26 Nov - Clubs are reminded about the League Meeting at Bramall Lane on Monday 26 Nov - All clubs are reminded that it is the League Meeting at Bramall Lane on Monday 26 November 2012 at 7:30pm.

26 Nov - Ecclesfield Players Lounge Movember fund raiser for Izzy - The players of Ecclesfield Players Lounge have been growing moustaches during Movember to raise funds for former player Scott Touhey's 3 year old daughter Izzy. They have raised £1000 towards her treatment and to help send Izzy on a trip to Lapland where she might just meet someone special. Below, left, are some of the players with their moustaches and right, are some of the others who had to improvise!! At the League meeting on 26 Nov, the League added a further £50 to the total and some clubs had also had collections and those were also given to Ecclesfield.

25 Nov - CBC PREMIER - Southey and Ecclesfield both win, while Redmires Knagg their way back - Despite a weekend that saw many games postponed due to waterlogged pitches, the race for the CBC Premier title heated up as Southey Social climbed up to second with victory over Pitsmoor Royal Oak and only goal difference separates them from third place Ecclesfield Players Lounge after their victory over The Vine.

Already injury hit, The Vine suffered a further blow early on when they lost their last recognised defender Chris Hull, but they plugged away and might well have taken the lead when Ricky Davidson shot over the bar. Davidson then went even closer when he hit the woodwork and Brent Heeley went close, but, with Will Turnbull outstanding, Ecclesfield were also having their fair share of chances. Craig Senior went close twice and Joe Knight headed over. Eventually Senior broke the deadlock when he headed home a Kieron Webb cross and Joe Knight made the points safe when he drilled home a Gavin Hunter cross.

Southey Social climbed above Ecclesfield on goal difference after their 6-1 victory over another injury hit side, Pitsmoor Royal Oak. John Mellor (right) was their main tormentor with three of Southey’s goals, while Nicky Bond added two and Lee Wilson the other. Luke Parwana scored Pitsmoor’s goal to bring them level at half time, but they were washed away in the second half.

Handsworth Turf took the lead against Redmires when Ben Shackshaft converted Mark Jones’s cross and they doubled their lead when Joe France intercepted a backpass by James Kirkham and rounded the keeper to score. With Mark Barnsley outstanding, the points looked to be firmly heading Turf’s way when Shackshaft crossed for France to head his second, but just before half time Dave Knaggs (left) pulled one back to give Redmires hope. The second half saw Redmires take the game to the home side and driven on by Jon Wall they deservedly levelled with two more from Knaggs. Turf almost snatched the lead back when France hit a post and then had one disallowed for offside, but Redmires held on for their point.

DIV 1 - James and Packman doubles lift Old Boys - In Division One’s only game, Handsworth Old Boys climbed into the top three after Chris James and Jon Packman doubles helped them to a 5-1 victory at Oughtibridge Village. James after three minutes and Packman after ten minutes gave Handsworth the perfect start, but they couldn’t add to it in the first half and after the break the game looked to be swinging Oughtibridge’s way when Matt Cundy scored after Tom Fletcher’s shot had created the opening. Handsworth had other ideas though and re-took the initiative when James scored his second and they finished the home side off with a Jack Hall strike and Packman’s second.

DIV 2 - Dan's the man four the leaders, while Anston and Loxley also win - Division Two leaders Cobden View opened up a four point gap as four Dan Skidmore goals helped them to a 6-0 victory at Players Lounge Athletic. Skidmore headed Cobden in front and then came the defining moment in the game when Mike Walker was brought down in the area by Athletic defender Ross McSeveney and with referee Craig Couldwell adjudging him to be the last man, he was sent off. Skidmore scored the penalty and Walker added a third before Skidmore completed his hat-trick with a second penalty after he had been brought down. Skidmore headed his fourth from a Dave Hunt corner and Paul Griffiths completed the scoring.

Anston Athletic are up to second after they came from two down to beat Phoenix. Two Nicky Shaw goals put Phoenix in front until Ben Sargeant collected James Lawton’s pass before rounding the keeper to pull one back. The second half saw Lawton again the provider as Jordan Smith levelled the scores, but almost immediately Josh Aston restored Phoenix’s lead. Anston hit back again when Lawton’s shot bobbled over the keeper and they snatched the three points in the last couple of minutes when Dan Nelson returned the ball into the middle for Adam Russell to score after Russell’s shot had initially hit the bar.

Loxley maintained their perfect away record with 5-0 victory at Fox & Hounds to make them genuine title contenders. Despite Fox & Hounds looking the more likely to score in the first half, it was Geoff Mayfield that gave Loxley a first half lead with an overhead kick and even though the home side was still having plenty of the ball it was Geoff’s brother, Steve Mayfield that struck to double Loxley’s lead. Steve then scored his second with an almost identical shot and the points were as good as won when Karl Taylor headed Loxley’s fourth. Sub John Denton came on to net Loxley’s fifth, but the scoreline was a little harsh on the home side.

24 Nov - JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP - Villa and Phoenix both have to travel - Both Hemsworth Villa and Phoenix have been draw away to Rotherham sides. Phoenix travel to a Pewter Pot side that knocked out Bradwell Skips in the last round, while Villa travel to Feathers. Action from Villa's victory over Cask Corner has now been added to the November News.

Please confirm the games with all your referees immediately.

18 Nov - CBC PREMIER - Leaders held, but EPL rise continues and The Vine up 5 places - A John Saville strike rescued CBC Premier leaders Stannington Village as they came from behind to claim a point at home against Stocksbridge Park Steels. Steels started the better of the two and took the lead when John Ward intercepted a Jack Mylnek pass before feeding the ball to Scott Birch and his terrific cross was met with an equally good header by Adam Todd. Ward almost doubled Steels lead, but the leaders hit back in the last half hour and when Bill Green’s long throw found Saville, he volleyed home the equaliser.

Ecclesfield Players Lounge are up to third after two Gavin Hunter goals helped them come from behind to win at Southey Social. Hunter fastened onto a Craig Senior cross to open the scoring, but a trip on John Mellor in the area allowed Southey’s Jamie Roper to level from the penalty spot. The second half saw Mellor turn his marker and unleash an unstoppable shot from twenty five yards to give Southey the lead, but Ecclesfield dragged themselves level with Hunter’s second of the game, before winning it when Senior headed home.

The biggest climb though was by The Vine as they went from bottom to mid-table with victory at Pitsmoor Royal Oak with the help of a penalty save by James Marshall. Danny Seaman gave The Vine a first half lead when he headed home after Ricky Davidson had beaten the full back and crossed. Pitsmoor should have levelled when they were awarded a penalty for a trip by Simon Clark, but Gavin Davis’s spot kick was brilliantly saved by James Marshall (right) and Marshall then produced another brilliant save from a Luke Parwana shot. After the break, The Vine’s Chris Hull hit the bar and Oliver Ward went close, before Dan Bateman and Seaman combined to leave Davidson with a simple tap-in to double The Vine’s lead. Craig Graham did pull one back for Pitsmoor, but The Vine defence held firm afterwards to get the win that saw them climb five places.

DIV 1 - Bush end Angel run, while The Park go goal crazy against Niagara - Gareth Simons missed a vital spot kick as Division One leaders Woodhouse Angel's perfect record was ended as a Kavin May double helped lowly Hollin Bush to a share of the points. May gave Bush a shock lead until it was wiped out by Chris Towey just before half time. Angel took the lead in the second half with a Simons penalty and after May had struck a second time to bring Bush level, Angel were awarded a second penalty, but this time Simons missed and Angel failed to take maximum points for the first time this season.

No such trouble for The Park though as both Calvin Thomas and Tony Gurnhill hit hat-tricks in a 10-0 win over seriously depleted Niagara. Mark Townsend, two from Lee Bridges and a Callum Harrison goal completed the scoring. Ryan Campbell also scored three in Oughtibridge Village's victory over Old Blue Ball. Christain Rowe gave Ball a third minute lead with an expertly taken free kick, but Village levelled when Campbell was brought down in the area and Strachan Sampson scored from the spot. Campbell then gave Village the lead, but they were pegged back before half time by a Callum Chambers strike. Justin Westoby thought he had restored Village’s lead before his shot cannoned off the bar, but they did go in front when Campbell headed home. Driven on by man of the match Matt Cundy, Village doubled their advantage with a Tom Fletcher volley and although Ball keeper Adam Martin was doing his best to keep his side in the game, he could do nothing to stop Campbell completing his hat-trick.

Chris James celebrated his return to Handsworth Old Boys with two goals in their win over Ranch. James netted his first from the penalty spot to give Handsworth a half time lead and he doubled their advantage after the break. Adam Hadfield had gone close to scoring for the visitors and they had an even better chance when Oliver Whittaker was brought down in the area, but he saw his spot kick saved and Jack Hall headed a third for Handsworth before Damon Blakemore added a fourth.

DIV 2 - Walker double keeps Cobden's View from the top, while Blades hit back to tame PLA - Cobden View stayed top of Division Two as two Mike Walker goals helped them to victory over Sharrow Vale. Jordan Jones and David Hunt also scored in the first half before a Mark Salter cross was tuned into his own net by a Ivan Merrill. Hunt crossed for Karl Scanlan to make it 6-0, but Vale regained some pride when Merrill made up for his own goal with one at the right end before Tom Wray raced away to hit their second.

After a goalless first half, a Jamie Marshall double helped Norton Oaks stay second with victory over Crookes & District. Rich Gillam set them both up for Marshall before he added himself to the scoresheet after he was set up by Steve Reynolds. Despite Andy Hodkin’s man of the match performance for the home side, Fox & Hounds also won 3-0 at Chapeltown RBL, with centre half Gary West scoring two of them and Chris Hunt the other.

Doubles by man of the match James Lawton (left) and sub Ben Sargeant saw Anston Athletic come from behind to win at Miners Arms and go third. Lawton rounded the keeper to give Anston the lead, but a thirty yard shot by Daniel Saif saw Miners level, before they took the lead with a Jake Grimstone strike. James Saxelby beat two players before scoring to bring the scores level at half time and it was Anston that dominated the second half. Sargeant gave them the lead before doubling it when he converted Alex mason’s cross and they were quickly followed by Lawton’s second after Gary Sidebottom had closed down the keepers clearance.

Junior Blades looked down and out at half time at Players Lounge Athletic, but they staged the comeback of the day to win 4-2. Michael Pearce’s twenty yard strike and Danny Clinton’s twentieth goal of the season set up by Dale Watts’ surging run gave Players Lounge a two goal lead at the break, but the second half saw a complete turnround. Chris Sharp pulled the first back before Jake Schofield levelled with a shot that deceived the keeper. The Blades were now rampant and George Rudd ignored the appeals for offside to put them ahead, before Adam Whittaker curled a fourth round the keeper.

JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP - Dan's the Commander for Phoenix, while Villa also through - In the Sunday Junior Cup, Division Two Phoenix fell behind at Whiston, but levelled before half time with a Josh Aston strike. After the break, Phoenix took charge with a Dan Commander double and held on after Whiston had pulled one of the back. They are joined in the last sixteen by Hemsworth Villa after they survived a late rally by their previously unbeaten visitors Cask Corner. Lee Webber had struck a post and had one cleared off the line before Russ Westby put Villa ahead from the penalty spot after Andy Hibberd had been brought down. Matt Scothorn doubled Villa’s lead with a volley and Hibberd headed a third from a Westby corner. Cask Corner pulled one back before the break and scored again in the second half, but Villa held on to go through. ction from the game is below. Loxley went out at a very impressive Royal Albert and Bradwell Skips also went out at Pewter Pot.

SENIOR SUNDAY CUP - So close for Redmires, but all three go out - In the Sunday Senior Cup, Redmires looked like they might cause a real upset when Dave Knaggs and a Nick Hickson header gave them a two goal lead against the Meadowhall’s Handsworth Turf Tavern, but the visitors fought back to force extra time and then looked on their way to a comfortable win when they scored two more. Redmires somehow found the strength to hit back and Hickson’s second followed by a Rob Solasole strike drew them level, but due to illness in the squad they had had to play the game with just a bare eleven and when Tavern went ahead again they had ran out of steam.

Civil Service fell behind at JSS Pot when keeper Karl Whitby made a rare error and they just couldn’t seem to get started until their hosts doubled their lead on the hour mark. From then on though it was Service that dictated the play, with Tom Stubbs dominating midfield and fellow sub Wes Bamford terrorising the Pot defence. Bamford pulled one back and Danny Wattam almost levelled with a bicycle kick, but it came back off the bar. As Service pushed more men forward in search of the equaliser, the more they were likely they were to be caught on the break and Pot finished them off with their third near the end. Despite a John Kentzer goal, Bulls Head also went out at Woodman Inn Swinton.

14 Nov - Referees for Sunday 18 November - The referees for Sunday 18 November are now listed in the Fixtures section. Home teams must contact them immediately to confirm the details - please let Keith know if any problems.

11 Nov - League teams pay their respects - The League's teams paid their respects to the fallen of the conflicts over the years - pictured is Hemsworth Villa and Woodhouse Angel with referee Paul Rodgers.

11 Nov - MACRON CUP - Bull caught in The Park - Spurred on by an early Daniel Robinson goal, last season's beaten finalists The Park continued with the round of Macron Cup shocks by putting out CBC Premier title contenders Bulls Head. The open came after ten minutes when Scott Dunkerley crossed for Robinson to score and just ten minutes later the lead was doubled when Calvin Thomas scrambled the ball home. Bulls Head almost pulled one back before the break when Joe Keighley fired just wide, but they couldn’t make any real impression on The Park’s defence and it was the Division One side that went through to the quarter finals where they will meet CBC Premier leaders Stannington Village.

CBC PREMIER - Stannington love-Lee to stay top, while Turf's climb is spot-on -

Stannington maintained their place at the top with a 3-0 victory at a Southey Social that started the day in second place. Stannington a Lee Johnstone’s (right) in-swinging free kick eluded everyone to give Stannington a first half lead, but their was nothing fortunate about his second as his twenty five yard volley fairly rocketed in off the bar. Southey gave it their all, but they couldn’t break through the visitors defence and Stannington made the result safe when Barry Middlemass curled in a left foot shot.

Civil Service are up to second after an Adam Firth (left) double helped them to a narrow victory at Queens Ground. Firth netted his first with a free kick, but instead of spurring the champions on to a big victory, it was Queens that displayed the greater desire and Gareth Hague hit a deserved equaliser before half time. Service upped their game after the break and eventually Firth bravely risked a clattering by just beating the keeper to the ball to net the winner.

Two Chisango Nshindano (right) penalties gave Handsworth Turf victory over Pitsmoor Royal Oak and out of the bottom three. Handsworth isn’t a happy hunting ground for Oak and after having their own penalty appeal turned down, they found themselves behind at the break after James Thew gave a penalty away and ‘Tangy’ as he his known slammed home the first of his penalties. After the break two Andy Fairbrother saves from Matt Lambert headers kept Oak in the game, but when Dwayne Wood brought ‘Tangy’ down in the area it was game over as ‘Tangy’ scored from the spot a second time.

It was doubles all round as Stocksbridge Park Steels thrashed an under strength The Vine Scott Birch scored the first of his two to open the scoring and Adam Todd headed the first of his two from a Mitchell Savage cross. After Birch’s second, Jack Outhwaite grabbed his Brace before Todd finished the scoring.

DIV 1 - Angel on course as they end Villa record, while Colley & Oughtibridge share 10 goals  -

In Division One’s big game, Dave Kippax (left) got the leaders Woodhouse Angel off to a quick start when he scored after two minutes at a previously unbeaten Hemsworth Villa. Despite Angel hitting a post they didn’t increase that lead until ten minutes after the break when Matt Parks produced a brilliant solo run and finish. Villa tried hard to get back into the game and forced nine corners in the second half, but all they had to show for it was a Mark Hopkinson goal with virtually the final kick of the game. Action from the game is shown below.

The place to be for goals was at Colley as they came from two down three times to share ten of them with Oughtibridge Village. Chris Roberts gave Colley an early lead, but goalkeeping errors helped Tom Fletcher, Justin Westoby and Shaun Lee to give Oughtibridge a 3-1 lead at half time. Colley switched keepers at the break and they immediately pulled one back through Matt Meaney (right), but Lee’s second restored the visitors two goal lead. Although John Williams again pulled one back, the points looked destined for Oughtibridge when Tom Redmond scored their fifth, but Colley fought back again with Meaney’s second and the deservedly took a share of points with a Josh Connor strike.

There was also more than a spot of action at Ranch as Handsworth Old Boys just pipped the home side in a game of four penalties. After Handsworth had missed an early penalty, Greg Burgin scored when they were awarded a second one, but when Oliver Whittaker was brought down it was Ranch’s turn to get a penalty and Whittaker picked himself up to level the scores. The second half saw Tom Hartley finish a great solo run to put Ranch ahead, but another penalty allowed Handsworth to level before a Joe Walker strike saw them take the points.

It was a different story at Old Blue Ball as a single Oliver Matthewson strike proved enough for Old Blue Ball to beat Niagara, but Bradwell Skips visit to Hollin Bush ended prematurely after an injury to Bradwell’s James Stone meant the game had to be abandoned.

DIV 2 - Cobden have view from the top, while Shaw treble raises Phoenix - Mark Hoyle maintained his outstanding form for Cobden View as they came from behind to win at Fox & Hounds and stay top of Division Two. Lee Roome headed Fox in front, but View levelled before the break when Andy Jakubowski crossed for Hoyle to tap home. The second half saw View take the lead when a Hoyle cross was turned into his own net by a defender and they made the points safe when Dave Beckett finished after a corner was headed out to him.

Brinsworth Whitehill lost second spot as two Anthony Marshall goals helped Loxley to victory over them. Man of the match Steve Mayfield gave Loxley a half time lead when he converted Karl Taylor’s long throw and after the break Marshall, after missing three good chances, finally found the net after John Denton and Tom Storey combined to carve out the opening. Loxley’s victory was sealed when Tim Pitt’s run opened up the Brinsworth defence for Marshall to score his second.

After twice falling behind an Antony Holmes (left) double helped Players Lounge Athletic to victory over Miners Arms. After Jake Grimstone had given Miners the lead, Holmes beat four men to level by the break, but Ben Taylor put Miners back in front. Danny Parker crossed for Alex Evison to head Players level a second time and Holmes then added his second to put them in front. Danny Marcus then extended Players lead before Billy Todner pulled one back for Miners, but Players regained their two goal lead when Danny Clinton fastened onto Holmes long ball and twisted and turned before scoring. Miners had another chance to pull one back when they were awarded a penalty, but Players Lounge’s man of the match Aaron Parker saved the spot kick.

Nicky Shaw scored a hat-trick for the second week in succession to help Phoenix to victory at Sharrow Vale. Two down at the interval, the bottom side Vale showed great spirit and deservedly pulled on back through Ivan Merrill, but Shaw’s third and one from Dan Commander gave Phoenix a 4-1 victory.

Man of the match Greg McLennan (right) put Crookes & District on the way to victory against Junior Blades to gain some revenge for their defeat by the Blades in the Merit Cup Final at the start of the season. The Blades levelled when a corner was headed down by Danny Law and Jake Schofield stabbed the ball home, but goals from Chris Cottyn and Dominic Welbourn had Crookes 3-1 in front by the break. A set piece was flicked on by James Allen for Andrew Pearson to pull one back for the Blades, but Crookes finally settled it when Mike Dobson crossed for Cottyn to head his second.

Also, in Division One, Aston Swallownest v Colley cannot be played due to the team Aston share with being drawn at home in the cup. In the CBC Premier, Southey Social v Ecclesfield Players Lounge has been provisionally arranged. The draw for games involving our teams is: SENIOR SUNDAY CUP: JSS Pot v Sheffield Civil Service; Redmires v Handsworth Turf Tavern; Woodman Inn Swinton v Bulls Head JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP: Hemsworth Villa v Cask Corner; Pewter Pot v Bradwell Skips; Royal Albert v Loxley; Whiston v Phoenix

4 Nov - MACRON CUP - MACRON CUP Quarter Final draw - The draw for the Macron Cup Quarter Finals sees giant killers Norton Oaks with a home tie against Division One Handsworth Old Boys. Handsworth Turf's reward for knocking out the cup holders is a home tie with another giant killer, Division One Woodhouse Angel, while Niagara's reward for their shock win at The Vine is a home tie with Ecclesfield Players Lounge. The final tie could be the tie of the round as former holders Stannington Village entertain either last season's finalists The Park or CBC Premier Bulls Head  Two ties will be played on 2 December and two on 9 Dec - the full draw is as follows:

MACRON CUP QUARTER FINALS: 2 Dec: Handsworth Turf v Woodhouse Angel; Stannington Village v The Park or Bulls Head 9 Dec: Niagara v Ecclesfield Players Lounge; Norton Oaks v Handsworth Old Boys

4 Nov - MACRON CUP - It's shocks all round as holders are Turfed out -

The Macron Cup saw plenty of shocks with the biggest being holders Civil Service's eleven match winning run in the competition being brought to an end by CBC Premier strugglers Handsworth Turf. Wes Bamford gave Service the perfect start, but they didn’t make the most of it and a mad ten minute spell saw Turf take control of the tie with four goals. Robert Pratt (left) curled in a free kick to level, before Matt Lambert and Mark Jones combined to create the opening for Kieron Gallagher to put Turf ahead.

Gallagher then returned the favour to Jones and the Service defence was left in disarray when Carl Bowler put Pratt through for him to lob the keeper for his second and Turf’s fourth. Service hit back after the break with sub Paul Billard dominating in midfield and they pulled one back when fellow sub Adam Firth scored with a free kick. Firth then grabbed his second, but despite attempt after attempt, the Turf defence, with keeper Jamie King outstanding held firm to put the holders out.

Another big shock was Division One Niagara's victory at last season’s semi finalists, CBC Premier The Vine, with Scott Wesney's (right) goal finally settling a nine goal thriller. Oliver Woodhead’s long range strike put the visitors ahead, but The Vine levelled with a Shaun Blythe penalty before Ricky Davidson put them ahead. Another penalty saw Simon Staniforth bring Niagara level and a Ben Dronfield strike saw them go into half time ahead. The Vine hit back again after the break and Dan Bateman set Will Blakeney up for the equaliser and when Blakeney crossed for Chris Hull to score it looked as if the home side would go on to win it, but Craig Foster brought Niagara level once again and they won it with Wesney’s strike.

Another Division One side to beat a CBC Premier side was Woodhouse Angel. Although Redmires were having plenty of the ball, Angel looked dangerous on the break and Liam Parnell gave Angel a half time lead. After the break Angel’s lead was doubled when Angel veteran Chris Towey headed home and Gareth Simons then looked to have scored a third until the post came to Redmires’ rescue. Redmires responded and pulled one back through Dave Knaggs, but a determined Angel defence held firm to get their win.

Division Two Norton Oaks's run continued as a Richard Gillam double put them on the way to victory over Division One Colley. Both of Gillams goals came as he got onto end of high balls that were flicked on, but Colley pulled themselves back inyo the game with a long range Adam White strike. It was to no avail though as Steve Reynolds set Jamie Marshall up for Oaks’ third soon after the break and Oaks made their progress certain with a Billy Ireland strike.

Another Division One side through is Handsworth Old Boys after they beat fellow Division One side Hemsworth Villa after extra time. That result hardly looked likely when Russ Westby set up goals for Lee Webber and the head of Peter Burgin and it would have been more had it not been for Handsworth keeper James Abramski. His efforts were rewarded in the second half as Handsworth hit back through Scott Abramski (pictured left, on the right, challenging Alex Yule for the ball) and Shane Rowlinson to take the game into extra time. Handsworth now firmly had the upper hand and another one each for Abramski and Rowlinson together with one for Dalton Kershaw saw them win 5-2. More action below.

It was a red-letter day for two Ecclesfield Players Lounge players with Ryan Keeney (first left) making his one hundredth appearance and Craig Senior (second left) scoring his two hundredth goal. It didn’t look as if it would be a day of celebration when Danny Lindley and Nicky Bond put fellow CBC Premier side Southey Social two up, but Senior crossed for Joe Knight to pull one back before Gavin Hunter burst through the Southey defence to equalise. After the break, Senior scored his landmark goal from the penalty spot after Hunter had been felled in the area and with Mitchell Robinson having his best game for his new club fellow new signing Scott Whittington grabbed a fourth to put Ecclesfield through.

The day’s other all-CBC Premier tie saw full back Jack Mylnek (right) inspire Stannington Village to a 4-1 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels. Steels struck first when Adam Todd rounded the keeper to score, but Lee Johnstone cancelled it out just before half time. The second half was a fairly even contest until Rob Shelley swivelled in the area to put Stannington ahead and with Steels pushing men forward in search of an equaliser, Stannington took advantage with Johnstone setting Ali Mitchell up for their third before Dean Jepson added a fourth..

CBC PREMIER - Gavin's four Pitsmoor - The day’s only CBC Premier game saw Gavin Davis (left) score all Pitsmoor Royal Oak's four goals to beat Queens Ground and move onto the fringe of the title race. After Davis had put Oak ahead, Stacy Sharif should have doubled it when Stacy Sharif missed from the penalty spot and his side looked to have paid a heavy price when Gavin Dunn equalised for Queens. The second half belonged to Davis though as he twice showed Sharif how to score from the penalty spot before hitting his fourth from Leon Stocks’ flick on, Queens never gave up though and Tom Bermingham scored a deserved second for them.

DIV 1 - Oughtibridge brush aside Aston and Ball also win - In Division One, Ryan Campbell and Lee Smith doubles helped Oughtibridge Village to a big win over Aston Swallownest. Lloyd Gulsthorpe briefly put Aston back into the game, but Oughtibridge ran riot with other goals from Tom Fletcher, Justin Westoby, Marcus Pass and Joe Appleyard, although a goal from Ian Draper left a final score of 8-2.

After a goalless first half, a terrific strike by Curtis Evans put Old Blue Ball ahead at home to Ranch and they extended that lead when Kevin Bly set Callum Chambers up for a tap-in. Chambers then took advantage of a mix-up in the Ranch defence to score his second, before Chris Hall grabbed a late consolation for Ranch. John Pedder was another to score twice to give Bradwell Skips a two goal half time lead at home to Hollin Bush, but the visitors hit back after the break and after Kav May had pulled one back, Lewis Barker grabbed a deserved equaliser for the visitors.

DIV 2 - Cobden get top Marks, while Vale break their duck at last - Mark Hoyle capped his man-of-the-match performance with a penalty to clinch Cobden View's victory over Brinsworth Whitehill that saw Cobden replace their visitors at the top of Division Two. Tom Lenhill gave Cobden a first half lead when his header went in off a post and after the break, sub Paddy Hopson headed their second after Hoyle’s shot came back off the bar. Victory and top spot was assured when Hoyle was brought down in the area and he picked himself up to score Cobden’s third.

Up to third is Anston Athletic after two James Saxelby goals helped them to victory at Junior Blades. Blades defender Martin Hearnshaw turned the ball into his own net to give Anston a half time lead, but the Blades should have levelled soon after the break when they were awarded a penalty for Jamie Marshall’s handball in the area, but Jake Schofield saw his spot kick saved by Adam Russell (right). After that Anston dominated the play and Saxelby deservedly added two more.

Two Mick Smith volleys set Loxley on the way to victory at Players Lounge Athletic, but it was far from easy for the visitors in what turned out to be a nine goal thriller. Two Danny Clinton strikes either side of a Danny Marcus goal had Players Lounge ahead by the interval and after Karl Taylor had levelled for Loxley, a deflected Danny Parker shot had Players Lounge back in front. Centre half and Loxley skipper Tim Pitt then decided to take matters into his own hands with a marauding run upfield that was only ended with a trip in the box. Pitt took the penalty himself and although keeper Carl Ledger got a hand to it he couldn’t stop Loxley drawing level. Lee Crabtree then made a terrific save to keep Loxley level before the unfortunate Dan Potts lobbed his own keeper to gift Loxley the three points.

Mike Dobson (left) also scored twice as Crookes & District gained revenge for last weekend's defeat by Miners Arms. After Carl Harris had given Miners the lead, Dobson’s first came on the stroke of half time and that put the impetus firmly in Crookes direction. A Chris Cottyn penalty put them ahead and that was soon followed by a Jonnie Butler strike and Dobson’s second, before Miners leading scorer Daniel McLean scored his sides second.

Sharrow Vale looked to be on their way to yet another defeat after a Liam Gibson double and one each for Jamie Duckworth and Matt Taylor had given Chapeltown RBL a 4-1 half time lead, but early in the second half Vale were given some hope when Paddy Young’s cross was turned into his own net by a Chapeltown defender. Vale were then awarded a penalty and although Tom Wray’s spot kick was saved by the keeper, Wray knocked home the rebound and when Young set up Ed Broadly he scored to earn Vale’s first point of the season.

SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP - Shaw gets perfect marks to ease past Academy - Division Two Phoenix went through to Round Four of the Sunday Junior Cup when they came out on top of a penalty shoot-out with Balby Academy of Sport. Nicky Shaw’s perfect hat-trick of right foot, left foot and a header together with a Danny Lewis strike meant the sides finished 4-4 after extra time, but after losing a two goal lead in extra time, Phoenix held their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out 5-4.
