22-Dec 2014 - Fixture change for Intake Old Boys on 4 January - Intake Old Boys have been instructed by the County FA that their delayed 4th Round Sunday Junior Cup tie against Hill Top will now be played on Sunday 4 January. This means that Intake's league game on 4 January with Southey Social will be postponed. If Intake win their tie on 4 Jan, they will then play their 5th Round tie at Upton Wrangbrook on 11 Jan and if they win that, they will play the quarter final on 18 January against opponents to still be decided.

22-Dec 2014 - Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to everyone - The League would like to wish all players, officials, referees, sponsors and supporters the very best for a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

21-Dec 2014 – SENIOR SUNDAY CUP - Redmires give Bagshaw an early Bath to drive them up the Wall - Redmires found themselves two down to Bagshaw Arms five minutes into the second half in the Sunday Senior Cup and the Imperial League side looked set to get a second consecutive Blades Super Draw scalp, but Andy Bath (right) started the comeback with a left foot shot from inside the penalty area. Jon Wall then brought Redmires level with a terrific thirty yard free kick. Bath hit another left foot shot into the bottom corner to put Redmires ahead and, after Joe Keighley was brought down in the area, Wall added his second from the penalty spot to clinch that spot in the last eight.

The Vine started off on the back foot as Royal Earl began strongly and only two great saves by stand-in keeper Sam Blackburn and the woodwork stopped Earl taking the lead. The Vine hung on and surprised their visitors by taking the lead when Rikki Davidson nicked the ball on the right, beat two defenders and crossed for Matt Ellis to fire home. The lead didn’t last long though and with two goals, Earl went into the interval in front. The Vine changed formation at the break and took the game to the visitors, and both Danny Seaman and Craig Woolley went close to equalising, but they suffered a body blow when keeper Blackburn was injured and Joe France had to take over in goal. France then made a great save, but the ball fell kindly for Earl and they increased their lead. The Vine continued to push Earl back, but were caught on the break as the visitors added a fourth.

JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP - Comrades get Turfed out, but Taxis crash - Handsworth Turf booked their place in the Sunday Junior Cup quarter final with a 3-2 victory at Comrades. Turf got off to the perfect start when ‘birthday boy’ Tom Crosby’s (left) cross was controlled in the box by Ben Shackshaft before he turned his marker and smashed the ball into the roof of the net from twelve yards to give his side a first minute lead. Turf doubled their lead when keeper Liam Richardson’s long clearance beat the defence and Kieran Gallagher struck a first time volley into the top corner. Only two great saves by the Comrades keeper stopped Shackshaft and Gallagher from increasing Turf’s lead, before Comrades got themselves back into the game with a goal before the break. After the break Comrades were spurred on by that goal and Turf changed formation to stem the tide. The change worked and a quick break saw James Leesley restore Turf’s two goal lead when a thirty yard run saw him beat three defenders before beating the keeper. Comrades pulled one back, but with Danny Leesley outstanding for Turf they held on for that spot in the quarter final.

Despite a terrific second half comeback, City Taxis crashed out to Rotherham’s Manor Hotel. Despite a Nicky Young goal, Taxis were left standing in the first half and they were 4-1 down at the break. The second half saw them take the game to their visitors and Flo Fadiga and Scott Westney strikes took them to within just a goal of Manor, but they couldn’t grab another and went out 4-3.

CBC PREMIER - Oughtibridge leave it late to snatch a point, while Civil make up ground - In the CBC Premier, it looked as if leaders Oughtibridge WM’s thirty match unbeaten run was coming to an end at Woodhouse Angel, until a last minute penalty by Mark Townsend (right) gave Oughtibridge WM a 3-3 draw. Angel drew first blood when Gareth Simons scored from a tight angle following Sam Comer’s corner and after Michael Towey, Dave Kippax and Simons had squandered chances, Kirk Briddon hit the woodwork, but their pressure finally paid off when Comer hit an unstoppable free kick from thirty five yards. Oughtibridge got themselves back into the game when a Townsend shot was pushed onto a post by Angel keeper Johno Williams and Jamie Smith forced the ball home, but their joy was short lived as straight from the kick-off Michael Towey hit an amazing strike in off the underside of the bar to restore Angel’s two goal lead.

The second half saw Oughtibridge have much more possession but Angel’s well organised defence and keeper Williams seemed to be keeping them at bay until he could only parry a shot and despite making a great save from the first rebound, Adi Tomlin made no mistake with the second rebound. James Baker then had an ‘equaliser’ ruled out, but in the final minute a cross was handled in the area by Ryan McGuiness and Townsend stepped up to send Williams the wrong way. The win would have taken Angel to the top, but they had to console themselves with the knowledge that the point had lifted them two places into second place.

Making up ground on both of them is Civil Service after a Gary Eades double helped them to a comfortable 5-1 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels. Civil opened the scoring after just twelve minutes when Andrzej Gordon-Hides cross to the back post was turned home by Wes Bamford and it was doubled two minutes later when Gavin Wills picked out Danny Fowler and his cross was rammed into the net by Eades. A third came when Gordon-Hides dispossessed the Steels keeper and although his shot looked to be on its way in, Eades made absolutely sure for his second. The fourth came soon after the break when Eades perfect pass allowed Fowler to fire low into the bottom corner and Wills made it five with a sublime free kick from twenty five yards. Steels’ consolation came when Mitchell Savage’s corner flew direct into the net.

A Callum Chambers double helped Riverside take their first away points of the season with a 4-1 victory at a Brinsworth Whitehill normally so strong at home. After a goalless first half man of the match Warren Scott-Walker played an inch perfect ball for Callum Chambers to give Riverside the lead. Chambers scored his second from the penalty spot after Sean Frawley had been upended in the box. Scott-Walker then set up Luke Broadbent to celebrate his birthday with a goal and although Ross Johnson pulled one back when Brinsworth were awarded a penalty, Frawley made those first away points certain with Riverside’s fourth.

DIVISION 1 - MacRury double stops Southey in their tracks, while Barnett leaves Intake pulling their hair out - A Callum Macrury double helped in-form Loxley to a surprise victory at Division One leaders Southey Social. Loxley took the lead when MacRury volleyed into the top corner and debutant Alex Dalton doubled their lead. Dalton then set MacRury up for his second to make it 3-0 at half time. Soon after the break Tom Story robbed a defender and converted for Loxley’s fourth and it was nearly five when Steve Mayfield hit a post and Mark Newman forced the Southey keeper into a good save from close range. With Lewis Armstrong heading and tackling anything that came his way, Loxley looked rock solid until John Mellor pulled one back for Southey with a terrific strike. Joel Askham then smashed a free kick home for Southey’s second and they had a couple of chances to further reduce the arrears, but Loxley deservedly held on to put a real dent into Southey’s title hopes

Intake Old Boys started the day in second place, but they slipped a place after a shock 1-0 defeat at a Dam House Bar in the bottom three. The early pressure came from Intake so it was against the run of play when Danny Barnett made the most of a good advantage by the referee Pete Selby and raced past two defenders before firing into the bottom corner. Although Intake had plenty more pressure after that, they couldn’t break down a well organised defence that received good protection from Lee Bendle in midfield

A Craig Senior (left) double helped earn Ecclesfield Players Lounge a point with a 2-2 draw at Norton Oaks A. In a first half dominated by the visitors, Senior gave Ecclesfield the lead when he outpaced the home defence and after missing a similar chance he grabbed his second when he seized on a back header. Senior then had another effort disallowed and Lee Foreman almost marked his debut with a goal from a corner. Despite the best efforts of Danny Turner, the second half belonged to Norton and they took a deserved share of the spoils with Billy Ireland and Kenny Brakes strikes.

Aston Swallownest moved away from the danger zone with a 3-1 victory at Ranch. A collision between keeper Mark Broadhurst and defender Chris Wajs gifted the opening goal to Aston’s Matt Wilton and after the break, Danny Wilcox turned on a sixpence to fire home Aston’s second. Ranch almost pulled one back when Joe Nadin hit the bar, but Aston made it three when Steve Batty misjudged keeper Scott Hall’s long clearance and David Sills pounced to score. Ranch managed to get one consolation though with a terrific Tom Hartley solo goal.

DIVISION 2 - Phoenix fly clear Phoenix opened up a three point gap at the top of Division Two with a 4-0 home win over Laycock Sports. Kyron Bingham scored the first with a bullet header from man of the match Josh Duckworth’s pin point cross and another Duckworth cross allowed Kieran Cull to head Phoenix’s second before the break. Duckworth then cut the ball back for Karl Fox to make it three and a twenty pass move allowed Nicky Shaw (right) to make it four.

Chapeltown RBL kept up their unbeaten away record to revive their promotion hopes with a 3-0 victory at Crookes & District. Neil Boote took advantage of a mistake by the keeper to tap Chapeltown into the lead. Keenan Gibson then produced a defence splitting ball for Liam Gibson to score the second at the second attempt and another defence splitting pass allowed Dale Shaw to set Tom Rollitt up for the third. Crookes did better after the break, although only a terrific save stopped Gav Burbeary adding a fourth for the visitors.

For a second match in a row Fox & Hounds just came out on top in a nine goal thriller, with visitors Cobden View unlucky to go home empty handed. Although View’s Rich Lowery headed home a Dave Hunt corner to cancel out Dan Hartley’s early opener for the home side, Fox re-took the lead with a terrific outside of the foot shot from a tight angle by Matt Roberts. Roberts then got a second from the penalty spot before Craig Begbie added a fourth before the break. It was a different story in the second half though, with Andy Jakubowski netting a second for View from another Hunt corner, but Fox restored their three goal lead when another Roberts shot was unluckily deflected past his own keeper by a defender. View didn’t give up though and two Mark Hoyle goals put them right back in the game, but they ran out of time before they could force an equaliser.

Sharrow Vale grabbed a second consecutive away victory with a 4-2 win at Norton Oaks B. Vale’s bright start was rewarded when John Matterson converted James Siddle’s long through ball and Andrew Foster’s defence splitting pass enabled Nick Hardbridge to tuck home Vale’s second before the interval. Vale continued where they had left off and some neat footwork by Matterson enable him to stretch their lead to three. Joe Lovatt’s through ball then enabled Hardbridge to score his second and Vale’s fourth before Norton rallied to score late goals by Richard Pearson and Josh Stafford.

14-Dec 2014 – CBC PREMIER - Mikey is Taylor made for Redmires, while Briddon's got talent for Angel - Mikey Taylor (left) grabbed the winner as Redmires went second after coming from behind to beat Brinsworth Whitehill, while Kirk Briddon scored the opener as Woodhouse Angel joined the title race with victory over champions Stannington Village, but Civil Service lost a lead and dropped points with a draw at The Vine.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Woodhouse Angel 2-1 Stannington Village

After losing their first three games of the season Woodhouse Angel made it sixteen out of their last eighteen points with victory over reigning CBC Premier Champions Stannington Village to propel themselves into the title race.

Although both sides coped well with the blustery conditions, the defences were on top of the early exchanges, but with the games’ outstanding player Michael Towey a real driving force, Angel began to gain control and the opener came midway through the first half. A back to front passing move resulted in a throw in for Angel and from Mark Coggin's long throw Towey flicked the ball towards the back post and Kirk Briddon (right) headed home from close range.

Stannington tried to respond and when Rob Shelley had a good chance he hit the side netting when there was better options, and Lee Johnstone also had a shot blocked when well placed, but it was Angel that looked the more likely to add to the score with Briddon and their skipper Gareth Simons a constant threat to the Stannington rearguard.

Half time 1-0

Although the second half began with Stannington looking intent on getting back into the game, they were unable to create anything meaningful against the outstanding Angel back four, who were giving the Stannington forwards no time and space. Angel began to take control once more and with Michael Towey always at the centre of things. Towey twice forced Stannington keeper Nathan Ryan into good saves and he also had to thwart several efforts by Simons and Coggin. Angel's pressure was eventually rewarded midway through the half when another well worked move down. Right back Nick Hague won the ball before sending Coggin away down the right and his inviting pass saw Simons and Stannington keeper Ryan both end on the floor, but Simons (left) was quickest back to his feet to finish well from a tight angle.

Stannington made several changes to try to get back into the game and threw everything at Angel - even putting centre half John Saville up front. That ploy almost worked when Saville had a header cleared off the line, but Angel's defence withstood this excellently for the most part, until, after a series of corners, Stannington were awarded a penalty for handball by Angel sub Matt Fells. From the resulting penalty Josh Coulson sent Angel keeper Johno Williams the wrong way. Stannington applied further pressure after that to try to avoid a second successive defeat for the first time in over three seasons and Johnstone hit the bar from twenty five yards, and Gavin Davis had a goal bound shot blocked, but Angel held out to put a real dent in the champions chances of holding on to their title.

Final score: Woodhouse Angel 2-1 Stannington Village

Woodhouse Angel: Johno Williams, Nick Hague, Luke Browse, Liam Kay, Dave Kippax, Chris Towey, Mark Coggin, Gareth Simons, Michael Towey, Kirk Briddon, Tom Goodall Subs: Sam Comer, Matt Fells

Stannington Village: Nathan Ryan, Shane Hinshelwood, Cory Mann, Dan Green, John Saville, Josh Coulson, Rob Shelley, Lee Johnstone, Dean Jepson, Jack Mylnek, Bill Green Subs: Sami Eric, Robin Elliott, Jake Osgathorpe, Gavin Davis, John Grayson.

Referee: Adam Burgess

Mikey Taylor grabbed the winner as Redmires climbed above Stannington to go second in the CBC Premier by coming from behind to beat Brinsworth Whitehill. Although Danny Willis hit the Redmires bar and the Redmires keeper needed to make two very good saves from Matt Langley shots, it was Redmires that struck first when Andy Bath was brought down in the area and Jon Wall stroked home the penalty. Brinsworth immediately hit back with two goals in five minutes. The equaliser was a Joe McGuiness header from a deep a deep Langley cross and they took the lead with a twenty five yard Willis free kick into the top corner.

After the break, McGuiness twice went close to extending Brinsworth’s lead, but they were finding themselves pushed backwards in the face of a strong wind and Redmires finally made their pressure pay when Bath equalised. Redmires continued to press and they eventually grabbed the winner when Ben Palmer crossed for Taylor to score.

Civil Service’s title bid took a blow when they lost a lead and dropped points with a 1-1 draw at The Vine. The Vine started strongly and almost took the lead when Phil Miskell’s cross hit the bar and leading scorer Matt Ellis shot wide, but it was Civil that took the lead midway through the first half when a Gavin Wills free-kick caused The Vine defence problems and Danny Fowler turned on a sixpence to fire home the opener off the underside of the bar.

The Vine almost levelled at the start of the second half when James Mitcham hit the outside of a post, but it wasn’t too long before they did equalise when a long throw wasn’t dealt with by the Civil defence and Ellis poked home. With Adam Jackson a terrier in midfield for Civil they might have won it when Fowler and Stacy Sharif went close, but Ellis, Rikki Davidson and Joe France also had chances to win it for The Vine.

DIVISION 1 - Lindley quick off the mark to keep Southey on top, while Turf go second - Danny Lindley (left) finished off a move straight from the kick-off as Southey Social beat Dam House Bar 2-1 to stay top of Division One. John Mellor, Chris Roberts and Rob Womack all combined to set-up Lindley for the opener after just twenty seconds, but that was as good as it got in the first half for Southey as Dam House, with the benefit of a strong wind at their backs put them under constant pressure. An equaliser eventually came as player-manager Liam Boswell applied a neat finish.

The second half saw a complete reverse as Southey now had the benefit of the wind and half time sub Joel Askham almost scored with his first touch with a shot from twenty yards. Good defending and goalkeeping was keeping Southey at bay, but when Askham, Mellor and Lindley combined to set up Roberts, his shot too hot for the keeper to hold and David Wheeler was on hand to put away the rebound. Dam House gave the Southey defence one or two nervous moments, it was Southey’s Womack  that went closest to another goal when his shot was brilliantly saved by the Dam House keeper.

Up to second is Handsworth Turf after a hard earned 3-1 win at Aston Swallownest. Turf started on the front foot and after new signing Danny Wilson had flashed a shot just wide, Frazer McNeill’s ball down the line found the run of James Leesley and after beating his man he cut the ball back for Tom Crosby to hit a great strike from the edge of the area into the bottom corner. Aston got back into the game and grabbed a deserved goal by Lee Anthony sent the team’s in level at the break.

Aston kept up the pressure after the break and only an outstanding save by Turf keeper Liam Richardson (right) stopped the home side taking the lead. His work was rewarded when Turf went back in front. Ollie Grady’s through ball found Ben Shackshaft and although he was tackled after rounding the keeper, the loose ball was turned into his own net under pressure by Wilson. Aston responded by putting the Turf goal under pressure, but after Craig Cansdale had gone close to a third for Turf, they did add another in the final minute with a twenty yard strike from the hard working Shackshaft that flew into the top corner.

The Pheasant boosted their promotion hopes with a 3-1 victory over promotion rivals Norton Oaks A. Pheasant had a half time lead after Lewis Fothergill had cut the ball back for Craig Mawhood to score and they doubled it after the break when Dylan Parrott beat the offside trap before pulling the ball back for Andy Mitchell to rifle home. Norton hit back and Danny Reet hit a terrific shot to reduce the arrears and it looked as if they might go on to get a point when The Pheasant’s keeper was given a straight red. They couldn’t make the most of it though and when Parrott was brought down in the area he picked himself up to score The Pheasant’s third from the resulting penalty.

DIVISION 2 - Fowler treble keeps Colley third, while a Deniff treble keeps Hallam right behind them Colley are now just three points behind the Division Two leaders after a Chris Fowler hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 victory over Sharrow Vale. Colley started quickly and were denied a lead by both bar and post and a superb save by the Sharrow keeper, but Sharrow weren’t just defending and carved out a few chances of their own. Colley got their noses in front when Matt Meaney flicked on for Chris Fowler to rifle a shot across the keeper and they doubled their lead when Wesley Petch crossed to the back post for Fowler to stab home his second.

Sharrow started the second half well, but after they had created and wasted more chances they fell further behind when Colley was awarded a penalty and Meaney scored from the spot. Sharrow deservedly pulled one back when they were awarded a penalty and John Matterson scored confidently, but it was Colley that had the final say when Fowler completed his hat-trick.

Despite having Jack Waddle sent off early in the game, Hallam stayed right behind Colley as Will Deniff's hat-trick helped them to a 5-0 victory at Laycock Sports. The League’s leading scorer Joe Howsham gave Hallam the lead after just thirty seconds, but the home side looked likely to equalise when Waddle was judged to have stopped a goalscoring opportunity when he brought down an attacker and as well as conceding the penalty he was dismissed. His keeper came to his rescue though by saving the penalty and it was Hallam that looked to have the greater numbers and doubled their lead before the break with Deniff’s first. Deniff added two more after the break before Miles Howarth added a fifth.

Liam Garret scored twice as Steelers got back to winning ways by coming from behind to win 3-1 at Cobden View. Cobden led at the break thanks to a terrific long range strike by Younis Mekhaflia, but Steelers levelled on the hour with a brilliant free kick from Liam Garrett. Garrett then put Steelers ahead before Kaiden Simpson wrapped up the win for them with a third two minutes from time.

7-Dec 2014 – KITLOCKER CUP - Smith tames Bulls, while Norton go Irish and Stannington squeeze through - New signing Jamie Smith scored a hat-trick to send Oughtibridge WM through to their first ever League Kitlocker Cup semi final with a 3-0 victory over Bulls Head. Smith had already had a twenty five yard shot brilliantly tipped over by Bulls keeper Matt Coates before he headed Sean Lee’s cross home to put his side ahead. Smith then produced a second when his terrific forty yard lob left Coates stranded to double Oughtibridge’s lead by half time. The second half saw Bulls Head come into the game more, but they found it hard to break Oughtibridge down and it was Smith that had the final say when he rounded Coates to complete his hat-trick.

Norton Oaks A will be the only non-CBC Premier side in the semi finals after goals from Sam and Billy Ireland saw them end Division Two Hallam FC’s unbeaten record in all competitions. After a goalless first half it was Norton that got their noses in front when Sam Ireland curled a shot into the top corner, but Hallam hit back and levelled when leading scorer Joe Howsham hit a low shot into the bottom corner (first left below). The tie could have gone either way at this point, but it was Norton that won it when Billy Ireland headed a corner home.

Division One leaders Southey Social took champions Stannington Village all the way to extra time and penalties before Stannington’s keeper Nathan Ryan (right) saved two penalties to enable his side to squeeze through. Southey had slightly the better of the first half, but the Stannington defence stood firm and it was Stannington that had the better of the second half, with Jack Mylnek missing a golden chance to win it for them, but the Southey defence stood firm this time and it went to extra time.

Stannington got their noses in front  when Sam Eric scored following a scramble in the Southey goalmouth and it looked as if it would be enough, but in the final minute of extra time Danny Lindley was dragged down in the area and John Mellor stepped up to coolly level from the spot. After both teams scored their first four penalties, Southey had the chance to win it when Stannington missed their fifth penalty, but Ryan produced a good save to keep his side in it. It then went to five goals each and after John Saville scored to put Stannington 6-5 ahead, Ryan then saved his second penalty to send Stannington through to their ninth semi final.

Brinsworth Whitehill and cup holders Redmires will have to try again after their game was abandoned following a serious injury to Redmires' Dave Knaggs after just two minutes. It was an innocuous challenge between two players that brought the injury, but with the help of Brinsworth and a paramedic who was watching his son on a nearby pitch, they made him as comfortable as possible until an ambulance came.

CBC PREMIER - Coggin moves Angel up a gear, while Ellis lifts The Vine - Mark Coggin scored the clincher as Woodhouse Angel's climb up the CBC Premier table continued with a 2-0 victory over The Park to make it thirteen out of their last fifteen points. After a slow start Angel began to create chances and The Park keeper did well to tip a Dave Kippax volley onto the bar. Kippax did eventually make the breakthrough before half time with a left foot strike after The Park keeper had made a good save to block Chris Towey’s header. The Park could make little headway against the Angel defence and after Angel had squandered a number of chances, Coggin finally settled the game when the move of the game left him one-on-one with the keeper.

The Vine moved up three places after Matt Ellis’ early strike proved to be the only goal of the game at home against Riverside. Shaun Brunt got away down the right and crossed for Ellis to head home and Ellis nearly doubled their lead when his shot from the edge of the area hit a post. Christian Nixon twice went close for The Vine in the second half, but Riverside also hit a post as they pressed for an equaliser and it also needed a terrific save by The Vine keeper Dan Simpson to see them hold on to all the points.

DIVISION 1 - Garwell double helps Intake, but Intake and Loxley keep up with them  - Skipper Shaun Garwell scored twice as Intake Old Boys came from behind three times to pip Dam House Bar to put them just a point behind the Division One leaders. After Steve Davies put Dam House ahead by combining with Harry ONeill, Garwell headed his first and only a great save by Dam House keeper Nathan Stovoldt stopped Intake going ahead. Liam Boswell then put Dam House back in front from close range, only for Garwell to cancel it out with another header soon after half time. Jake Brown then marked his full debut for Dam House with a goal to put his side ahead a third time, but Russ Hobson cancelled it out before Adam Clayton hit the winner for Intake.

Handsworth Turf stayed third with a 3-1 home victory over Hare & Hounds. The visitors started well and took a deserved lead with a Jake Schofield strike and only two good saves by Turf keeper Liam Richardson stopped them extending it. With youngster Ollie Grady outstanding, Turf began to get into the game and after Kieran Gallagher had volleyed wide, Turf equalised with a great solo goal by Perry Jackson. It got better for Turf when Gallagher’s cross was turned in at the back post by Ben Shackshaft to give Turf a half time lead. Carl Bowler fired home a third from close range and only some good saves by the Hounds keeper stopped them adding more.

Loxley stayed fourth after also coming from behind to win 2-1 at promotion rivals The Pheasant. Ben Nicholson gave The Pheasant an early lead and missed several other chances to take control of the game, but a mix-up in The Pheasant defence allowed Jon Rhodes to equalise for Loxley. Man of the match and skipper for the day Steve Mayfield almost put Loxley ahead with a diving header before half time. Loxley controlled the game after half time and after Tom Wilson headed against a post and debutant Jamie South hit both posts Loxley finally got a deserved winner when seventeen year old sub Dale Mellors drove a strike across the keeper.

Ecclesfield Players Lounge was another to come from behind to win 2-1 at Ranch. Shannon Marshland hit a great strike into the top corner to put Ranch ahead and they almost doubled their lead when Paul Smith hit the bar and Tom Hartley forced a good save out of the Ecclesfield keeper. There was a bit of luck about Ecclesfield’s equaliser when it came as the strong wind took a Mark Groves cross over everyone and into the net. The second half saw Ecclesfield’s Joe Knight and Andy Baxter both hit the woodwork, while Craig Senior hit the side netting. They finally won it when a defence splitting ball by Paul Bashforth (left) found overlapping full back Dale Hirst and his cross was turned home by Danny Turner. Kieran Wraith almost grabbed a third for Ecclesfield, but Ranch also had their chances and might well have took a point.

DIVISION 2 - Phoenix out-Fox Steelers to stay top, while a Reynalds treble lifts Norton Division Two leaders Phoenix stayed top as a Karl Fox treble helped them to victory over Steelers, but City Taxis stayed level on points with them with victory at Chapeltown RBL. Another hat-trick came from Norton Oaks B's Ste Reynalds to help them to victory over Cobden View, while Sharrow Vale's four match losing streak was ended as they came from behind to win at Laycock Sports. A third hat-trick came from Crookes & District's Rob Acheson, but it was in vain as visitors Fox & Hounds Rangers went home with the points.

Division Two leaders Phoenix stayed top as a Karl Fox treble helped them to a 7-0 victory over Steelers. Brad Clarke was first to a rebound to give Phoenix the lead and Fox grabbed his first when he confidently finished off a flowing move. Fox made it 3-0 at half time with a cheeky back-heel from a Dale Savage cross and he completed his hat-trick after the break with another good finish. Fox then set up Clarke for his second of the game before Nicky Shaw marked his comeback after a ten month injury lay-off with a goal and Karl Savage completed the scoring from the edge off the area

City Taxis stayed level on points with Phoenix with a 3-0 at Chapeltown RBL. Callum Hackford gave Taxis the lead from the edge of the area and Scott Westney made it two with a twenty five yard curler. Flo Fadiga scored for a sixth successive game to make it three before half time and that’s how it stayed.

Norton Oaks B's Steve Reynalds hit a hat-trick to help them to a 3-1 victory over Cobden View, who’s goal came from Jamie Davies. Sharrow Vale's four match losing streak was ended as they came from behind to win at Laycock Sports. Steve Morris put Laycocks ahead from the penalty spot  and after Andrew Foster had almost levelled for Sharrow when he hit a post, a minute after the break saw Joe Lovatt finish off a move to equalise. Laycocks then piled on the pressure, but a set-piece saw Mike Shaw head Sharrow’s winner.

A third man to hit a hat-trick came from Crookes & District's Rob Acheson, but it was in vain as visitors Fox & Hounds Rangers went home with the points after a 5-4 victory. Jon Butler hit Crookes’ other goal, but Fox won it with goals from Mitch McDowall, Craig Begbie, Lee Gelder, Ashley Peet and Carl Lacey.
