27 Nov 2011 - CBC PREM - Stannington locked up by the Sharif, while old boy Joe haunts The Vine -  Stannington Village found themselves locked up by the Sharif as Stacy Sharif netted twice as Pitsmoor Royal Oak brought their unbeaten record to an end and The Vine also let points slip after leading at Handsworth Turf as their old boy Joe France scored twice to give Turf a share of the points. Leaders Civil Service made no mistake though as they demolished Ecclesfield Players Lounge and a Danny Lindley (pictured right)  treble helped Southey Social beat Hemsworth Villa, while a Sam Read double helped Laycock Sports to victory at Redmires.

Pitsmoor used the strong wind to their advantage in the first half and Leon Stocks quickly gave them the lead. That was doubled by a Craig Graham penalty following a handball in the area, before Sharif made it three before the break. Stannington now had the wind at their backs, but their hopes were effectively crushed in the first minute of the second half when Sharif netted his second. Stannington kept plugging away and John Saville eventually bundled home their first and Sean Flynn headed a second, but their record was gone.

The Vine started strongly at Handsworth Turf and after Danny Seaman had hit a post, Jamie Moore set Rikki Davidson up for their opener. Tom Moynahan then went close, but with centre back Carl Bowler a rock in the Turf defence, The Vine couldn’t add to it in the first half. After the break Adam Johnson, playing his first game for three years, started a move that was taken on by new signings Mark Jones and Gregg Taylor and his cross was dispatched into the net by Joe France (pictured left). The Vine went back in front when Craig Woolley won the ball and fed Moore for him to curl the ball into the top corner, but their old boy France met another Taylor cross to find the bottom corner and give Turf a share of the points.

That allowed Civil Service to increase their lead at the top of the CBC Premier to six points with an eight goal demolition of Ecclesfield Players Lounge. Adam Firth was the star, setting the first two up for Gareth Griffiths and Greg Dumpleton before scoring two himself. Danny Fowler added their fifth and John Charles a sixth before sub Paul Billard came on to score two more.

Almost as emphatic was Southey Social’s 6-0 victory over Hemsworth Villa. Danny Lindley was the star of this show and he started the scoring from Rob Womack’s pass. Todd Guest then set Gavin Pitts up for him to score with a cheeky back-heel and a John Mellor penalty made it three by half time. Guest set Lindley up for his second and Ben Nicholson added a fifth before Lindley completed his hat-trick from Simon Jebson’s pass. Action from the game is below - pictures by Mick Moat.

Laycock Sports were quick off the mark at Redmires with Nick Owen scoring after a mistake by the Karl Taylor in the Redmires goal. Sam Read added a second after just eight minutes, but after that it was Redmires that dominated play, hitting the woodwork three times. They were hit on the break though as Read picked the ball up on the edge of his own area before racing away to leave a static defence in his wake and score his second. Redmires did eventually pull one back through Dave Knaggs, but it wasn’t enough to change the game.

DIV 1 - Loxley burned by Ash, while Colley hit back to stun Throstles -  In Division One Nick Ash (pictured left) was on fire as he hit three in leaders Bulls Head’s 5-0 victory at Loxley. In the first half Geoff Mayfield went close for Loxley and with his brother Steve a real barrier in the first half, Bulls Head only chance was missed by Alan Mowforth. The second half was a different story though with Ash quickly netting twice before Mowforth made up for his miss. Ash completed his hat-trick and Tom Cocker started and finished a move to rubber stamp Bull’s win.

Fairbank-Rhodes kept pace with them though with victory over Woodhouse Angel. A mistake by the Angel keeper allowed Hilton Stratford-Smith to open the scoring for Fairbank, but the bottom club gave their hosts a shock when Matt Parks his a great strike to level before half time. The second half belonged to Fairbank though and after Joe Knight tapped home to put them back in front, Scott Whittington’s angled drive made the victory certain.

Queens Ground went third with a narrow win over Niagara as Aston Swallownest slipped up at home to Ranch. Tom Bermingham curled one into the top corner to give Queens the lead and John Iredale scored a second before half time. Niagara got back into the game in the second half and pulled one back when Matt Edwards tapped home, but Danny Bainbridge and Danny Cooper were both denied an equaliser by the woodwork and Queens held on.

Ranch started with the wind at their backs at Aston Swallownest and soon took the lead when Richard Berry sent Tauren Fogarty away to round the keeper and a defender to score and a minute before the break they added a second when Berry put Tom Hartley through. Ranch grabbed a vital third virtually straight from the restart when Richard Honeyman scored for a second week running and they needed it as Aston hit back to score twice with a Josh Bell header and an Ian Draper shot. Ranch’s Carl Pearce and Adam Hadfield were determined not to let their lead slip altogether though and with keeper Mark Broadhurst confidently handling anything that came his way they held on.

A Dan Ferguson double helped Colley come from two down to beat Throstles for their first points at their new Chaucer School home. A first minute penalty was dispatched by Nick Curtis to give Throstles the lead and Paul Hollister added their second after half an hour, but Ian Sharland scored before half time to put Colley back into the game and the second half wasn’t too old when Neil Whitworth equalised for Colley. Daniel Lloyd then fired Colley into the lead and those first home points were secured by two Dan Ferguson strikes.

Brinsworth Whitehill must half thought their miserable run was coming to an end when Scott Hinchcliffe gave them the lead at home to Anston Athletic with just four minutes remaining, but Anston took drastic action by taking Adam Russell out of goal and pushing him up front and the move paid off when he netted the equaliser from close range. Anston then grabbed all three points in the final minute when they broke quickly for Adam Mason to score the winner.

DIV 2 - Ball bounce back to keep record, while a Townsend double sends The Park back on top -  In Division Two, Old Blue Ball came from two goals down to win at Hollin Bush and become the only side in the league to remain unbeaten. After both Owen Clarke and Simon Major had been brought down in the area, two Tom Hall penalties had given Hollin Bush a two goal lead, but the second half belonged to Ball and another penalty saw Christian Rowe (pictured right - picture by Graeme Benson) pull one back and his second and two from Callum Chambers saw them take all three points and preserve their record. More action from the game is below, with all pictures by Graeme Benson.

A Mark Townsend double helped The Park to victory over Highfield Old Crown and back to top. Ricardo Stewart headed The Park into the lead before Townsend thumped home a free kick. Townsend then added his second before Daniel Stanton volleyed home for Crown, but The Park’s lead was never threatened in the second half and they added a fourth through Tony Gurnhill.

Third place Junior Blades kept their challenge going with a 3-1 victory over Old Harrow Grenoside. Jake Schofield gave the Blades a first half lead and Drew Pearson scored from the penalty spot to double it after the break. Old Harrow had missed many chances during the first half and they eventually pulled one back through Pat Lynch, but Adam Caywood secured the points with the Blades third.

Lee Bridges hit three as Oughtibridge Village thumped Chapeltown RBL 7-2 to renew their challenge. New man David Sheaky opened the scoring for Village and a Marcus Pass penalty doubled their lead. Matt Taylor pulled one back for Chapeltown, but there was no stopping Oughtibridge and along with Bridges’ treble, Lee Smith and Ian Phillips also found the net. Chapeltown’s man-of-the-match Dan Lazenby hit a second for them, but they were no match for their visitors on the day.

After David Primhak finished off a well worked free kick and Tom Wray scored a well taken second to give visitors Sharrow Vale a two goal lead, Colley WMC also came from two down to keep their good run going. Richard Firth and Scott Harrison drew them level before Steve Davis and Chris Hunt goals gave Colley all three points

An Anthony Holmes double helped Players Lounge Athletic to their first away win at Crookes & District. David Ibbotson crossed for Simon Marcus to head Players Lounge in front and an Aaron Parker solo effort soon doubled it. Holmes tapped home his first before the break, before Marcus’s free kick gave him the chance to head his second after the break to complete the scoring (see picture left). Johnnie Butler did his best to get something out of the game for Crookes but it wasn’t their day. More action from the game is below - with the first three photos being the first three goals:

20 Nov 2011 - SENIOR SUNDAY CUP - Mellor & Jebson are a red rag to Bull, while Forman bosses Saints -  A John Mellor (pictured 1st left) treble and two from Simon Jebson saw Southey Social progress to the last 16 with a 5-3 victory over Black Bull Shepley, while a Dean Forman (pictured 2nd left) strike did the same for Pitsmoor Royal Oak against a previously unbeaten St Josephs. Despite taking the lead, Stannington Village went out at home 2-1 to Brinsworth Whitehill.

After falling behind, Danny Lindley and John Mellor combined for Simon Jebson to hit Southey Social’s equaliser. Lindley then set Mellor up to put Southey in front by half time and Mellor added his second after the break. Jebson the found the top corner to put Southey in charge, but Bull had them sweating when they pulled it back to 4-3 until a quick break allowed Mellor to complete his hat-trick.

Leon Stocks twice shot over the bar in the first half and Luke Parwana did the same after ‘Chesney’ Bagshaw had set him up. With St Joseph’s limited to long range efforts, Pitsmoor pressed forward and both Scott Spzajer and Rob Shelley both had chances saved before Forman showed them who’s boss by hitting the winner. It looked like Stannington Village might join them when Jon Wall’s cross was headed home by Dean Jepson, but Brinsworth Whitehill levelled in the first half and won it with a second early in the second half.

JUNIOR SUNDAY CUP - Ronksley treble sees Queens rule as five out of six go through -  James Ronksley hit a hat-trick as Queens Ground progressed to the last 32 with an 8-0 thrashing of Royal Albert from Barnsley. A single Richard Honeyman (pictured far right) goal gave Ranch victory at Meadowhall side Hackenthorpe Villa and a Danny Bainbridge (1st right) double helped Niagara put out another Meadowhall side Rawson Spring. Callum Chambers hit two as Old Blue Ball beat Harthill Blue Ball and Matt Dickinson also scored twice in Hollin Bush's win at Thorpe Hesley Village, but Oughtibridge Village went out at Wincobank Forum.

The most impressive win was Queens Ground’s 8-0 thrashing of Barnsley’s Royal Albert. James Ronksley hit three of them, Matt Law two, while the others came from Josh Bermingham, Ada Tomlin and a thirty yard special from John Iredale.

Niagara’s visit to Meadowhall side Rawson Spring was expected to be one of the ties of the round and it didn’t disappoint. Chris Smith set up Danny Bainbridge for Niagara’s opener, but the home side levelled before half time. After the break, Daniel Cooper was felled in the area and he picked himself up to score the penalty and a Bainbridge solo increased Niagara’s lead, which proved enough despite a second from Rawson Spring.

During a goalless first half at another Meadowhall side, Hackenthorpe Villa, Tom Hartley had Ranch’s best chance and after the break Richard Berry had an effort cleared off the line, but Ranch eventually won it when right back Richard Honeyman played a one-two before volleying home. After Robert Hariss had given Division Two Old Blue Ball the lead just before half time, they were pegged back by visitors Harthill Blue Ball early in the second half, but with Ricky Green bossing midfield and John Heritage a rock at the back, two Callum Chambers strikes put Ball in charge before Marcus Omalley added a fourth.

Another of our Division Two sides, Hollin Bush, soon found themselves two behind at Thorpe Hesley Village, but a Cole Starkes penalty put Bush back into the game and Matt Dickinson levelled after a short corner routine. Alan Lam then scored from the edge of the area to put Bush in front, but Village soon levelled. Dickinson again put Bush in front and although Village again levelled, Bush finally won it when Owen Clarke found himself one-on-one with the leeper before scoring.  After trailing at half time it looked as if Oughtibridge Village would also go through when a Marcus Pass penalty and a Strachan Sansom strike put them ahead, but their hosts fought back and despite being reduced to ten men they won it in the final minute.

CBC PREM - Read all about Sam, while Service Stubbs out Villa -  Sam Read (picture left) hit a hat-trick as Laycock Sports climbed to fourth with victory over Handsworth Turf and a Rikki Davidson double helped The Vine up to second with victory over Redmires, but Civil Service maintained their lead at the top as a Tom Stubbs double helped them to victory over Hemsworth Villa.

Read headed his first and Nick Owen struck to put Laycock’s two up at the break and Read quickly added two more in the second half. Handsworth were having plenty of the game though and Laycock’s keeper Chris Gill was a candidate for their man of the match, but even he couldn’t stop Joe France pulling one back. Laycocks quickly responded though and Brett Douglas curled home a fifth before Owen hit his second of the game.

Nick Hickson scored from close range to give Redmires a half time lead at The Vine, but the home side levelled when Chris Shirtcliffe’s long throw was adjudged to have been handled in the area and Rikki Davidson rifled home the penalty. Andrew Marsh then won the ball on the half-way line before beating two men and setting Davidson up for his second, but Shaun Downing crossed for Dave Knaggs to level for Redmires. Both had chances, but a winner eventually went The Vine’s way when Danny Seaman’s corner eluded everyone and found the net.

Despite going behind to Luke Marshall’s angled shot (pictured first left), Civil Service stayed top. Connor Bamford made the most of his first start for Service by levelling before the break and Tom Stubbs put them in front in the second half. Villa’s cause wasn’t helped when Connor Bell hade to give way to injury and Danny Fowler netted a third for Service from the penalty spot after a handball in the area. Marcus Jepson hit the bar as Villa tried to get back into it, but man-of-the-match Stubbs made the result safe with his second of the game. More action from the game is below, including Danny Fowler (hidden) send keeper Shane Rowley the wrong way from the penalty spot and referee Paul Rodgers in the thick of the action.

DIV 1 - Draper and Marshall are up four it -  Ian Draper hit four as Aston Swallownest went third with victory at Throstles and Anthony Marshall (pictured right) also hit four as Loxley came from behind to win at Woodhouse Angel. Fairbank-Rhodes had a narrow win over Brinsworth Whitehill, while Colley's seven match run without a win was ended as a late Adam White goal gave them victory at Anston Athletic.

Ian Draper's four was added to by two from David Sills, while Nathan Warren hit Aston's other in a game they dominated despite Liam Bonnick’s two goals for an injury hit Throstles. In second place is Fairbank-Rhodes after a narrow win over Brinsworth Whitehill, Scott Whittington beat his marker to put Fairbank ahead after just ten minutes, but they had to wait until the second half for Joe Knight to poke home their second. It was still Brinsworth’s best performance for a while though and they pulled one back through Matthew Holden in a match well refereed by Phil Jones.

Colley's seven match run without a win was ended as a late Adam White goal gave them victory at Anston Athletic. They made hard work of it though as Neil Whitworth saw his penalty brilliantly saved by Adam Russell in the Anston goal (pictured left below) and Russell denied him a further twice before White grabbed his late winner. More action from the game below.

Another to hit four was Anthony Marshall as Loxley came from behind to win 4-1 at Woodhouse Angel. Dan Richards had given Angel a first half lead, but after missing a couple of chances in the first half, Marshall made amends in the second half. Lee Struggles set him up for his first and Marshall went on a solo run for his second. John Denton set upo his third before he lobbed the keeper for his fourth, but it still wasn’t enough to earn him the man-of-the-match award as that went to Lewis Armstrong on his first appearance as skipper.

DIV 2 - Schofield double means Blades are too sharp for The Park and Old Boys go top -  A Jake Schofield double helped Junior Blades end The Park's unbeaten record and knock them off the top spot. Schofield’s mazy run was ended by a trip in the area and Schofield picked himself up to score the penalty and Richard Pearson set him up for his second five minutes later. Schofield then crossed for Alex Raybould to give the Blades a three goal half time lead and although Ricardo Stewart and Adam Battle pulled two back for The Park in the second half, their unbeaten record and top spot were gone.

Handsworth Old Boys took it from them as a Shane Rowlinson double helped them to victory over Crookes & District. Chris James had added a third before Greg McLennan pulled on back, but Tom Houghton and Liam Parnell strikes meant that Johnnie Butler’s second for Crookes was just a consolation.

Jordan Broadbent and Lee Wasden’s tap-in gave Old Harrow Grenoside a two goal lead over Sharrow Vale and although David Primhak and Andrew Foster both scored for Sharrow, Old Harrow won it with Broadbent’s second of the game to lift his side off the foot of the table.

Chapeltown RBL climbed out of the bottom three with victory at Players Lounge Athletic. Sam Walsh, Robert Portman and Brett Simms goals had Chapeltown three up after just ten minutes and although Alex Evision pulled two back before half time it was the end of the scoring. Highfield Old Crown kept their first clean sheet of the season when they held Colley WMC to a goalless draw.

18 Nov 2011 - DIV 1 - Super sub Kerry keeps Bull clear -  After falling behind to a Joe Lawson goal, Division One leaders needed a double from super sub Kerry Dixon to take the points and go five points clear at the top. Lawson put Throstles ahead against the run of play, but it looked as if it might be enough until Bull manager Paul Baxter-Gibson decided to send Kerry Dixon into the fray and he repaid his manager by getting onto the end of two Gregg Broomhead crosses to win the game for Bull.

17 Nov 2011 - CBC Premier Fixture changes for 27 November -  To avoid Redmires and The Vine having to play each other on three consecutive weeks, two CBC Premier fixtures have been changed on 27 Nov. Handsworth Turf will now entertain The Vine and Redmires will now entertain Laycock Sports.

13 Nov 2011 - The League's teams pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday -  The League's teams paid their respects to the fallen all over the world on Remembrance Sunday. Pictured is Hemsworth Villa and Stocksbridge Park Steels with referee Roger Evans.

13 Nov 2011 - CBC PREM - Griffiths strike ends The Vine's run, while new look Steels hit Villa for six -  Civil Service opened up a three point gap at the top of the CBC Premier when a first half Gareth Griffiths (pictured right) strike proved enough to end The Vine’s perfect record, while Stannington Village dropped their first points of the season at Redmires.

The Vine had not conceded an away goal and looked on course to keep that record as they were having the better of a first half that saw them hit the post twice and have a Shaun Blythe effort disallowed, but against the run of play Adam Firth’s shot proved too hot to hold for The Vine keeper and Griffiths pounced to score. Service had more of the play after the break and looked solid at the back, although Danny Seaman hit a post for a second time and Tom Moynahan went close with a header.

It proved to be a very good day for Service as Stannington Village also dropped their first points and only a late Josh Coulson strike saved them from defeat at Redmires. After taking an early lead when Tom Donlan’s cross was turned into his own net by Luke Siggs, Stannington were pegged back as Nick Hickson headed home a Dave Knaggs corner and they might look upon it as a point gained rather than two lost as they were then reduced to ten men after Jack Mylnek saw red for a mis-timed tackle on Mikey Taylor when he through on goal.

The resulting penalty was brilliantly saved by Nathan Ryan, but he was beaten soon afterwards by Hickson’s second of the game. Although Jon Wall bent an equaliser into the top corner, Village’s unbeaten record looked as if it would go when David Booth put Redmires in front again, but they rescued a point when Josh Coulson fired through a crowd of players to beat the unsighted keeper.

Southey Social lost ground when they surrended their perfect home record to a Laycock Sports unbeaten in the League since the opening day of the season. It looked good for Southey when Ben Nicholson put them ahead on the stroke of half time, but Laycocks quickly penned them back after the break and two Nick Owen strikes along with one from Sam Read put them on the way to victory despite John Mellor pulling one back from the penalty spot.

Adam Todd hit a hat-trick as Stocksbridge Park Steels new look side climbed out of the bottom three with a six goal blitz at Hemsworth Villa. John Ward crossed for Nick Ward to head Steels in front and after Todd had netted his first Nick Ward added his second. Pete Burgin crossed for Alex Yule to pull one back before the break and if Villa had taken their chances in the second half the result might have been very different, but keeper Steven Marshall was on top form for Steels and they showed their hosts how to finish with further two more from Todd and one from Kevin Davies.

When a set piece wasn’t dealt with, Matt Clarke scrambled home an opener for Ecclesfield Players Lounge at Pitsmoor Royal Oak, but Ecclesfield suffered a blow before half time when keeper Scott Touhey had to go off injured after making a brave save at Stacy Sharif’s feet. Oak introduced Gavin Davis for his return to the side at half time and he had an immediate impact when he swivelled to grab the equaliser. He was then denied a second by a terrific save by stand-in keeper Paul Bashforth, but when Sharif was brought down in the area Craig Graham stepped up to give Bashforth no chance. Ecclesfield had to dig deep and when man-of-the-match Danny Touhey was felled in the area by Ryan Dyson, Ryan Keeney rescued a point from the penalty spot.

Division One leaders Bulls Head were quick off the mark at Niagara with John Ward, a Nick Ash header and Chris Peel giving them a three goal half time lead. Alan Mowforth crossed for Rob Dawber to head a fourth after the break and Niagara’s only reply was a Daniel Cooper.

After falling behind to Ian Draper’s eleventh goal of the season for Aston Swallownest, second place Fairbank-Rhodes hit back to level when Joe Walker’s free kick was headed home by Mark Barnsley. Shaun Dobly began to pull the strings in midfield for Fairbank, but it looked like they would have to settle for a point until Andy Baxter created space for Joe Knight to hit a last minute winner

James Ronkesley and Josh Bermingham both hit doubles as Queens Ground overwhelmed Woodhouse Angel 8-1. Queens others came from David Hook, Nat Foster, Ada Tomlin and a Jamie Cherry penalty, while Angel’s reply came from Chris Towey

After Mark Broadhurst’s remarkable first half save onto the bar and over kept the scores level, Ranch put a dent into Throstles promotion hopes while boosting their own chances as two Richard Berry headers, both set up by Breon Fogarty in the second half gave Ranch a 2-0 victory.

Another double from Danny Nelson helped Anston Athletic come from behind to win at Colley. When a flowing move was halted unfairly outside the box, Nelson stepped up to his free kick past the wall and the keeper to give Anston a first half lead they kept thanks to a great save by stand-in keeper Adam Russell, but Daniel Lloyd and Adam White strikes put Colley ahead in the second half. Anston drew level through James Saxelby and after another good stop by Russell kept Colley out, Nelson ran at the Colley defence to win the game with a quality finish.

Although they had scored three four times already this season, Loxley were still looking for their first win of the season, but when they bagged three at Brinsworth Whitehill it finally proved enough. Tom Crofts played the ball for the on-running Steve Kelly to give Loxley a first half lead, but soon after the break Ash Smith struck an equaliser for the home side. Kelly then linked up with Anthony Marshall to allow Geoff Mayfield to put Loxley back into the lead with a powerful finish, but they were pegged back yet again by Smith. Steve Mayfield then missed such an easy chance he meant he was appointed the Loxley’s kit washer for the week, but Loxley finally grabbed a winner when man-of-the-match Marshall scored for a third game in a row.

Division Two leaders The Park had six different scorers in their victory at Crookes & District. Scott Dunkerley crossed for Calvin Thomas to give The Park the lead and although David Fernley soon levelled for Crookes, David Nash’s long range effort had The Park back in front within a minute. Nash crossed for Ricardo Stewart to increase their lead just before half time and after the break, a Tony Gurnhill solo goal put them firmly in charge. Full back Ryan Marshall added a fifth before Callum Harrison marked his debut with the sixth.

Chris James hit a treble as second placed Handsworth Old Boys thrashed Highfield Old Crown 8-1. Liam Parnell and Phil Nshindano both grabbed doubles and Greg Burgin the other while the outclassed Crown’s goal came from an Eddie MacErlain penalty.

Third place Junior Blades lost ground though when they suffered defeat at Hollin Bush. Simon Major cut the ball back for Tom Hall to drill Bush’s opener, but they were pegged back when Jake Schofield’s shot hit a post before a defender turned the rebound into his own goal. Bush always looked the more likely winners though and it came when Stuart McGregor headed back for Major to score. Referee Gemma Gale again received praise from the teams for her performance.

Colley WMC continued their improvement with a victory over Players Lounge Athletic built on two goals from Daniel Wilkinson. Scott Marcus pulled one back for Athletic after the break but a Paul Dawson strike settled the issue for Colley.

11 Nov 2011 - DIV 2- Ibbotson stays calm to grab a point for Players Lounge -  After Dan Potts had missed two sitters in the first half, Players Lounge Athletic fell behind when Stuart Underwood lobbed the keeper to score for Highfield Old Crown, but Athletic hit back almost immediately as man-of-the-match David Ibbotson calmly stroked home from Aaron Parker's flick on.

11 Nov 2011 - Referees for Sunday 20 Nov now shown in Latest Fixtures -  Will home clubs please contact your referees straight away to confirm the games.

11 Nov 2011 - Yew Tree merger with Stocksbridge Park Steels -  Yew Tree has folded, but are staying with the League as all their players and staff are joining Stocksbridge Park Steels. The merged side will continue to be called Stocksbridge Park Steels, but they will play at Yew Tree's home ground of Aurora Sports on Bawtry Road. The former Yew Tree secretary Dave Brearley (pictured left) has decided to hang his pen up after about ten years of dedicated service to the club, during which time he was an integral part of the club's rise through the divisions to become established in the CBC Premier and winners the Macron Cup at Bramall Lane in 2010. All Yew Tree's results for this season have been removed from the records and League tables etc amended accordingly.

8 Nov 2011 - MACRON CUP - New date required for Pitsmoor tie as pitch not available on 4 Dec -  A new date is needed for the Pitsmoor Royal Oak v Old Harrow Grenoside tie as Oak's pitch is not available on that day. A new date will be arranged by the League.

6 Nov 2011 - MACRON CUP - Old Harrow's reward is a trip to Pitsmoor, while Redmires visit The Vine -  Giant killers Old Harrow Grenoside's reward is a quarter final visit to CBC Premier Pitsmoor Royal Oak, while the only all-CBC Premier Division tie sees Redmires visit current leaders The Vine. Holders Civil Service entertain Division Two Oughtibridge Village and the third Division Two side remaining, The Park, also have CBC Premier opponents when they visit Hemsworth Villa. The Quarter Final draw is: Civil Service v Oughtibridge Village; Hemsworth Villa v The Park; Pitsmoor Royal Oak v Old Harrow Grenoside; The Vine v Redmires. All ties scheduled to play on Sunday 4 Dec* (*except see above) depending on pitch availability. All the home teams should book their pitch for that date immediately. They should let Keith know if there is any problems doing this.

6 Nov 2011 - MACRON CUP - Good Old Harrow, while holders Wild about Lee and Jepson makes an instant Marc -  Division Two Old Harrow Grenoside’s victory over Division One Brinsworth Whitehill was the Macron Cup’s only giant killing last weekend, but there was a couple of other unexpected results as holders Civil Service ended Stannington Village’s perfect record for the season and Hemsworth Villa put their disappointing league form behind them to win at Laycock Sports.

Gareth Morley, Jordan Broadbent and Lee Wasden goals gave Old Harrow their victory and with Brinsworth Whitehill’s only response being a Russell Sheridan strike, it was enough to give Old Harrow a place in the quarter finals for the first time.

Old Harrow are joined in the last eight by two more Division Two sides, Oughtibridge Village and The Park after they beat fellow Division Two opposition. Oughtibridge fell behind at Hollin Bush when the keeper couldn’t hold Owen Clarke’s shot and Simon Major picked up the pieces. The visitors quickly rallied though and man-of-the-match Matt Cundy rattled in an equaliser before Lee Smith put them ahead before the break. Smith added his second in the second half to clinch his side’s progress.

The Park had a tough looking tie at an Old Blue Ball that had yet to taste defeat in any competition and urged on by a large crowd, the two sides went at it hammer and tongue. Referee Dennis Hogg helped to keep the match flowing, but it took until the second half for the tie to be decided when the Ball keeper could only parry a shot to Calvin Thomas and he put home the rebound.

A narrow victory had seen Stannington Village end Civil Service’s unbeaten record week before, so when they met for a second time in eight days it was always going to be a very close affair and the closest either side got in the first half was a Josh Coulson shot brilliantly turned away by keeper Carl Whitby. With Ben Sanderson and John Charles commanding at the back and Gareth Griffiths outstanding in midfield, Service were working their socks off to keep a grip on the trophy they won at Bramall Lane last season and a great team performance got it’s reward when Lee Wild hit the game’s only goal.

Hemsworth Villa must have feared the worst when, despite keeper Shane Rowley getting a hand to the ball,  Villa’s former ace marksman Nick Owen gave Laycock Sports the lead from the edge of the area. Laycocks continued to have the better of the first half, but they couldn’t turn it into goals and when the second half started they were hit by a Villa whirlwind. Marcus Jepson’s angled ball gave Liam Pigott the chance to equalise and they quickly took the lead when Russ Westby’s cross was headed home by Tom McIlvanney.

Two became three when the Laycocks keeper Chris Gill could only parry Russ Westby’s shot and new signing Marcus Jepson marked his debut by slamming home the rebound (pictured right). Laycocks responded by pushing three up font and Sam Read rose highest to pull one back, but despite having two penalty appeals turned down and an Owen strike disallowed for offside, they couldn’t force an equaliser. More action from the game below.

CBC Premier leaders The Vine’s home tie with fellow CBC Premier side Southey Social was expected to be a very close affair between two in-form sides, but after Danny Seaman put The Vine ahead after just ten seconds it turned out to be a bit of a romp for the home side. Dan Bateman set up Rikki Davidson for a second before half time and after the break Seaman set Bateman for a third, before Davidson grabbed his second. Rob Womack pulled one back for Southey, but they never looked likely to get back into the game.

Pitsmoor Royal Oak was expecting a tough tie at Division One leaders Fairbank-Rhodes and they got it. In another game where referee Craig Grundy helped to keep the action flowing from one end to the other, both keepers had to make good saves to keep the game goalless before half time and it looked as if extra time was going to be needed when Scott Spzajer intercepted the ball on the edge of his own are before hitting a long ball to Luke Fletcher. He then held off a defender before chipping the keeper for the winner.

DIV 1 - Bull back on top, while another Draper double lifts Aston -  Bulls Head went back to the top of Division One when they came from behind to beat title rivals Queens Ground 2-1. Ada Tomlin gave Queens a deserved first half lead, but Smith set Robert Dorber up to score before they won it with Chris Peel’s third in two games.

Hot on their heels are Niagara, Aston Swallownest and Throstles after all three also won. Niagara’s was the most convincing as six different scorers gave them a 6-2 win at Colley. Danny Bainbridge, Chris Smith, Craig Foster and Simon Staniforth had Niagara 4-0 up inside twenty minutes, but Colley hit back through Ian Sharland and Daniel Lloyd and it might have got really interesting if Neil Whitworth had not missed a penalty. The second half was less eventful with goals from Dan Cooper and Scott Wostenholme wrapping things up.

After hitting the post inside two minutes, Aston Swallownest found themselves behind Anston Athletic at half time to a Simon Herberts strike, but after the break Ian Draper hit a real cracker into the top corner to level and went ahead through David Sills. Danny Mills’ twenty five yard shot crashed against the bar and fell to James Saxilby to head home an equaliser for Anston, but Aston finally won it when Draper headed home his fourth in the last two games.

Despite a Nick Walsh goal, Throstles looked set to lose at bottom club Woodhouse Angel as they led through Chris Towey and Lee Marshall strikes, but, with just thirty seconds remaining, Nick Curtis equalised and then Throstles remarkably won it in the cruellest possible fashion as an Angel defender turned the ball into his own net.

After Ranch and Loxley had produced a seven goal thriller the week before they went one better when they met for the second time in eight days as Ranch completed the double with a 5-3 victory. Breon Fogarty’s corner went straight in to give Ranch the lead only for the games best move create the chance for Steve Mayfield to level. Tom Hartley then created the chance for his brother Ben to restore Ranch’s lead, but they were pegged back a second time when Lee Struggles scored just before the break.

The second half saw Steve Batty head home from a Fogarty corner to put Ranch back in front and Richard Berry doubled that lead from close range. Loxley should have pulled one back when they were awarded a penlty, but Anthony Marshall saw his spot kick brilliantly saved by Mark Broadhurst. Marshall did eventually reduce the arrears with a header, but Dan Livett marked his fiftieth appearance for Ranch with a goal to seal Ranch’s victory.

DIV 2 - Players Lounge win at last, while Hunt winner stops Old Boys -  Handsworth Old Boys missed the chance to go top of Division Two when they surprisingly lost their unbeaten record against Colley WMC. Richard Firth put Colley ahead, only to see it cancelled out by Chris James before half time. Firth restored Colley’s lead after the break and although it was cancelled out again by an Alex Hull free kick, Colley led again through Chris Hunt. Colley then had their keeper dismissed for bringing an attacker down outside his area, but their defence held firm to end Handsworth’s record.

Junior Blades could have gone level on points at the top if they had held on to leads given to them by Alex Rabould and full back Adam Hardwick, but Sam Walsh had cancelled out the first goal and in the ninety fourth minute man-of-the-match Dave Hattersly grabbed a deserved equaliser for Chapeltown RBL.

Crookes & District also missed the chance to go level on points at the top when Highfield Old Crown ended their lean spell with victory in a nine goal thriller. An Eddie MacErlain penalty was cancelled out by a Matt Walsh penalty for Crookes, but Ash Hughes, Duncan Wilson and Stuart Underwood had Crown 4-1 up at the break. A second West penalty reduced the arrears before a Chris Cottyn shot went in off a post to really make it game on. Crookes desperate search for an equaliser inevitably left them short at the back and Underwood took advantage to hit his second to give Crown some breathing space. They needed it as Cottynhit his second after Paul Jackson and West had carved open the Crown defence, but Crookes couldn’t force an equaliser.

It was a real red-letter day for Players Lounge Athletic after they gained their first three points of the season with a 4-2 home win over Sharrow Vale. Aaron Parker set Scott Marcus up to give Athletic the lead and although two Tom Wray strikes saw them fall behind, when Parker flicked on to David Ibbotson he applied the finish to send the teams in level at the break. The second half belonged to Players Lounge though and their long wait for some points was ended when Reuben Wood headed home and Anthony Holmes crashed in a twenty five yarder. More action from the game is below.
