four teams will be promoted.

SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP -
Woodseats take the cup as
Chapeltown fall apart -
Woodseats Club (left) came from behind to
take the Sunday Junior Cup for the first time with a four goal second half
as fellow Division One side Chapeltown RBL found themselves reduced to
eight players. Chapeltown started strongly and took the lead with a Brad
Beatson strike, but midway through the first half Nicky Owen levelled for
Woodseats. The second half saw
Chapeltown's hopes take a hit when Carl Tuxford received a straight red
for a challenge on the Woodseats winger and after the referee turned down
a penalty appeal by Chapeltown, they were reduced to nine men for comments
by Ryan Robinson. Woodseats took full advantage and sub Jake Slater
headed them in front just seconds after coming on the pitch. Chapeltown
were then reduced to eight men when skipper Danny Cardwell received his
second yellow card for a foul and Woodseats took full advantage of the
space. Liam Bryan got their third, Dan Hoyland made it four and Bryan
netted his second to make the final score 5-1. Woodseats victory means the
League has provided the winner in three of the last four seasons and the
sixth time in all.

Redmires and Stannington both
record big wins to keep the title race red hot -
Both second place Redmires and leaders
Stannington Village recorded big wins to keep the title race between them
red hot. Both had players scoring four in Alex Torr (1st right) for
Stannington and Andy Bath (right) for Redmires, and each had a player that
scored three in Arnie Grayson for Stannington and Jon Wall for Redmires.
Elsewhere, Norton Oaks A won their twentytwo Cup Final dress rehearsal
with FC Handsworth Turf and Brinsworth Phoenix's season ended in a big
defeat at Wadsley Bridge Pheasant.
CBC Premier leaders Stannington Village didn't take long to take the lead at an understrength Woodhouse Angel, with Alex Torr setting Arnie Grayson up to volley home at the far post (the first two pictures below) and Grayson made it two before the break when he headed home from a Lee Johnstone corner. Angel were doing their best to keep the leaders at bay, but on the hour mark Cory Mann overlapped down the flank and crossed perfecctly for Torr to take one touch before finding the far corner. Torr then grabbed his second when he latched onto a through ball from Johnstone, before Ben Cook set Torr up to complete his hat-trick (the last picture below). Johnstone's third assist set Grayson up to complete his hat-trick, before Cook was brought down in the area and Torr netted his fourth of the game to leave the final score 7-0. Redmires needed to beat Brinsworth Whitehill to keep pace with Stannington, but it was Brinsworth that should have gone ahead when Cory Goodwin missed a good chance, before he then hit the bar with another effort. Redmires then showed them how to finish when they scored with their first attack through Andy Bath. This sent Brinsworth heads down and Redmires got another three in quick succession with a second from Bath and one each for Jon Wall and Danny Turner. Brinsworth lifted themselves only to see Goodwin miss a sitter, but they went further behind at the start of the second half when Bath netted his third. Brinsworth finally got some reward for their efforts when Joe McGuinness and Ainsley Finney strikes pulled two back, but it was Redmires that again showed them how to finish with three in the last five minutes from Bath's fourth and two more from Wall to complete his hat-trick.

Oaks upped their work rate after the break and after Danny Reet had lobbed
the keeper to restore their lead, Patric Winter made it 3-1 when he went
through one-on-one with the keeper.
Brinsworth Phoenix season ended with a heavy 7-1 defeat at the hands of Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. A Carl Andrews header from a corner gave Pheasant the lead and they doubled it before the break when Andrews headed down for Danny Barnsley to drive home. After Adam Askwith made it three at the start of the second half, Jack Hawkes pulled one back for Phoenix, but there was no fightback and Pheasant won it comfortably with further goals from Joe Slater, Kane Doughty and two from Lewis Fothergill.
DIVISION 1 - Penistone see off Intake to go top - Division One has it's fourth leader in as many weeks after Penistone Church beat Intake Old Boys 2-0 to go top. Chances were hard to come by, but Church went ahead midway through the first half when Scott Briggs met a corner at the mear post. Intake pushed hard for an equaliser at the start of the second half, but it left them exposed to the counter attack and after great play down the left by Tom Almond, he found Mitch Savage who in turn picked out Lewis Dickinson at the back corner of the six yard box for him to finish into the bottom corner. Intake continued to press, but the Penistone defence held firm to see them go top.
DIVISION 2 - Cobden pip Colley to stay in the title race, while Woodhouse Village win to go six points clear of fourth - Cobden View came from behind to pip Colley 2-1 to stay in the Division Two title race. Colley took a deserved first half lead through Josh Buxton, but two Tim Pitt strikes for Cobden midway through the second half put them ahead and they held on despite Colley hitting a post and having one cleared off the line. The Shakey completed their season with a narrow 2-1 victory over Woodhouse Juniors. After a goalless first half, Danny Tewson and Jordan Stancil strikes just outweighed Henry Bradshaw's goal for Woodhouse.
After the Cadbury keeper made several great saves to keep the game goalless in the first half, third place Woodhouse Village produced a blistering second half to win 5-0 and move six points clear of fourth place Civil Sports A. Good work by Tyrone Wilson led to Greg Burgin crossing for Chris Salt to head Village in front and the lead was soon doubled with a Perry Jackson penalty. A thunderous Burgin volley made it three and an own goal made it four, before Salt was brought down in the box and Burgin stepped up to score his second of the game. Civil have two games in hand on Village, but they will have to make up a deficit of eleven goals to pip Village to the third automatic promotion place.
6-APR - DIVISION 2 - Bowland treble sees Sportsman on the verge of the title - Brad Bowland netted a hat-trick as the still unbeaten Norton Sprtsman beat Woodhouse JFC 8-2 and they now need just one more win to take the title at their first attempt. Bowland gave Norton an early lead, but Woodhouse made sure the leaders didn't have it all their own way and Mark Tyler and Oliver Mann goals gave them a shock lead. Bowland's second brought parity before an own goal gave Norton a half time lead. The second half saw Norton step up a gear and as well as Bowland's third, there was goals from James Archer, Callum Frith, Andy Gibbons and a thirty yard special from Joe Muress.

favourites Penistone Church to reach their first ever Bramall Lane Final.
They will meet fellow CBC Premier side FC Handsworth Turf after a Jordan
Stocks goal in the last minutes of extra time pipped Division One
Woodseats Club.
The Twentytwo Cup took centre stage last Sunday as two CBC Premier Division and also two Division One sides battled for a place in the Final at Bramall Lane. Would it be all a CBC Premier one or even an all Division One? As it was, the CBC Premier Division teams prevailed but the two Division One sides have to be proud of their efforts. In semi-final one high flying CBC Premier side FC Handsworth Turf booked their place in the Final with a 4-3 win in extra time over promotion chasing Division One side Woodseats Club. All looked good for Adam Johnson’s men as they went into a 3-1 thanks to a double from David Sills and one from James Leesley; Nick Owen on target for the opponents. However Woodseats wouldn’t succumb quite so easy and a second goal from Owen and one from Chris Lees forced extra time. With minutes left of this additional couple of periods; Jordan Stocks pounced to send the Turf boys to the Lane and dash Woodseats’ dreams. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mark Rodgers.

Facing Turf in the showpiece event are fellow CBC Premier side Norton Oaks “A” as they overcame the second Division One team Penistone Church, 5-2. Alan Mowforth opened the scoring for Andy Dawson’s team and that was doubled when Liam Paterson got his first goal of the morning. Penistone were given a lifeline when Kenny Brakes turned the ball into his own net but Paterson’s second restored the two goal advantage at half-time. After setting up both Paterson’s goals, Danny Reet netted Norton’s fourth but Lewis Dickinson netted a hotly disputed penalty to reduce it back to 4-2. Penistone pushed but in the final minute Charlie Patterson set up Paterson for his hat-trick and seal the deal for Oaks. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mark Rodgers.

Redmires keep Knagging away in
the title chase -

target for a second successive week as Redmires beat Hallam to go within
three points of leaders Stannington Village, while City Taxis last away
game of the season saw them get their first points away from home with
victory at Wadsley Bridge Pheasant.
There were only a couple of games in the CBC Premier Division and Redmires are within three points of leaders Stannington Village after a 2-0 home win over Hallam. Both goals came in the second half courtesy of an own goal by the visitors and player-manager Dave Knaggs; who scored in consecutive weeks. Joe Taylor saved a Hallam penalty as Redmires have one game in hand and a win in deficit. It could be an interesting conclusion.
City Taxis in the other CBC Premier game, produced their best performance of the season with a fantastic 4-2 triumph at Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. Jordan Marshall’s first of the day opened the scoring after a goalkeeping blunder before a defensive mix up allowed Ricky Thompson to nod home a second, Joel Evans gave the home team hope with a good finish before a Scott Westney penalty made it 3-1 at the break. Adam Askwith reduced the arrears again for Pheasant but a second goalkeeping catastrophe saw Marshall benefit again and secure a happy three points for the visitors.
DIVISION 1 - Killamarsh go top, while Sugden treble lifts Southey - Callum Wood and Montelle Kamara doubles helped Killamarsh Juniors win a real thriller against Ranch to go top of Division One. Chapeltown RBL's preparations for next weekend's Sunday Junior Cup Final went astray as they were beaten by Southey Social with the help of a Josh Sugden hat-trick.
None of the top three were in action on Sunday and Killamarsh took advantage of it to overcame Ranch 6-4 in a thriller which catapults them to the top of the Division One table. However it didn’t start too well as Connor Brunt scored twice to give the visitors the lead. Robin Holmes reduced the margin but Alex Mosley restored the two goal gap. Callum Wood’s header and a close range finish from Innocent Huly made it parity yet Josh Naylor put Ranch 4-3 ahead with a header of his own. Montelle Kamara then headed in the eighth goal of an absorbing contest before Wood and Kamara scored their second goals from distance of the day to secure a remarkable win for Killamarsh.
Inspired by Josh Sugden’s hat-trick, Southey Social came from an initial deficit to dent Chapeltown RBL 4-2 at Concord. The visiting team took the lead thanks to a brilliant solo effort from Brad Beatson but Southey levelled when Matthew Betts weighed in a superb pass and Sugden took advantage of it to finish well. A long range screamer that arrowed into the top corner from John Mellor gave the home team the lead and that was something they wouldn’t relinquish, and was extended just before the break with Sugden’s second that found its way through the RBL custodian. RBL skipper Danny Cardwell made it 3-2 with a deflected strike but Sugden put the game to bed with a great turn to shake off his marker and then smash the ball into the roof of the net for a well taken hat-trick goal.
DIVISION 2 - Phillips double keeps Civil in the hunt, while Marshall takes charge for Colley - Civil Sports B kept up their chase for an automatic promotion place as Jed Phillips took his league tally to 29 with two goals in Civil's win at The Shakey. Norton Oaks B's chances of a top four finish ended with defeat at home to Cadbury, while Colley got a much needed away win at Woodseats Chantrey with the help of an Anthony Marshall hat-trick, and Tom Shaw also hit a hat-trick in Steelers home win over Crookes & District.
Civil Sports “B” are in a good run of form towards the top of Division Two and they continued that with a good 3-1 win at The Shakey, a result that puts Dave Firth’s men within three points of third placed Woodhouse Village and with a game in hand. Top scorer Jed Phillips scored a brace in the opening half to take him to 29 for the campaign, but despite Josh Blunkett breaching the Civil backline for Shakey’s only strike: Alex Cowlishaw secured three points for the team from Green Lane.
Former Loxley striker Anthony Marshall was the hat-trick hero for Neil Whitworth’s Colley men as they recorded a 4-2 away win at Woodseats Chantrey. A close first half deadlock was broken when Marshall scored his first of the day but a low drive from Gavin Sambrook meant the teams went in level at half time. Ten minutes after the interval, Chantrey took the lead with a superb strike from Jordan Sambrook but Colley kicked on and thanks to Marshall completing his treble and one from Ridha Miladi; the visitors took the points away.
After an evenly contested first half, Callum Shaw gave Steelers the lead at the break as they hosted Crookes and District. Crookes were forced in a number of changes for the second half, and Tom Shaw took full advantage to score a hat-trick and secure a 4-0 win for Steelers and secure their mid-table position. In the final Division Two game, Cadbury scored a late winner to secure a 2-1 at Norton Oaks “B”: a game played with great sportsmanship from both sides. A header from Mark Turton gave Norton the lead but Grant levelled at half time. Then as it looked a draw, Bottomley scored with moments left to secure three sweet points for Cadbury in probably in their own words: “best performance of the season”

Wes to run for Mitchell -
Wesley Bamford (far left) from Civil Sports Football Club recently found
out that his childhood friend, Mitchell Robinson (left) who plays for
Ecclesfield Players Lounge has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
When Wez found out about Mitchell he was absolutely devastated, he
instantly wanted to do something to help. So Wez has decided to run in the
Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon in Sheffield on Sunday 9th of April.
Mitchell, his family and friends will all be there to cheer Wez on. The
support that has been shown already has been incredible, both Wez and
Mitchell are overwhelmed by the funds that have been raised. All proceeds
will be going to the Anthony Nolan Charity, which specialises in the areas
of leukaemia and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. You can donate
