31-May - Spartans & Mansfield Town come out on top at Goals - Sheffield's Special Olympics team the Spartans held a mini tournament at Goals in Sheffield in May and their efforts were rewarded as they were one of two winners. The teams involved included Spartans, Mansfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster Titans, with the two group winners, Spartans and Mansfield Town, each receiving trophies from Oliver Hurd, the manager of Goals Centre.

30-May - A reminder to all Blades Super Draw clubs - All the Blades Super Draw League clubs are reminded that they should have their League Affiliation forms completed and returned to the League by 31 May.

15-May - Owen is top of the hit parade - Division Two Devonshire's Nicky Owen (left) tally of forty six league goals has seen him take the twentytwo Leading Scorer Award. AFC George's Michael Blythen push him all the way but in the end he finished seven goals behind him on thirty nine. Woodhouse Angel's Mitch Husbands (first right) twenty three goals saw him take the CBC Premier Leading Scorer Award, while Hallam FC's Joe Howsham (far right) took the Division One Award with twenty four goals.

15-May - DIVISION 2 - Blythen takes his total to 39 as George beat Steelers to finish fourth  - Michael Blythen scored twice to take his season's tally to thirty nine as AFC George beat Steelers 3-2 to finish in fourth place in Division Two. Luke Kingswood netted George's other, but they were made to work hard by the visitors as two Jordan Meadows strikes kept them in the game.

8-May - CBC PREMIER - Askwith double helps Pheasant do the double, while a Torr treble sees Stannington finish second - An Adam Askwith double paved the way for Wadsley Bridge Pheasant to win 3-0 at FC Handsworth Turf to clinch their first CBC Premier title and complete the League and Cup double. Luke Beedham should have settled Pheasant's nerves in the fifth minute, but missed when it looked easier to score. The Turf defence was making life difficult for the Pheasant attack until a mistake allowed Askwith to go clear and hammer the ball past the keeper into the roof of the net to give Pheasant a half time lead. After the break, Turf had their best spell of the game, but as Pheasant regained control they were twice thwarted by the woodwork. It was third time lucky when the Turf keeper pushed a shot onto the woodwork a third time, with the rebound falling for Askwith to rifle the ball into the empty net for his second (first picture below). Pheasant confirmed their title and double win when Lewis Fothergill's twenty five yard shot beat the unsighted keeper and the celebrations began with skipper Andy Dawson (left) receiving the CBC Premier trophy. That result meant that Stannington Village couldn't hold on to the title, but they have finished as Runners-up after a 4-0 victory over third place Woodhouse Angel. Midway through the first half Alex Torr was sent down the left and after skipping inside past a defender he confidently beat the keeper to open the scoring. The lead was doubled just two minutes later when Danny Smith got to the by-line and crossed for Shaun Murphy to score. Stannington had to wait until the second half for a third, with Torr cutting inside before smashing the ball into the top corner. The scoring was completed ten minutes later when Flynn broke down the left and crossed for Torr to rise at the back post and complete his hat-trick.

DIVISION 2 - Dickinson double sees Penistone pip Devonshire to the title despite another four for Owen - Lewis Dickinson struck twice as Penistone Church took theDivision Two title with a 3-0 victory at AFC George. Tim Council netted Church's other to make it thirty for the season as Penistone made it a terrific twenty one wins out of twenty two. Devonshire did their best to push them all the way, with Nicky Owen taking his season's tally to 46 with four goals in their 7-3 victory over Civil Service B, but Penistone's win meant that Devonshire had to settle for the Runners-up spot. Owen's first three along with one for Sam Read and two from Keith Cronin saw Devonshire take a six goal half time lead, but Civil sprung to life after the break and goals from Tom French, Mitch Seymour and Tom Burns made Devonshire sit up. That was as close as it got though and Owen grabbed his fourth to complete the scoring. Pictured right is Devonshire with their trophy and medals.

5-May - CBC PREMIER - Jack's the lad to keep Stannington in the title race - A single Jack Ridge (left) goal gave Stannington Village victory over an injury hit TheVine to keep Stannington in the CBC Premier title race. The Vine, without regular keeper Andrew Taylor after he suffered three cracked ribs in last week's Kitlocker Cup Final, had Dan Simpson in goal and he was by far the busier of the keepers in the first half. He should have been beaten when Alex Torr crossed for Adam Todd, but he failed to hit the target from six yards out. Torr was then denied twice by good saves by Simpson and when Brent Heeley played The Vine's leading scorer Rikki Davidson in only a terrific save by the Stannington keeper stopped Davidson from giving his side the lead.

Stannington continued to dominate after the break, but with Christian Nixon solid as a rock at the back for The Vine their defence held firm until Stannington finally got their goal on the hour mark when Ben Cook's clearance was flicked round the corner and the on-rushing Ridge beat the offside trap to take it round Simpson and turn the ball home. With The Vine knowing that victory for them could see them take the Runners-up spot, they finally began to press Stannington backwards and but for a fingertip save by the keeper makeshift striker Will Blakeney would have levelled the scores. Stannington held on though and now go into this weekend's games knowing that if they avoid defeat against Woodhouse Angel they will take the Runners-up spot, while victory could see them still land the title if Wadsley Bridge Pheasant fail to win at FC Handsworth Turf and Stannington win their final game of the season against Oughtibridge WM next week.

DIVISION 2 - Penistone go back on top - Hat-tricks by George Orrell and Lewis Dickinson helped Penistone Church to a 10-1 victory over Steelers and back to the top of Division Two. Penistone's others came from a Mitch Savage double and one each for Tom Adams and Tim Council, while Steelers consolation came from Blake Owen's eleventh of the season. Penistone now need to win their final game of the season at AFC George this weekend to secure the title, but any other result would see Devonshire take the title in they beat Civil Service B, also this weekend.

3-May - CBC PREMIER - Last gasp saver keeps Pheasant on course for title, as Redmires tribute to Yianni keeps them safe - Before their game at CBC Premier leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant, Redmires had been rocked by the sudden death of their popular midfielder Yianni Hadji Giorgiou, but they started the game like a house on fire and took a deserved lead when Matt Garnett found Chris Cottyn who slotted home. It soon got better for Redmires when skipper Ben Graney finished yet another flowing move to give his side a two goal half time lead.

After the break Pheasant stirred themselves and began to produce wave after wave of attacks and one led to a scramble in the box that Adam Askwith (right) finally managed to tuck away. Pheasant then hit the woodwork before a handball in the area saw them awarded a penalty and Dylan Parrott stepped up to confidently send the keeper the wrong way to bring Pheasant level. Pheasant continued to push for a winner, but as the game went into injury time Redmires caught them with a swift break and they went back in front with Matt Marsden's first goal for the club. A loss would have been a massive blow to Pheasant's title chances, but with virtually the final kick of the game Askwith scored his second of the game to claim a 3-3 draw.

Pheasant now just need to win their final game of the season at FC Handsworth Turf to complete a League and Kitlocker Cup double. The only club that can deny them is reigning champions Stannington Village, but they must win their final three games and rely on Turf avoiding defeat by Pheasant. For Redmires, they dedicated the performance to Yianni that gave them the point that means, barring a mathematical miracle, they are certain to stay clear of the bottom three.

1-May - DIVISION 1 - Hounds survive leaving Ranch to hope - Hare & Hounds made sure of their Division One survival with victory at Aston Swallownest helped by two goals from Stef Rankine The tension was taken out of the game as Hounds took a two goal lead inside the first fifteen minutes. George Rudd converted a cross with a well directed back post header on seven minutes before feeding Stef Rankine for the second. A rout looked on as Sean Maloney clipped a neat third to the keepers right before "Three lungs" Liam Hogg crashed a fourth from twenty five yards. Shann Marsland lobbed Hounds fifth immediately after the restart, coolly lobbing the keeper from twelve yards, before Aston's mini-revival. Within a minute a fine Billy Evans shot beat keeper Mas Rankine to his left and Evans hit his second with the help of a deflection off the unlucky Mike Hibbert. Hounds jitters were ended seven minutes before the end as Stef Rankine forced his way into the left of the box and confidently powered the ball beyond the Aston keeper. The result left Ranch third from bottom and they will now have to hope that only two clubs will go down.

DIVISION 2 - Devonshire end Penistone's unbeaten record to keep the title race open, while Cobden and George both win away - A Chris Lees strike and Nicky Owen's (right) 42nd of the season saw Devonshire end Penistone Church's unbeaten record and maintain their own perfect away record to keep the Division Two title race open. Both goals came in the first half and despite Penistone having plenty of possession in the second half they couldn't break down the Devonshire defence. Penistone now need to win both their final two games to be certain of lifting the title, while Devonshire, now back on top, have to win their final game and hope that Penistone slip up. Cobden View ended their splendid season with a 3-0 victory at Woodhouse Juniors. After a goalless first half, Cobden took control after the break and won it with Will Cutler, Richard Higgins and James Cottingham strikes. Cobden finished their season just outside the automatic promotion places in fourth, but AFC George could go above them after Shaun Waller and Michael Blythen doubles gave them a 4-2 victory at Crookes & District. George can't make the three automatic promotion places, but will finish fourth if they get at least point from their final two games.

28 Apr - Good Evans ignores the pain to win the Kitlocker Cup - On a night of atrocious weather, a fantastic crowd of 600 turned out to see the Blades Super Draw League Kitlocker Cup Final at Bramall Lane and they saw Wadsley Bridge Pheasant triumph over The Vine in a dramatic penalty shoot-out after the game had ended goalless. The winning penalty was struck by Joel Evans (pictured below) and it was only after the game that he discovered he had broken his ankle during the first half and finished up in A&E! Despite the lack of goals it had been a quality game before Pheasant took the trophy for the first time.

Although The Vine start much the better of the two sides, the defences were on top and chances were hard to come by. Pheasant had a couple of set pieces but Christian Nixon and Karl Ainsworth at the heart of The Vine defence made sure they came to nothing. The best chance fell to The Vine when Liam Allott crossed for Brent Heeley, but his first shot was blocked and although his follow up beat Pheasant keeper Shannon Melia, it landed on the roof of the net. The next chance came Rikki Davidson's way, but The Vine's leading scorer's acrobatic effort was well saved by Melia.

The second half saw Pheasant come into the game more. With Man of the Match Adam Askwith (left) leading their line well, Pheasant began to force some set pieces and from two of them Kane Doughty flashed two headers just wide. Nixon got in one terrific bock to stop Pheasnt from going in front and when Pheasant thought they had broken the deadlock when Dylan Parrott crossed for Askwith to head home, the stiker had just strayed offside and it was ruled out. With the end of the game looming Jamie Smith started a move for The Vine and when Mike Golland crossed to the back post Smith looked certain to score until full back Josh Statham marked his outstanding game with a touch that just took the ball away from Smith. In the final minute Askwith was put through but just as his shot looked likely to win it for Pheasant Jon Riley somehow got a terrific bock to the ball and the ball was cleared.

That meant the game was to be decided by a penalty shoot-out and after The Vine's Rikki Davidson put the first penalty high over the bar his team mates all scored the next three, but Luke Beedham, Askwith and Parrott all scored for Pheasant to match them. The Pheasant lost their advantage when Lewis Fothergill hit a post, but when Lou Jackson then stepped up for The Vine's fifth he put his shot over the bar, leaving Evans to step up and beat both the pain barrier and Andrew Taylor in The Vine goal to win it for Pheasant, allowing skipper Andy Dawson to step up and receive the trophy from Sheffield United's Super Draw manager Mick Rooker.

The squads: Wadsley Bridge Pheasant: Shannon Melia, Scott Bingley, Carl Andrews, Jonathan Wragg, Kane Doughty, Shane Andrews, Andrew Dawson, Adam Askwith, Dylan Parrott, Craig Mawhood, Sam Barker, Daniel Barnsley, Reece James, Joel Evans, Luke Beedham, Lewis Fothergill, Dean Williamson, Josh Statham, Darren Antcliffe

CBC PREMIER - Civil & Oughtibridge have to try again - Civil Service A's home game with Oughtibridge WM was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

DIVISION 2 - Woodhouse run into the Wall - Shaun Waller scored all AFC George's goals in their 4-3 victory over Woodhouse Juniors. After Waller's first two, Lee Williams pulled one back for Woodouse, but George were 3-1 up at the interval after Waller completed his hat-trick. Waller grabbed his fourth after the break, but Woodhouse gave them a real scare after pulling two back through Salim Hussain and Ferdi Celik.

24-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant thrash The Vine in Final rehearsal, while Norton Oaks make themselves save - The CBC Premier leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant put their midweek 1-0 defeat at Civil Service A behind them by inflicting a 6-1 thrashing on a The Vine that they will meet in the Kitlocker Cup Final at Bramall Lane in four days time. Pheasant got the scoring underway when an Andy Dawson long throw created havoc in The Vine goalmouth and Josh Statham took advantage to find the net. The lead was doubled by Kane Doughty from a corner, before Statham smashed home his second and Adam Askwith made it four before half time to put Pheasant in total command. The fifth came after the break when Lewis Fothergill pressured the keeper into an error that Fothergill took advantage of to score and although Matt Ellis pulled one back with a header from a Steve Wilkinson corner, it was Pheasant that had the final say with a Craig Mawhood (right) strike. The result means that barring a mathematical miracle both The Vine and Woodhouse Angel are now out of the title race, with only current Champions Stannington Village able to stop Pheasant taking the title, but even that won't be possible if Pheasant take four points from their final two games.

Norton Oaks A secured their place in the CBC Premier for next season with victory a 3-2 victory at Redmires. Oaks knew they would be safe if they won and set off like an express train, with Coel Fulton, Jamie Marshall and Liam Paterson strikes giving them a three goal lead inside thirty minutes. Redmires knew a point would see them safe and pulled one back just before half time when a Danny Turner back-heel set up Yianni Hadgi Giorgiou to score. They pressed in the second half without creating any clear scoring chances until ten minutes from time when Turner headed home from a Jon Wall corner. That left Oaks hanging on, but they defended for their lives and got the win they needed. Civil Service A must now beat Oughtibridge WM in their final game to have any chance of staying up and if Civil do win it will mean that Redmires will have to take at least a point from their final game of the season against Wadsley Bridge Pheasant next Sunday to avoid the drop at Civil's expense. DIVISION 1 - Hounds keep their survival hopes alive, while Whitworth double helps Colley shock Chapeltown - Hare & Hounds kept their Division One survival hopes alive as two Sean Maloney goals saw them come from behind to win 3-1 at Loxley. A Tim Pitt volley gave Loxley their half time lead and it might have been more had Tom Storey taken one of his three chances and had Anthony Marshall's shot not brought a good save out of the Hounds keeper. Piers Bond's close range header also brought a good save out of the Hounds keeper at the start of the second half, but the game started to swing Hounds way and after Maloney had hit a post, he then played a through ball for George Rudd to equalise. Hounds were then awarded a penalty when Rudd was brought down that was confidently put away by Maloney, before Rudd turned provider for Maloney's second to make sure Hounds survival bid stayed on track. Hounds now need to win their final game of the season at Aston Swallownest next Sunday to survive and send Ranch down instead.

After falling behind to an own goal, second place Hallam it back to complete their season with a 4-1 victory at Aston Swallownest. Hothrytha Gadour equalised for Hallam before half time and they took the lead after the break through Jonathan Sheldon. Sheldon was then brought down in the area and Joe Howsham scored from the spot for Hallam's third before Sheldon completed the scoring with his second of the game.

The already relegated Colley Tavern at least completed their season with a flourish a Neil Whitworth (right) double helped them get their first away win of the season, 3-1 at Chapeltown RBL. A Danny Cardwell free kick floated into the top corner to give Chapeltown the early lead, but Colley soon rallied and Whitworth placed his shot into the bottom corner of the net with from the edge of the penalty area. It quickly got even better for Colley when Ridha Miladi's cross allowed Whitworth to plant a header across the keeper to give them the lead and just before half time Chris Fowler netted his eighth of the season to double Colley's lead. The second half saw Chapeltown pull one back when Cardwell crossed for Gav Thorpe and he scored the rebound after his first shot had been blocked, but for once Colley held on to get a deserved win.

DIVISION 2 - Killamarsh are up, while Penistone and Devonshire continue their race for the title - Joe Glover and Chris Savage doubles helped Killamarsh Juniors (pictured left with the 3rd place shield) to an 8-1 victory over Woodhouse Juniors to clinch the third automatic promotion place in Division Two. Glover's goals made it eight in his last three games, while Killamarsh's others came from Ross Taylor, Spencer Hunt, Ryan Hall and Ryan Hancock. Above them, both leaders Penistone Church and second place Devonshire had wins over Norton Oaks B and Crookes & District respectively to continue their battle for the title. Tim Council with two and George Orrell, Joe Wadsworth and Oliver Robinson strikes gave Penistone a 5-0 win at Norton Oaks B to continue their all-win record.

Devonshire beat bottom club Crookes & District 3-0. Nicky Owen and Sam Read took their combined total to sixty seven with a goal each, while their third came from Lewis Whitaker, but it was a very spirited effort by the bottom club against a club that had already scored more than one hundred goals this season. The day's other game saw AFC George win 3-2 at Civil Service B. Civil also gave a very good account of themselves and led with a Tom French goal at half time. They scored a second through Tom Burns in the second half, but a Shaun Waller goal and two from Luke Kingswood saw George go home with the points.

21-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Civil shock Pheasant, while The Vine keep up the pressure - Civil Service A gave their survival hopes a real boost with a shock 1-0 victory over the leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. The winning goal came after just fifteen minutes when Harley Wilson smashed home a free kick and after that it was backs to the wall for Civil as the CBC Premier leaders threw everything at them. Keeper Josh Branch pulled off a string of great saves, but saved the best til the end when he somehow tipped a seemingly goalbound shot over the bar. The result now means that Civil could now avoid the drop if they take at least a point from their final game of the season against Oughtibridge WM on 28 April, but that still might not be enough as both Norton Oaks A and Redmires could still collect enough points to stay above them.

The Vine gained revenge for the 5-1 drubbing they received from Woodhouse Angel at the weekend by beating them 2-0, leaving Pheasant, Angel and The Vine all on 38 points and Stannington just three points behind. The Vine were first to show and when Joe France's cross was only half cleared to the edge of the box Liam Volley (left) hit a first time volley into the roof of the net. After that Angel did their best to get back on level terms, but a combination of missed chances and strong defending led by Jamie Smith, The Vine kept them out and clinched victory when Allott turned provider for Karl Ainsworth to score their second.

DIVISION 2 - Penistone go back on top, while another Glover treble puts Killamarsh on the verge of promotion - Penistone Church returned to the top of Division Two as Mitch Savage (right) and Lewis Dickenson goals gave them a 2-0 victory at a Steelers that provided one of their best displays of the season. Killamarsh Juniors are now just one win away from claiming the third automatic promotion place after Joe Glover hit his second hat-trick in as many games to help them to a 6-0 victory over Crookes & District. All of Glover's goals were headers, while Ryan Hancock netted his first of the season, as did Jack Marples from the penalty spot after Christian Savage had been brought down. The final goal came from super sub Dale Lax.

17-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant stay top as The Vine get in a tangle at Angel, while Stannington keep up the pressure - Wadsley Bridge Pheasant had a narrow 2-1 win at a Redmires to stay on top of the CBC Premier. Redmires who still need points to secure their place in the CBC Premier next season started strongly and almost went in front when Jon Wall hit a post, but a mistake at the back by Danny Turner allowed Adam Askwith to square the ball for Luke Beedham to give Pheasant a half time lead. The second half saw Askwith and Dylan Parrott both miss good chances, but the pressure finally told and a Parrott corner was met by a powerful header from Kane Doughty to double the lead. Redmires didn't give up though and after Turner had hit the woodwork he made up for his earlier mistake by pulling one back for Redmires and although Wall had a shot blocked late on they couldn't force another.

Second place Woodhouse Angel entertained fellow title chasers The Vine and it was the visitors that went in front with a Rikki Davidson strike, but after that it was Angel that dominated the game. Mike Towey (1st left) took on the entire Vine defence before beating the keeper to draw the scores level and he then put Angel in front with a bullet header from a Josh Barringham cross. Towey then produced another penetrating run before squaring the ball for Mitch Husbands (2nd left) to make it 3-1 at the break. Angel continued on top in the second half and after several chances had been missed, Husbands found the bottom corner with a left foot strike and Barringham made the final score 5-1 after exchanging passes with Towey.

Stannington Village maintained their challenge as Alex Torr scored twice in a 5-1 victory over FC Handsworth Turf. After Robert Pratt's free kick had almost given Turf the lead, Danny Smith gave Stannington the lead with a free kick that beat the keeper at his near post and Adam Todd made it two when he took a pass in the box and lifted it over the advancing keeper. Just before half time, a cross to the back post was pulled back by Todd and Bill Green headed into the roof of the net to make it three. Conal Gallagher scored his first goal for Turf when he tucked away the rebound after Tom Smith's shot had hit the bar, but two Alex Torr strikes made sure that Stannington remained in charge.

DIVISION 1 - Chapeltown look safe - Chapeltown RBL came from behind three times to draw 4-4 with Loxley and take the point that as good as guarantee Chapeltown's place in Division One next season. A Tim Pitt penalty gave Loxley a 1-0 half time lead, but straight after the break Joe Moorhouse produced a cool finish to draw Chapeltown level. Loxley looked to then have the game won when Lewis Armstrong found the net through a crowded penalty area and Steve Mayfield added their third, but Chapeltown didn't give up and Sam Walch latched onto Danny Cardwell's through ball to pull one back. Gavin Thorpe then lifted the ball over the keeper to bring them level a second time, but it looked as if it would be in vain when Neil Boote turned Tom Storey's cross into his own net to put Loxley in front a third time. Boote redeemed himself though by finding the bottom corner to give Chapeltown that precious point.

Bottom club Colley Tavern earned a deserved point with a 1-1 draw with Intake Old Boys. Colley took the lead with a goal of the season contender from full back Craig Begbie, but it was cancelled out when Neil Whitworth gave away a penalty and Russell Hobson scored from the spot. Intake might have won it late on when they hit the post, but Chris Fowler might have won it for Colley only to be denied by the keeper.

DIVISION 2 - Killamarsh take charge of third place as Devonshire dent George's hopes - Joe Glover and Chris Savage hat-tricks helped Killamarsh to a 9-1 victory over Civil Service B and they now only need to win their last two to be sure of taking Division Two's third automatic promotion place. Ross Taylor, Ryan Hall and super sub Dale Lax netted Killamarsh's others while Civil's leading scorer Joe Taylor netted his tenth of the season for their consolation. Cobden View did their best to keep the pressure on Killamarsh by beating Woodhouse Juniors 3-2, but because their goal difference is so much lower than Killamarsh's it is unrealistic that they could now overtake them. Cobden took a three goal lead with two from Richard Higgins and one from Cav Rowland and they probably should have had more, so they were left sweating when Salim Hussain netted twice for Woodhouse.

AFC George needed to win all their games to overtake Killamarsh, but they were taken apart by Devonshire's front two Nicky Owen and Sam Read and leaders Devonshire ran out 6-0 winners. Owen hit four of them to take his league tally to forty while Read grabbed the other two to take his tally to twenty five. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

Penistone Church kept up their chase for the title by maintaining their all-win record as Gareth Brown hit a perfect hat-trick in an 11-0 win against Top Club. Church's others came from Tim Council and Brad Kemp doubles and one each for Mitch Savage, Callum Lee, Tom Eaton and Lewis Dickenson.

17-Apr - Owen goes top of the hit parade - Division Two Devonshire's Nicky Owen's (right) seven goal blast against Top Club and four today against AFC George took him to the top of the twentytwo Leading Scorer chart with a total of 40 league goals, five ahead of previous leader Michael Blythen of AFC George. Hallam FC's Joe Howsham leads the way in Division One with 23 goals, while Woodhouse Angel's Mitch Husbands is the CBC Premier's top marksman, also with 23.

14-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Oughtibridge go down as Pheasant go back on top, but The Vine also win to stay level on points - Oughtibridge WM are relegated after their defeat by a Wadsley Bridge Pheasant that went back to the top on goal difference over both Woodhouse Angel and The Vine after they beat Norton Oaks A. Oughtibridge's hopes were raised when a Dan Robinson header was parried and Charlie Tunnard pounced to give them the lead. Tunnard then fired over when well placed and instead it was Pheasant that equalised on the stroke of half time when Adam Askwith beat the offside trap. The second half saw Adi Tomlin twice go close with headers for Oughtibridge and Tom Fletcher missed a good chance, but Pheasant started to get on top and when a corner dropped to John Wragg he smashed it home to give them the lead. Oughtibridge pushed hard for an equaliser, but they inevitably left gaps at the back and Danny Barnsley took advantage to score a third for Pheasant from the edge of the area.

The Vine almost went in front against Norton Oaks A when Rikki Davidson hit a post, but The Vine did go ahead when soon afterwards Joe France crossed for Christian Nixon to power home a header. The doubled their advantage just before half time when Matt Ellis put Liam Allott through to score. Coel Fulton pulled one back for Norton in the second half but Daniel Simpson and Danny Seaman combined for Matt Ellis to quickly restore The Vine's two goal lead. Jamie Smith then conceded a penalty that Alan Mowforth scored to bring Norton back into the game, but Smith redeemed himself five minutes later by scoring his first goal for the Vine to clinch the 4-2 victory.

DIVISION 1 - Chapeltown miss the chance to go save - On the night City Taxis promotion was confirmed, Chapeltown RBL missed the chance to confirm their Division One place for next season as they were held by already relegated Aston Swallownest. After a goalless first half, Billy Evans deflected a Sam Thorpe cross home to give Aston the lead and Ross Edwards drilled home to double it. Chapeltown rallied and scored twice in ten minutes through Thorpe and Cardwell but they couldn't get the third goal that would have seen them safe.

DIVISION 2 - Owen hits a magnificent seven for Devonshire, while Penistone clinch promotion with victory at Civil - Nicky Owen hit a magnificent seven goals as Devonshire stayed top of Division Two with a 13-0 victory over Top Club. Sam Read helped himself to three, while Devonshire's others came from McWilliam, Chris Lees, and Matt White. Second place Penistone Church clinched promotion by keeping their all-win record with a 5-1 victory at Civil Service B. Tim Council grabbed two and Gareth Brown, Lewis Dickenson and Joe Wadsworth the others, while Joe Taylor replied for Civil. The night's other game saw Salem Hussain give Woodhouse Juniors the lead against Norton Oaks B, but a Hazam El Yougo header gave Norton a share of the points.

10-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Pheasant and Angel stalemate, but Stannington and The Vine both win to keep the title race open - CBC Premier title favourites Wadsley Bridge Pheasant went to leaders Woodhouse Angel and although Angel had the better of the first half, the Pheasant defence limited them to just a few half chances. The second half saw Pheasant on the front foot, but they were also unable to break down a resolute defence and Angel began to get back on top, with Sam Comer hitting the Pheasant bar from forty yards. It was therefore a surprise when Pheasant took the lead with Joel Evans nodding home at the back post from a corner. Angel re-grouped and after a sustained spell of pressure Mike Towey played in Johno Williams and after a great first touch he took two more touches past the Pheasant defenders before hitting a left foot shot into the roof of the net. Angel then looked the more likely to win it, but in the final minute it was Pheasant that should have taken the points when Shane Andrews managed the miss of the season and the game ended in a 1-1 draw that means the title is Pheasant's to lose. Action from toady's game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

In a scrappy first half The Vine struggled to impose themselves on an Oughtibridge WM fighting for survival and it was Oughtibridge that carved out the first three chances. Charlie Tunnard and Dave Hudson both blasted over and Tunnard brought a good save out of The Vine keeper. When The Vine finally got going a Will Blakeney cross found Rikki Davidson (left), but the keeper somehow kept his header out. A minute later Liam Allott should have given The Vine the lead when he went past the keeper but put the ball wide instead. The pressure finally told just before half time when Steve Wilkinson put skipper for the day Davidson and he fired home what turned out to be the only goal of the game. After the break Dan Simpson was inches away from netting a second for The Vine, but Oughtibridge kept pressing for an equaliser and Hudson wasted two good chances. The Vine was grateful for Jonathan Riley and man of the match Karl Ainsworth to keep their clean sheet and title hopes intact and Oughtibridge will now have to win their final three games and hope that Norton Oaks A lose their last two.

Norton will have to play better than they did at Stannington Village, with Village having eight different scorers in a 9-1 victory. Dan Green set up Robin Elliott for the first and Adam Todd and Alex Torr combined to set up Danny Smith for the second. Coel Fulton pulled one back before the break, but the second half was one-way traffic. Sami Eric, Todd, Torr, Jack Ridge, Charlie Hobson and Lee Johnstone all added their names to the scoresheet before Smith netted his second to complete the rout.

Redmires are now just a point from safety after Jon Wall took his season's tally to fifteen with all his sides goals in their 4-2 win at Brinsworth Whitehill. Redmires got off to a flyer and Walls first two came in the first fifteen minutes, but five minutes before half time Brinsworth got back into the game with a Ross Johnson strike. Joe McGuiness almost levelled with a header from a Danny Willis corner just before the break, but they did get their equaliser at the start of the second half when skipper Sam Sweeney put Ainsley Finney through to score. Almost immediately though Redmires went back in front with Wall's hat-trick goal and he added his fourth in the dying seconds to make the points safe.

DIVISION 1 - Hallam take the Runners-up spot after Taxis are held at Loxley - City Taxis draw at Loxley meant that Hallam are promoted as Division One Runners-up, but Taxis draw looks set to be enough to see them promoted as they look set for three points against a Colley Tavern struggling to field a side in Taxis final game. This means they will pip Ecclesfield Players Lounge to third place on goal difference despite Gavin Hunter's (right) treble helping Ecclesfield to a 4-1 victory over already relegated Aston Swallownest. Colley Tavern's game at Chapeltown RBL couldn't go ahead after a caravan exhibition meant Chapeltown's pitch was unavailable!!

In a static first half the only chance of note saw Loxley's Steve Mayfield forced a good save out of Taxis keeper. Piers Bond should have put Loxley in front at the start of the second half, but put the ball over both the keeper and the net and instead it was Taxis that went in front when Jordan Marshall's deflected free kick squirmed under Loxley keeper Lee Crabtree. Loxley hit back and levelled when man of the match Josh Jones flicked header found the net. A foul on Anthony Marshall then saw his Taxis namesake Jordan Marshall receive his second yellow card, but Taxis ten men held on to the point that looks to be sufficient to take them up. That means it's heartbreak for Ecclesfield Players Lounge after Hunter's treble and one from Scott Whittington gave them a 4-1 victory after Aston Swallownest's leading scorer David Sills had given them an early lead.

DIVISION 2 - Devonshire held up, but Penistone and Killamarsh press on - Division Two leaders Devonshire missed the chance to be the first club to gain promotion from Division Two this season when they held to a 1-1 draw by promotion rivals Cobden View. Will Cutler gave Cobden the lead, but it was cancelled out by Jordan Hague in the first half. After that Devonshire piled forward in search of the winner, but Chris Nelson in the Cobden goal and his defence in front of him made sure they held on to a point that just about keeps them in contention.

Second place Penistone Church made no mistake though and continued their all-win record as two Brad Kemp goals and one from Danny Howes gave them a 3-0 victory over another promotion rival AFC George. Killamarsh Juniors kept their promotion challenge going by coming from behind to win a thriller 4-3 at Norton Oaks B. Jon Packman and Ross Taylor strikes gave Killamarsh a two goal half time lead, but Jordan Holland pulled one back for Norton direct from a corner and Nasa Meah quickly equalised. Norton stunned their visitors by going in front with an Oli West strike, but Killamarsh composed themselves and Chris Savage levelled before Spencer Hunt scored the kind of solo goal that was worthy of winning any game. Elsewhere two Dimitri White goals and one each for Joe Bland and Henry Bradshaw gave Woodhouse Juniors a 4-0 win at Top Club and Civil Service B completed the double over Crookes & District as Tom Burns, Joe Taylor, Toz Fogarty and Tom French goals saw Civil also win 4-0.

7-Apr - DIVISION 2 - Devonshire go clear at the top, while Steelers see off Top Club - After Penistone Church's game at Civil Service fell foul of the heavy overnight rain, Devonshire, helped by four goals from Nicky Owen, won 8-1 at Woodhouse Juniors to go three points clear at the top of Division Two. Owen hit all his goals in the first half along with one from Keith Cronin. Woodhouse pulled one back through Ferdi Celik , but they conceded three more to Sam Read, Lewis Whitaker and Dan Hoyland. Steelers made it five games unbeaten with a 4-1 victory against Top Club. Fraser Oxley gave Steelers a second minute lead and two minutes later Jordan Matthews added a second. Bradley Gray pulled one back for Top Club, but Steelers sealed victory with goals from Ash Matthews and Matt Coates.

6 Apr - Kitlocker Cup date and officials announced - The Blades Super Draw League Kitlocker Cup Final between Wadsley Bridge Pheasant and The Vine will be played at Bramall Lane on Thursday 28 April with a 7pm kick off. Admission will be £5 for adults and free for accompanied children under 16. The officials for the final are: Referee - Pete Henger; Assistant Referees - Steve Clarkson and Paul Holmes; 4th Official - Adam Burgess.

3-Apr - CBC PREMIER - Angel go top after Pheasant get tangled by The Vine - A Rikki Davidson (right) double helped The Vine win their Kitlocker Cup Final dress rehearsal against the previous leaders Wadsley Bridge Pheasant 3-2. Pheasant started on the front foot and after some chances had been wasted they finally went in front when a mistake by Mike Golland allowed Luke Beedham to tap the ball into an empty net. Liam Allott and Rikki Davidson wasted chances to equalise until soon after the break when Allott and Steve Wilkinson combined to create the opening for Davidson to hit his first. The Vine then took the lead when Jamie Smith played in Brent Heeley and he shot into the top corner to continue his record of scoring in all eleven seasons he has been with the club, but Smith then blotted his copybook by heading into his own net to bring Pheasant level. The game could have gone either way at this stage, but it was The Vine that took it when Allott sent Matt Ellis away and he crossed for man of the match Davidson to head home.

The Pheasant's loss combined with a late Mike Towey (left) goal that gave Woodhouse Angel a 3-2 win at Oughtibridge WM saw Angel go top of the CBC Premier. Angel opened the scoring with a Mitch Husbands penalty, but Oughtibridge levelled when Ross Brown put Charlie Tunnard through to slot home and they would have led at the break had it not been for a terrific save by the Angel keeper from Brown's shot. After the break Angel regained the lead when Sam Comer found the bottom corner, but the hardworking Oughtibridge levelled a second time and it was Tunnard that was again on target. The game looked destined for a draw, but in the dying moments Husbands whipped in a terrific free kick that was met by a bullet header from Towey to send Angel three points clear at the top.

Stannington Village kept their title hopes alive by coming from behind to win 3-1 at Brinsworth Whitehill. Brinsworth had beaten Stannington the week before and it looked like a repeat was on the cards when Mike Hare gave Brinsworth the lead with a shot from the edge of the area after just five minutes. Hare then had another good chance as did Ainsley Finney, but both were wasted and they had just the one goal to show for a dominant first half. Crucially though they lost keeper Jo Reed to injury near the end of the first half and striker Tom Coker had to take over the gloves. Stannington were quick to level after the break when Lee Johnstone slid in Danny Smith and he squared the ball for Adam Todd (right) to tap home at the back post and they took the lead soon after when a short corner led to Shaun Flynn whipping in a cross that was glanced home by Dan Green for his first of the season. They settled the game when Johnstone squared the ball for Smith to slide the ball under the keeper.

Civil Service A's chances of avoiding the drop look to be slipping away after they let a lead slip at FC Handsworth Turf and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.  After Turf's Harry Johnson had a goal bound shot brilliantly blocked and Lloyd Gelsthorpe had a shot saved by the Civil keeper, Civil began to push forward and Thomas Bamford scored his first goal for the club to give Civil a half time lead. Turf began to get on top in the second half and levelled when a four man move finished with Ollie Grady crossing for man of the match Danny Leesley to score with a spectacular overhead kick that went in off the bar. Johnson was then foiled by the Civil keeper when through one-on-one and Tom Smith had a header cleared off the line as Civil clung on for the point.

DIVISION 1 - Ecclesfield stop Taxis charge, but Hallam make no mistake - George Sheen struck late in the game to give Ecclesfield Players Lounge a 3-2 victory at fellow Division One promotion challengers City Taxis - a result that keeps Ecclesfield in the top three for the time at least. Ecclesfield took the lead when Danny Barnett was brought down in the area and Andy Baxter dispatched the penalty. Despite Barnett twice going close to stretching Ecclesfield's lead, but it was Taxis Scott Westney that struck next to send the teams into the break level. The game swung back in Ecclesfield's way when Taxis had Danny Major dismissed and Ecclesfield took full advantage to regain the lead in the second half when skipper and man of the match Mark Groves powered home a header into the top corner. Ecclesfield keeper James Abramski then made a string of terrific saves to keep his side in front, but even he could do nothing to stop Matt Knight bringing Taxis level again. It looked like the home side would hold on for a point until Sheen popped up to head Ecclesfield's winner at the back post. Action from the game is below - all pictures by Mick Moat.

Joe Howsham (right) scored twice as Hallam maintained second place with a 4-2 win at a Hare & Hounds that now need to win their last two to be certain of avoiding the drop. Despite Hallam having the majority of the early play it was George Rudd that gave Hare & Hounds the lead. Hallam levelled before the break through Tom Warburton. Howsham struck twice after the break to put Hallam in charge and although Rudd netted his second for Hounds, Jack Waddle netted Hallam's fourth to make the game safe.

Ranch could have made their place in Division One certain with victory against Loxley, but despite two Connor Brunt strikes giving them the lead they had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Loxley needed to win to keep their outside promotion hopes alive and took a first half lead through Piers Bond, but after the break the two Brunt strikes put Ranch ahead. Anthony Marshall was then felled in the area and Tim Pitt scored from the spot to bring Loxley level and Steve Mayfield, Ralph Clarkson and Pitt all went close to winning it for them, but Ranch held on for the point that probably sees them safe, while the result also means that Loxley's promotion chances are all but gone.

Intake Old Boys made their place in Division One safe for another season with a 2-0 victory at an Aston Swallownest that is now just one more defeat away from the drop. After Aston had missed some early chances Tom Gabbitas met a pinpoint corner to give Intake a first half lead. Intake took control of the game in the second half and Matt Hunter ran onto Jack Conlan's through ball to complete the scoring.

DIVISION 2 - Devonshire in good Nick to go top, but Killamarsh, Cobden and George all drop points - Nicky Owen (left) hit his seventh hat-trick of the season as Devonshire ended Norton Oaks B's winning streak with a 3-0 victory over them to go top of Division Two. After a Ben Bell penalty and a James Cottingham strike had given Cobden View a two goal half time lead at fellow promotion challengers Killamarsh Juniors, the home side hit back to claim a 2-2 draw with a Joe Glover penalty and a Ross Taylor strike in off a post. That point each didn't really help either of them, but it could have been worse had AFC George not also dropped points in a 4-4 draw at Top Club. It could have been even worse for George as two Dave Thompson goals along with one from Liam Bryan and an own goal had given Club a 4-2 lead, but a Michael Blythen (right) hat-trick and a Shaun Waller goal gave George the point that keeps them in contention to take the third automatic promotion place. Another draw, 3-3, came at Steelers visit to Woodhouse Juniors. Dimitri White, Adam West and Ferdi Celic goals kept giving Woodhouse the lead, but Kyle Clarkson, Rhydian Watkins and Gage West strikes earned Steelers their point. The battle of the bottom two saw Civil Service B come out on top 3-1 against Crookes & District. Ryan Haywood gave Civil a second minute lead which was doubled by Joe Taylor in the second minute after the break. James Lippett almost immediately pulled one back for Crookes, but a Mitch Seymour strike confirmed Civil's second win of the season.
