21 MAY – LEAGUE CUP FINAL – Royal Earl kings of Bramall Lane – Royal Earl came from behind to beat Stannington Village 2-1 at Bramall Lane in a League Cup Final that saw both teams produce some high quality football. Jack Haslam put Stannington ahead after just five minutes, but, with half-time looming, man of the match Ethan Hobson struck an unstoppable shot into the top corner to send the teams into the break level. The second half saw both teams with chances, but when Earl's Richard Tootle hit a cross from distance it sailed over everyone and into the top corner. Stannington did their best to get back into it and had a penalty appeal turned down, before Earl was reduced to ten men when Matty Ord received a second yellow card. Oliver Parfitt netted a hat-trick for Inter and the CBC Premier'd leading scorer Conner Platts (left) took his league tally to 19 with two for Oughtibridge. Ethan Barron and Adam Thomasa gave Oughtibridge an early two goal lead, but Parfitt's first two had Inter level at the break. The second half started with Parfitt completing his hat-trick to give inter the lead, but Platts first and a Josh Hunnam strike had Oughtibridge back in front. Rob Neal netted his first ever goal to bring Inter level again until Platts second put Oughtibridge in front for a third time. It looked like that would be it, but Adam Justice netted late on to make the final score 5-5. 10 MAY – DIVISION 1 – Smith leavees it late to save Crookes – A last gasp Pete Smith header for WH Crookes saved them from defeat by Southey Social in Division One's final game of the season. Crookes started the quicker, but Southey grew into the game and after the Crookes keeper had somehow tipped a Carlton Carty volley onto a post they got themselves in front when Daniel Jenkinson headed on for Carty to race into the box to give his side a half-time lead. After the break Carty should have doubled Southey's lead, but shot wide with only the keeper to beat. Crookes then began to get on top, but it looked like the Southey defence and keeper Kian Sheedy weren't going to be beaten until a corner in the last seconds of the game saw Smith rise highest to gives Crookes a 1-1 draw. 8 MAY – CBC PREMIER – Oughtibridge beat Inter to ensure they avoid the drop – Oughtibridge WM beat FC Inter 6-0 - a result that ensures Oughtibridge avoid the drop. Goals from Luke Beedham, Simon Duckworth, Josh Hunnam, Adam Thomas, Jugal Thapa and the CBC Premier's leading scorer Connor Platts 17th of the season saw Oughtibridge comfortably home to keep their place in the top flight. 7 MAY – DIVISION 1 – Sheaf beat South to ensure they avoid the drop – Sheaf House beat Sheffield South 3-2 - a result that ensures Sheaf House avoid the drop. Jack Melbourne, Jake Powell and Josh Redfearn gave Sheaf a 3-1 lead at half time and although Luois Marven added to Jack Price's first half goal for South, Sheaf held on to ensure they stay up. 5 MAY – CBC PREMIER – Eckington beat Joker – Joker's season ended with a 2-1 defeat by Eckington - a result that means that Eckington can finish no lower than 6th, whereas Joker will lose third place if Stannington Villsge beat Eckington in their final game of the season. Midway through the first half a ball into the box fell to Owen Ryan and he fired home to give Eckington a first half lead. After the break Joker levelled when Jacob Pearson was pulled down in the area and Matt Langley netted from the spot. Eckington won it though when Dan White took the ball inside the area before volleying powerfully home. 5 MAY – DIVISION 1 – Crookes win an 11 goal thriller – Pete Smith netted his first two league goals of the season as WH Crookes won an 11 goal thriller 6-5 at already promoted Boynton Sports. With both sides nothing to play for but pride, both made it a game to remember. As well as Smith's double, Crookes other scorers were Matt Price, Billy Shepherd, Brendon Atkin and Charlie Cope. Boynton trailed 5-1 at one point, but goals from Jack Bennett, Isaac Reardon, Marc Peacock, Nathan Fletcher and Jake Bonnett made a real game of it. 5 MAY – DIVISION 2 – Chapeltown shock Brunsmeer, to make ADC Wisewood the runners-up – Brunsmeer AJW went into their final game at Chapeltown knowing that just a point would see them finish Division 2 runners-up, but Chapeltown ruined the party by taking all three points with a 4-1 victory, leaving AFC Wisewood to take the runners-up spot. An overhead kick by Ben Smedley gave Chapeltown the lead until Charlie Clark levelled for Brunsmeer. Chapeltown's Club Captain Chris Pickford had made the journey back from London to play the game and his effort was rewarded when his tackle flew straight into the net to put Chapeltown back in front. Ben Rooth then finished the best move of the game by bending the ball into the top corner to extend Chapeltown's lead, before leading scorer Harry Hurst completed the scoring with a looping header for his 7th of the season - not bad for the centre back. |
2 MAY – DIVISION 1 – Jubilee winm but it's Dronfield that are Champions – Jubilee Rangers won 3-2 at Boynton Sports and it was a result that meant AFC Dronfield (pictured left) took the Division 1 title. Both Boynton and Jubilee will be celebrating though as both teams will be promoted. Harry Trotter was brought down in the area and Jack Shaw netted the penalty to give Jubilee the lead, but Boynton equalised before half-time and took the lead with a header in the second half. Boynton had a gret chance to extend their lead when they were awrded a penalty, but James Gamble in the Jubilee net made a smart save to keep his side in the game. The games third penalty came soon after when a Boynton player handled in the area and Josh Jackson smashed home the spot kick. It was all Jubilee now and when Sam Phillips beat two defenders before beating the keeper, Jubilee took the points. 1 MAY – DIVISION 1 – Sheaf and Reds share the points – Mosborough Reds completed their season by gaining a point with a 1-1 draw at Sheaf House. During a goalless first half Reds keeper daved a penalty and with 10 minutes left Alex Jones put Sheaf ahead, but Reds gott their point with an Alix Sorsby free kick 5 minutes from time.

25 APR – DIVISION 2 – Cueball take the Division 2 title – Cueball (pictured right) came from two down to beat Chapeltown FC 4-2 and take the Division 2 title at the first attempt. Harry Hurst and Ben Smedley goals looked to be causing an upset, but three penalties turned the game on it's head, with Travis Hodgson netting all three to take his tally to 26 for the season. It stayed like that even though Chapeltown went very close to an equaliser on a couple of occasions. The Chapeltown keeper also made two great saves, but he could do nothing to stop Jack Bailey-Atkin completing the scoring and making certain of the title. 25 APR – CBC PREMIER – Pheasant go Ruddy mad, and Oughtibridge edge towards safey – George Rudd netted four as WB Pheasant handed Eckington their worst ever defeat, 8-0. Rudd's first two and one from Danny Reet saw Pheasant fly into a three goal half-time lead. The second half started with Kane Doughty adding a fourth, before Rudd added two more. Doughty added his second before Lewis Fothergill comppleted the scoring. A mention for Derek Statham who toof over from referee John Reeves after he was injured.
Oughtibridge gained a vital
point with a 2-2 draw at local rivals Stannington Village and now one win
from their final 3 games will probably see them safe

scorer Dan Beech proved just too much for Crookes who replied with a Billy

victory at relegation rivals Mosborough Reds who must now win their final
two games to have any chance of avoiding a bottom two finish. |

– SUNDAY TROPHY FINAL –
Boynton Sports
lift the Sunday Trophy –
Lee Jordan (on the left of the picture right with his brother Ben and the
trophy) netted twice as Boynton Sports beat Barnsley’s AFC Pogmoor 4-1 in
the Sunday Trophy Final at Rossington Main to win the trophy for the first
time. Boynton started on the front foot and they were awarded a penalty
when Richie Atkins (pictured left) was brought down by the keeper in the
area. Despite the keeper saving Jack Bennet’s spot kick, Bennet followed
up to hammer the loose ball home. Their lead was doubled before half-time
when Atkins broke clear before beating the keeper.
After the break Pogmoor
pulled one back following a scramble in the area and they pressed for an
equaliser. Boynton regained their composure though and were soon back on
top and only some good saves by the Pogmoor keeper kept his side in the
game. A third goal did come though when a corner was met at the near post
by Lee Jordan and his header lew over everyone into the far corner. A
fourth soon followed when Boynton were awarded a second penalty. This time
Lee Jordan stepped up and although the keeper again saved the spot kick,
Jordan followed up to put the rebound into the net. At the end of the
game, County FA Chairman Brian Coddington presented Boynton with their
medals and trophy. See pictures from the game below:

Woodman are
down, but Eckington ruin the new champions record
–
New Champions Chapeltown RBL fell to their first away league defeat of the
season as Eckington eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 victory over
them. Eckington took the lead when a good ball across the box was
sidefooted home by Joel Cousins and it was doubled before half-time when
Joe Renshaw closed the keeper down and took the ball off him before
scoring. RBL did their best to keep their unbeated record and pulled one
back through Micky Vella, but Eckington held on to the vital three points.
Eckington’s win also confirmed that Woodman Intake will finish in the
bottom three along with FC Inter who slipped to a 3-1 defeat at
Stannington Village. Luca DeFalco goals
before and after half-time gave Stannington a two goal lead and an own
goal made it three before Russ Westby netted Inter’s consolation.
Sheffield Sixs now look vulnerable after they completed their season with
a 5-3 defeat against the team just below them, Oughtibridge WM.
Oughtibridge led 3-0 at the break, but Sixs hit back after the break with
goals from Harry Buxton, a Luke Allison penalty after Buxton had been
fouled, and a Joel Elms strike made it 3-3, but Oughtibridge hit back with
two late goals to win it to improve their chances of escaping the drop.
Scorers for Oughtibridge were Simon Duckworth, Connor Platts 2, Adam
Thomas and Josh Hunnam. If Oughtibridge gain four points from their last
four games they will almost certainly climb out of the bottom three and
put Sixs there instead.

lifeline at the foot of the table with a 4-2 victory over a Southey Social
side now just a point above them. An own goal and one each from Lestyn
Jones and Roenan Fallon gave Sheaf a 3-1 lead at half-time, with Josh

Cueball look set to take the Division 2 title after their 4-1 win at
Winter Green saw them go back to the top of the table. Cueball’s goals
came from a Farrell Cawthorne double and one each for Jack Challoner and
Matt Herrington, with Winter Green’s consolation coming from Ashley Unwin.
Cueball will take the title if they win at Chapeltown in midweek, or their
final game at Royal Oak (Dronfield). Cotts FC continued their impressive
away form with a 4-2 victory at Norton Oaks. Cotts were winning 3-0 at
half-time Andrew Swift Ryan Simmonite and Chris Salt winning 3-0 at the
interval, but second half goals from Jack Higgins and a Tom Blacksell
penalty put Oaks right back into it until Harry Shaw settled Cotts’
nerves. |
18 APR – CBC PREMIER – Chapeltown RBL take the title for the first time – Chapeltown RBL beat Joker Wickersley Youth CC to confirm their first ever League title - a deserved reward for all the hard work Dave Adams and Adam Todd have put into the team. After winning the Division 2 and Division 1 titles in the previous two seasons, Chapeltown RBL clinched their third title on the trot sweeping Joker Wickersley aside 5-1. Elliott Simpson opened the scoring after 8 minutes with a trademark free kick. Man of the match Niall Smith doubled the lead when Jed Phillips found him on the half way line, and following a marauding run he coolly slotted home on 20 minutes. 3 minutes later Jay Carter made it 3 with a left foot finish, after good work by Luis Afonso-Ferreira. Early in the second half Joker were awarded a penalty for holding, which was well dispatched by Matthew Langley. Top scorer Jed Phillips regained RBL's three goal lead with a calm finish, and when Mikey Vella found Morgan Cowell on the edge of the box, he fired home to make it 5-1 on 85 minutes to seal the title in style. Chapeltown are pictured right with the trophy. Eckington BFC put themselves a point further
away from the bottom three with a draw at Stannington Village. Eckington
took the lead with a Tom Gambles penalty, but it was cancelled out when
a Jon Wall cross was sliiced into his own net by an Eckington defender.
Stannington then took the lead when a Luca DeFalco shot was parried by
the keeper, but Shaun Flynn was on hand to put home the rebound. It was
then Eckington's turn to level when Pat Stothard netted, but Stannington
looked to have won it when Flynn put Wall through to score. Eckington
claimed their point in the final minute with a Brad Spencer strike and

14 APR – CBC PREMIER – Chapeltown held by Woodman, but Earl keep up the chase – Leaders Chapeltown RBL are still one win away from their first League title after they were held to a goalless draw by struggling Woodman Intake. It was no mean feat by Woodman as they became the first team this season to stop the leaders from scoring in the league.
Royal Earl kept themselves in the title race with a 3-1 victory at another
struggler, Oughtibridge WM.
Eckington remain only
just above the drop zone after their 2-1 defeat at Joker Wickersley Youth
CC. Eckington hit a post in the first half and a scramble in the goalmouth
almost brought an opener for Joker. The second half saw Joker open the
scoring when Jordan Thomas was denied by the keeper, but Ben Thornton
pounced on the rebound to score. Eckington hit back and levelled the
scores with a Pat Stothard strike and only the woodwork twice stopped them
taking the lead. It was Joker that won it though when Jacob Pearson found
Owen Kelly down the line before moving into the area to meet Kelly’s cross
to score.
Sheffield Sixs remain in
the relegation mix after their narrow 1-0 defeat at Stannington Village
thanks to a Shaun Flynn strike for Stannington.

The title race
still open as Dronfield and Boynton two draw –
The title race still open after the leaders AFC
Dronfield drew 2-2 at third place Boynton Sports. Jake Bonnett and Marc
Peacock strikes for Boynton were cancelled out by two Mark Ashley strikes
in the second half.
WH Crookes came from
behind to win 3-2 at Mosborough Reds. Ollie McQuillin gave Crookes the
lead, but when Gaz Coddington was brought down in the area, Ash Hotchin
stepped up to equalise from the spot. It soon go worse for Crookes when
Tom Rowbotham put through his own goal to give Reds a half-time lead.
After the break a Rhema Obed strike levelled the scores, before a real
screamer for McQuillin’s second won it for Crookes.
Although Mosborough
Lions got a point from a 3-3 draw with Southey Social, their situation
looks precarious. Harry Wareham gave Lions a half-time lead with a good
strike after a quick break, but Southey soon levelled after the break when
Carlton Carty rounded the keeper to score. Lions went back in front when a
cross was pulled back to Max Howard and he scored from the edge of the
area. Carty then got his second with a free-kick to level again and
Southey then took the lead when Roan Heeley fired into the bottom corner.
Lions plugged away though and when a long throw fell to him, Billy Gillett
hit their equaliser to earn them a point.

Chapeltown almost there –
Leaders Chapeltown RBL are just one win away from their first League title
after their 5-2 victory over Oughtibridge WM.
Chapeltown RBL hosted Oughtibridge at Jubilee Sports Club due to a
waterlogged home pitch and RBL were fast out of the traps when Brandon
Whitfields perfect pass in the first minute found Luis Afonso-Ferreira who
beat the keeper to the ball. Oughtibridge equalised after 13 minutes with
a quick free kick routine, Jed Phillips put Legion back in front on the
half hour after good work from captain Josh Savage.
It stayed that way until
64 minutes when a well worked Oughtibridge move levelled the scores. RBL
responded with Harley Wilson’s raking ball sending Whitfield through and
he rounded the keeper to put RBL back in front. Morgan Cowell made it 4-2
by finishing well from a Whitfield cross and the scoring was complete when
Adam Todd crossed for Cowell, who saw his effort well saved, only for
Phillips to get his second and 16th goal of the season.
Royal Earl kept themselves in the race with a 2-1 victory at Stannington
Village – a defeat that means that Stannington cannot now retain the title
they won last season.
Ashley Cooper put Earl
ahead with a looping cross that caught the Stannington keeper out and Joe
Pearson made it 2-0 inside 15 minutes with a lovely cushioned header after
a great cross from Matty Ord.
Stannington had a great
chance to get back into the game before half-time when they were awarded a
penalty, but Jacck Holmes dragged his spot kick wide. On the hour mark
Stannington did pull one back when from a Jon Wall corner saw a goal bound
header from Dave Shepherd glanced in by Shaun Flynn. Stannington pushed
for an equaliser but Earl defended well to take all three points.
Joker Wickersley Youth CC are technically still in the title race after
their 6-1 victory over an FC Inter.
In very windy conditions Joker opened the scoring with a James Hardeman
strike from the edge of the box. FC Inter equalised soon after with a
beautiful effort from Yassine Teache caught the keeper in no-man’s land,
but in the second half it was then one way traffic.
Alfie Miller put Joker
back in front by calmly finishing a great cross from Nathan Taylor, before
an Adam Daughtrey free kick assisted by the wind looped over the keeper
into the top corner to make it 3-1.
A Matt Claxton long ball forward saw Ben Thornton go one on one with the
keeper who he rounded to make it 4-1. With little time left Thornton
turned provider, cutting the ball back for Michael Cuckson. Matt Godley
had a chance to put himself of the scoresheet but with what only could be
described as the miss off the season kept him off it, but Daughtrey scored
his second with a strikers finish into the far right corner to complete
the scoring.
Woodman Intake also look doomed for the drop after their 4-3 home defeat
by a Sheffield Sixs now 7 points clear of the drop zone.
After a goalless first half, Sixs took the lead straight after the break
when George Utley was brought down and Luke Allison covered the penalty.
Ross Lamkin made it 2-0 on 52 mins when he capitalised on a goalkeeper
error to slot the ball home, but quick goals from Oliver Currie and Harry
Murphy levelled the scores. Ben Southwell restored Sixs lead on 65 mins
with a stunning striker into the top corner, but a second from Murphy had
Woodman level again. It looked like that would be it until, with virtually
the last action of the game, Chris Belsaw won it for Sixs when he headed
home from a corner.

Boynton close
in on promotion, while Dronfield celebrate –
Boynton look certain to be promoted after their 4-1
victory over Sheaf House. The game started a bit frantic with Sheaf giving
as good as they got, but once it settled, Boynton started to control the
game and a crossfield ball by Jake Gamban was played back across the box
for Richie Atkin to tap in. Boynton added a second before half-time when a
great through ball by Lee Jordan was slotted home by Curt Priday.
The second half saw
Boynton come out fast and Lee Jordan got his first with a great finish.
Boynton then made a number of changes and Sheaf started to get a real
foothold in the game and left back Nile Ions scored after a great run and
bottom corner finish. Sheaf managed a few more chances, but the Boynton
defence held firm and when Boynton sub Nathan Fletcher was introduced he
calmed the game down. Boynton, with man of the match Ben Jordan rolling
back the years with an excellent midfield performance, retook control and
Lee Jordan added his second from a Alastair Holland through ball.
Leaders AFC Dronfield
already knew they were up and they celebrated their promotion as two Ross
Dawson goals and a terrific team performance gave them a 2-0 victory over
second place Jubilee Rangers. The result was a blow to Jubilee’s title
aspirations, but it’s still very close at the top.

Cotts keep
their hopes alive, and Winter Green look Ruddi good –
Cotts kept their slim
promotion hopes alive with a 5-1 victory over Norton Oaks. Chris Salt took
his season’s League and Cup tally to 16 with a hat-trick, with Cotts other
two coming from Ryan Simmonite. Norton’s goal came in the second half when
Kyle Grantham tackled the keeper and Chris Pigott chipped the keeper and
defender into the open net.
Ryan Ruddiforth netted
four times as Winter Green scored their third away win of the season, 5-1
at Chapeltown FC. Tyler Doman opened the scoring for Green after 5 minutes
before Ryan Ruddiforth added a second before half-time. Chapeltown were
their own worst enemy by creating and missing chance after chance, but
Harry Byrne pulled one back for them after they were awarded a penalty.
The second half belonged to Ruddiforth though as he showed his opponents
how to finish by adding three more. |
