29 OCT – CBC PREMIER – Earl topple the leaders, while Flynn turns back the years for Stannington – A Matt Morton double and a late Steve Brammer (left) winner helped Royal Earl topple the early CBC Premier leaders Chapeltown RBL 4-3. Five goals in the first half started when Jed Phillips crossed first time for Jay Carter to head RBL into the lead, but just 5 minutes later Legion found themselves 2-1 behind after Matt Morton and Sam Fewkes strikes for Earl. When Brandon Whitfield was brought down in the area Morgan Cowell stepped up to score the penalty and level for RBL, but Morton netted his second to put Earl back in front

RBL’s task was made harder when both Whitfield and Luis Afonso-Ferreira had to give way to injury, but RBL levelled again when Ash Gray’s inch perfect tackle lead to Cowell’s raking ball, which Carter touched around the goalkeeper and rolled in to the empty net, but it was Earl that went home with all three points when the ball was nodded down for Steve Brammer to hammer home.

Elsewhere, Stannington Village's veteran Shaun Flynn (right) showed he has lost none of his instinct for goals with a hat-trick in their 6-3 win at FC Inter. Stannington took the lead when Seb Robbemond played a 1-2 with Charlie Hobson and finished well in the bottom corner, but Inter levelled through Mazin Ali. Stannington regained the lead when Flynn tapped in from close range and a similar tap-in by Jack Haslam from 6 yards made it 3-1. A good move down the right saw Seb Robbemond cross for Flynn to volley home his second and although Oliver Parfitt grabbed Inter’s second, it was 5-2 by half-time when Flynn completed his hat-trick with his right foot. Ali netted his second in the second half to give Inter some hope until Stannington’s 6th in the last few minutes when Jon Wall broke away and squared for Lee Johnstone to tap in.

James Hardeman (left) was the star for Joker Wickersley Youth in their 4-1 victory over Woodman Intake. The Intake keeper made one good save from an Adam Daughtrey shot, but soon after he was beaten when Matt Bentley latched onto a loose ball before turning and hitting it into the roof of the net. Jordan Thomas shot over and Daughtrey miskicked when he tried to lob the keeper, before Nathan Taylor had a shot brilliantly saved by the Intake keeper.

The second half wasn’t too old when Hardeman set up Daughtrey and this time he went through to score, but Intake got back into it with a Kain Murphy header. Joker restored their two goal lead when a corner was headed home by Matt Claxton and they made it absolutely safe in the final minute when good work by Hardeman allowed Daughtrey to finally get his goal.

Connor Platts scored his fourth double in October in Oughtibridge WM's 3-0 victory over Wadsley Bridge Pheasant. Pheasant had plenty of possession, but it was Oughtibridge that showed them how to take their chances with Adam Thomas adding Oughtibridge’s other.

29 OCT – DIVISION 1 – Southey and Lions climb into the top three, and Reds get first win – Even though leaders Boynton Sports saw their game at Sheaf House postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, it turned out to be a good day for them as both AFC Dronfield and Sheffield South fell to defeats.

Southey Social went second with a 3-2 victory at AFC Dronfield. On return from injury Ty Gunter opened the scoring on his debut for Dronfield but Daiel Jenkinson levelled things and Jordan Livett (right) put Southey in front before half time. A Joe Taylor strike drew Dronfield, but a Jamie Hopkins strike gave the points to Southey and condemned Dronfield to their first defeat of the season.

Mosborough Reds claimed three points for the first time to move out of the bottom three with a 2-1 home win over Sheffield South. Mosborough started the game the better and created a number of chances without converting although Reds keeper Bradon Greaves needed to make a good save from a free kick to keep it 0-0 at half time. Mosborough took the lead after 60 mins when Danny Howson broke through and calmly finished past the goalkeeper, but Sheffield South put on the pressure and Luke Howson equalised direct from a corner. The game looked like it was heading for a draw when Alix Sorsby (left) scored a 25 yard screamer into the top corner to claim their first win of the season.

Mosborough Lions also won 7-0 at Water Tower to move up to third. Alex Moth hit two of them with Lions others coming from Dan Beech, Sam Midgley, Tom Davies, Billy Gillott and Harry Bembridge

29 OCT – DIVISION 2 – Brunsmeer have the B-Rains to go top, while Sugden's treble lift Royal Oak – Division 2 has new leaders in Brunsmeer AJW after Brad Rains hit four in their 9-0 victory over Chapeltown FC. Brunsmeer’s others came from a Lee Clark double, Ben Grocutt, Danny Beighton and Liam Hannah as they went top on goal difference.

Royal Oak (Dronfield) climbed three places as a Callum Sugden treble helped them to a 5-1 victory at Winter Green. Sugden gave Oak took an early lead from the penalty spot and although there was chances at both ends, it was the only goal in the first half. The second half saw Oak take control and as well as Sugden completing his hat-trick, there were also goals from Jack Larrisey and Jordan Webster before Winter Green grabbed a late consolation  when Tyler Doman scored for the fourth consecutive game.

22 OCT – SUNDAY TROPHY – Sam’s the man as Sheaf House make it a dozen – A first half Sam Jones goal proved to be the game's only goal as Sheaf House beat Barnsley's Pack Horse 1-0. The visitors were unbeaten in the Barnsley Championship prior to the game and had scored 21 goals in just 4 games, but a superb defensive display ensured Sheaf would become the 12th Blades Super Draw team through to the last 32 of the Sunday Trophy.

22 OCT – CBC PREMIER – Sixes and Inter get first wins and Woodman gets first point – A Brad Howe (left) double helped Sheffield Sixs come from two down to gain their first win of the season 4-2 and stun an Eckington side that started the day in third place. Eckington took the lead with a Tom Gambles penalty after Joe Renshaw had been brought down in the box and they doubled the lead in the 34th minute when a good ball over the top found Joel Cousins who squared across for Renshaw to slot home. Sixs comeback started just before the break when the Eckington keeper spilled a free kick and Howe prodded the ball home. Sixs equalised at the start of the second half when a long throw into the box was flicked on by Tommy Davies and Mike Whitehead tapped home. Sixs completed the turnaround when great work by Ben Southwell saw him play a ball into the box to find a late run by Chris Belshaww and he lobbed it over the keeper. Sixs sealed the victory in the final minute when Southwell made another quick break down the left before squaring the ball across for Howe to slide home his second.

FC Inter also came from behind at Wadsley Bridge Pheasant to gain their first win of the season 4-2. The game started well for Pheasant and Hotheyfa Gadour put them ahead, but Inter begin to take control and Anthony Norman equalised before Radwan Dughman put them ahead. Pheasant hit back and Chris Steer equalised before half-time, but the second half belonged to Inter and Russ Westby put them ahead with a penalty and Soufan Bousselham made that first win safe with 15 minutes remaining.

Jack Heald scored twice as Woodman Intake came from behind three time to earn their first point of the season by drawing 4-4 with Oughtibridge WM. Heald scored a penalty, but then missed one, so when Woodman were awarded a third penalty, Kyle Robinson took the responsibily and scored. Woodman’s fourth came from Elliott Coles. Oughtibridge also had a double scorer with Connor Platts netting twice to take his tally to six in his last three games. Their others came from Chas Tunnard and Adam Thomas, but they couldn’t hold on and Wwoodman deservedly took a point

Another draw, 1-1 between Royal Earl and Stannington Village, meant both of them failed to make up much ground on the leaders Chapeltown RBL. Stannington took the lead after half an hour when the ball fell to Lee Johnstone and his shot was turned in by Jack Haslam. Luca DeFalco almost doubled the lead when he hit the bar, but it was Earl that hit back with a Matt Morton equaliser just before half time. Neither side could breakthrough in the second half, although Stannington almost snatched it in the last ten minutes when Dave Shepherd rifled one from 20 yards but it came back off the bar.

22 OCT – DIVISION 1 – Atkins diet good for Boynton and Southey topple the Tower – A high quality game saw Division 1 leaders Boynton Sports make it five wins out of five as two Richie Atkins (right) goals helped them to a 3-2 victory at WH Crookes. Boynton went in front when Isaac Reardon played in Curt Priday and he whipped in a cross for Atkins to score with a well placed header. Crookes hit back and levelled before half-time with an Oliver McQuillin strike and McQuillin lobbed the keeper early in the second half to put Crookes in front. The leaders had to dig deep and levelled with a Jack Bennett free kick before winning it when Smajl Bytyci and Reardon combined to set Atkins up to score his second and the winner.

The other Division One game to survive the floods saw Southey Social climb out of the bottom three with a 4-1 victory over bottom club Water Tower. Southey’s goals came from Roan Heeley, Jamie Hopkins, Dalton Birchall and Daniel Jenkinson, with Oliver Beaumont scoring for Water Tower in a game well refereed by Craig Couldwell.

22 OCT – DIVISION 2 – Cueball snookered by Wadsley and Winter Green disjointed by Cartledge – Just two Division Two games survived the floods and one of them saw the Division 2 leaders Cueball lose their perfect record as two Dylan Collins (left) headers helped Wadsley FC to their first away win of the season 3-2. Cue Ball took the lead inside 10 minutes through Travis Hodgson, but Wadlsey equalised before half-time with a Collins header from a corner. Hodgson restored Cue Ball's lead just after half time by finishing off a route one attack, but Wadsley fought back again with a Reece James strike equalising again. Wadsley then got on top and won the game near the end through another Collins header.

AFC Wisewood climbed up to second as Thomson Cartledge hit a treble in an 8-1 win over Winter Green. It was just 2-0 at half-time, but after Wisewood scored their third, Tyler Doman netted to put Winter Green back in the game. That was as good as it got for the visitors though and the young legs of Weisewood ran riot in the last ten minutes to add five more. Wisewood’s other goals came from Matt Cowen, Oliver Scott, Wilker Sousa, Declan Pinhorn and Oscar Cam.

15 OCT – SUNDAY TROPHY – Goals Galore as Blades have 11 through – Scoring 74 goals between them 11 Blades Super Draw League teams went through to the last 32 of the County FA Sunday Trophy. A Michael Blythen (left) hat-trick and one from Chris Salt saw Cotts come back from 4-1 down to force a 4-4 draw at Angel Grenoside before Cotts went through 5-4 on penalties.

Another to score a hat-trick was Brunsmeer’s Lee Clark and along with singles from Charlie Clark, Spencer Rains, Fraser Russell, Tom Kelsey, Brad Leather and Taylor Askham they thrashed Worsbrough Common Wanderers 9-1. Also 9-1 winners were Chapeltown FC against Langold Old Boys with Danny Smith hitting three of them along with two each for Brandon Shaw and Ben Smedley, with one each for Harry Hurst and Logan Hakes. Mosborough Lions also had a hat-trick scorer in Billy Gillott and with singles from Dan Beech, Sam Roden, Mike Parker and Jack Joyce they ran out 7-0 winners at Sheffield Phoenix.

Another hat-trick came from Sheffield South’s Jon Cooper and along with two each from Luke Howson and Jim Pollard, and singles from Brad Smith, Harry Pollard and Ben Greasham, they had a very easy 10-0 victory over West Bretton. The biggest win of the day though came WH Crookes’ way, beating Sheffield Seven Hills 12-0 with a hat-trick from Oliver McQuillin, two each for Charlie Cope and Harvey Allatt, and one each for Andrew Fox, Tom Ricketts, Jack Campbell, Jacob Mattock and Pete Smith.

The all-Blades Super Draw tie saw two Jack Shaw goals help Jubilee Rangers to a 3-1 victory at Water Tower. Jubilee started quickly and Shaw gave them the lead when he bent one into the top corner, but Tower levelled just before the break when Louis Ballard came off the bench to score with his first touch. Jubilee again started the second half strongly and Danny Barnsley pounced on a defensive mistake to put them back in front and when Barnsley was later chopped down in the area, Shaw stepped up to settle the tie from the penalty spot.

Tim Pitt (right) also scored two in AFC Dronfield went through 5-1 at home to Cobcar B. A Sam Matata goal had the teams going in level at the break, but the second half saw last season’s beaten finalists Dronfield step up a gear and Pitts double along with goals from Josh Sell and Joe Taylor saw them through.

Richie Atkins and Curtis Priday both scored doubles in Boynton Sports’ 7-0 victory over Brinsworth Whitehill. Lee Jordan and Smajl Bytyci ahd Boynton two up and Atkins first made it tree before half time. After the break, Priday marked his return from injury with the 4^th and 5^th before Jake Gamban added the 6^th. Atkins completed the scoring when he chased down keeper Jenson Beever’s long clearance before rounding the keeper to score.

Both Wadsley FC and Winter Green had four different scorers in their wins. Wadsley took the lead against Lundhill when Leon Dearns scored direct from a corner and a great counter attack was then finished off by Sam Wainwright to double their lead. Will Fisher made it three before the break, but after Wadsley were reduced to 10 men for the second half, an own goal gave Lundhill some hope until Kurtis Westerman added Wadsley’s fourth. Winetr Green came out 4-2 winners against Shakhtar Sheffield with Jordan Ratcliffe and Lewis Pierce strike putting them two up before their visitors pulled one back. Ryan Clapham restored their two goal lead only for Shakhtar to pull another back, but Tyler Doman netted to make it safe for Winter Green.

Mosborough Reds, beaten 3-0 by Hollybush and, despite goals from Sam Wheeler, Laurence Badger and Khalid Muhrez, Norton Oaks were beaten 4-3 by Stannington Rangers  to go out, while Sheaf House will try again next week after their game was postponed.

15 OCT – CBC PREMIER – Joker and Earl produce a classic and Legion stun the champions – Joker Wickersley and Royal Earl shared the points and ten goals in what could be the game of the season with Ben Thornton’s hat-trick for Joker not quite enough as Earl hit back with doubles from Connor Chapell and Alex Rippon. Joker took the lead in just five minutes when Matt Godley’s long ball was flicked on for James Hardeman to beat the keeper from just inside the area, but Earl soon levelled when they were awarded a penalty and Connor Chapell scored from the spot. Joker soon went back in front when Thornton’s cross was hammered home by Nathan Taylor and five minutes later Thornton (far left) bagged his first from the edge of the area. Thornton headed his second from a Hardeman cross to give Joker a 4-1 half-time lead.

Straight after the break Chapell scored his second and Joe Turner made it 4-3. Alex Rippon (2nd left) then rounded the keeper before slamming the ball into the net to draw Earl level, but a long kick from the Joker keeper found Thornton and he lobbed the Earl keeper to complete his hat-trick and put Joker back in front. It wasn’t enough though as Earl hit back yet again with Rippon heading in at the back post to make it 5-5 and complete the scoring in a terrific advert for the league well refereed by Tony Tierney.

Champions Stannington Village fell to a second successive defeat as early leaders Chapeltown RBL came from behind to win 2-1 with two late goals. Stannington took the lead when Lee Johnstone won the ball in midfield and fed Joel Purkiss who struck a great 25 yarder into the roof of the net. The second half didn’t start well for Legion when Elliott Simpson needed a lengthy delay for a head injury, but they began to get more into the game and only three saves by Stannington keeper Nathan Ryan kept them out. Stannington almost doubled their lead twice but Luca DeFalco was thwarted by a good save by Legion keeper Lewis Fox and Johnstone had another effort cleared off the line by Adam Todd. With just five minutes left Connor Tongue’s (right) whipped corner evaded the front post and Dave Millen crept in to equalise. That gave Legion all the momentum and when substitute Ahmed Tahar marked his debut by breaking from midfield to beat the keeper it sparked great celebrations. The victory means that Legion kept their perfect league record to go 5 points clear at the top.

Eckington climbed three places with a 3-0 victory over a Woodman Intake still searching for its first top flight point. Eckington went ahead midway through the first half when Joel Cousins closed the keeper down and the ball fell kindly for him to pass the ball into an empty net and just a few minutes later Owen Ryan was played through for him to beat the keeper and double the lead. They wrapped up the victory in the second half when Ryan was tripped in the area and Tom Gambles scored from the spot.

Both FC Inter and Sheffield Sixs are still searching for their first win after they drew 2-2 with each other. Sixs took the lead when Joe Pearson’s free kick was headed home by Tommy Davies, but ten minutes later the Sixs keeper lost the ball and Mazin Ali levelled the scores. Another Sixs error allowed Mazin to give Inter a half time lead and it looked like they would hold onto it until the second minute of added time when Liam Davies scrambled home the equaliser.
