28 JAN - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Stannington through to the last 8 – Stannington Village are the last team into the last eight after an own goal and a Sami Eric strike clinched a 2-0 victory over Division One WH Crookes. Stannington will now face Oughtibridge WM at home in the quarter finals.

28 JAN – SUNDAY TROPHY – Fletcher slices through Conisbrough to put Boynton in the semi-finals  – Nathan Fletcher was the man of the match and scorer of Boynton's final goal as he helped them recover from two down to make it into the semi-finals where they will face fellow Blades Super Draw Division One side WH Crookes. Conisbrough started quickly and went two up inside twenty minutes, but Boynton gathered themselves and Richie Atkins (right) pulled one back before half time and Liam Halshaw levelled soon after the break. Isaac Reardon put Boynton ahead before Atkins increased the lead. Fletcher added a fifth to ensure Boynton took their place in the semi-finals. It ensures that we will have at least one team in the final and it will be both if Jubilee Rangers win at AFC Pogmoor. Both semi-finals are scheduled for 18 Feb.

28 JAN – CBC PREMIER – Top two go clear, but the battle to avoid the drop hots up after Sixs and Pheasant win – Matt Morton netted a hat-trick as second place Royal Earl won convincingly 7-2 at FC Inter Ethan Hobson, Billy Wright, Johno Williams and Jay Evison netted Earl’s others, with Rafael Sebastiao and Robert Neal hit the replies for Inter.

Still top though is Chapeltown RBL after an impressive 2-0 away win at third place Joker Wickersley Youth CC. Just before the break Mikey Vella played Luis Afonso-Ferreira in who sprinted through and finished calmly. The second half saw RBL double their lead on the hour when Danny Booth played an inch perfect ball for Afonso-Ferreira to go through again, this time squaring for Jed Phillips (left) to score his 11th of the season. Joker rallied but Legion defended well with man of the match Oliver Beaumont marshalling the defence.

The battle to avoid the drop is now any three from six. Sheffield Sixs have played more than the others so their 4-2 win at Oughtibridge WM was vital. Liam Davies pounced on a defensive error to put Oughtibridge ahead, but Tom Bright levelled for Oughtibridge and a minute before the interval Adam Stubbs put Oughtibridge ahead. After the break Jake Thompson pounced on a loose ball to put Sixs level and Brad Howe latch onto a Joe Pearson’s through ball to put Sixs ahead and Howe clinched it when he met Thompson’s corner just before the end.

Dylan Parrott (right) also netted twice as Wadsley Bridge Pheasant gained a crucial 3-1 victory at an Eckington now only four points above the drop zone. Owen Ryan took advantage of a scramble in the box to rifle Eckington ahead just before half-time, but after the break Pheasant’s push for an equaliser was rewarded when Parrott netted. Eckington pushed hard to go back in front but they were caught on the break in the last minute and Parrott netted his second. George Rudd then added a third for Pheasant in injury time to boost their survival hopes.

28 JAN – DIVISION 1 – Dawson treble as leaders Dronfield put second place South to the sword – A second half Ross Dawson treble helped leaders AFC Dronfield beat second place Sheffield South 7-0 to go clear at the top. Sam Porter, Andy Saynor, Joe Lumley and Ty Gunter netted Dronfield’s others in a comprehensive victory.

28 JAN – DIVISION 2 – The top three all win to go thirteen points clear of the rest – Leaders AFC Wisewood had hat-trick scorers in Matt Civil and Thomson Cartledge in their 8-4 win at Cotts FC. Jacob Lally, Andrew Swift and a Ragen Dempsey double were Cotts scorers, but they were outgunned by a rampant Wisewood who added to the hat-tricks with a Declan Pinhorn double.

Second place Brunsmeer had a comfortable 6-1 win over Winter Green. There was doubles for both Gaz Murdoch and Jake Hatton, together with singles for Charlie Wheatley and Dan Fox. Tyler Doman netted for Winter Green who stayed in the game until running out of steam towards the end.

Third place Cueball had a narrow 3-2 win at a Norton Oaks playing their best for some weeks. Early pressure by Cueball saw them go ahead with a Travis Hodgson penalty, but Oaks began to get into the game and when Jordan Noble pressured a Cueball defender into a poor clearance it fell to Tom Blacksell and he thundered it into the top corner from distance to send the teams in level at the break. Cueball went back in front with a Jack Bailey-Atkin strike and Billy Wilson extended it, but Oaks won themselves a penalty when Blacksell went by a couple of defenders before being brought down in the area. He picked himself up to net his second from the spot to set up a nervy finish, but Cueball held on. Those wins have sent the top three thirteen points clear of the rest.

Wadsley FC gained their first league win since October, 2-0 against Royal Oak. Reece James hit a half volley from 12 yards to give Wadsley the lead, but only some terrific goalkeeping by Ellis Champion stopped Oak from equalizing and even when Oaks were awarded a penalty in the second half, Champion again produced an outstanding save to keep his side ahead. Wadsley eventually made it safe when Curtis Dennison curled a shot in ten minutes from time.

Chapeltown FC gained their first win since September against Steel City Dons, winning 5-0. Penalties by Harry Byrne and Jacob Couldwell together with goals from Daniel Smith, Ben Rooth and the pick of the bunch from Josh Cooke.

25 JAN – Fixtures for February now shown on the website – The Fixtures for February are now shown in the Fixtures section. Home teams must confirm that their pitches are available and confirm the details with both their opponents and Referees as soon as possible.

23 JAN - Water Tower fold – The League is sorry to say that after struggling to get a team for a number of weeks, Division One Water Tower has decided to fold. All their results are taken from the tables etc.

22 JAN - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Quarter Final draw – The quarter final draw was made by the former chairman of the League Roger Bostock and it sees holders Oughtibridge WM have a potential repeat of last season’s final as they will travel to Stannington Village if they win their delayed Round 2 tie with WH Crookes. The full draw is: Eckington v Joker Wickersley Youth CC; Southey Social v Royal Earl; Stannington Village or WH Crookes v Oughtibridge WM; Woodman Intake v FC Inter. All ties to be played in February.

21 JAN - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Wadsley pay the penalty as holders go through – The penultimate Round 2 game saw Twentytwo Cup holders Oughtibridge WM pip CBC Premier rivals WB Pheasant on penalties after the teams played out a goalless draw. The only downside for Oughtibridge was that Matt Broomhead suffered a broken leg when he tripped over a grass divot.

21 JAN – SUNDAY TROPHY – Oli – Oli – Oli gives Brian a lift, and Jubilee also through   – An Oli McQuillin (left) hat-trick helped WH Crookes overcome Wakefield’s Dale Club – their first defeat of the season - to reach the Sunday Trophy semi-finals and give secretary Brian Clements a lift after he missed the match with an health problem. McQuillin's treble looked to be seeing Crookes through comfortably, but their visitors hit back to level only for Jak Campbell to give Crookes victory. Crookes will face either fellow Division 1 side Boynton Sports or Doncaster’s Conisbrough CC in the semi final.

WH Crookes are joined by Jubilee Rangers after they won a penalty shoot-out after drawing 2-2 at Doncaster’s Scawthorpe Herons. Brendon Reid-Flanagan and Danny Barnsley twice put Jubilee ahead, but their hists levelled both times to take it to the penalty shoot-out, won 6-5 by Jubilee. Jubilee will travel to Barnsley’s AFC Pogmoor in the semi-final. Boynton Sports tie with Conisbrough CC was postponed and they will try again on Sunday 28 January.

21 JAN – CBC PREMIER – More than an Ord-inary win for Earl, while Inter off the bottom – Matt Ord scored the first two as Royal Earl gained an impressive 6-2 win over title rivals Eckington. Ord's double and two headers from  Joe Turner made it 4-0 at the break, and one each for Connor Chapell and Joe Paerson made it 6-0. Although Tom Gardiner hit two late goals for Eckington they were just consolations.

 Stannington Village stayed in the title hunt with an equally impressive 4-0 victory at Woodman Intake. A Danny Abdulla header and an own goal had Stannington two up at the break, and Jack Haslam and Luca DeFalco completed the scoring in the second half.

FC Inter’s 3-2 win at Sheffield Sixs was just their second of the season, but it lifted them over their hosts and out of the bottom three. The win was even more remarkable as Inter had a man dismissed for handball on the line after just 10 minutes, with Luke Allison's penalty giving Sixs the lead, but goals from Hussein and Sebastiao put Inter ahead just before the break. Tommy Davies levelled for Sixs after the break, but against the odds Fusco grabbed a winner for Inter.

21 JAN – DIVISION 1 – Porter at the double to send Dronfield top – After a Mark Ashley goal had been cancelled out by a Jamie Hopkins strike, a Sam Porter double gave AFC Dronfield a 3-1 victory at Southey Social and to the top of the table. Harry Pollard also scored twice as Sheffield South continued their charge up the table with a 4-2 victory over Mosborough Reds. All the goals came in the second half with Smith and Howson netting South's others. Luke Fogg's quick free kick and an Adam Lilley goal had kept Reds into the game, but South held on to the win.

21 JAN – DIVISION 2 – Stalemate at the top, but wins for Cotts and Royal Oak – Leaders AFC Wisewood and second place Brunsmeer AJW fought out an entertaining 3-3 draw with each other. Brunsmeer went ahead through Ollie Hall, but a Matt Civil strike had Wisewood level at half-time. Thompson Cartledge put Wisewood ahead, but goals from Charlie Wheatley and Gaz Murdoch put Brunsmeer ahead, until an Oliver Scott equaliser.

Goals from Ryan Simmonite, Alex Calton and a Leee Dolan double gave Cotts a 4-1 win over neighbours Winter Green, who replied with a Joseph Kenny penalty. With all the goals in the second half, goals from Ross Camm, Josh Sugden, a Mark Wostenholme header, Callum Sugden and Josh Birks gave Royal Oak (Dronfield) a 5-1 over Chapeltown FC. Booth netted for Chapeltown

14 JAN – SUNDAY CUP – Good Evans as Cam sees Eckington through, but Stannington bow out – Two Cameron Evans’ strikes helped Eckington beat Ship Inn 3-2 to go through to their first Sunday Cup semi-final. After a goalless first half, Dan Biggin prodded home to put Eckington in front and Evans’s double put them firmly in control, but the visitors didn’t give up and netted twice in the last few minutes for a nervy finish.

Stannington Village were just beaten 4-3 by Westville in controversial circumstances. After falling behind, two Luca DeFalco strikes put Stannington in front. The visitors levelled before the break and took the lead in the 72^nd minute, despite the home team claiming a foul in the build-up. Those claims led to the referee incorrectly sending a player to the sin-bin for 20 minutes. Despite being a man short, Stannington twice went close before Jack Haslam pulled one back, but the ten men couldn’t get another.

14 JAN – CBC PREMIER – Woodman’s alright Jack at last – A Jack Heald goal against FC Inter gave Woodman Intake their first win of the season, 1-0, to lift them off the foot of the table and leave Inter on the bottom. More good news came as the two teams just above them, Wadsley Bridge Pheasant and Sheffield Sixs drew 2-2 with each other to leave both catchable by Woodman.

14 JAN – DIVISION 1 – Marvellous Marven keeps South in the promotion hunt – A Louis Marven hat-trick helped Sheffield South to a 6-0 victory over Water Tower to lift them into the top three. At the other end of the table a Harvey Allatt winner against Mosborough Lions gave WH Crookes a 3-2 victory - their first League win since September, but it was enough to see them swap places with Lions and out of the bottom three.

14 JAN – DIVISION 2 – Blacksell strike gives Norton Oaks their first win since the opening day – A Tom Blacksell strike gave Norton Oaks victory in a 5-4 thriller with Steel City Dons, Oaks first since the opening day of the season. It was also a good day for Winter Green as Tyler Doman’s goal gave them a 3-2 win at Wadsley FC - their first away win of the season. The top three all won, but all were made to work hard for their wins. A Jack Casey goal proved to be the winner for leaders AFC Wisewood 3-2 victory at Chapeltown FC and a Brad Leather strike for second place Brunsmeer was the only goal of the game against Royal Oak. Jack Bailey-Atkin scored twice as third place Cueball won 4-2 at Cotts.

7 JAN - TWENTYTWO LEAGUE CUP – Inter and Woodman win on pens, Joker win at Wisewood – Three more teams made it to the Quarter Finals, with FC Inter winning a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw at Mosborough Lions and Woodman Intake doing the same at home after a 3-3 draw with Jubilee Rangers. They are joined by Joker Wickersley after their 3-1 victory at AFC Wisewood.

Alex Moth put Division One Lions ahead, but CBC Premier FC Inter levelled with a Mazin Ali strike. Faisel Othman then gave Inter the lead, but a Dan Beech strike for the hosts again levelled the scores. Inter missed the chance to win it in the final minute when they missed a penalty, so the game went to a penalty shoot-out and it was Inter’s veteran keeper Nikki Owen that turned out to be the hero, saving two penalties and scoring one to ensure Inter won it 4-2.

CBC Premier Woodman Intake took the lead against Division One Jubilee Rangers after just 7 minutes with an Elliott Coles header, but Jubilee quickly levelled with a smart Adam Darton finish. The second half saw Jubilee push their hosts hard, but a swift counter attack on the hour mark ended with a foul in the area and Oliver Currie’s penalty put Woodman back in front. Jubilee hit back and levelled again when they were awarded a penalty that Jack Shaw scored and after wave after wave of attacks, Jubilee looked likely winners when Liam Hill-Simmons poked home to give them the lead with just 2 minutes remaining. Woodman were still dangerous on the counter-attack and got equalised when they were awarded the game’s third penalty, stroked home again by Currie. That took the game to a penalty shoot-out which Woodman won 5-4.

CBC Premier Joker Wickersley Youth CC (pictured left) took the lead in the first minute when they travelled to Division Two AFC Wisewood, with Ben Thornton touching the ball home from Adam Daughtrey’s cross. Mike Cookson headed home a Matt Langley corner to double their lead and a third quickly followed when another Langley corner was headed on by Daughtrey for Matt Godley to score at the back post. The second half saw Thornton rattle the crossbar and Wisewood missed a chance to get back into the game when they missed a penalty, but Wisewood did get a foothold when Oliver Scott scored for them midway through the second half. It was as close as they got though and Joker almost grabbed a fourth when Thornton again hit the woodwork.

7 JAN – CBC PREMIER – Stannington nick it at Sixes, but Earl held again by Oughtibriidge – A Seb Robbemond rocket was the only goal of the game as Stannington Village won the points at Sheffield Sixers to keep their title hopes alive, but Royal Earl’s hopes were hit when they were held to their fifth draw of the season, 3-3, this time by Oughtibridge WM. Joe Pearson and Sam Fewkes goals looked to be putting Earl on their way to three points, but Connor Platts and Arnie Grayson goals either side of half-time drew Oughtibridge level. Pearson restored Earl’s lead until Callum Simms netted another equaliser for the visitors and in the end it was Earl that had to hang on to claim a point.

7 JAN – DIVISION 1 – Dronfield topple Tower, while a Howson treble helps South win a cracker – AFC Dronfield went two points behind the leaders with a 6-3 home win over Water Tower. Dronfield led 1-0 at the interval thanks to a Sam Porter header, and although Callum Riley levelled for Tower after the break, goals from Mark Ashley and two each for Josh Sell and James Taylor on his return from injury put Dronfield 6-1 up. Tower didn’t give up though and Louise Ballard and Callum Mawbey strikes kept the game interesting. Dronfield’s win came at a cost though as defender Tim Pitt suffered a torn Achilles that has required surgery and he will be in a pot for 6 weeks. We wish him all the best for a recovery.

Sheffield South kept their promotion chances alive as a Dan Howson treble along with singles from Jim Pollard, Sam Smith and Ben Greasham helped them win an eleven goal thriller 6-5 at Southey Social. Ryan Keeney headed Southey into a fifth minute lead and they had other chances to increase it, but they were made to pay for it when South hit them with four quick goals before half-time. The second half started like the first with Keeney heading home to reduce the arrears, but South struck again to make it 5-2. Carlton Carty was tripped in the box and Kieron Hopkinson stepped up to make it 5-3, but straight from the kick-off South made it 6-3. Carty then turned before scoring the goal of the game from 25 yards and he then made it 6-5 in the last minute, but South held on to take the points.

Neither WH Crookes or their visitors Sheaf House did enough to improve their survival hopes when they drew 0-0 with each other and both teams remain in the bottom three.

7 JAN – DIVISION 2 – Brunsmeer and Cueball close up on the leaders – Just a point separates both Brunsmeer and Cueball from leaders AFC Wisewood after a Brad Rains double helped Brunsmeer to a 5-1 victory at Winter Green and a Travis Hodgson double helped Cueball to a 6-0 home win over Norton Oaks.

The game was much closer than the scoreline suggests and Jake Corbally-Lidgett gave Winter Green a shock lead, but two goals in five minutes put Brunsmeer in front. It was still the same until twenty minutes, but three late goals made it safe for Brunsmeer. Along with Rains’ double, Brad Leather, Lee Clark and Gaz Murdoch were Brunsmeer’s other scorers.

Along with Hodgson’s double, Cueball’s other scorers were Billy Wilson, Jack Challoner, Connor Ashforth and Farrell Cawthorne, but it was another game that didn’t really reflect the 6-0 scoreline, with Oaks making their hosts hard for the result.
