25 FEB – SUNDAY CUP – Eckington bow out – Eckington’s Sunday Cup run ended with a narrow defeat at holders Scawthorpe Athletic. Scawthorpe took the lead in the 22nd minute when a corner was bundled home from close range. Scawthorpe got a second two minutes before half time when a foul by the Eckington keeper resulted in a penalty, which the Scawthorpe player slotted home. Eckington grew into the game in the second half and grabbed a goal back in the 80th minute when Pat Stothard battled well to nick the ball away from the keeper and slot home. They went flat out to find an equaliser and almost got it in the final moments, but Scawthorpe held on.

25 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Legion take a grip of the title, while Pheasant win a thriller – Chapeltown RBL beat relegation threatened Woodman Intake 3-1 to go ten points clear at the top and make them clear favourites to take their first League title. RBL’s fifth consecutive victory started when Brandon Whitfield’s mazy run ended up with his deflected cross evading the keeper after 8 minutes. Man of the match Alex Mosley’s corner was headed home by Dave Millen to double the lead ten minutes before half time.

Intake halved the lead shortly after half time with a good finish by Harry Chamberlain, and further pressure saw them awarded a penalty, but RBL keeper Lewis Fox kept his fine form up by going the right way to save. Former Intake winger Luis Afonso-Ferreira beat his marker late on and crossed for Morgan Cowell to finish well left footed to secure the win for RBL.

Wadsley Bridge Pheasant came from behind 3 times to win their crucial relegation battle at FC Inter 4-3 to go six points clear of the drop zone. Sam Read gave Inter a shock 1st min lead but a Chris Steer goal levelled for Pheasant. Within a minute Inter re-took the lead with a Read penalty, but Joe Slater strike drew Pheasant level a second time before half-time. After the break Read completed his hat-trick to put Inter back in front, but Pheasant hit back again and after twice hitting the woodwork their pressure paid off with a Luke Beedham goal. Pheasant kept the pressure up after that and Dylan Parrott got the winner that eased their relegation fears, but left Inter six points from safety.
25 FEB – DIVISION 1 – Dronfield and Boynton both win, but Jubilee are held by Southey – Both leaders AFC Dronfield and fourth place Boynton Sports had good wins against Mosborough Lions and Sheaf House to improve their promotion chances, but Jubilee Rangers hopes were hit when they could only draw with Southey Social.

Only a Charlie Line goal separated Dronfield from their visitors at half-time, but as Lions, playing their first game for six weeks, ran out of steam in the second half, goals from goals from James Taylor, Sam Matata, Mark Ashley & Sam Porter gave Dronfield a deserved 5-1 win, with 4 or the 5 goal scorers 21 or under. Adam Pocock netted Lions’ consolation goal. Boynton also had a 5-1 win over Sheaf House with goals from a Lee Jordan double, Curtis Priday, Jake Gamban and Marc Peacock, with Jake Powell netting for Sheaf.

Jubilee Rangers knew that victory at home to Southey Social was vital, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Southey took the lead inside 10 mins as Jubilee failed to deal with a ball into the box and Daniel Jenkinson fired home from 6yds. Jenkinson then had a great chance to double the lead when he raced clear of the Jubilee defence but the keeper saved his effort. Southey continued to have the better chances, but failed to capitalise and were made to pay on the stroke of half-time when a deflection fell kindly for the striker to poke home from close range.

The 2nd half saw Jubilee have plenty of the ball, but without creating any clear cut chances and it was Southey who re-took the lead when Jamie Hopkins fired home a free kick from edge of the box. Southey looked good for all 3pts but in 8th minute of stoppage time a cross into the box was turned onto the post and bundled home from close range.

25 FEB – DIVISION 2 – Brunsmeer win at Wadsley to go top and Cotts keep their hopes alive – Brunsmeer A.J.W. won 4-0 at Wadsley FC to go top and they now need just two wins to be certain of promotion. Goals by Gaz Murdoch and Jake Hatton in the first half, followed by Dan Fox and Ollie Hall goals in the second half gave Brunsmeer victory.

An Andrew Swift double gave Cotts a 2-1 victory over Royal Oak (Dronfield) to keep their outside promotion hopes alive. Cotts started quickly and Swift netted both his goals in the first twenty minutes, but after that Royal Oak began to get on top and they reduced the arrears with a Josh Sugden penalty before half time. Royal Oak battled away in the second half, but Cotts held firm to take the points.

Chapeltown FC gained their second away win of the season, 2-1 at Norton Oaks. Goals from Ben Smedley and Harry Hurst gave Chapeltown a two goal lead at the break, but Oaks dominated after the break and after spurning several chances they eventually pulled one back when Tom Blacksell was fouled in the box and converted the penalty himself, but it was too late in the game to salvage any points.

18 FEB – SUNDAY TROPHY – Boynton and Jubilee Rangers make it an all-Blades Super Draw final – Boynton Sports needed to win a penalty shoot-out against fellow Division 1 side WH Crookes to reach the final for a second time. A man of the match performance by Nathan Fletcher and two goals from Curtis Priday (left) was cancelled out by a Charlie Cope double for WH Crookes, so the tie went to a penalty shoot-out which Boynton just won 5-4.

They will face another fellow Division 1 side, Jubilee Rangers, after they won 4-0 at Barnsley’s AFC Pogmoor. After the Pogmoor keeper had already been called into action a few times, Jubilee’s pressure finally paid off when Brendon Reid-Flanagan headed them into the lead. It was son doubled when some neat footwork in the area broke to Harry Dunkerley and he fired home. It was three just before the break when a good move was finished off by Deegan Atherton. The Pogmoor keeper made more saves in the second half, but even he couldn’t stop Danny Vigrass completed the win with Jubilee’s fourth.

It means the League will have had both finalists for the fifth time in the last nine and only once in those nine has there not been at least one Blades Super Draw team in the final. This season’s final looks set to be a classic between two teams that look very good bets to be in the CBC Premier next season.

18 FEB - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Stannington gain revenge – In a game that saw Luca DeFalco and Jack Wilson both score hat-tricks, Stannington Village had to come from two down to draw 3-3 and force a penalty shoot-out against fellow CBC Premier side Oughtibridge WM. It was Stannington that came through to reach the semi-final and was sweet revenge for Stannington after they were beaten by Oughtibridge on penalties in last season's Bramall Lane final. DeFalco gave Stannington the lead when he cut inside before side footing into the far corner. Oughtibridge levelled when Wilson’s shot took a deflection past the keeper and he then gave Oughtibridge the lead with a terrific 20 yard strike. It became 3-1 on the hour mark when Wilson completed his hat-trick with a shot that dribbled into the net after another deflection.

DeFalco reduced the arrears when he again cut inside before smashing home with his left foot and he completed his treble just before the final whistle when he flicked a Charlie Hobson corner home. That meant penalties with Stannington scoring all their first three, but Oughtibridge seeing one effort saved by keeper Harley Middleton and missing two more, it was Stannington that went through to face Joker Wickersley Youth CC in the semi-final on 24 March at Warminster Road.

18 FEB – SUNDAY CUP – Eckington have to try again – Eckington’s tie with Scawthorpe Athletic was postponed for a second time meaning they will have to try again next week.

18 FEB – CBC PREMIER – Legion are title favourites after ending Earl’s run and Joker slip at Sixs – Chapeltown RBL became favourites for their first League title as Brandon Whitfield (right) hit the clincher as they inflicted a first league defeat of the season, 4-2, on second place Royal Earl. A slow start didn’t produce any chances, but the deadlock was broken on the half hour when Mikey Vella’s corner saw Jed Phillips rise highest to flick on and Ollie Beaumont fired home to score against his former club. Legion squandered two good chances and were made to pay on the stroke of half time when Earl equalised after a great Johno Williams cross was headed in off the crossbar by Ethan Hobson. Soon after the break Luis Afonso-Ferreira scored the goal of the game winning the ball on the edge of the area and then volleying in to the top corner and 5 minutes later Phillips got his 12th of the season after good work by Dave Millen. Royal Earl didn’t give in and pulled it back to 3-2 just after the hour mark with a tidy Matt Ord finish just inside the area. Earl pushed for an equaliser and put pressure on, but Legion held firm and Brandon Whitfield secured the points finishing well in the area to end an entertaining game.

Fourth place Joker Wickersley fell to a surprise defeat at relegation threatened Sheffield Sixs. Sixs took an early lead when Harry Buxton fastened onto Ben Southwell’s through ball and lobbed the keeper. It stayed like that until the second half when Owen Kelly’s long ball found Ben Thornton and his great touch and finish brought the scores level. Joker pushed for a second, but Sixs still looked dangerous on the counter and just two minutes from time it was Sixs that took the three points when Southwell finished the move of the game.

Two more relegation strugglers met at Woodman Intake, who claimed their first home win of the season, 4-1, against FC Inter. Oliver Currie gave Woodman a first half lead and Harry Murphy doubled it soon after the break. Rafael Sebastiao pulled one back for Inter, but Woodman made the points safe with further goals from Kain Murphy and Harry Walker.

18 FEB – DIVISION 1 – South triumph over Sheaf to go second – Said Benaissa scored twice as Sheffield South beat Sheaf House 4-0 to go second in the table. Alex Masterson and Jon Cooper added the others.

18 FEB – DIVISION 2 – All change at the top – With Brunsmeer’s game postponed it allowed both Cueball and AFC Wisewood to jump over them to take the top two positions. New leaders are Cueball who were awarded the points after their opponents Steel City Dons were unable to field a team and in second place is AFC Wisewood after a Thomson Cartledge double helped them to a 5-3 victory over Wadsley FC. Matt Civil, Oscar Cam and Declan Pinhorn netted Wisewood’s others. Kurtis Westerman, Jordan Lewis and Harry McClean goals for Wadsley made a real game of it, but Wisewood held on to the points.

11 FEB – SUNDAY CUP – Eckington's final bid put on hold – The Sunday Cup semi-final between Eckington and Scawthorpe United was postponed and will have to try again next Sunday. It means that Eckington's game at Wadsley Bridge Pheasant is postponed, as is Mosborough Lions home game with AFC Dronfield.

11 FEB – CBC PREMIER – George is Ruddy good for Pheasant – The only CBC Premier game to survive the weather saw George Rudd (pictured right) score twice as Wadsley Bridge Pheasant beat Oughtibridge WM 5-1 to climb out of the relegation places. Pheasant started off brightly and missed several chances before Rudd broke the deadlock with a good strike. Rudd then took advantage of a defensive error to hit his second, before Niall Wilkinson made it three at half-time. Oughtibridge looked more likely to score at the start of the second half, but Pheasant increased their lead further thanks to an own goal. Mosab Gadour made if five before Arnie Grayson netted a consolation for the visitors.

11 FEB – DIVISION 1 – James is Taylor made for Dronfield – James Taylor scored twice as leaders AFC Dronfield came from behind to beat relegation threatened WH Crookes 2-1 and go six points clear at the top. Louis Ballard gave WH Crookes the lead after 30 minutes, but Dronfield hit back to level with Taylor’s first and they were in front before half time when Josh Sell was brought down in the area and Taylor stepped up to net his second from the spot. The second half was just as close, but Dronfield held on to take the points.

11 FEB – DIVISION 2 – The Oak derby ends all square, but Winter Green see off Wadsley – The derby between Norton Oaks and Royal Oak (Dronfield) ended all square. The game looked set to be a goalless draw until the game was going into added time when a cross was touched back by Jack Higgins and Norton’s Chris Pigott smashed a half volley into the top corner. Royal Oak responded and won a corner which was headed home by Ben McGeeney to ensure the points were shared.

Winter Green produced their best performance of the season to beat Wadsley FC 5-2. Winter raced into a three goal lead within the first ten minutes with goals from Louis Barrows, Ryan Clapham and Jordan Heald. Ryan Ruddiforth made it four before James Hague pulled one back for Wadsley. Winter Green weren’t finished though and a Brandon Wazirali strike made it 5-1 at the break. Wadsley did much better after the break and pulled a second back with an lwehla Say goal, but the damage was done in the first half.

4 FEB - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Semi-Final draw – The semi-final draw was made by Wednesday and England legend Chris Waddle at Bramall Lane (pictured left). It saw Royal Earl paired with Woodman Intake and Joker Wickersley Youth CC paired with the winners of the Stannington Village v Oughtibridge WM. Both semi-finals to be played on Sunday 24 March at Warminster Road. The Earl tie will be played on the pitch normally used by Crookes and the Joker tie will be played on the pitch normally used by Earl. Both ties will kick-off at 11am.

4 FEB No Travis-ty that Hodgson tops the scorers – Travis Hodgson of Division 2 Cueball currently tops the scorers charts. The leading scorer in the CBC Premier is Jed Phillips of Chapeltown RBL and Division One’s leading marksman is Luke Howson of Sheffield South, but all three divisions are very tight and the lead could change week-on-week.

4 FEB - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Morton, Walker and Daughtrey star in the cup – Matt Morton (right) scored four as Roya Earl came from two down to beat Southey Social 6-3. Division One Southey started on the front foot against their CBC Premier opponents and deservedly took the lead when a clearance by the keeper came to Ryan Whitney and he hit a 40 yard half volley back over the keeper into the net. Whitney then doubled the lead when he headed home Byron Mullins long throw. Earl got back into the game when Morton took advantage of a mistake and there was more than an element of luck about his equaliser when a clearance hit an Earl player and landed at his feet in front of an empty net. Morton then completed the turn-round and his hat-trick when he headed a long throw over the keeper.

Southey again came out quickest at the start of the second half and Roan Heeley levelled the scores with a header from a corner. Earl went back into the lead when Morton reacted quickest to a deflected shot, but it wasn’t until the final five minutes that they made it safe with further goals from Joe Pearson and Connor Chapell

Earl will meet Woodman Intake in the semi-finals after Harry Walker netted a second half hat-trick to give them a 3-0 victory over FC Inter.

Joker Wickersley Youth CC was another to come from behind as two Adam Daughtrey goals helped them to a 3-1 victory at Eckington. Joker started well, but were wasteful in front of goal and it was Eckington that got the opener when Pat Stothard took advantage of an intercepted through ball. The lead didn’t last long though as a terrific ball from Nathan Taylor was volleyed home at the back post by Adam Daughtrey. Joker took the lead after the break with Daughtrey’s second and it was quickly added to by Ben Thornton. Eckington almost got back into it when they hit the bar, but it was Joker that finished strongest and could have added to their score. Joker will face Stannington Village or Oughtibridge WM in the semi-finals.

4 FEB – DIVISION 1 – Jubilee topple Boynton and Reds hit back for a point at Crookes – Jubilee Rangers went second with a 2-0 victory over fellow Sunday Trophy semi-finalists Boynton Sports. Jubilee started off like a train and deservedly took the lead when a defender was pressed into heading into his own net. Further pressure brought a second when Harry Dunkerley set up the returning Danny Vigrass to knock home. The second half saw Boynton try to get back into the game, but Jubilee kept them under control to claim second place.

The other game played saw Mosborough Reds come back from three down to claim a point from a 3-3 draw at WH Crookes. Two Tom Rickers strikes and one from Louis Flynn gave Crookes a three goal lead, but Reds got back into it when they were awarded a penalty. Although Jak Hotchin saw his spot kick saved, Karl drabble was first to the rebound and scrambled the ball home. After the break an Ash Hotchin header from a corner further reduced the arrears for Reds and they completed the comeback when Adam Lilley rounded the keeper to score. Reds then almost won it, but Drabbles effort was scrambled to safety.

4 FEB – DIVISION 2 – Clark treble helps Brunsmeer go top as Cueball topple leaders – Leaders AFC Wisewood fell to a 2-1 defeat at a Cueball that climbed over them into second place. The League’s current leading scorer netted his 17th of the season along with one from Jack Cawthorn. Thomson Cartledge netted his 13th of the season for Wisewood, but they couldn’t get a second and dropped to third

The new leaders are Brunsmeer after a Lee Clark treble helped them to a 6-2 victory at Royal Oak (Dronfield). Jake Hatton and a Taylor Askham double netted Brunsmeer’s, with Josh Sugden netting both for Royal Oak.  Winter Green moved out of the bottom three as a Louie Barrow strike gave them a 1-0 victory at Steel City Dons.

Norton Oaks stay rooted in the bottom three after a Curtis Dennison hat-trick helped Wadsley FC come from two down to beat them 4-3. Goals from Jordan Noble and Tom Blacksell put Norton two up at the break, but Wadsley changed formation at the break and Dennison soon pulled one back. Reece James then equalised, before Dennison put Wadsley ahead. Laurence Jeffrey-Badger then levelled the scores, but Dennison had the final say to complete his hat-trick and win it for Wadsley.

The final game saw Cotts beat Chapeltown FC 3-1 with goals from Chris Salt, Mike Blythen and Andrew Swift, with Harry Hurst hitting Chapeltown’s reply.
