16 DEC - January Fixtures now listed - The Fixtures for January are now listed in the Fixtures section. Fixtures on 8 January could change dependent on whether or not Penistone Church and / or Woodseats Club are able to play their Sunday Junior Cup tie.

All home teams MUST make sure that their home pitch is available on all the dates shown. Please email Keith immediately if your pitch is not available on a date shown.

All home clubs must also confirm the details with your referees and opponents for all dates shown IMMEDIATELY. The home clubs should later (the Tuesday before the game) ring the referee to make sure the referee has got all the details. Please email Keith immediately if any of the referees tell you they cannot do the fixture listed.

Matches without referees must still go ahead and, if you have not been allocated a referee by the date of the game, the two clubs must agree on a stand-in 'referee' between them. Keith will still be working to gain more referees, so if you find one yourself, will you let Keith know immediately please.

11 DEC - CBC PREMIER - Flynn strike sends Stannington top after Turf held by Hallam, while Taxis get first points - They say you need a bit of luck going your way when winning a title, well Stannington Village certainly got that in their game at Norton Oaks “A”. Despite being down to ten men for two thirds of an exciting game, Village scored a winner in the third minute of time added on. A cross from Alex Torr created the winner, the ball bouncing all over the place before striking the shins of Sean Flynn (left) and rolling home for three important points. That goal was enough to send Village back to the summit of the CBC Premier Division as leaders FC Handsworth Turf had to come from behind to share the spoils with Hallam in a 2-2 draw. Turf took the lead when an initial Russell Hobson shot was parried by the Hallam goalkeeper and David Sills (right) crashed home the rebound. Yet Hallam were always in the game and a well taken effort from Eimea Gadour levelled matters. Luke Smith thought he’d given Turf the lead once more on his debut when he headed home a Pip Miskell free kick; but it was ruled out for offside. Another debutant, Hallam’s Yasin Omar, gave them the lead with a well taken effort but Turf got a point when Mike Golland crossed and Sills headed in his second of the game.

Close behind both teams are Redmires after they comprehensively beat Brinsworth Phoenix 8-1 away from home. New signing from Dale WMC George Rudd marked his debut with a hat-trick whilst two from Mikey Taylor and singles from Jon Wall, Andy Bath and Jake Gamban made up the eight. Phoenix’s only consolation was a Jack Hawkes goal when he spun away from both Redmires central defenders before producing a well taken finish with a chip from a tight angle.

Recording their first ever CBC Premier Division win though were City Taxis as they recorded a 3-1 home triumph over fourth placed Brinsworth Whitehill. The visitors should have struck first but Danny Smith headed over when well placed, yet Taxis took the lead when Whitehill goalkeeper Ben Priestley made a costly error and Jason Hopwood benefited. Tom Coker and Cory Goodwin both went close for an equaliser but another Priestley error was punished by Jordan Marshall to give Taxis a 2-0 interval lead. Elliott Coles extended it to three before Ainsley Finney reduced the arrears with twenty minutes left. Finney then hit the bar three times and both Sam Carr and Danny Willis went close, but there was no further scoring.

DIV 1 - Oughtibridge WM stay top while Woodseats pip Ecclesfield and Intake win at Killamarsh - Division One leaders Oughtibridge WM stay five points clear at the top with a well earned 4-2 away victory at Chapeltown RBL. Charlie “Chaz” Tunnard opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Justin Westoby (left) was sent tumbling in the area, and then Westoby made it two after latching onto a Callum Simms through ball. Ross Brown added the third after a superb team move before Andy Varns pulled one back for Chapeltown on the stroke of half time. A contentious second penalty, again netted by Tunnard, made it 4-1 but a fine run and finish by Brad Beatson made it a 4-2 game. RBL pushed forward but could not make further inroads into the visiting backline.

Remaining second and third respectively are Woodseats Club and Intake Old Boys. Woodseats did it the hard way though, coming from behind to defeat a plucky and still understrength Ecclesfield PL side 2-1. Joe Knight gave Ecclesfield the lead fifteen minutes into the second half (first picture), scoring from the spot after Danny Barnett had been brought down. Liam Bryon levelled with quarter of an hour to go and after Ecclesfield had gone close, Keith Cronin scored the winner with five minutes to go (second picture). Intake Old Boys went behind to a bullet header by Jack Stanley at Killamarsh Juniors but once Ross Taylor was sent off for the home side with twenty minutes to go, Shaun Higginbottom inspired the visitors and had a hand in goals for Alex Rippon (twice) and Jack Heald. AFC George improved their hopes of avoiding the drop with a good 3-2 away win at Southey Social. Damien Brown scored twice and Michael Blythen once as the visitors recorded their second league win of the season, Josh Sugden and Lewis Twibell on target for Southey.

However Dale WMC remain marooned at the bottom as they crashed 5-1 at Ranch. Ryan Lamkin headed the hosts into the lead but Stefan Rankine equalised as the teams entered half time level. Three goals in eight minutes early in the second half put the game to bed and secured Ranch the points, Ash Betts scoring once and Matt Jacobs twice as the visitors collapsed. A long punt forward held up in the wind and whilst Dale defenders dithered, Liam Price poked home the fifth.

DIV 2 - Cobden go clear at the top, but Civil and Colley both drop points - Division Two leaders Cobden View went five points clear after bouncing back to record a 2-1 away at fourth placed Norton Oaks “B”. Nasa Meah gave Norton the lead but two goals from skipper Joe Taylor recorded the win for the table toppers. Taylor scored his first from a free kick with twenty minutes then popped up to hold his nerve from the penalty spot in the final minute to secure the win for the visitors and end Norton’s unbeaten home record.

A cracking game was played at Green Lane as Civil Sports “B” slipped up to a surprise 2-1 home loss to Steelers, maintaining the visiting side’s good record against their hosts. Leighton Buck gave Steelers the lead with twenty-two minutes to go only for George Ancell to level matters. Steelers were indebted to their goalkeeper throughout as he made several superb saves, and then got a winner with just a couple of minutes to go thanks to Callum Shaw.

Another good game saw Colley and Crookes and District share the spoils and six goals as it ended 3-3. Callum Cadman gave the home side the lead but Libert Say scored twice to give Crookes a half time advantage. Two quick and early second half goals from Josh Connor and Faisal Miladi (right) restored the lead only for Issac to bring Crookes level again late on and the visitors then hit the post with the final kick of the game.

Woodhouse Juniors and Woodseats Chantrey also shared a 3-3 game, Woodhouse scoring through Matt Megson (twice) and Tom Bland whilst Russ Cawthorne (two, one a penalty) and Gavin Sambrook – his first goal in a long time – got Chantrey a point. Also sharing a point were Cadbury and The Shakey as they drew 2-2, Conway and Holmes on target for the sweet men whilst Hilbert and Fulleylove netted for the away team.

9 DEC - Turf raise £280 on their "Pay your subs to John" day  - CBC Premier leaders FC Handsworth Turf is well known for its charitable efforts and they have again put their money where their mouth is by holding a "Pay your subs to John" day on 20 November. All their subs collected on the day and any other monies they got from supporters, sponsors, friends, other grassroots players will be donated to Sheffield Legend John Burkhill (right) in his quest to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan. John lives in Richmond Park, Handsworth and we would like to show him our support for what he does. The full total raised was £280 for John Burkhill with other contributions from Wadsley Bridge Pheasant, Middlewood Rovers under 8s and Handsworth Boys under 11s and 3D Joinery. Turf and Joihn thank everyone for helping us raise this amount. 4 DEC - LEAGUE TWENTYTWO CUP - Division One rules as Holders and Angel go out, but Oaks go through, while Redmires are Turfed out - It was the quarter final stage of the TwentyTwo Cup on Sunday with places in the last four on offer. One of those sides that won’t be in there will be holders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant after they were eliminated by the odd goal in seven by Division One high flyers Woodseats Club. Things started well for the visitors as they raced into a 2-0 lead with Russ Westby and Jordan Beech goals before Luke Beedham’s free-kick reduced the arrears only for  Nick Owen to restore Woodseats two goal margin from the spot. Needing to get back into the tie, Pheasant pushed forward and hit the woodwork twice before Lewis Fothergill and Joe Slater levelled up matters. Chances came and went until the visitors were awarded a second penalty of the morning in the final minute and although his initial effort was saved Nick Owen (left) put away the rebound for his second goal of the game.

Another CBC Premier Division side sent tumbling out of the cup were Woodhouse Angel as they were beaten 4-1 at Penistone Church of Division One. Gareth Simons scored the only goal for Angel but Church were more profilic in front of goal. Strikes from Lewis Dickenson (with a brace) and single tallies from Sam Scrivens and Danny Howes put the home side and some people’s thoughts of potential Cup winners, through.

In the battle of the CBC Premier heavyweights, it was FC Handsworth Turf who emerged on top after a penalty shoot out that went into sudden death. Missing Jon Wall Redmires lacked their usual creativity and Tom Crosby almost gave Turf a first half lead with a superb effort from distance only to see it ricochet off the crossbar. Ben Shackshaft had a goal disallowed for offside but the game went into the extra time period. Turf took the lead when Joe France’s corner was headed home by debutant Joe Barrett only for Conal Jacklin to level for Redmires. After no further goals, the tie went to penalties and after five apiece, it was 3-3. Sam Atkin saved Redmires sixth kick with a superb save to his right before France stepped up to net the winner in a game well refereed by Lee Freeman. Completing the final four in the TwentyTwo Cup, the semi-finals to be played in March at HSBC, are Norton Oaks “A” as they overcame Division One Killamarsh Juniors 4-2. Liam Edge gave Killamarsh the lead only for a sweet left foot strike from Rich Conway to level matters. Callum Wood’s free header from a corner restored the visitors advantage before Jamie Marshall scored a superb equaliser; taking a chipped pass onto his chest before rifling an unstoppable effort into the corner with his right foot. Oaks took the lead in the second half when a corner saw a Killamarsh defender bundle the ball into his own net before Marshall sealed the path through when he hooked a lob over his head into the roof of the goal despite having his back to it. CBC PREMIER - Brinsworth double - There were only two games in the CBC Premier Division and there were wins for both Brinsworth sides at home. Ever improving Brinsworth Whitehill are up to fourth with a 4-1 win against a plucky Hallam side. Adam Daughtrey opened the scoring for Lewis Carder’s team when he took advantage from some good work by debutant Sam Helliwell. Adam Pursehouse and Ross Johnson both missed chances to extend the lead before Eimea Gadour made it 1-1 after a swift break from the visitors. The lead was restored when Daughtrey set up Pursehouse who slotted home. Whitehill continued to press after the interval and were rewarded by two goals from Liam Favell, his first a superb shot. Cory Goodwin had two efforts cleared off the line as Brinsworth looked for more whilst Hallam also had chances of their own but 4-1 it ended.

Also winning were neighbours Brinsworth Phoenix after a 4-2 home win against Civil Sports “A”. Civil took the lead on the quarter hour thanks to Bleu Kelly but an unstoppable header from Nathan Darwent levelled matters up. A superb effort from Kieran Goff made it 2-1 to the home side and then the game started to open up after the restart. Phoenix missed a penalty before some unselfish play by John Mellor set up Jack Hawkes only for Harley Wilson to crash home an effort from around thirty-five yards to reduce the arrears. The home team sealed the points though when Matt Winfrow’s shot hit the post but Peter Gilson was on hand to slot home the rebound.

DIV 1 - Oughtibridge WM extend their lead at the top, while Southey pull clear of danger - Doubles by Danny Clinton and Charlie Tunnard (right) helped Oughtibridge WM extend their lead at the top of Division One to five points with victory over Ecclesfield Players Lounge, while Whitney and Theaker doubles helped Southey Social to victory over Dale WMC and further clear of the relegation zone. Chapeltown RBL's promotion bid took a blow when they were held by AFC George.

Division One leaders Oughtibridge WM extended their lead to five points with a 5-0 win against an understrength Ecclesfield PL. Callum Chambers opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being brought down in the area; an decision that saw Ecclesfield’s custodian sent off. Danny Clinton took advantage of a rebound to double the lead but then missed a penalty of his own after Justin Westoby was sent tumbling. Chaz Tunnard it 3-0 with Oughtibridge’s third spot-kick of the morning, after a foul on Clinton, before adding a fourth home goal. Clinton then finished the nap hand with his second of the game.

Southey Social continued their improvement with a 6-2 home win over Dale WMC - a result that keeps the visitors at the bottom of the table. Dale started the better and took the lead with a cool finish from George Rudd. Inspired by young Ryan Whitney, Southey took over and this result leaves them just three points placed Intake Old Boys. Man of the Match Whitney scored twice, Corey Theaker helped himself to a brace as well and Southey’s other goals came from Jack Dickinson and Todd Guest with Jake Schofield’s penalty being the only other goal for the visitors.

The spoils were shared in the final Division One game of the day when AFC George and Chapeltown RBL drew 1-1. It was a game that the visitors controlled from start to finish, but were hit by a sucker punch when Michael Blythen opened the scoring for George despite claims for offside. RBL started to think it was going to be one of those days until skipper Danny Cardwell delivered a superb cross that evaded everyone but Ryan Robinson and he smashed home an unstoppable volley which left the George goalkeeper helpless.

DIV 2 - Top Three all win, while Shakey climbs off the bottom - Division Two leaders Cobden View are still on top of the table with a 5-1 home win over basement club Woodseats Chantrey. Cobden have now scored fifty-five goals in ten games, and grabbed five different scorers against Chantrey. The men on target being Adam Beresford, Ben Bell (left), Tim Pitt, Joe Taylor and Aaron Ellis. Steve Morris’ delightful chip was the only bright spot for Chantrey as they tumbled to their eighth league loss of the season.

Close behind are both Norton Sportsman and Woodhouse Village as they both recorded 3-0 wins. Norton overcame fourth placed Norton Oaks “B” thanks to goals from Sonny Wilson, Brad Bowland and Jack Waymouth. Also keeping in touch are third placed Woodhouse Village as they overcame a well drilled Crookes and District by the same 3-0 scoreline. Theo Wilson scored a brace for Village whose other goal came from Oliver Barrett.

Two points behind fourth place are Civil Sports “B” after they overcame Woodhouse Juniors 6-0 at Green Lane. Dave Firth’s men were four goals ahead at the interval thanks to a brace from the league’s top scorer Jed Phillips and single tallies from Joe Taylor and Taurean Fogarty. Two goals in the second half from Mitch Seymour secured the win in a good morning’s performance. Whilst finally, strikes from Andrew Redfearn and Will Hilbert gave The Shakey the points against a Cadbury side who bemoaned their wasteful finishing.
